”Come on Wheezy,” Louise’s brother Benjamin called after her, bobbing and weaving through the sea of children, “All the good spots are gonna be gone- Mum said Bea and I had to make sure you got on the train alright before we find our friends-“
Louise tried her best to make her small legs move as fast as she could. The faces of other students whizzed past her quickly, the advice of her mother already beginning to become fog in her brain the further and further she moved away from her parents.
“Just be yourself Lou,” her mother had said to her, smoothing back one of Louise’s chocolate brown waves, “And I know your father is giving you a tough time about making sure you get into Slytherin. But wherever you end up- it will be the right place for you. Don’t forget that alright?”
Louise didn’t even know what house she wanted, but her mother’s words comforted her. Maybe attending this new school wouldn’t be all that bad…
Suddenly, she felt her sister Bea grab her arm and pull her through the crowd, not caring whether or not she was dragging Louise into people.
“Don’t worry wheeze,” Bea called back to her, her blonde hair flipping wildly behind her as she moved through the crowd, “Benny is just concerned about meeting a certain someone- oh mind the gap there-“
Louise suddenly found herself on the train, and the nerves quickly began to eat at her once again. She would be going to school with her siblings, a new school too. She would have to make new friends- which she wasn’t very good at- AND navigate a brand new place. She had heard stories all about Hogwarts. Small things that her siblings had said, like how the stairs shift and move constantly, or like how the castle is filled with ghosts. Not only was she about to live in a large unfamiliar place- but she had to worry about moving corridors too? Louise was very much panicking. Regardless, she knew she would try to do her best to be a fantastic student despite her many fears.
“Okay, you can leave now Wheeze,” Ben said, stopping off in front of one of the compartments
“I don’t understand though-“ Louise squeaked out, “Can’t I just sit with you and Bea? I don’t know anybody-“
“Sit with a first year? Wheezey I love you but me and Bea are third years. we can’t do that.”
Louise frowned as her brother and sister moved into the compartment with their friends. She took a deep breath, trying her best not to cry.
Louise began to meander down the compartments before finally coming across an empty one. With a small smile, she picked herself up and walked into the compartment.
Sitting down onto one of the seats, she began to make herself more comfortable taking out a small sketch book and charcoal to do some sketching.
As she sat and doodled , she wondered about how her new experience at this school. Would she make friends? What house would she be in? Would her siblings be friends with her? No- that was silly… she didn’t want to be the girl who was friends with her siblings…
Continuing to drift off into scenarios, Louise waited for the train to start moving- or perhaps for someone to join her.
(ooc: kinda used this in another thread but it didn’t really get a response so i just figured i’d use it here. if that’s not chill i can change it!)

Fardeen was... Well, nervous would be an understatement, he was borderline petrified as he stood in front of the barrier between platforms nine and ten.
His heart was beating so fast he feared it would suddenly come to a stop.
"Come on... You can do this," he whispered to himself "Just one step forward... One foot... And then the other... And then the other again and... Oh god, I can't do this."
He let go of the massive trolley suitcase his parents had packed for him. He looked comically small beside it, it was so huge and heavy he could barely move it. He flapped his hands, trying to dissipate his anxiety. He knew he must have looked crazy to the other people in the station, but he didn't care, he needed some time to catch his breath before... Before what? Was he actually going to do it? I mean, it's not like he had much of a choice, his parents had already left, and they had his phone and... Oh god indeed.
"Alright, no going back... I'm brave..." He grabbed the handle of his suitcase again and took a few steps back "I'm brave, I'm brave, I'm brave, I can do this..." After taking a look around to check that no one was watching, he took a deep breath and armed himself with courage.
He could do this.
Not wanting to give himself any more time to back down, he closed his eyes and ran head first to the barrier, prepared for all of it to be a weird intricate prank and to just break his head against the wall.
But that wasn't what happened.
When he opened his eyes he found himself in platform 9 3/4
It was real
"Holy smokes..."
He couldn't believe it. He could have screamed from excitement right then and there.
Instead, he dragged his heavy suitcase to one of the entrances to the train. A staff member helped him get it with the rest of the luggage. Now it was just him and his little antique backpack.
He simply couldn't believe his eyes, he was practically vibrating at this point.
As he hopped into the train, he gasped, surprised by how big and pretty it was inside. He took in every detail: the smell of candy, the patterns in the carpet, the sound of the other kids' laughter.
"Poggers"
He started passing the compartments, marveling at how many kids there were, his new classmates.
Oh no, now he was getting nervous again.
What if it was like his old school? What if they made fun of him? What if he couldn't make any friends? What if he ended up all alone all year? What if...?
No, he remembered what his therapist told him, there was no use in losing himself to all of those hypothetical scenarios, he just had to live in the moment.
Come on Fardeen, live in the moment.
He started thinking about Hogwarts instead, started daydreaming about it. Everything he knew about the school came from what little conversation he and his parents had been able to strike with the vendors at Diagon Alley. From what they told him it seemed like a dream, a huge castle filled with magic, it was like his favorite novels come to life.
The boy was so enthralled in his daydream that he didn't see the girl right in front of him, clashing with her and almost making them both fall to the floor.
"OHGODIMSOSORRY" he didn't even give her time to formulate a response, he just fled the scene, ran right past her and got into the first empty compartment he saw, immediately closing the door behind him.
Except when he looked back it wasn't empty.
There was a girl there, she seemed to be around his age. The thing that caught his eyes first was her hair.
"Hey your hair his really pretty."
Oh my god, he really needed to learn to think before speaking.
"Uhm... I mean..." He held out his hand "Hi, I'm Fardeen, and your hair is really pretty." Before she could answer he noticed her sketchbook, taking his hand back "You draw? Epic! I draw too! What are you drawing?" It was like his shyness had completely melted away, he was so nervous that he was absolutely calm. He sat down beside her.
His heart was beating so fast he feared it would suddenly come to a stop.

