Unlikely Friendships
Odi stood with his robes hiked up to prevent them getting wet. He was ankle deep in the black lake with his day shoes placed neatly on the bank a few metres away. Fish were flitting inbetween his legs and around him intermittently, but he had sensibly put on a pair of thick wellington boots that stopped him from nipping at his feet.
He carefully reached towards the surface of the water and hovered for a moment. He plunged his hand in. The fish darted around like someone had dropped an explosive in the water and skittered away. Odi smirked. Even though he had no strong feelings about fish either way, he was more partial to dangerous beasts. Perhaps they could sense this fact, Odi thought to himself as he caught sight of them wiggling away under the now rippling water's surface.
Drawing back his hand, Odi prepared to skim the rock he had grabbed across the waters surface when he became aware of another's presence and almost jumped out of his skin. "Godrics heart, do you mind?" He called to the red-headed girl across the water. "Don't sneak up on people like that." He scowled and threw the stone at the water, but his concentration had been broken and the stone sank instantly. He felt his face redden and the fish started to return to the area where he stood. He kicked drew his foot back and kicked the floor hard in revenge, sending a cascade of sand and rocks dispersing around underwater. He turned his head back and noticed the redheaded girl was still there. "Can someone help you?" Odi knew he sounded rude, but he was growing rather sick of people staring at him around the school so far.

Unlikely Friendships
Alana was wandering around the peaceful Great Lake scenery. Her ears were trained on the creatures singing their songs. Alana’s fiery red hair swayed with every movement the young eleven year old made. Her sea-foam teal blue eyes sparkled brightly in pure wonderment.
As Alana was wondering near the Great Lake the young girl could hear the sweet sound of the water rippling. The young fiery red haired girl stopped in her tracks when a sight of a young boy caught her attention.
The fiery red haired girl did not realize she was staring until the young boy seemed to speak to the young girl with a harsh tone. Though Alana let that tone roll off her shoulders. The fiery red haired girl grinned happily her eyes radiated happiness and joy. Being the people person Alana is she skipped over closer to the young boy.
“My apologies! I did not mean to stare. Nor did I mean to startle you either! My names Alana! Alana Dibble! What are you doing out here? Seems like fun though the Grindylows may disagree.”
Alana spoke softly with her honey sweet tone. Her sea-foam teal eyes sparkled a pure radiant kindness. She rambled slightly but she did not really noticed that she did. Her freckles popped vibrantly as the sun shines it’s rays down upon the duo. Making her fiery red hair look a tad brighter if that was even possible in the first place. Alana smiled gently as the breeze gently nipped the red haired girls freckled splattered face. A few strands of her fiery locks danced freely in the breeze as Alana continued to show the boy in front of her a warm gentle genuine smile.

Unlikely Friendships
Odi's expression softened a little as he the girl across the lake apologised to him, a vague pang of guilt washed over him for a brief moment, but it was soon replaced by the gruffness that had come at the end of a challenging day. "Greetings and salutations Alana." His tone dripped with sardonicism. "I was taking a peaceful moment to skim stones across the lake." He attempted to skim another stone across the water, this time much more successfully than the first attempt. The stone managed 4 jumps across the surface of the water before it sank.
He picked up another stone and readied his throw "But apparently I can't even come down to a lake with water demons in it for peace and quiet." He threw the stone and managed five, maybe six hops this time before the stone plunged beneath the water's surface. Odi nodded his head in triumphant satisfaction.
He took a deep breath and turned around, trudging slowly back to the bank. His face was suddenly portraying a much calmer expression than his words were a few moments ago. "So what can I do for you, Alana?" He said her name with a little tease in his tone, almost flirtatious. You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. He thought to himself as he approached the shore

