| ─── | Kim finished Taizu's sketch.
He then flipped the sketchbook page over and now began to focus only on Eun-ji and Monica's duel. There were 2 pages he would be working on simultaneously, as it was the same match but different sketches. First, he was focusing on Eun-ji, mostly because she was a huge reason as to why he was there. Eun-ji was doing well and had adopted a good strategy with her partner. After all, Cynthia wasn't experienced when it came to dueling and also was a first year. So it was understandable she wouldn't have the stamina that veteran duelists would have. Deciding to heal her partner had been the right choice for the girl to make now. Kim was impressed by the amount of health she'd managed to restore to Cynthia. But then again, Eun-ji had been working on her healing spells over time. They should be really good, or else she was doing something wrong with her time. The blue haired teen continued to sketch out the duelists, especially Eun-ji, as the match continued on. Eun-ji had cast an interesting spell and Kim made a mental note to research that particular spell for later use. It might be a fun one to do on his own, if Kim could manage to learn it himself... More interesting spells were taking place too. Monica ended up casting the Dancing Feet Spell, which always looked kind of funny to him. Oddly enough, Cynthia ended up casting the exact same spell on her too. Both spells went through and now there were two duelists dancing lithely out on the piste. It kind of made him want to join them because Kim had always loved to dance. The next round ended with none of the duelists able to hit eachother, so it was kind of anticlimactic. Once again, Eun-ji healed her partner but their opponents continued to target Cynthia. Starlee seemed to be the most threat against her, as the damage seemed to be worse when hit by her spells... But perhaps that was just a fluke. Eun-ji seemed intent on continuing to cast the Tongue-Tying Spell at Starlee, which might have been a good idea. After all, Monica kept seeming to miss her spells and Starlee kept hitting, so it stood to reason that the latter would be a bigger threat for now. Kim was a little torn as to who to 'cheer' inside his heart for because he was fond of Eun-ji and felt closer to her than most people. But at the same time, Monica was someone he'd grown to enjoy being around too. Couldn't both of them win???? Kim finished his sketch of Monica. Now all that remained was to finish the one of Eun-ji, which was taking much longer than the other two. Mostly because he wanted to get this one perfect for her and to capture everything about her in the process. After all, Kim was a perfectionist and when it came to people he was close to and knew a lot about, he wanted what he did to be 100% perfect. Eun-ji ended up focusing her attention on Monica, while Starlee was fighting the spell preventing her from casting any spells of her own. That was smart. Go after the 'weaker' of the two. Not that Monica was weak but at this particular time, such a thing was true. A sigh escaped his lips.. If the target hadn't been Monica, Kim would have cheered her on. But as it was, Kim could only hope for Eun-ji's victory and that Monica wouldn't be too hurt later on. It had turned into quite an active match. He glanced over at Lucia again. The huff she'd made earlier made it all the more obvious to him. The snort heard after his last words made Kim's lips twitch a little. Lucia thought she knew everything, did she? Well, he couldn't blame her for thinking that way, after all... Kim stopped the thought before it could go anywhere. He didn't know for sure. Kim only suspected, so he shouldn't say anything that might have unintended consequences. But educated guesses usually turned out correct and he was fairly certain he did know a little. Not that he'd be able to say those things to Lucia. Not right now at any rate. Still, he couldn't help but give some cryptic words of his own. "True. But sometimes the words we say aren't actually what we mean..." Kim said and refocused his attention onto the remaining Eun-ji sketch and the matches that were still ongoing right now. How would this turn out? How would all the matches turn out? Who would win them in the end? |

DAY 2
Damion was eagerly watching as the match progressed. It was almost at the end now. One more round and it looked like Kim and Rose had managed to survive till the end. Which meant that his closest friend and his partner had lost the match. He had watched his closest friend, Hades fall unconscious.
Date: 29th January '23
Afternoon Slot: 12:30 - 13:30
Match 5: Rose Moon & Kim Sato vs Callista Lovis & Hades Schweighöfer
Damion was still rooting for Kim to win but it seemed like that was going to happen and real soon. Since the match was in it's Round 9.
Damion smiled as he watched Kim doing better and better. Not that he was not hoping that his friend, Hades would have done the same. Damion didn't want to be in this situation ever again. He didn't want to keep putting his friends over each other. Hades vs Kim had made it really hard for him to choose whom to support. Kim, his boyfriend and Hades, his closest friend. So that was a tough call. To be honest, he wouldn't want to do this ever again.
It would break him to choose between the people he cared for. Hades or Kim! Damion had hated that he had to even think of choosing between the people he had cared about so much. Hades has been his friend since forever and Kim had just entered his life a while back. But he was so taken by Kim.
