A Frosty Lake
The lake was unfreezing, but the cruel winds still attempted their best to sabotage students walks. Day after day, Duvessa rapped more and more layers of scarfs, hats, coats and knitted jumpers with a huge, snake like "S" emblazoned proudly.
Interacting with @Caoimhe Kyle & @Lilliana Havemore
Today, the dark haired girl had decided to take a walk around the lake. Why, in feezing cold weather? Well, Duvessa loved the fresh air. Was it cold? Yes, it was. But that was exactly why they were there.
Any outsider would probably be very confused, why on earth would three girls be having a very frosty walk around the lake? Well, it was quite simple, actually. Privacy. No one liked to venture into those dreary days and bone chilling days - no, everyone were probably rapped in their thickest jumpers and pjamas, chilling in front of a crackling fire and toasting marshmellows - how delicious...
Those thoughts were passing through Duvessa head, maybe they should have to finish their walk quickly and then be in the Slytherin common room, although teasing each other like mad - it certainly was a bit more warmer. She shivered to herself and once more wrapped the scarf tighter around her.
"Cold, isn't it? Still, best not to be overheard. I hate it when people snoop in others conversations, although ours probably just contain the best ways to eat Chocolate Frogs." She remarked, chuckling slightly as she turned to face the two friends with her.

-----It was a chilly Sunday, and for some reason Duvessa coerced Caoimhe and another of her friends to take a detour around the frozen lake. Caoimhe's Caribbean heritage made her sensitive to cold weather, and she would huddle close to herself as her teeth chattered. During the winter months, her lips were stinging from being dry and cracked after moistening them with her chap-stick. Her nose and cheeks were crimson from the cold. Even though Caoimhe was well-bundled and wearing her sage-green puffer jacket, the girl would still suffer from the chilly breeze.
Caoimhe hurried up her stride to reach Duvessa's side while attempting to hear her best friend's statements over her chattering teeth.
"Why don't you want to be heard?" she questioned, turning to face Duvessa with a worrisome expression. It was obvious that Duvessa enjoyed getting into mischief, and so did Caoimhe if she wasn't submerged in dueling or studies, but to what extent did the girl take it to be concerned about lurkers?
Caoimhe imagined Duvessa was congested and going mental from the cold when she mentioned chocolate frogs randomly. What in the world was she talking about? Caoimhe pondered. With an eyebrow raised, Caoimhe turned around to face the blonde female with confusion. Was she aware of the reason Duvessa was bringing them here or what Duvessa was talking about?
"What are we doing here, exactly?" Caoimhe spoke while halting. The girls had traveled a sufficient distance from the castle and were now alone. It was time to get some answers.

A Frosty Lake

─────Lilliana was already sensitive to cold. She regarded the sixties as sweater weather, and even just a slight breeze would make her shiver. If she had to get rid of a season, winter would be it. Sure, it was pretty, snow falling and twining branches of trees. But her face always got red, and it became dank from the cold. Her hair felt rigid, each strand hardened and froze, not having its normal, smooth, luscious texture that she loved. But, here she was, out in the midst of winter, nearly dying out in the cold wintry weather.
She also wasn’t the best dressed for the part. A crochet white sweater top and a pair of wide leg pants didn’t really do much help to the occasional gusts of cold air rushing through her legs and making her shiver. Her coat, although fuzzy and looked nice, really was too think to offer enough protection, neither was her matching hat, which was fluffy and warm, but didn’t stop her ears from freezing. She had a moon shaped necklace on and a small bracelet, all last minute clothing from when Duvessa somehow managed to convince her, and another girl, Caoimhe, to take a walk outside with her.
Why had they wanted to ‘take a walk’ in such frigid weathers, Lilliana didn’t know. It was a ghost town outside, looks like other people had the common sense to say inside, which brought back the question, why were they here? Duvessa began talking and Lilliana had to really try to focus to hear what she was saying over the wind. She mentioned not wanting to be overheard, and she didn’t like others snooping. A good place for not wanting to be heard. Lilliana told herself while shivering, Is by a fireplace in the common room. Or in the privacy of a dorm. The first year huffed.
Then the other girl, asked Duvessa why she didn’t want to be heard. “Solid question.” Lilliana murmured, “Seriously, why don’t you want to be heard?” Lilliana asked. Caoimhe asked what they were doing here, and Lilliana nodded, hard. “Come on, my toes are numb! Lilliana said, wiggling her toes, and shivering for extra emphasis. A particularly sharp gust of wind that made Lilliana cower from the cold only proved her point more. “Of all the places you had to go, it had to be a place as freezing as this!” Lilliana sighed, shaking her head slightly.

