Nora hurried down the long corridors, rushing to get to class. She was already a minute late, and getting there was a lot harder than she thought. With moving staircases, and trick doors, the place was like a maze. And now... Now, Nora didn't even know where she was. Stopping to catch her breath, she pulled out the map of the school another Slytherin had drawn out for her to the best of her ability. It was nowhere near as good as the famed Marauders' Map and was mostly from memory, but it usually worked okay for Nora. Not this time.

No matter how she looked at it, she couldn't even guess where she was. Nora had come from Potions, and halfway on her way to her next class, she'd realized she'd forgotten her bag there. On an unpleasant journey back up from the basement, she'd opted out of her normal route, instead choosing a winding corridor that was marked on her make-shift map as a shortcut. The only problem, as always, was the stairs. They had a habit of moving, and by the time Nora got to them, they were gone.

It was frustrating, yes, but Nora couldn't turn back now. She was already late, and she didn't think she'd be able to figure out a good enough excuse for missing another class. Dejected, she looked around for another student. Did anybody ever go down this hall?

───── Yes, Hogwarts was indeed a glorious place. High ceilings, amazingly planned out architecture, extravagant chandeliers (she did have a thing for chandeliers). But, it was a confusing one as well. The first year found it a little hard to navigate around the school when the staircases moved and portraits talked animatedly amongst one another, their loud drawling voices making it hard to focus. The atmosphere tended to be chaotic, you never knew what you would encounter in the halls of the school.

Lilliana had never found the corridors to her liking, the place was too hectic for her taste normally. Students milled out and about, the corridors were a crowded area, and many students were prone to shoving. But today, today was different. The halls were way less congested than it normally was. Lilliana would have normally been relaxed at that thought, strolling calmly, taking her time to make it out of the corridors. The problem was-- she was running late! She had got lost (once again) in the vast space of the school.

Sighing, she leaned against a wall, her back sliding down it until she was sitting on the ground. She had to figure something out. Should she just ditch class? The more time passed, the more that seemed like a logical solution. She didn't want to show up late to class. A bunch of students staring at her for all the wrong reasons, not to mention, she probably would have made her way over to the professor's bad side. But, she couldn't just abandon class like that. How would she even show up the next day? Lilliana sighed, putting her fingers to her temple, trying to find a solution.

She then spotted something. Someone else! Lilliana grinned. Finally, somebody was there, maybe they could help her find the way to her class. Lilliana quickly stood up, brushing herself off momentarily before approaching the other person. The first year had to try hard not to sprint toward the other person, though she still walked fast. "Hi," Lilliana said, briskly, remembering to put a smile on her face. It would be more likely that they would help her if she smiled, right? She began to talk, her words pouring out, "Uh, do you know where--"

Wait a second. They looked like a first year, like her. What would a first-year be doing roaming around the halls when they should be in class? She groaned, "Don't tell me you're lost too." If the other person was lost too, she wasn't sure if they would be of much help to her. This was getting more annoying by the minute. The blond-haired girl crossed her fingers that the other student knew their way around the school better than she did. If they were both lost, well, Lilliana wasn't sure what to do anymore.

Startled by the voice behind her, Nora spun around. Mistakenly, she had thought she was the only one in the desolate halls during class time. However, Nora was wrong and the other girl... was also lost. Oh well. It wasn't the saviour Nora had been hoping for, but maybe they could find away to class together, if they were even headed in the same direction. They probably were, Nora reasoned, as the girl was also wearing green robes and looked around Nora's age.

Unless she was headed to the infirmary? Or the headmasters' office? She didn't look injured, but you never know. And as for the second option... Well, it's always an option, especially in the Slytherin house where mischief is at a high. Nora could relate to that, but she also figured most Slytherin wouldn't be caught. But if they were probably in the same class, Nora wondered why she'd never noticed the girl before. Maybe they had different friend groups?

Without realising it, Nora started to assess the girl. She was a paler blonde, with long, straight hair that went past her shoulders. She also had pretty eyes, specked with green and blue. Nora admired this trait in particular, because while she loved putting on contacts with exotic colours, it never looked quite like the real thing. Otherwise, the girl was slim, and maybe a few inches below five feet in height. Realising that she'd been staring, Nora cleared her throat.

"Yeah, I'm lost too." She said briskly, thinking it better to answer the girl's question before asking any of her own. "What class are you headed off to?"

─────Lilliana looked the girl up and down after they had spun around. They looked vaguely familiar, the two hadn't met, but she may had seen them sometime earlier, perhaps in the common room, maybe? The blonde-haired girl didn't have the best memory, but looking at their robes proved she was right, as they were Slytherin, like her. The most striking feature they had was their hair, which seemed to be dyed purple. They stood a couple inches taller than her, like most people, and they appeared to be a first year.

She watched as the other person’s spirits sank when Lilliana mentioned she was lost, which pretty much settled the matter. They both were lost, unsure where their next class was. It was more than halfway through the school year, how could they both have been stranded in the middle of the hallway? She hadn't gotten much sleep earlier, which probably explained why she had forgotten the route to her class. It didn't stop her frustration, though. "Yeah, I'm lost too." They said, confirming her thoughts. Great. Just great.

The purple-haired girl asked Lilliana what class she was going to, to which Lilliana responded immediately, “Charms,” She said. It was on her scale of classes which she didn't mind, she found the subject fun and interesting. It wasn't the kind of class she would be alright missing, which added onto her frustration. “What about you?” Lilliana asked, furrowing her eyebrows a bit as she asked the question. Her stance shifted slightly, into a more casual standing position; Leaning slightly on her left leg, and crossing her arms comfortably.