It passed you up and slipped you by. But we're all bound to end up back to where we started

Lucia was fed up with all this cryptic talk. Why couldn't people just say what they meant, rather than hiding it behind a veil of 'maybe's? By the point, all the duels were reaching an end. Nessie called time on Eun-ji's duel, the Ravenclaws suffering a defeat even though Eun-ji didn't appear to have gained a scratch. Then, a shout caught Lucia's attention. The moderator for AngelFyre and Emma was standing on the piste, declaring the winner. Lucia cheered for her teammates as the lovely thrill that she associated with victory flushed over her. She wasn't even jealous that AngelFyre and Emma had succeeded where she, Lucia, had failed: duelling was a team sport, after all. She just hoped that the Blazing Badgers would keep a hold on their position at the top of the leaderboard. Maybe, just maybe, this could be their year! With the new league system, they were certainly doing better than ever before.
It was all over. Duelling was fairly short compared to other sports, but its aggressive nature made it ideal for brief matches. "Well," Lucia said to Kim, getting up from her seat and very purposely not looking at Eun-ji, "maybe actions speak louder than words." She pushed her hair out of her eyes. Long hair was pretty, but it was so annoying sometimes! Lucia occasionally had fantasies about cutting it all off... but it was never serious. She liked her hair, and its slight impracticality was worth it. "I'll see you around, Kim." Before Kim could say anything else, Lucia turned and exited the duelling club, silently vowing to stay away from that boy if she could. He unnerved her.

DAY 2
[ Morning Slot ][ Match 12 & Match 4 ]
{ @Bridget Collins & @Astrea Soliel Neptune}
{ @Eun-ji Lee Hunt & @Starlee Kennedy & @Monica Evans }
His reason for being here? Because he’s bored. He would insist that it’s definitely not because of some boring reason like supporting friends. It’s not like he had another thing going on. His duel had ended yesterday, and there was no need to prepare for the next one until a while later. Why would he need to over exhaust himself again? Taking it easy meant visiting other duels and laughing at anything remotely funny. Hilarious things can happen during duels. Especially when you’re not the one being laughed at.
In the morning, he would observe two specific duels. Match 12, with Collins and Neptune. And Match 3, with Twinkles (Starlee) and the.. The new kid whose name he forgot. Mona Evans, was it? Anyway, she was fairly new so he had yet to annoy her during practice. He’ll be sure to do that if she hasn’t run away after this duel.
Two of those matches were up against formidable foes from the bird house. Unsurprisingly, he knew one opponent from each of those matches. Having a history of duelling with them in the past. It was a bad history, of course. Resulting in his ego plummeting. So it helped kept his interest in the ongoing duel.
He was generally a sore loser after all. But still, he was curious to see how his old opponents would do in these rounds. Stewart was…being as intolerable as most seniors are. Being older certainly had perks, ones he will happily roll his eyes at. How dare she become such a good duelist. At least he knew it would be unlikely that he would have to face her again. It would be such a pain.
The slytherin’s in Match 12 weren’t bad at all..for the most part. They were just going through… a lot. For numerous times, instead of laughing, Hanako felt more like squirming at the events that transpired in the duel. Thats the senior leagues for you. Blasting spells he had no idea even existed, fierce tension, and tides changing left and right. When he had started his duel, he was upset he was put in the junior leagues as a 4th year, but he supposed.. Well.. if it saved him for that kind of fate, then maybe it wasn’t all that bad.
Jee, maybe Hana could lay off on his joking during the next practice for them. Nahhhhh
He had to take a lot of breaks from the intense duel and focus on the other duel instead. Which turned out to be much more chill. He had the fortunate event of teaming up with Starlee once, so he was eager to make fun of her if she lost this match too. It might be extra difficult now that Ironwoods was Co-Captain, but hey he won’t know if he never tried. He found himself curious to how Kennedy was feeling about going up against Hunt again.
From his memories, Hunt was an annoying little bugger. Constantly dodging out of the way before their spells could even graze her. He was quite mad at her for a while after that, but it’s been a while since he even thought of her. But he couldn’t help but find similarities between their duels. Older 4th year with a kid as a partner, battling against a 3rd and a 2nd year. She seemed much kinder to her partner than he was, for sure. Yesterday, most of his rounds included arguing with Fowl over who got the Hufflepuff’s attention the most. Even when they did help each other, it just encouraged more bickering. Should he be jealous of how chill her duel was? Nahh. His duel was rather noisy but he wouldn’t trade it with the world. A fact he’ll safely keep away from Fowl’s knowledge.
The first few rounds ensued and Hanako kept his eye. The sight of dancing certainly caused him a little chuckle. Definitely more lighthearted than Match 12. Midway through the rounds, however, Hanako found himself directing his attention away from the slytherins he originally came here for. Instead, his eyes were somehow magnetically trained onto one of the Ravenclaws. In particular, the 4th year that barely moved a facial muscle since the beginning of the duel.
“ Hmm… yep. Definitely still my type “, he admitted to himself in a low mumble. Hey, a guy gotta be honest when he can. It wasn’t like he was her opponent. Though he doubted the fact will change even if that were the case. It wasn’t even surprising to find himself taken in by her graceful nature. Oh well. It’s not like his interests last long.