Unlikely Friendships
The fiery red haired girl stared at the boy in front of her. Though his tone seemed a bit sardonicism the young Gryffindor girl did not seemed to mind one bit. Instead Alana watched the young boy skim the rocks across the lakeside. The fiery red haired girl walked a bit closer towards the young boy standing only a few feet away though she stayed closer onto the short then near the waters edge. Her sea-foam teal eyes scanned the vast lake watching the lively creatures shadows move underneath the lakeside.
Alana took in a deep breathe air the scent of the Great Lakes scent of murky water seemed to waft freely through the air along with the scent of wet mud. The fiery red haired girl seemed to hum though hearing Odilon speak about peace and quite. The young fiery red haired girl figured she stay silent as a respect towards the young boy. As the wind gently brushed against Alana's fiery red haired girl she smiled gently crossed the water pulling a few stray strands back behind her ear.
Once Alana heard Odilon trudge back towards the bank where the young girl stood she glanced over at the young Gryffindor boy. Alana took in his appearance slowly. Alana noted that Odilon's white blonde hair seemed to shine in the sunlight which seemed a bit radiating similar to the young girls fiery red hair. Though the taller boy also seemed to hold a high stature for himself, by the way he acted and spoke though the young fiery red haired girl did not seem to mind at all.
Alana listened carefully when Odilon spoked to Alana asking what he do for her. Though Alana really did not know how to answer. In all honesty she just noticed the boy and was curious after all he seemed to be alone.
"Nothing really. I was just curious I heard you skipping rocks and figured I say hi after all. Nobody deserves to be by themselves though sometimes being alone is nice. But sometimes being around someone is nice. You know making friends is the best feeling ever. Then you are not alone."
Alana rambled softly her honey like tone was gentle as the young girl smiled gently at Odilon. Though she could tell this young boy seemed like the type to mainly want to be alone the young girl could not help but feel the urge to try and become friends with him of course he seemed like the type that rather not be around anyone after all. Alana gazed at the boy in front of her. The young girls sea-foam teal eyes sparkled sweetly with pure kindness an joy.

Unlikely Friendships
Get a load of Polyanna over here. Odi thought to himself as he heard the bubbly girl speak.
"Nothing really. I was just curious I heard you skipping rocks and figured I say hi after all. Nobody deserves to be by themselves though sometimes being alone is nice. But sometimes being around someone is nice. You know making friends is the best feeling ever. Then you are not alone."
It was slightly refreshing, Odi thought, seeing someone so unfettered by negative emotions. How light it must feel to walk around the world with so little baggage. He sat down heavily on the bank and pulled off his wellington boots, watching Alana as he pulled on his school shoes. When he finally replied, he tried to speak to Alana in a more polite tone than he had taken with her before. "I appreciate your sentiment, but I'm not exactly someone who struggles to make friends." He jammed his other shoe on roughly. "I wanted a little quiet time, though maybe I should've looked further outside the castle for it." His eyes drifted to the forbidden forest, with it's gloomy fog looming over them even at this distance.
He shook the thought out of his mind for now. Begs the question though, what are you doing out here?" He looked behind him to see if any other students had started leaving the castle to come to the lake, but the bank was relatively clear. Why was a goodie-two-shoes like this doing outside on a dismal day like today? The black lake always held a sense of awe-inspiring beauty, but why wouldn't Alana come to appreciate it's majesty on a more sunny day? They were just entering the spring season lately and the weather of the Scottish Highlands didn't take to sunshine as much as the weather down south.
Odi laced up his shoes and sat back on his hands on the grass, it was still slightly soggy from the rain from the previous day, but he didn't mind getting a little wet or mucky.