After a couple of silent moments, Duvessa was bombarded with questions - why on earth were they meeting HERE? In all of the places? Duvessa easily answered.
Interacting with @Caoimhe Kyle & @Lilliana Havemore
"Well, remember how you too always were bursting to ask me who my crush is?" She asked, going slightly pink. She hoped that they would think that it was because of the cold weather.
"Erm, anyway, and I though that since you two are my friends, I should tell you." She said quietly, and lowered her voice ever so slightly. "It's Nico Cirillo."
After she said that, it was embarrasing to admit this, so she looked up on the white treetops instead, hoping that she could turn over that subject smoothly soon and then walk happily back to the castle to roast some marshmellows.
"Sorry for the cold weather, Lils, Cai." She remarked, as she tugged her coat around her tighter. But then she knew that her friends were not finished with that probably - they might as well start questioning her again.
The treetops around her were groaning under vast amounts of snow, as Duvessa feasted her eyes on them, and then on the lake. It was like a huge ice scating ice ring.

A Frosty Lake
Caoimhe was perplexed that she was being pulled out of this location for such a senseless purpose; she adored her companions, especially Duvessa, and would lay down her life to protect them. Caoimhe considered hurling Duvessa into the lake if she didn't love the girl, as she felt enraged that her training time was being squandered and mulled chucking Duvessa into the lake as a one-time exception.
The wavy haired girl would raise an eyebrow as Duvessa uttered the lad's identity in such a hushed manner as if it were the deepest revelation that not even Merlin could know. What was this absurdity, and how could Caoimhe escape this situation while maintaining her sanity?
"With all due respect, Essa, you're going to make me pull a Winchect," Caoimhe teasingly threatened, but there was some seriousness to her statement based on the tone in which she uttered them. The only thing she disliked more than arrogance was wasted time. And thirdly, being cold. "Who the hell is Nico?"
Certainly Caoimhe had met a number of people in her short months of her time at Hogwarts, some students of whom she respected more than others, but the name evoked no memory. Not even a negative recollection conjured. If Caoimhe did not know a person's name, it usually suggested that they were a just another nobody. And Caoimhe did not enjoy associating with nobodies.
But nonetheless there should be a reasoning for this, or something Caoimhe could do to render this encounter worthwhile. "Well, Essa, I'm happy for you. I'd like to meet him one day.." But perhaps not too soon; Caoimhe would be infuriated by this encounter for some time and shifted the blame to a certain boy Duvessa was infatuated with. Caoimhe also had a confession that she was anxious to disclose as well sometime, and if Duvessa was going to be addressing her secrets in front of the icy backdrop, then she was going to do the same thing feeling it to be a safe time to do so in the same hopes of obtaining a second viewpoint or an excuse to dismiss her feelings.
Obviously, Caoimhe did not want to announce her secret in the bitter cold, but doing so in the common room or anywhere else in the castle posed risks. Caoimhe was eager to escape the cold and warm up next to a fireplace, but the name she would soon mention was a popular individual. And the last thing Caoimhe desired was for others to discover her innermost, personal secrets.
"I actually have a confession while we're out here.." Caoimhe started shuffling her feet and wiping the frost off the tip of her chilled nose, "I met a guy..Here actually. He's kinda handsome and impressive even, but he's so creepy..and such a," a fucking asshole. She desired to say to finish her statement, but cut herself off before she could audibly allow herself to curse. Her features lighting up with intensity behind her words, "I wanted to punch him over and over when he speaks sometimes, but I'm afraid I'll break his pretty face," She didn't know his last name, and there was several Avery's in the school. Hopefully this would help keep some anonymity towards the guy she referenced.
Of course it was a jest, or at least a partial one; she would one day defeat him in a duel for his audacity. Audacity, that's the word. How could the same guy who evoked such unexplainable emotions also be the person she detested for his brilliance and audacity? Why did sparks appear when her eyes meet his? It was like a cat-and-mouse game, but Caoimhe felt trapped in both positions. Always on her toes, never knowing what to expect next. Caoimhe was unable to explain her sentiments about Avery. He was the kind of person who made her feel incredibly uneasy, but someone she appreciated for being real. Authenticity was not a virtue among their age group. Caoimhe felt oddly mature for realizing this attribute at such an early age, yet it was something she would respect in others who shared the same quality. Hopefully her friends could enlighten her or explain these feelings she had?

A Frosty Lake

───── Lilliana was freezing. She was sensitive to the cold-- but this, this was a whole other level. Her pearly white teeth chattered, and her whole body shook every time a small breeze passed. Her feet had become numb ages ago, and her legs felt like they would collapse at any moment. The first year began wondering how flushed her cheeks must be. Lilliana shivered again, a set of tingles rushing through her. What did Duvessa have to share that required them to trek out here, into the cold depths of winter?
Well, Lilliana didn't have to be left in suspense for long, because Essa had answered the questions the two girls had flung on her. She told the two that her crush was someone named 'Nico Cirillo' or something like that. Lilliana's shoulders slunk slightly. She had no clue who that was, but it seemed to make Duvessa blush. Caiomhe then voiced the question throbbing in her head, on who this person even was. Lilliana nodded in assent, "Yeah, I've never heard of him before-- what's he like?" Lilliana asked, trying to put a picture in her mind.
Cai had talked about her crush as well, and Lilliana laughed a little at the last part. "That's great, both of you!" Lilliana said, remembering to put a grin on her face, but stopping mid-attempt after her face wouldn't cooperate to forming a smile. "I'm so glad for you both. Though, next time, try finding a better place to share the news. Perhaps next to a cozy fireplace in the common room?" Lilliana joked, winking at Duvessa, though there was some truth to her words, she was afraid that if they stayed out there for too long. their lips would turn blue.

