Thurston hummed slightly as he wandered through the seemingly endless rows of bookshelves that Hogwarts library had to offer. He sometimes wondered if they ever gave books away since the collection of books only seemed to grow. That also made him question if there would be any old books to be found, not that he really cared though. He just wanted to find something nice to read and hoped that not too many students would be around at this time of the day. He finally chose one of the thinner books that were bound with a beautiful green cover that would read about creatures influenced by the moon, as there were surprisingly many of those.
Thurston decided to sit down in one of the armchair lounges as that one was luckily empty- at least for now. There were still five other armchairs but he hoped that no student would approach him and force him to socialize with them. He simply couldn't ignore a student if they would dare to approach him. After all he was a professor at this school and that had his bad sites as well, that whenever he wandered through the corridors a student could try to get on his too side but whatever.

To say the boy stood out would be a grievous understatement. His skin was beyond pale, going into the pasty sallow grey of a corpse, the only noticeable coloration on his skin was a few splatters of long dried blood and the dark shadows that lurked underneath the dark blueish grey eyes, eyes that seemed hardly to blink, but rather stare ahead with a sort of tired ferocity, determined to devour any information that crossed his line of sight.
His hair was black and messy, burned in places and tangled with a few leaves in others. The only clean thing about this boy was his grey scarf that concealed his neck and just the tip of his chin. It blew about in the slightest draft, proving itself to be of a unusually light material indeed. His robes were far too big for him, although it seemed someone had sliced off the bottom so that it would not drag the dirt, fraying ends proving testament to the fact that he had not deemed it worth his time to hem. On his back was fastened an unusually large umbrella, roughly the size of a staff or broom, and around his shoulders was a cape.
The cape was a dark blue silk, the outside splattered with black as if some child had tried to color it with a bottle of ink, which was indeed how those marks had come to pass. His odd attire matched his odd motions, as he moved as if he were stalking some unseen prey, or, more accurately, as if he was trying to not he found. It was a movement and gait that would have seemed perfectly natural among swaying reeds, something you might overlook easily in a swamp or forest of swirling mist. But in the library it stuck out. It almost didn't seem possible for a child to act that way, to move with that much deliberate smoothness. It almost seemed inhuman. But only almost.
The prefect had caught sight of the professor and promptly approached him until stopping roughly five feet from where the professor was sitting. He knew the professor's name. Had attended his classes. In a voice that sounded like a whisper, he greeted the man. a quiet sound that would normally be odd. But here in the library it made sense. It fit.
"Hello, thursday. I am Kaegen Deathmote, Fens-Born Scarf-Wielder. He who was called fat tadpole as a babe, suicidal idjit as a toddler and he who earned the name Eeh before arriving at Hogwarts. Friend of Eris, Chaos-Born First-Avenger, companion to November, Deathmote-kin. Assistant to Professor Lear under the authority of himself. He who was made prefect of ravenclaw under the authority of the black burn and sir happiness. He whose names are given authority by Grandfather, whose authority is given him by the conqueror of the 14th dark place.

Amanda needed a new book. She had finished reading Coraline and had found it to be very entertaining. But, unfortunately, the time had come when she had reached that one hundred and sixty-third page and had to close the book for good. Finding another good read was always a challenge. It took lots of searching , and since there was no internet at Hogwarts, it took even longer.
Amanda made her way over to the library shelves and began the hunt. She perused the titles before her eyes, not finding anything new of interest. That is, until she came across Radiance. One-word titles had always intrigued Amanda. They sounded so mysterious and inviting all at the same time. She gently pulled the book off of the shelf and read the back. It was about a girl who had died and gone to the afterlife. That could be interesting. I might as well try it out. Amanda tucked the book under her arm and walked out from the maze of shelves.
Amanda spotted the Astronomy professor, Thurston Barclay sitting in one of the armchairs. Amanda adored Astronomy and had a growing respect for Professor Barclay. She was making her way over when she noticed him. The strange vampire boy had approached the professor and started talking. Amanda could only make out a few words here and there, but the last sentence came drifting towards her ears loud and clear: ”Teach me how to kill with magic.” Amanda stopped dead in her tracks, the color draining from her face. Oh no. He must be referring to me. She could feel the panic rising up inside of her chest. There was only one way to stop whatever was about to transpire, and that was to interrupt.
Amanda wasn't generally rude. Sure, she punched the occasional person, only for good reasons though, or so she would argue, but one thing she would never do was interrupt. But here she was, striding up to the professor and the dangerous, psychotic vampire boy. The deranged Prefect had already tried to kill her before and Amanda couldn’t let him succeed. When, she approached the two, she could feel her hands shaking ever so slightly. “H-hello Professor. How are you doing?” She then turned to the pale boy and looked into his dark and frightening eyes. “And, uh, hello Kaegen. How i-is everything with you?” Amanda could hear that her voice was quavering. She sincerely hoped that vampires couldn’t sense fear. The last thing that she wanted to have happen was for anybody to know that she was scared of a stupid, scrawny boy that wanted to kill her. Because that’s definitely not scary at all.

