Avery's Speech

· || ──────────────────Image posted by the member ────────────────── || ·
-----A very, borderline hated History of Magic. It wasn’t the teacher, nor the classroom but the content. One lesson could be so vastly different to another, because of different topics they studied. Some were gripping, and thought provoking, and others just were.

Today was one of those lessons where Avery could think of a million other things he would rather be doing. He spent much of the lesson doodling with his quill on a spare piece of parchment. He drew terrible caricatures of the Hogwarts founders that were depicted in the stained glass windows, putting most of his efforts into making Salazar Slytherin look the most put-together and un-scruffty of the lot.

He had to stifle a yawn then, lest he get caught being rude, hiding it with the back of his hand. Unless their Professor had the ears of a owl, he was sure he was safe, but those around him could very well see that the boy had finally lost the battle in hiding his boredom.

With that, he started to look around for anyone closeby who he could pester, or looked equally bored. He was in one of those moods that his brothers would often hate him for, he wanted to be a nuisance, get under your feet, get up to no good; in a fast paced blitzing style. He occasionally got this way, when he had finally exhausted himself trying to cram all of the topics that interested him throughout the week, and Fridays left him spent. Hopefully there was someone that matched his energy, or at least looked interesting.

History of Magic was the only class Madison disliked, not just because the teacher was boring but also because the content made her sleepy, she knew most of this since she came from a Pureblood line, her parents had years and years worth of their history stored away, most of which included facts about the time period and area they were living in.

Madison saw a boy drawing at his desk as she entered the classroom and sat down at her desk, she was glad someone else was also just as bored as she was, but she thought he was a pretty good artist too.
Trying her best to stop her eyes from closing once the lesson had started she fought with herself to stay awake. Unless the Professor had eyes in the back of his head, she was sure that the professor wouldn't notice her resting her head on her hand so that it didn't hit the desk, because then she'd definitely get caught.

Madison eventually saw the same boy that she'd seen as she was walking into the classroom, looking around with the same look her older brother gives when he's bored and wants to pester someone, she tries not to look too bored, but in History of Magic, that was a very hard thing to do

Avery's Speech

-----S lumping in his chair, Avery shifted his gaze around, having looked at the magically moving chalk or the grey skies outside of the windows he was trying to replicate for too long.

It wasn’t long before he spotted Madison, who seemed to have been nodding off before they made eye contact. A wide grin pulled his thin lips apart, finding a decent amount of humour in it, as he nodded to her in silent agreement from across the rows of desks. He wasn’t the only one struggling to keep focused in this lesson, which was a small comfort after what seemed a gruelling monologue from their professor about Goblin Wars.

The pale boy had short cropped, jet black, hair and a set of deep set dark eyes that seemed to scour all that they were set upon; as though perpetually curious as to the secrets of everything and everyone they met. His posture was pretty refined, and unlike many of the other school kids; for even in boredom he didn’t slouch over his desk. It spoke to his birth really, and the endless etiquette, elocution and general candour lessons and tips he had to endure during his childhood. The life of the aristocracy was hard, harder than this, he thought; but at least here he didn’t have the watchful gaze of his mother; here he could do things differently.

After having absentmindedly twirled his short black quill between his fingers, he thought about how he could break the monotony of this lesson. Avery opted to try and see if Madison would mind wasting a bit of time by making gestures at her, by first nodding forward at the professor, widely gesturing at the whole class and then gesturing to fall asleep on his hands, as if to say that this was so painful they could all be sleeping. But he had a remedy, judging by the wide devilish smirk that grew on his features…

Ashley was sitting quietly in class as the other kids whispered and chattered a little.
He wouldn't hold them accountable. Time was moving slowly while History of Magic dragged on and on. Simply because Ashley found it difficult to relate to the lessons and because he was too exhausted to listen. Funny as he was, Professor Caradoc always made an effort to keep his lectures short and to the point.

Ashley tried to avoid dozing off at all by placing his head on his left hand. Lessons in history of magic were a little more rigorous than those in the other courses the boy took.

"Argh! Let let today be over with!" Feeling a little worn out from the wait, he wished to scream but he made it internally.

When he turned to look at the other side, he couldn't help but notice a Slytherin boy who appeared to be acting strangely and who appeared to have a commanding presence in the area. It was noted that a Hufflepuff who appeared to be more focused on the Slytherin boy was another presence that had been presenting itself among the other personalities in the room.

Ashley tore two pieces of parchment and penned the following:

He hurled it to the Hufflepuff Girl and the Slytherin boy. He would also wink at them if they turned to face him. In order to confirm that Professor Caradoc had not seen Ashley's behaviour, he also turned to look at him. He quietly sighed.