Unlikely Friendships
Alana watched Odilon curiously her sea-foam teal blue eyes sparkled brightly with joy radiating from them. Alana watched the young boy quietly a smile embedded on her freckled splattered face Alana's fiery red hair gently swayed in the frigid cool air. The young girl gaze across the lake noting the Forbidden forest. The young girl hummed quietly Alana listened to the young boy speak her eyes gazing at him for a bit. As Odilon asked her a question why the young girl was outside on such a dreary day as one like this. The young fiery red haired girl glanced across the great lake her sea-foam teal blue eyes watching the lake's still water ripple every now and then.
"I quite enjoy the nature. On days like this everything is a bit more lively, though not as lively as they would be with the sun's ray. After all this weather is rather peaceful less people around. The cool breeze brushing your skin gently. It is all so calming and blissful honestly."
The young fiery red haired girl spoke softly her gaze turned towards the lake watching the shore that was across from the duo the fog from the forbidden forest was eerie but rather peaceful. The young Gryffindor girl hummed softly as her gaze continued to watch across the water a smile embedded on her freckled splattered face. The wind gently nipping at the young girls face. Though the ground was still lightly damp the smell of rain still lingered in the air.
Though Alana seemed a bit weird in her own little way the young girl quite enjoyed the peaceful nature. The young girl did seem to hold an aura of peace and a bubbly nature around her. Her sea-foam teal blue eyes sparkled with pure joy and admiration as she gazed across the lake at the forbidden forest. The mere idea of meeting magical creatures excited the girl though she knew better then sneak into the forbidden forest though would she ever try quite possibly if her friends ever tried to coax, but over all Alana just enjoyed the sounds that wafted from the forbidden forest. Especially occasionally seeing the Hippogriffs venture outwards from the forest. Alana stood in a nice little peace as the frigid chilly air nipped at her face making her fiery red hair gently dance in the breeze. The young girl definitely seemed to have no care nor any worries in this world. She just felt peace in nature after all one only lives once.

Unlikely Friendships
With Alana basking in her own reverie, Odi could only watch in bemusement as she quietly ruminated on the influence of the weather; her optimism had been slightly grating to him at first, but it was somewhat entertaining now to see how her thought process worked.
"Yeah." He said when Alana was done talking. "Because most people don't want to get their robes dirty, especially at the beginning of the day, the house elves like to wait till we're not around before they do any laundry in the common room." Odi's family did not have a house elf growing up, but at his uncle's farm there was a little one called Soot that helped his uncle to feed the chickens and muck the stables.
The lake had settled into quietude, and ripples that Odi had caused with his ruckus had long faded into the vast depths of it's surface. There weren't many areas like this back in London. Odi didn't quite realise how much he had gotten used to the concrete jungle until he was thrust into the natural wonderland of the Hogwarts grounds.
It felt like simultaneously like an escape as well as a prison. Free roam around an open vivarium, but only within the bounds of the permitted locations. Then again, Odi mused, when has that ever stopped me from a little escape artistry before?
This thought dragged Odi's mind back to the forbidden forest. "What do you think is out there?" He asked Alana, jutting his chin up towards the forests entrance. "Do you reckon it's as dangerous as they say? Or do you think they're just trying to scare us into not going too far outside the castle?" A small, impish grin perked the corners of Odi's mouth, he looked over at Alana, waiting for her response.

