Marina tugged at the vines that were holding her captive. The lead that she had possessed earlier in the game was quickly slipping away. As Marina tried to remove herself from the vines she thought back to how she had gotten in this situation, wishing she had been more cautious with her movement.

"Isn't it obvious? I've got a crush on you," George said simply, as he raised his wand high and then brought it down with a satisfying thunk to plummet Xailah into the cold hard ground. Did people really think Quidditch was a better sport when you could straight up drop tower your opponents off their brooms in this game? This was awesome. George looked over his shoulder at Xailah's prodding - a stupid move to follow your enemy's pointing, but he was caught up in the moment. "Which nice chap? I can only see Hugh and Simon." Ouch! Friendly fire from captain badger.

It's so close. Jack could taste the victory on his lips. However, in front of him stood a helpless racer, and the bloodlust began to rise in his chest. The temptation may be too great. Jack's knuckles were sheet white as he gripped his broom for dear life as the boy contemplated his next course of action. There was only one thing he wanted to do. An evil grin spread across his face as his mind was made.

Della felt a wave of relief in her pounding head. Up above, her teammate had sent a healing spell her way. As the younger Gryffindor stared up at the older, another rock came hurtling Della's way. It cracked against her skull in exactly the same spot as the last. So much for relief. She couldn't even say thanks to Xailah because the badgers sent the sixth-year flying to the ground. This game was rough, that was for sure. She knew Xailah could handle herself and there would be plenty of time to give thanks after the race, so she looked straight ahead and kept flying.

Magic could heal quickly, magic could heal quickly, magic could heal quickly - at least that's what Simon kept telling himself each and every time, including this one, when he threw an object at them. This wasn't exactly the way he like to do broom racing but it WAS a legal move and sometimes you had to do what you had to do for the team and even out the playing field. The lions weren't across the finish line yet. The badgers still had a chance!

Still bothering @George Henry

There were a lot of things she expected George Henry to say- something backhanded, snide, or plain impish- considering the strange child he was. What she hadn't been expecting was some weird, half-hearted confession(?). Xailah whipped her head up, squinting with a look that painted a clear visage of billowing confusion. Having not anticipated the curveball, the expression said plenty: wait, that wasn't what you were supposed to say. She wasn't sure what he was supposed to say, but it definitely was not that.

Xailah was completely unfamiliar with that realm of human emotions. Crushes. To be completely frank, even the slightest mention- joking or not- made her insides twist inward with discomfort. She had not experienced nor reciprocated any at any point in her life. She hadn't the capacity and was far too interested in other aspects of people to even consider anything other than platonic dynamics (and besides, she enjoyed bumbling through life without the burden of someone who could not keep her pace). She could be very friendly, to the right people, and she could tease, but that was all it was- friendliness that could be easily misconstrued for flirting, or what have you.

She was certain, however, that George wasn't the least bit serious (especially when Hugh was present with his glorious sideburns), and his "admittance" had only been laid out to rile the metamorph up. Distract her- which it very well would have, if this hadn't been a race. A game then, Xailah decided. She could play along with this. Stall him if possible.

"Why, I'm flattered Mr. Henry," She drawled, planting one hand on her hip while the other motioned around aimlessly with her wand. "But I must implore you to direct your affections elsewhere. Consider this my official rejection of your feelings. Heartbreaking, I'm sure, but I'm afraid Schrödinger wouldn't be at all fond of you or that owl of yours." At that, she feigned a sigh. "And do understand; it's not me, it's definitely you."

When George turned around, following the trail her wand traced in discussion of the so-called "Nice Chaps", Xailah used the moment of peace to her teams advantage. "Yes! That one! Simon!" She called back out, confirming the latter was the preferred target; and almost missing George's trigger-happy implication of willingly directing his focus onto his unknowing teammate. Did... Simon know his captain considered him cannon fodder? Maybe he needed to consider taking up another sport after this race was over. For his own best interest.

Not a second was wasted while George had his temporary distraction (and bonding moment with Hugh, via a well-deserved flying branch). Xailah spun on her heel, redirecting herself forward with the sharp twist. She saw another rock fly ahead, and once again, hit Della. Unfortunately it was enough to send the white-haired girl plummeting. Damn. Needless to say, the eldest lioness was not happy about that. So, to even the field, Xailah lurched forward and practically flung a spell at the nearest opponent she could spy straight ahead. "Relashio!"

Although it came close to steering away, her aim would strike true in the end; effectively dropping second-leading badger, Serena, to the ground. One of hers for one of theirs. It was almost a fair trade.

Of course, peace did not last during these games; and George just had to go back to pestering the metamorph. Once again, her attention was directed to him as a spell from above fizzled out when it connected with the ground next to where she stood. "You are wasting your time!" She was trying to warn him.