Somewhere in the back of the library on the floor sat a little first year named Skylar. She was writing away in a notebook in her favorite purple pen, the one that made her handwriting look fancy even though it wasn't. She had shoulder length blonde hair and blue eyes the color of the ocean, not that anyone ever noticed. She was barely noticeable with her legs hugged close to her body, barely enough room for her to move her hand in the first place.
She was writing a poem to no one except herself, just trying to get her feelings out about being in a magic school. Sometimes when she talked to peopleabout her family here they would call her a Mudblood, whatever that meant. It sounded like a curse word but no one with authority seemed to really mind the word so she didn't. Skylar added that to her poem.
Skylar could here some shuffling of feet and voices but when she was writing she always tried to stay deep in thought to get the best out of it. One of the voices sound familiar, maybe one of the professors. That perked her interests; which one was it? Maybe she could ask them something. She quietly crawled towards the end of the row, wanting to peek at whoever was there when she heard the words, "Teach me how to kill with magic."
Wait, that voice sounded familiar too. Skylar rubbed her chin and squinted her eyes thinking. Then she took a quick peek: there was a Professor, a Prefect, and a Ravenclaw girl like her. It seemed like Ravenclaws liked to flock to professors, well, except for her. Skylar quickly sat back, hidden. She wanted to listen to what would happen next; what would a teacher at Hogwarts say to that?

Thurston just planned to reach out for the book that he had placed next to him, on the armrest of the comfy armchair he was sitting on, when one of Sergei's prefects approached him, making the young professor look up in annoyance. Damn those bear and his Ravenclaws was what the ginger haired man thought just in that moment as he waited for the second year to voice his concerns, or to simply start speaking. And speaking he did.
Thurston had to bit back any remark about the disrespect from this student and even though he never personally talked with him, nor cared to remember a students name as there were too many of them anyways, he knew exactly who this weird fashioned Ravenclaw was. He was known for his, let's say, different personality. Thurston could not care less if that student wouldn't have approached him like this.
"Mister Deathmote... Care to explain what it is that you want? Without sounding too disrespectful if you may?" he asked and wondered if Sergei, the prefects Head of House would kill him if he would kill his prefect- after all that would mean the old man had to search for another prefect to replace the young boy... Not to think about the scolding he would get from Ackerley, if he thought about it. Probably not the best idea, therefore he simply stared at the young boy before another Ravenclaw thought it would be a great idea to approach him and the young boy who already began to annoy the impatient werewolf.
"I am doing fine." he said cooly, inwardly cursing his mentor for having to deal with his students.

Amadea was terrified of the library. If she was being honest, she was quite easily terrified of things. Amadea should probably have put things into better perspective. After all, the reason she was terrified of the library was not a great reason, and furthermore, the incident had occurred long ago back during her first year. Despite all this, Amadea was terrified.
She braved walking through the entrance and immediately felt a bit calmer once she was among all of the books. She loved the smell of the pages and the way she just felt at home among all of the paper. Amadea needed to find a book today. She was looking to do some extra research for one of her classes, not because it had been assigned, but because she wanted to better understand some of the topics they were going to be studying. For once, Amadea had a bit of free time from the endless cycle of classes, homework, and Prefect duties, and she was not going to waste any second of it. While others might think more studying was a terrible waste of free time, Amadea was looking forward to it.
She easily found the book she was looking for in one of the tall shelves that lined the library walls and headed over to the lounge section where students and faculty could relax and read. Unfortunately, it seemed as though there were already a fair amount of people there, both students and teachers. Amadea debated whether or not to sit down, but decided she might as well. Hopefully, the students wouldn't be too distracting.
Once she had taken a seat in her chair, she was about to crack open the book but looked up to see the people who were talking. To her surprise, Amadea recognized a few of them. There was the ever elusive Kaegen Deathmote who scared Amadea half to death, the also very elusive professor of Astronomy, Professor Barclay, and a few other students that seemed to be watching everyone else. Amadea simultaneously wanted to roll her eyes and begin laughing and also run from the room. Unfortunately, she didn't dare do either and simply plastered on a smile. "Hello everyone," she said quietly, dipping her head in a slight nod to acknowledge them.
Should she have said more and introduced herself? Maybe. But Amadea wasn't in the mood to be making conversation, and frankly, didn't really want to talk to anyone. Hopefully everyone would shut up soon so she could focus on her book.

