Perfect Prefect Advice PV Eris Fawley Closed

[font=monotype corsiva]What to do? Besides the fact that the position she held was totally new to her, she had no idea what detention entailed here at Hogwarts. At her acclimation school, as her mother had called it, failure to maintain grades resulted in some extremely harsh punishments, but she'd rather not dwell on them or inflict them on her fellow students. But something had to be done. The damage caused by the two girls, one of them a second year, was unacceptable. And so Luna sought advice. She had a list of people to consult. And so she was here in the Great Hall to find the first one.

One Eris Fawley. She had been a Prefect, though Luna knew nothing about the when and why Eris had stopped. Honestly, she hadn't paid much attention to anything in her first year. Regardless, Eris might be a good well on which to draw. Luna had encountered her before and of course, heard rumors. But Luna put no stock in rumors. They always had a way of getting out of control. Luna had no strong opinion of the fiery girl and was sure this interaction would change that.

She entered the hall, out of school robes as her classes were done for the day. Luna had a newer outfit on. A black and white flannel dress, long sleeves, and twin pockets on the skirt. She also wore a pair of black leggings and her black hiking boots. She had affixed her Prefect's badge on the dress so she would be recognizable to anyone who may need her. Her amber eyes glanced around the bustling hall. Luna was of average height for her age, but Eris wasn't. Luna would have to be eagle-eyed to locate the red-haired girl. After a good twenty minute search, she finally noticed Eris.

She approached, not timidly, but not aggressively either. Proper greetings made good starts.

"Hello, Eris. I don't know if you remember me, my name is Luna. I was wondering if I could get some advice from you."

Eris Fawley was hungry, and food did not come easy at Hogwarts. You could easily go to the Great Hall, yes, but that was the only place in the castle that was an acceptable spot to eat. Eris was not one for rules, but she was one for people. Eris enjoyed the throbbing mass of people, and the chatter around her. It reminded her of what Eris wanted to fight for, in case Hogwarts did fall to the masked menace. Eris Fawley was not a dumb girl. She may have been an impulsive one, but she was not stupid. Not by any means. No, Eris believed fervently and wholly with all her being that the masked man would be bad. He had sworn to come back and kill her, and Eris had read enough fairy tales to think of herself as the next Harry Potter. She would be the “chosen one” of her own generation, forced to fight against the dark evil. Harry Potter’s own Voldemort--a name that her family did not speak-- had been supposed to be dead, but ironically he was not. Eris’s own Voldemort was there, watching in the shadows, as the masked menace of Hogwarts.

Eris didn’t have such somber thoughts, as she sat at the Gryffindor table, yorkshire pudding in front of her, along with a side of chicken tikka masala. Two things that normally would not have gone together, but Eris was in the mood for random food, and these two fit the bill perfectly. Eris alternated eating small portions of each of her meals, chewing carefully in silence for a moment. There weren’t any other second years sitting at the table for an early dinner snack, so Eris was woefully alone, until the significantly taller and significantly blonder girl approached Eris.

Eris looked up from her chicken, impassively studying the girl in front of her. She was out of uniform, good. So was Eris. Eris was perfectly content in her golden shirt and red fluffy bottoms. It was expected of her to wear fancy clothing, clothing that benefited a pure blood lady, but her grandmother kept things more casual when the two of them were alone. This led to Eris owning clothing that was far more comfortable and far more benefiting to a young witch, who cared little for her looks when nobody was around to see her.

Brushing a hand against her pyjama bottoms, Eris couldn’t help but grin. She felt like a potions dealer, or something of the sort, having a random girl come up to her. She wasn’t one of Eris’s house, which could be told from the blue prefect’s badge sparkling on her chest. Eris’s grin faltered, when she recognized the girl from a brawl in the hallway.

It was never good to get on the bad side of a prefect, which was something that Eris had learned too late during her extremely short term as a prefect. Blinking, Eris turned her eyes away from Luna to make sure that no other Gryffindors were around to insult her for what Eris was about to say next.

“Hello Luna, are you here for advice on how not to get bullied by myself and Max Avery? Because I can’t exactly give that to you, and I’m certainly not going to have academic knowledge that you don’t have. But still, what can I do for you?”

She patted the bench next to her, gesturing for Luna to sit down, if she’d like.