Louise's head shot up instantly as her compartment door was quickly opened and slammed shut. Her brown eyes widened as she examined the boy who had just entered and sat directly beside her. What was he doing here? Why was he sitting next to her?
'Breathe Louise,' she told herself
Suddenly she was snapped out of her anxiety-driven speculations by the boy speaking
"Oh I um- I...." How exactly would she respond to that? She felt her face flush a bit as she struggled to find an answer, "Erm- Thank you...and yes I do draw," she smiled tilting the small book a bit to show him the contents.
The sketch was of a large willow tree in a meadow of wildflowers. It wasn't particularly remarkable, but it was well drawn enough where you could at least tell what everything was supposed to be with some detail. There wasn't much color, as it was mostly drawn with charcoal, but still overall it looked like a lovely picture.
"You speak oddly," Louise said with a small laugh, before composing herself to quickly apologize, "I'm sorry I don't mean to be rude or anything-" Louise had never really used the word 'epic' to describe things...she knew 'cool' of course but 'epic' was slightly foreign. She'd have to ask Benjamin about it later...if he'd even TALK to her.

Louise blinked, opening her mouth to say something however she stopped herself as the boy continued to speak. After a moment she blinked again, making sure he was done speaking. If her mother taught her anything, it was to always be polite- and Louise was not about to give that up just because she was at school."Hey your hair his really pretty."

"Hehe... I..." He didn't really know how to respond to that, he felt his cheeks heat up, did he say something weird? I mean, yeah, complimenting her hair before even saying 'hi' might have been a little weird but... Was she making fun of him? No, she didn't seem like she was, she seemed nice, friendly, she said she didn't mean to be rude and he was going to take her word for it, "don't worry about it" he replied with a lopsided smile, hoping his nervousness wouldn't show."You speak oddly,"
Then his eyes fell on the sketchbook, it was really impressive. He actually didn't know that much about art, he just liked to draw his specimens and his thrift store finds, but he could tell the girl had talent.
"Did you do that just now?" He asked, his moth agape, "wooow it's beautiful! Look, I'm gonna show you mine!"
He took off his backpack and retrieved a big notebook, hand-crafted by his mother, it had a hard cover with a beautifully painted golden Hercules beetle. In it he had everything: lists of fun facts about obscure historical events, his dream journal, pressed flowers, the password to his New Club Penguin account, and of course...
"Look, here!" He showed her a page full of rough colored sketches of his favorite insects, "this is an elephant hawk-moth, deilephila elpenor, they're really pretty," he said, pointing at one of the sketches: a really elegant-looking moth in green and pink.

Louise nodded in response to Fardeen, "Yeah, just now as I've been sitting here... it didn't take too too long," she smiled, looking on as he showed his own sketch book.
While Louise was not a huge fan of bugs, she could not help but admire the beautiful coloring of the moth. Plus, their eyes were quite large and kind of cute. She thought about asking more then she stopped herself, thinking about her previous comment.
Perhaps she should elaborate? After all, there really was no way of knowing what she meant by 'Speaking Oddly.' She hoped that he wasn't offended- it was just that nobody she knew in the magical world at least said that. Clearing her throat quickly Louise squeaked out, "I didn't mean you said anything weirdly- more like..." she paused a moment to think, "For example, I've never really heard the word 'epic' used to describe something. It's quite weird. I've rarely ever heard it used among the people I know in the wizarding community." The way Louise enunciated the 'I' made it seem as though she wanted to emphasize the importance of her family. Perhaps out of a force of habit.
Louise let out a small, perhaps slightly awkward laugh before continuing on, "Anywho, this moth- where is it from? Why does it have those bright colors?" she shifted in her seat a bit smoothing out her outfit as she relaxed a bit in the compartment. Louise was mostly a listener and so she waited excitedly for the answer to her moth question.
((OOC: also really sorry for late response lol))

"Really? That's awesome! You're so good at it!" He took another peek at her sketchbook, the meadow seemed so peaceful, he could almost imagine himself playing amongst the flowers, he wondered what kind of wildlife would inhabit it.
Fardeen was left speechless by the girl's words, how was that possible? How did wizards even talk? If they didn't say 'epic', what else did they not say? Did they have some secret code or something?
He was pulled out of his thoughts by her questions, his face lit up, he could happily talk for hours and hours on end about his bugs.
"Well, this one is actually native to England!" He flipped a few pages, showing her more sketches of it in different angles. "It lives mostly in the south, but lately they've been spreading to the north too! they're really common. It's actually my favorite moth, I have a pinned specimen on one of my displays, I would show it to you but they didn't let me bring my phone in here," he pouted, disappointed at this fact, he would really miss his technology this semester. "The bright colours might make you think it's poisonous, but it actually isn't, it's harmless, and a great pollinator! They're also nocturnal and completely vegetarian."
The boy was about to continue rambling about his moth when his mind went back to her previous comment.
"Hey, do wizards really not say 'epic'? I'm really new to this, my parents are mu-... Mug- Mog-" Oh god, what was the word? Oh, righ! he snapped his fingers and spoke with confidence, "moguls!"

