1v1 Duelling Club Day & Night PV A. Griffith, D. Ember closed

I hated going first. I never got to see how anybody else was doing what they were doing, and having all those eyes on me so soon sent a chill through me. I didn't like all the attention, especially not now, even though there were only two people watching: The dueling moderator and my opponent, Duvessa. I still felt quite tingly, though...

My next spell was a bit less direct. Even though it all seemed quite good and well, it missed my initial target! I felt my heart sink. At least it wasn't like the first time when nothing had happened at all. "Fumos!" I had yelled, but sadly, the smokescreen spell was too slow.

I was desperately wracking my brain for another spell to do while at the same time watching Duvessa very carefully for her next move, ready to dodge at any moment...was she doing the same? Probably, though my nerves might be getting the better of me. Again. Either missing had really rattled me a lot, or I was just not used to this. Or both?

Trying to think of my next spell again, having lost my train of thought, I continued to watch Duvessa warily, though I really didn't want to.

Duvessa prepared herself to duck, dodge or even outrightly run. So, training her steely eyes on her opponents wand, she got ready once more. It seemed that the Hufflepuff she was facing was ready. The spell was shot.

At first, Duvessa hesitated, what was that spell? But as she mist began to appear, she felt panic rising in her throat. It was too late! But it never reached her. Just hung around like a dull cloud. A wave of relief swept over her, so she could almost have laughed. Now for her turn. Determined to cast this spell, she aimed her wand.
"Verdumilius!" The spell was meant to shoot, and it did. Alas for Duvessa, it only contained a couple of neon sparks. Trust her to mess her turn up! It was time for taking some serious tutoring from the elders, and no doubt Dagger had met a few suitable. But writing to her? No, she wasn't that desperate. She didn't blame Ironwoods to thinking that she was useless.

Still, there was the next go. And the next. In fact, the duel was even now, and hopefully it would continue. But if she lost? Well, that was a shame that she could not face.

Note: Aurora suffers -150 HP from her own backfired Knockback Jinx.

"Round number four, guys!"They told both the young aspire Duellista. "Four down, eight to go,"They announced some more. 8 rounds seem so far away for Cash with the pace both Griffith and Ember were in. But still, Cash needed to be patient since both of them still young and need some Duelling experience under their belt.

From the first round up until the last one Cash had been standing on the far end of the piste and now their legs were tired from standing up for so long. Cash then hopped down from the platform and took a seat at one of those spectators' stands. They were sitting facing the stage. Though Cash climbed down from the platform, they did not leave both Griffith and Embber to tend on their own.

"Round four and that means this is the even round,"They reminded the Duellists up on the stage. "You know what or I rather say who goes first every even rounds,"Cash stated. With that being out in the open, Duvessa Embers raised her wand and pointed at Aurora Griffith. The incantation and the spell itself Cash had seen it numerous times when they watched one of those official matches when some of their friends had their own tournament.

Ember had executed the spell-casting correctly but the force between what she wanted to deliver and meant to do was not enough to knock Griffith off of her feet. Griffith saw it coming the moment Ember make the wand movement for the Knockback Jinx. Once the spell flew out from Ember's wand, Griffith could dodge it with ease.

From down the stage Cash let out a sigh. Turns out the aspire Duellists who stood before them really need their guidance when it comes to putting those concentrations and doing the incantation correctly. But Cash would not approach them unless either or one of them approached the Quidditch player first.

"Come on, Ember!"They called out the baby snake. "She is right there right in front of you, you know"They stated. When Cash said 'she', Cash pointed at Griffith with an open palm. Sometimes that pureblood politeness trait could not be squashed down no matter how hard Cash tried to suppress it.

Their green eyes averted from Ember to Griffith. Hoping the young Hufflepuff had more luck than her opponent. But when Griffith tried to casted the same spell that Ember had done earlier, she took a hard blow to the chest and thus made her take several steps back. The hard blow took the young Hufflepuff by surprise and it knocked the wind out of her.

"Woah, woah! Time out!"They exclaimed as they stood up from where Cash was situated. With a long and quick stride, Cash climbed up to the platform again and stood beside Griffith. They looked down at the young girl. Cash then put their hand on one of Griffith's shoulders. "You okay there?"Cash inquired.

It is a rare occasion that the green eyes show their worry but as a Prefect and way much older than the youngsters in the room, it is Cash's duty to make sure they were okay and the Duel did not put them in any harm's way. "Are you hurt?"Cash asked the other girl as their green eyes search Griffith to see if there was something wrong with the girl.

When Cash found none, they took some steps and retraced to the seat that they just occupied before Griffith gave them a mini scare. "If and when this Duel becomes too much for you let me know, guys"Cash genuinely said. The Cloud Cobra's Beater looks at Griffith again. "You sure you could continue until the end?"They asked.

Once Griffith gave them whatever answer she will tell Cash, the oldest in the room will nod their head. "If no one objects, proceed!"Cash uttered as they wait for another round to roll in to see what both Griffith and Ember will do next.

  • 200 words are required per post, rather than the 50 required for official duels. This is because unofficial duels still count as regular RPs, with the regular WC requirement.
  • Body block is not an available action since you have nobody to block.
  • Spells that usually auto-split do not have that capability since there's only one opponent.
  • There are no rewards to winning this duel except bragging rights.

A look of grim determination cast over her face. She aimed her wand, but it was too obvious; too clear. The spell was easy to dodge, and Duvessa certainly felt in need of a few tips. But it was perhaps fear that stopped her from asking the Prefect.

Then, Aurora's turn, well, that would turn out easy. She would yet do another hex, probably curse of bogies and Duvessa would suffer from loss of her dignity yet again. She braced herself as the spell was yelled and she began to move to evade it. SHe didn;t need to. Some way or another, it backfired, just like Duvessa's Dancing Feet spell and hit her with tremendous force. She winced to see it, and shot a look of sympathy in Aurora's direction. No, no! She wasn't going to be the cause of someone missing a day of lessons because of a duel!

She saw that even the Prefect leaned over to make sure she was okay, and she hastened to do the same.
"Alright, Griffith?" She called kindly, something that she didn't do since perhaps the start of Hogwarts. Still, inside, she could hardly contain her glee. She surpressed a smirk, knowing it would just put oil in the wound so kept herself to herself. She wasn't injured. She was winning.

Now it was Duvessa's turn since it was now an even-numbered round. I felt my heart beating fast, but it slowed a little when I saw what was coming. I intercepted her Knockback Jinx and got out of the way in time. I smirked. So far, Miss Ember had never managed to successfully hit me, not even once. I felt so proud of myself!

Now it was my turn. I took a deep breath and shot a quick look at Duvessa, then performed the Knockback Jinx. Funny how we were performing the exact same spell...
The result, I had definitely not been expecting. I got the wing knocked out me as my Knockback knocked me back. I let out a yell of surprise and looked up.

"I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm not hurt. I can go on, don't worry," I said. I was not giving Duvessa the satisfaction of seeing that I was hurt or couldn't continue. The blow was pretty hard, though. I took a deep breath, rubbing my arm and trying to think of my next spell. I looked Duvessa straight in her eyes when she asked if I was alright, and said nothing.

That wasn't great, but I could not be deterred.