[font=monotype corsiva]Overthinking often was a curse. Analyzing ever bit of information presented can cause one to jump to scenarios that weren't there, often leading to making the situation worse. Whether or not this one would get worse was yet to be determined. The overthinking however would happen as Luna saw Eris' grin slip away. Her brain went into overdrive, wondering what would cause such a reaction. Was she upset at seeing Luna? Why? Had she been expecting someone else? Was it because she had interrupted her meal? All these thoughts raced through Luna's mind. Not in a debilitating way luckily. Her mind processed it all quickly, ejecting most of the thoughts as absurd, and thinking about possible answers was pointless when she could just proceed with the interaction.

Luna observed the scene. Eris was eating two foods Luna didn't recognize. One looked like some sort of pastry and the other some kind of meat dish with a red sauce. Additionally, they were surrounded by people in the bustling Great Hall, and yet, not. No one was really paying attention. Not that it mattered to Luna if they did. She had good reason to be here, and anyone questioning that could be dealt with.

Luna smirked at Eris' comment. Luna may have the air of a proper girl, but that was all a facade. Luna was a street urchin and wasn't afraid of bullies. She knew how to fight, although in a much more underhanded way. And school had added to her ability to defend herself with her joining of the Dueling Club. She had taken on Max in a duel in her first year as well and barely lost the match. Max had been a gentleman to her afterward, so Luna wasn't even sure to what Eris was referring. Perhaps Luna had proved herself to the boy. That didn't matter either. She was much more afraid of Kaegan really, as no one had done anything about the unstable dhamphir. She still had nightmares about those pitch-black eyes. Luna dismissed this thought process as well, refocusing on the task at hand.

Luna smoothed down her dress as she sat at the offered seat. She made sure to make eye contact as she spoke to the girl.

"I heard you were once a Prefect. I have a couple of students who nearly drowned a fellow student, by pushing her into the Great Lake and causing a head injury. I need ideas for what to do as detention. Something appropriate, but will get the lesson through. So to get to the core of this, what would you do to them?" Her voice was steady as she spoke. She had no clue what suggestions Eris would provide, if any, but the first stop on her list was hopefully the last she'd need.

Luna’s smirk prompted a smirk from Eris. It wasn’t one of fear, but rather the conspirator’s grin that all troublemakers knew and loved. At least, she attempted a smirk, before letting out a groan and swiping a miniature army of ants off her pant leg. The bugs seemed to be everywhere, as of late. Eris personally did not like ants at all. They were small like Eris, but way less cool and far more easy to crush.

Crush them she did. Pushing all the ants off her leg, Eris scowled blankly, before Luna’s words kicked in and her brow furrowed. Luna wanted prefect advice from her? Of all people in the world, she wanted Eris. She couldn’t have gone to Bloom or Ben, the power duo ex-ravenclaw prefects. She couldn’t have gone to Phaedra, or anyone responsible. No, she had gone to Eris Fawley, the idiot who got herself sacked after a month. Two months, if one was counting. Which Eris wasn’t. It was best not to dwell on the failures of the past, not when she was an accomplished pureblood and an accomplished idiot.

Oh, no. This was fun prefect advice. Devising a way to punish students for being out past curfew, a crime that just so happened to be one of Eris’s favorite pastime, was something that Eris had missed out on. Sure, she had snuck out more than enough times, but never had inflicted punishment and never had punishment inflicted on her, besides for a disaster of a detention with Leonie. Her short term as prefect had been spent sneaking out with Reed and fighting against rats with Serena. Eris made a mental note to be sure not to let Luna catch her after hours, and frowned, tilting her head to the side. Swimming in the lake sounded fun. Eris made another mental note to try that someday, pursing her lips together. She felt little attachment to the fellow troublemakers of the school, but still, people who snuck out together had to stick together.

“Rumors fly around yes. I was once a prefect, but if you know that, then you know I was fired for beating the living hell out of a ravenclaw. Eri Windstone? One of your kids. Yeah, to be honest I'm not the best person for the job, but if you really want to punish them, give them a chore of cleaning the potions classroom up. It’s messy with the potion remnants and dark enough to scare any little first years.”

Eris returned back to her food for a second, but found Luna to be more interesting. Eyes still fastened on the shiny prefect badge, Eris waited for a reply.