“What’s your name, by the way?” Lilliana asked. She wasn't the best when it came to remembering names, and she felt like she might forget theirs in the future if they met again that is, but there wasn't any harm in asking. “I'm Lilliana, Lilliana Havenmore,” She said, debating whether she should extend her hand for a shake or not, but decided against it. The first year wasn't in the mood for a formal greeting.

They'd barely been speaking for a minute, but Nora was already starting to worry. She needed to get to class, but if neither of them knew the way, then it was next to impossible in her mind that they ever would. Especially at Hogwarts, she thought sardonically, School for Mazecraft and Trickery. But at least they were going to the same class, Nora reasoned as the girl answered her question and met it with one of her own.

"Same, I'm also in Charms," Nora said quickly, relieved beyond measure. It was one thing to work together towards a common destination, and quite another if they were to split up. Seeing as she was long late for her class and hopelessly lost, she couldn't afford the latter. If she was back in Queenstown, at least, things would be much worse. Imagine her father finding out about a thing like this? With a shudder, Nora could almost envision the fight that would ensue.

Lost in thought, Nora almost missed the girl's next words, as she introduced herself. Lilliana, her name was. Nora liked the name, it was elegant but also young at the same time. Nora didn't always love her name, and often created fake names that she would go by if she had to. Oona and Violet were her favourites at the moment, but they often changed over time. Just last year, Louise was her top pick.

"I'm Nora De Carie, but you can drop the last bit," Nora replied, tucking a strand of her hair away, "Just Nora is fine." Wincing, she realized she'd kind of led herself into a trap. The sarcastic response of "Hello, Just Nora" was something she'd always hated, but that hadn't stopped anyone before. Even her parents did it, without realising that it made Nora's insecurities prick up. Of course, Lilliana didn't know this, so if she replied in the usual ironic way, Nora couldn't blame her. Even she caught herself doing it sometimes to others, not that they usually cared.

───── This was getting frustrating. The hall Lilliana was standing in was unfamiliar, different. She hadn’t ever seen this part of Hogwarts until now — and from her experience so far, she wasn’t liking it. Lilliana preferred everything to be scheduled, and in an orderly fashion. Not, whatever this was. Should I try retracing my steps? Lilliana began to mentally sort out her options, No it would probably make me even more lost than I already am, Lilliana bit her lip, shooting down her proposal. What should she do?

"Same, I'm also in Charms," The other girl had said. Lilliana blew out a ton of air. At least she wouldn’t be getting through this, endeavor of sorts alone. Besides, it eased her conscience that she would be walking into Charms with a companion. Maybe the punishment they would receive wouldn’t be as harsh because there were two of them? Chances of that were slim, but it still produced a sliver of hope in Lilliana, which she hung onto. What she knew for sure was that this situation got a little easier with this new revelation.

Lilliana couldn’t help but grin. It probably wasn’t the best time or place to do so, but they had a chance! Chance of what? Lilliana wasn’t quite sure. Though two heads were better than one. But, Lilliana pursed her lips together hiding the fact that she was a little more at ease now. “Some good news, finally,” Lilliana drawled, in a tone that sounded more bored than relieved, “I won’t have to face the professor alone at least,” Lilliana pondered. She brightened up at that, but her face quickly retracted into a solemn expression, “If we even find the class, that is,” Lilliana added to her previous statement, a small sigh escaping her lips.

They introduced themselves as well, as Nora De Carie. Has a nice ring to it, Lilliana thought to herself. “Nice to meet you then, Just Nora,” She said, winking without thinking about it. After realizing what she had just said, Lilliana felt like groaning. Now wasn’t the time for playfulness, she had a class to get going to! But they were practically stranded, in the middle of an empty hallway, other than the two of them. There wasn’t much else to do.

Except find yourself a way out of the situation! Her thoughts had chided. Right. Lilliana questioned, “Er… How exactly are we going to get out of here?” She said the word ‘here’ as if it was some foul creature. She glanced around the hall furtively, searching for ideas, but her mind was blank.

Seconds were passing by the pair quickly, and the stress of it all added a nervous tremor to Nora's already tapping foot. It was something she did when she was nervous, that or rubbing her fingers together. She would do it all the time, if it weren't for her father. Irrational movement was something he despised, preferring to keep completely and entirely still himself. Nora couldn't understand how he could do it, stay so motionless, and she probably never would. While it drove her mad to keep still, it drove him mad if she didn't. And of course, it was his will over hers, so she contained herself. However, at Hogwarts, she didn't have to. Not like that was some big triumph or anything.

“Some good news, finally,” Lilliana drawled, sounding somewhat bored, “I won’t have to face the professor alone at least,” she continued, “If we even find the class, that is.”

"Indeed," Nora sighed, "And the chances of that seem to be getting slimmer and slimmer..." Somewhere far off, Nora couldn't almost hear a clock ticking.

“Nice to meet you then, Just Nora,” Lilliana added with a wink. Oh, for goodness sakes... Did everyone have to do that? Nora nearly rolled her eyes, but reasoned against it. Lilliana obviously meant nothing by it. “Er… How exactly are we going to get out of here?”

"That's a great question," replied Nora, shifting her gaze towards the multiple exists in the corridor. Each one looked as good as the next, and she couldn't barely remember which one she'd entered from. Were they even on the right floor? Probably. Maybe. Okay, most likely not. For all she knew, they weren't even in the right school. "And one I do not know the answer to. I guess we could retrace our steps? Do you recognize anything in this hall?" She sighed, reviewing the doors again. One of them was arcahed, and soemthing about it stood out to Nora. As she examined it, her brow creased. "This looks kind of familiar..."