Duvessa listened to her friends questions and replied quite simply.
Interacting with @Caoimhe Kyle & @Lilliana Havemore
"He's cute. And nice." After a couple of moments, Cai also confessed her crush.
Avery.....Avery Leveret that smirking boy she had sometimes seen around.
"Leveret?" She said curiously, "And has he....asked you out yet?" Duvessa whispered, her eyes alight with mischief but also as round as galleons. She wondered about him, and only had a vague memory of him.
The wind whistled once more, and Duvessa gestured back to the school building.
"Back to warmth." She said, and sighed contentedly. She waited for Cai to respond but meanwhile threw a question to Lils.
"What 'bout you, Lils?" She teased, as she looked around to see her friends face. But just at that moment, another freak gust of wind slapped her in the face and she said.
"Let's go."
She made her way back to school, thinking over their conversation. That went well; and she would have to introduce Nico to Cai and Lils one day. One day; she reminded herself, and her mind turned over to Avery.
"D'ya mind if I meet him?" She asked Cai after a moment of silence. She wanted her best friend to have someone nice, and was curious to see who Avery Leveret

-----Caoimhe heaved a sigh and shook her head as she wrapped her arms around herself and tried to speak her chattering teeth. She began her response with an expression of distaste on her face as she stated, "No, no -- I shouldn't have said anything because I don't know how I actually feel. It's just a little bit confusing, you know? He's competent. But he's conceited and a jerk. There are a many more better and attractive guys though," She giggled softly as she prodded Essa with her elbow as they made their way toward the castle.
"You can still meet him though.. just don't say anything. About me. About this conversation. I don't want it to turn into something its not," Or for him to find out and reject her, or use it as ammunition to get under her skin more than he already has. The notion of dating a person like that was repugnant to her; she had no possibility of envisioning herself partnering Avery Leveret in the future in friendship or more.
The only thing that burned in her mind regarding the boy was the a scenario in which they dueled each other and Avery was defeated, owning up to his own wrongful doubt or assumptions about the girl. Given that she had so much work she needed to complete to enhance herself and prepare for dueling club, she just did not have the time or energy to bother with relationships. Anything else would merely serve to divert attention from the her work, and Caoimhe could allow that.
"But Nico, has he asked you out yet?" she inquired watching for any cues of expression on her pale features. Caoimhe longed to get the topic off of her, off of Avery, but it felt good to say it out loud.
The cold would grow intense during the walk, and Caoimhe would begin her back to the castle to warm herself in the dorm.

───── "He's cute. And nice." Duvessa responded, rather vaguely in Lilliana’s opinion. The first year was attempting to envision what this Nico Cirillo seemed like, though she was having a bit trouble with that. Lilliana was eager to see how the two would interact around each other, and if Essa was any different around them than she was around Lilliana and Cai.
Although Lilliana wanted to inquire further, another cold breeze rushed by, and she said hurriedly, “Well, that’s great! I can't wait to see them for myself...” Lilliana exclaimed, her words slightly muffled by the breeze, “Does Nico know your feelings for him? Lilliana inquired intently. When Caiomhe had informed them of her crush, that Leveret boy she had sometimes seen around the common room, Duvessa asked if he asked her out yet. Lilliana peered at Cai’s reaction for this, wondering how she would respond. In the meanwhile, Essa threw Lilliana a question that caught her off guard.
“What 'bout you, Lils?" Lilliana bit her lip at that, and she could feel some of the color drain from her face. What about me? Lilliana thought to herself. Lilliana felt that her feelings were murkier than her friends’. She had never really identified herself having a crush, but as she gave thought about it, there were two people who kept on crossing her mind. André she’d met on the train, and he had seemed pretty nice, did her feelings stretch farther than friends? Then there was Oliver. He was sweet. And cute. And Lilliana sometimes could feel her heart do a tiny flutter when he smiled~ That probably was a crush.
But before she had the chance to answer, another patch of wind slapped them, more brutal than the gusts prior, making Lilliana grit her teeth and made her hair cover her ears. She wondered if they would notice her being unresponsive about her crush question -- She knew she was subject to further inquiry soon enough, but might as well delay it for a bit. Luckily for her, Caiomhe responded to Duvessa’s earlier question about their crush, “Concieted jerk,” Lilliana echoed, in a murmur. She winked at Cai, “Well, that's certainly interesting,”