That girl. That horrible, HORRIBLE girl. If he could even call her that. The bane of the blessed, boon of the bad. It almost seemed like she was following him everywhere. Why, how? It didn't matter. He was going to kill her, kill her so she stayed dead this time. A slingshot wasn't going to cut it. Wasn't even close. A grin started to spread across his face, growing wider and wider, revealing a very bloody, very sharp pair of fangs.
A little voice in his head, a little nagging presence that grew right alongside his grin, odd rhymes that resounded in his mind like a unusually clear, resonant bell.
He was still staring at the professor, eyes wide open, smile plastered across his inhuman features. The boy’s pupils started to squirm and move, but met with practically no resistance as they spread, covering most, but not quite all, of the eyes, moving and fluctuating like live things.
“. . .I meant, professor, that I should. . . Very much like to learn how kill by means of a spell. . .
. . .But for now, do I have permission to rend that death witches flesh from her bones until there is nothing left that could conceivably sustain a living organism?”
His voice had started out calm, if a bit hesitant. A whispery tone that predicted no anger, or any emotions at all. But the more he spoke the more powerful it became. Perhaps not very much louder, but far more malicious, as if there was a storm backing up the previously tranquil rustling breeze. The other prefect was ignored, the girl in the book cases not even noticed. His fingers were straining, long, dully pointed dirty fingernails looking more like claws than ever.
“A gruesome death, agonizing pain
Her fragile form shall be ripped in twain
Name wraith shall finally have died
Link to this mortal realm untied
Perish under bloody fang and blade
Pain you’ll feel til from our mind you fade”
"Pain made hellishly, horribly real
Soon your life on this earth we will repeal
Set us loose, untie the chain
Fuming fury on you all we'll rain"

Dash the rest upon floor of stone"

By Slytherin... whatever happened, Thurston did not like it. He soon found himself being crowded by various students- mostly by Ravenclaws though. As he could see the grin forming at the crazy students face, flashing the absence of canines, the boys craziness made suddenly more sense for the professor with the reddish brown hair, that fell in soft and light curls. These curls weren't that noticeable at least if his hair was dry.
The doing professor raised an eyebrow in amusement at the young Ravenclaw. "Sadly I can not allow that, Mister Deathmote. You would have noticed if I was allowed to use harmful spells on students or demonstrate a curse to them" he said lightly, not meaning it serious as Thurston himself wouldn't ever harm someone under his protection and as annoying as students could be, he still felt somewhat responsible for their well being. "And you should think about causing less trouble as well" he added, but this time in a more serious voice. He did not know how he ended up giving the mom talk to Kaegen Deathmote, but any idiotic move from the Ravenclaw prefect would also reflect bad on his mentor, old Sergei Yornikovych.

Skylar quickly shut her notebook and peeked around the vorner once again. So it was Kaegen, the rude Prefect who was messing with her friends, and now the professors. Well, she couldn't let this happen; she didn't have bug spray but she did have the power of force, and although her fist looked more than capable of punching someone, she'd seen the horrible fangs pop out of his horrid mouth and wasn't sure that her hand would that effective towards his probably hard skin. But that didn't stop her from grabbing a nearby book instead.
The short Ravenclaw was quick; rolling across the floor, Skylar hid under the table and crawled towards the professor and the other students. She glared at Kaegen, the Mosquito. Why was he so weird? Perhaps he was the demon of the school, maybe even the Masked Harasser everyone was talking about. If she'd known he was a dumb vampire she would've gotten a wooden stake instead but time seemed to be on her side anyway. That explained his whole attitude though; he was probably too dumb, old, and cranky to realize treat other people with respect, as the cold blooded creatures went. And she wasn't scared of him at all, if that's what he thought; Skylar just wanted to make him pay for the disrespect in the Common Room.
Bursting out from under the table, Skylar charged at Kaegen with her book, yelling, "Begone, demon! Don't worry, professor--I will get rid of this infestation before he bothers anyone else!" Aiming at the boy, Skylar threw the large book straight at his face, a menacing look on her face. "It never looked good anyway, so there won't be much to complain about, Mosquito" She dared him to use magic to deflect the book--that'd just show everyone how dependent he was on a higher power and not his own pure strength.

At one moment the young professor was kind of lecturing the young Ravenclaw prefect, as it would be idiotic not to do it and allow him to attack one of his co students and in the next moment she could hear fast approaching foot steps. His head whipped around and he watched in surprise as the girl threw a book. Was she... crazy? Without much thought his inhumane instincts kicked in as he drew his wand in one swift movement. "Arresto Momentum" he hissed as if it was the books fault and not the doing girl who had the amazing idea to throw a book at another student; a student of a race that was known for being crazy. He watched the book slow down on its way through the air and picked it out the air. Before the situation could escalate, which kind of already happened, he scowled at the young witch. "What were you thinking? If you were thinking that's it-" he demanded to know of the witch, while keeping his focus also on the young dhampir; ready to restrain him with a full body binding curse if he should not be able to keep sane right now.