"Muggles-" Louise corrected with a small laugh, "And, I suppose we just sort of say...cool? I guess? I was going to ask my brother- he knows everything," Louise shrugged, fully believing of course that her older brother did in fact know everything.
Louise had enjoyed listening to Fardeen talk about the moth. It was clear he really enjoyed the subject, and Louise loved listening to people talk about the things they were passionate about. However, one thing did stick out to her in particular.
"What's a 'phone'?" Louise asked, thinking back to her own home and if she had ever seen one. She lived in London, but her family really only was active in the wizarding community. Still, she would have seen...perhaps a phone was those little rectangles people sometimes walked around with?
Louise closed her sketchbook as she wasn't really using it anymore turning her attention to Fardeen, "You know, I really do not know much about muggles. Other than that they don't have magic. My family doesn't really talk about them-" Louise cut herself off, realizing she may have sounded rude.
She didn't mean to of course- it was just that coming from a prominent pure-blood family, muggles were often overlooked. Louise thought quickly deciding to try and save herself.
"I mean- you have other cool things though! Like um...traffic...lights?" Louise thought that sounded correct enough. She had seen traffic lights outside of her townhouse and they had always fascinated her anyhow. Louise just tried to put on her best smile and hoped that that would make up for whatever she was rambling on about.

"Oh, muggles, right," he giggled as his cheeks heated up again in shame, he really needed to catch up on all the wizard terms. "Why doesn't your family talk about us? I mean... I kinda get it i guess, we're not really that interesting to be honest, I find the magic world just... Wow, I can't believe this is all real."
He looked out of the window, rocking on his seat, delighting in the sight of all the kids and their fantasy-looking luggage and owls and...
Oh right, the phone thing.
"Look, a phone is..." How could he describe it? He had never met anyone that didn't know what a phone was. "It's a little machine, about this big!" he formed a rectangle with his fingers, "it has a screen and you can download applications on it, like games! Or social media and messaging apps, that way you can keep in contact with your friends even if they're far away! You can also listen to music and..."
He was distracted by the sound of the train honking, he scrambled to get up, putting his hands against the window, his wide eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Look! It's moving! We're leaving the station!" He exclaimed, rocking up and down on his feet.

"OH!" Louise said excitedly, pressing her face against the window. She tried to make out her parents and thought she could just about see them in the distance. Her mother's lemon-yellow coat seemed to just be visible in the sea of people. The nerves started to set in once more as the train continued to lurch out of the station, the view changing slowly from people to city, and then shortly to pastures. Lucky for her though, she had a friend now at least.
The train's departure offered Louise a perfect excuse to not answer Fardeen's question about her family. Her father would already probably turn his nose up at Louise having this conversation with this boy. Best not to scare off a new friend. Besides, she figured eventually her father would come around if she and this boy decided to be friends. She realized they really hadn't agreed to anything yet, and they really just met. But he seemed nice and interesting enough.
Louise was silent a moment before she asked, "So if this phone can have anything on it- could you get wizards chess on it? or exploding snap? My brother got exploding snap with his allowance but personally I am saving up for my very own pet." Louise was proud of herself for keeping her off-topic rambling to a minimum.
Louise then quickly added on, "And staying in touch with people far away- wouldn't you use an owl? My family has this ancient owl named Broomhilda and she always bumps into everything- it's quite funny actually," Louise laughed at the thought of the old bird crashing into their pristine dining room at random hours of the day. It always made her laugh and she hoped the anecdote would make him laugh too and maybe make him feel more comfortable.

The girl's laugh was contagious, Fardeen found himself laughing with her as he imagined that clumsy old bird delivering a letter and running beak first into the windowsill.
"Broomhilda is a really weird name for an owl... In a good way! It reminds me of a Dungeons & Dragons campaign I organized with some friends a couple of months ago." He dropped himself back on the seat as he watched the station go by through the window, all the families of the kids waving goodbye. He wished his parents were there too. They thought it would be best for him to get to the platform on his own, but next semester he was going to ask them to go with him, they would be amazed with everything there.
"I... We don't really use owls? I mean, we used to use pigeons, but that was a really long time ago. I think phones are more practical, the messages arrive in an instant instead of a few days, it's pretty cool." He commented while mindlessly swinging his legs, "I can't believe you'd never heard of them, in the muggle world everyone has one."
His eyes traveled up, fixating on the ceiling, "I don't think those kinds of games are on the appstore, I've...
