2023, Stage 2 Slytherin vs Ravenclaw: Match 1

Grim determination coursed through him, as if someone had poured a bucket of cold water on his head.

This duel was over. It was over the moment they failed to land. Repeatedly. When the Ravenclaws did not.

Still, he had his dignity, and he would have his pride. And that mean that he would hold on to the end of the duelling period, and struggle the best he can.

"Come on, then."

Well, at least she had managed to actually cast Incendio Duo this time, but the spell had still missed Ming, and she only had a second to scowl before Ming’s spell had hit her. Oh Merlin, not again. What was it with her and the Tickling Charm this duel? She couldn’t help it as she burst into an uncontrollable fit of giggles, which was really quite unpleasant.

At least Gem’s Tickling Charm had also hit Ming, call that karma. Admittedly, she wasn’t doing too hot right now, but she was determined to see it through until the end. She’d never give up, and at least her partner seemed to be doing perfectly fine. Pushing through the uncontrollable laughter, she rounded on Ming again.

Gem breathed out slightly as her spell hit its target. That was always a satisfying sight to behold.

She cringed as Adelaide was hit as well. The effects of that dang Tickling Charm seemed to take effect at the same time hers did, sending the other two duelists into fits of spontaneous mirth.

Gem shook her head and readied herself for the next round of magic. All she could really do was keep on trying her best.

Alan watched as the duel went on with a grimace, at this point it was a little sad to watch the Slytherin duellist struggle. He had hoped he was more lucky in this duel, but Ming's spell would just miss and rush past the eagle it was intended for. Addie and Gem would go for the same spell, though Addie even struggled to get the spell cast, she still hit and it seemed she managed to hit Ming well. Gem had an easier time to cast and hit the single viper that was left, struggling to survive this battle against the two eagles who were equal parts skilled and ruthless.

This round was decidedly a much better round for her in terms of actually hitting her target. Even though she had somehow struggled to cast the spell (which she blamed on the effects of the Tickling Charm), it still hit Ming. And Ming had missed her, so all was well. Gem had also cast a successful Flipendo, and Adelaide now finally let the cocky smirk that was itching to show grace her face. This was looking great for them, and Ming was looking a lot worse for wear. She was overly confident now, and the end was near.

Gemima would never get tired of this feeling. The cool, clear arc of her wand as she thrust it into the air, feeling its power build until it was bursting from the tip— then the sweet glow of satisfying triumph as the spell landed true.

She was fully confident now. Confident in herself, in Adelaide, and in the exciting rush she felt in this moment. Gem shook back her sleeves once more, and readied herself for what was sure to be the final blow.

RAVENCLAW WON

There was something going for the last round at least. The two Ravenclaws were both great at casting, but their aim was completely off. This also sort of meant that they won anyway, because for some reason Ming had decided to do nothing. Adelaide's knockback jinx was well enough cast, but missed the lone snake, whereas Gem went all out on the cast, only to miss Ming by a mile. Overall that didn't really matter too much though, as Ravenclaw still had a clear lead by the end of it.

"Ravenclaw wins!" the Gryffindor shouted, marking the end of the duel with that. He gave his congratulations to the pair of eagles, before ensuring that Ming got medical attention, since he looked like he was about to pass out.