But wait, by the 8th round he was hit by a sudden sense of nostalgia. What a lovely coincidence. His partner suffered a mighty fall right about this time as well. For a little bit longer, he would allow himself to feel sympathy for Hunt. But by the growing grin on his face, his sympathy didn’t last long.
Okay, when he said he got over his lost in their previous duel, it didn’t mean he wouldn’t feel satisfied seeing her lose. A predicament that he could not see happening to the Ravenclaws in Match 12.
Now this could be fun to see~
And to no ones surprise, Slytherin won. To honor their celebration, Hanako gave Starlee and her partner a slow clap. Doubtful she would even be able to see him. He was one of the more subtle cheerers among the mass crowd of slytherin supporters. Guess he won’t be making fun of them this time around.
His eyes then directed back to the Ravenclaw that lost, feeling a sense of achievement seeing Starlee avenging them (he was aware that was not her intention) . It would prove to be difficult trying to gauge out her thoughts. Maybe he’ll find amusement in poking fun at her instead. Would she slip out her frustrations? The imagination of it sent a low amused chuckle from him. We’ll see.
The other duel, however didn’t seem to be in the position to celebrate. His shoulders tensed at Ravenclaw’s announced win, showing a more reluctant display of slow claps. Yea, okay , the birds won. He’ll make sure to behave a bit more for the next few practices.
[ Afternoon Slot ][ Match 9 ]
{ @Ileen Knight }
Afternoon Slots, tired him really. This would have usually been the perfect time for a nap. But here he was, watching people he knew sling spells at each other. It surprised him that he knew most people who participated in the afternoon slots. However, Match 10 had everyone he disliked, and Match 5 had Ironwoods moderating it ( and he was not so keen on paying attention to anything they did ). In the end, he merely focused on just one match: match 9. With Martin and Knight, fighting against… whoever those birds are. His memory was not the best. Except that nimble looking fella. He looked familiar… but whatever.
He was mainly here to see Knight fall on her face. Was it going the way he expected? Not necessarily. It was an…interesting match to see. The duels he had seen in the morning were totally different. This seemed to be a delicate balance between tough and..predictable. Even if he was here to see Knight fail, he couldn’t help but be interested in their display of skill of everyone involved. They all had different skill sets, all so interesting to see. He had to admit… this actually kept him on his toes.
Knight was not doing so well in the 4th round. Being on fire so much? That has got to hurt. But even he couldn't suppress the impressed smirk on his face. He had known her to be a resilient sort of person. And with the nebulus, they certainly knew what they were doing.
But against all odds, it was a win for the Slytherins. The effects of victory showed on Knight’s face, and unbeknownst to Hanako, he mimicked a gentler version of her proud smile. Well done, Knight. Unlike Starlee and Mona smthsmth, she wouldn’t receive a clap. The last thing Hana wanted to do was to have her notice him. It was easier to receive a clap than a genuine smile from the boy. And considering their… relationship, she’d deserve just as much. Especially after being on fire for so long. With the duel finishing, Hanako dragged himself out of the dueling room. The sight of Knight’s smile still stubbornly attached to his mind. Well, she was a pretty girl. He wouldn't deny that. Alas, she was off limits for a multitude of reasons. And he was too lazy to make their relationship more complicated than it already is. Still, maybe it wouldn't be so bad to come see her duel more often. It’s not like she’s going anywhere. This victory wouldn't be her last. He could take his sweet time.

| ─── | The matches were over!
Kim couldn't help but think about his own match, how would things go for the Lions this time? After all, the last match Kim had been part of he'd needed to sacrifice himself to save his partner. It was the strategic thing to do because his partner had more health than him. But what he hadn't expected was for them to lose regardless. It was a loss he hadn't really come to accept deep inside, although on the surface it appeared as if he had done so. Kim's next match would be taking place shortly after the morning ones concluded and since Eun-ji's duel had been in the morning, that in turn meant his was coming up soon now. Glancing over at Lucia as she spoke to him again, giving him some last minute words, Kim nodded. He didn't say anything more. Mostly because there was no need to do so. He had nothing further to say right now and the matches were over, so there was no point in lingering now. A sigh escaped his lips and he wondered what the true story behind Eun-ji and Lucia really was. From what Charlie had told him, her life away from Hogwarts wasn't that good. The closer he got to her, the more he found out about her unfortunate situation. It really was a shame. One of these days he'd see if he could help patch things up between the two girls. One of these days. He glanced over at the piste where Eun-ji was stepping down from. She'd managed to survive the entire match without getting hit once. Quite impressive. Or perhaps not? The girl's opponents only seemed to have targeted her partner and not her, maybe they'd tried to go for a technical win. Rather than an 'in-your-face' win, confronting your opponents directly. There were many ways to go for a win. Kim let out a sigh and got up, putting his sketchbook back into his satchel. Puffie hopped onto his shoulder, sensing they were leaving. The pink puffball had hopped onto the edge of the seat earlier but had resumed his earlier position within a few seconds after having left. Kim headed over to where Eun-ji was to meet up with her. |