Madison, who was sitting still at her desk and trying not to giggle at Avery's gestures, though soon she got distracted by a piece of paper that fell by her feet. She turned around whilst Professor Caradoc had his back turned and saw a Ravenclaw boy wink at her. She giggled softly, not enough for the Professor to hear, and picked up the piece of paper that had fallen by her feet. She opened it up and read it to herself. She grabbed her quil and wrote a reply back which read "Yes, i feel like i've died and gone to hell, except when i close my eyes and re open them, i'm unfortunately not dreaming. My name is Madison by the way, though you can call me Madi" before she tosses it back towards the Ravenclaw boy. Shen then turns back to see the Professor still writing on the board, so she turns to Avery and gestured back with a yawn and the information going in one ear and out of the other. 'This is so boring, why is this even a subject?' she thinks to herself, as she slumps into her chair, though still sits up enough that she doesn't look too bored, then starts drawing a picture of the quidditch pitch on a bit of parchment, where she would rather be instead of sitting in a classroom, listening to someone talk about Goblin Wars, which she had heard of in books, though never took any interest in.

-----A very seemingly avoided the aerial note, stifling a laugh as he watched it land closer to Madison.

His ebony eyes shot in the direction it came, to find a grinning Ashley. Avery hadn’t met the boy yet, but immediately recognised that he too was a free spirit trapped in the confines of this bland lesson. He inwardly questioned the note and what it said on it, but it didn't deter him from creating his own kind of fun. When his brothers were at school, a long time ago, they would always tell him about the pranks and mischief they would get up to; how they would create paper birds to fly around class and nip at people. The Leveret clan seemed to have a genetic disposition to mischief, disobedience and general badness.

The pale boy slowly placed his quill in his inkpot for a moment, as his hand slipped below the desk to reach into the small sewn wand-pocket to retrieve it, all the while he grinned devilishly. He wasn’t privy to the message that was written, but he knew that the two students he had spotted had an appetite for something more interesting and he would, in this instance, provide.

“Wingardium Leviosa!” He gave, hushedly, feigning an itch on his nose to reach his free hand up to scratch at it whilst simultaneously concealing his mouth from the front of the class.

He had cast the spell at a time when he thought the professor wasn’t looking, as subtle as he could, swish and flicking his wand beneath the table; loosely aiming as he looked between professor and target: Madisons’ quill that she was using to draw with. The aim, of course, was to disrupt her activity abruptly, playfully even; to have her quill begin levitating out of her grasp.

Madison, who was still drawing and blissfully unaware of what Avery was doing, suddenly felt her quill disappear from her grasp as she saw it levitate in the air. She turned around and saw Avery with his wand in the air so she knew he had to be the one levitating her quill. She giggled and got her wand out too, leaving it under her desk and pointing it towards her quill, she sneezes and said the incatation "Relashio", which in turn, released her quill from the grip of Avery's levitation charm, though after getting her quill back, she smirks and thinks it's time to have some fun with Avery. She makes sure the professor isn't looking and casts the biting jinx onto Avery's quill, which in turn made his quill bite/nip at him. She tried to conceal a giggle or two and placed her wand back into her robes as the professor turned around and got the class started on some work. Madison giggled softly as she heard the quill nipping at Avery, though the professor stopped the quill from nipping Avery and Madison turned around, looking at Avery when the professor wasn't looking. She shrugged her shoulders at him and wrote him a note, rolling it to his feet. The note read 'if you prank me Avery, i will prank you back, game on' . She then smiles at him softly and turns back around and continues her work. She started getting very bored writing about the Goblin War, she remembered her mum had told her about them once when she was younger, though she never paid that much attention since she preferred to be outside playing Quidditch with her dad.

Since all of these activities took place during the session, Ashley was naturally paying careful attention to the professor. Nevertheless, before to engaging in any mischief, he had his attention riveted on the professor. If they'd been discovered, it would have been simple so he had to maintain caution. In general, Ashley wasn't like this. Although he enjoys paying attention in class, it appears that today he was seduced by something he is unaware of, which is trouble.

When Ashley turned to look at Avery and Madison, they appeared to be experimenting with magic in class as the notes he had sent to them had been delivered. If they do not use caution, this will result in detention. Although Ashley was bored, he wouldn't dare use magic in class, would he?

The unfortunate first year had temptation, and as a result, he surreptitiously pulled out his own wand and cunningly watched to see if the professor was still around. Having said that, he noticed Avery's textbook and figured he might be able to play about with it more while still being cautious. He asked himself, "Want play with magic?" as he cast the Levitation charm while flicking his wand back and forth.

He gestured to Avery's book and whispered, "wing-GAR-dee-um leh-vee-OH-sa," maintaining the spell secretly and making sure no one saw him. "Let me demonstrate what chaos is." He threw Avery's textbook to the front of the class, concealed his wand, and seemed to be shocked by what had happened, this was him pretending. He had a clear understanding that Avery would draw everyone's attention. So he remained silent and grinned mischievously.

Since making his Hogwarts debut, the lad had never engaged in foul behaviour before. He may end himself in custody as a result, but he decided to take the chance. "At least I won't be the only one if this results in my detention," he said in his thoughts.