Unlikely Friendships
The gentle breeze nipped at Alana's ears as she continued to stare deeply across the lake towards the forbidden forest. The young fiery red haired girl remembered stories from her brother about the rumors of what lie out in the forest. The forest was forbidden for a reason after all one should not break rules. Even though the fiery red haired girl seemed transfixed on the forest her sea-foam teal eyes examined the area across the lake the fog from the forest rolling off of it like waves.
Alana hearing Odilon speak the young girl always seemed curious about house elves, but her family being a half-blood they never had the need to have one. Along with it being against her mothers beliefs to even get a house elf. Her mother though she is a pure-blood did not agree with the pureblood way at all. Alana hummed softly.
"Dirt does not harm anyone. I enjoy exploring and exploring comes with some little downfalls and if dirt is one of them well that is okay with me after all nobody has died from getting dirty."
Alana turned her gaze towards Odilon her soft teal sea-foam gaze staring up at him softly. A smile appeared on the young girls sun-kissed tone skin. Her button nose seemed to make her freckled splattered face pop greatly, the young girls fiery red hair cascaded down her shoulders in waves of ringlets as the gentle frigid breeze danced around the duo in a silent whisper of air. Alana turned her attention back across the vast lake staring at the forest that resided across. The young girl hummed gently in thought.
"Many magical creatures. This world is filled with many creatures. My brother mentioned that the forest is home to many dangerous beasts. Even werewolves and other so called dangerous beasts. Though I do not think they are dangerous they are just protecting themselves. So many poachers are known for hunting this poor creatures it is quite unfair."
Alana spoke softly her sweet honey like tone wafted gently through the air softly. Alana's sea-foam teal blue eyes sparkled gently in wonderment. As the gentle wind nipped gently at Alana's ears the young girl seemed to be lost in her own little world again. After all she was one who enjoyed the mysteries that the world has to offer her after all. Alana turned her soft sea-foam gaze back across the lake her eyes scanned the scenery as if sense the children the giant squad raised it's tentacle in the lake for a split second before it submerged it's tentacle back under the murky water. Alana's face brightened even more, one of the many reasons she enjoys coming to the lake is seeing the giant squad, but every now and then one can see more then they expect after all you never know what is in store at Hogwarts after all a place full of magic is deemed to be nothing but magical.

Unlikely Friendships

Odi's gaze was transfixed on the forest's edge, as if something was calling to him from within. "Perhaps we ought to do some proper exploring, after all there's only so much to see inside the grounds, and there's a larger world beyond these walls..." For a moment, it looked as though Odi was ready to leap from the floor and start sprinting towards the forbidden forest at full speed, but instead he turned back to Alana with a charming smile.
"But pardon my lack of manners." The sun was just starting to peak out through the clouds again and he covered his brow with his hand to prevent it from getting in his eyes. "I'm Odi, Odi Wilde." He stuck out his hand to shake hers, though his was a little muddy from leaning on the grass with it. Odi thought about withdrawing his hand, but it occurred to him that this would be a good test to see if Alana meant what she had said before about being okay with getting mucky. He watched her closely.
It occurred to him that he had seen Alana before, around the common room a couple of times, but she was the sort that often frequented the library, so he had never had much opportunity to speak with her. Especially given that whenever he entered the library he was usually kicked out within minutes.
She seemed like a nice girl, and she had quite a striking set of features, but she also seemed naive to him. He wondered if taking a trip into the forbidden forest with her would be safe for the doe-eyed girl. If he took her into the forbidden forest, not only would he feel intensely guilty if she got injured but he'd also likely lose his place at the school. Perhaps it would be better for him to make the trip alone.

Alana hummed softly the young girl seemed to enjoy the idea of exploring the forbidden forest though the thought of getting into serious trouble bothered the girl just slightly. Alana's sea-foam teal eyes sparkled with radiant joy. The young fiery red haired girl hummed though she giggled slightly. Staring at odilon.
"What fun is life if you can not have a bit of danger in the way."
The young girl spoke softly as she giggled gently. As the sun light shine it's brighten rays down upon the duo. Alana's fiery red hair seemed to sparkle as if it was a freshly lit campfire her freckled splattered face popped out more vibrantly then normal. The young girl shooked Odilon's not minding the muk a strong bright grin still plastered on the fiery red haired girls face as she stare at the young boy with her sea-foam teal blue eyes the wind gently picked up making a few of Alana's fiery strands dance in the gentle breeze. The sound of birds sang a melody through out the Great Lake. The lake it self had ripples that moved gently each time. A few dead leaves were picked up by the brisk wind as the leaves began to dance in their own little way. Alana smiled gently at Odilon her eyes sparkling.
"It is a pleasure to meet you Odilon!"
The fiery red haired girl continued to smile gently at the boy as the suns rays began to hide away behind the soft cotton clouds that were covering the gentle calm sky. Alana felt happy to make a new friend after all the young girl was always excited to make as many friends as she possibly could.
