The amount of formal wear the Saskia family had was always shocking to Ciel. Being the youngest and therefore not being able to attend many formal events, it was no surprise when Ciel only owned a few dresses or tuxedos, and definitely no formal shoes. For the most part, she could get away with a good shirt and her own fancy cowboy boots. They weren't for riding, but they still looked cute when they were pink!
Her mother (though it wasn't her permanent job) was also a seamstress; any kind of clothing Ciel wanted, Isabella could make with ease. Well, maybe except for aprons. Ciel always found it funny that her mother could make complicated patterns with lace but struggled with even a base color apron. Buying from someone else was always the easiest option with them.
"Oh, I was just talking about what we should wear at the ball! My mom is a seamstress and all that jazz, so if you wanted to wear something specific, I could always ask her to make something for you!" Ciel stretched her back and then spoke again. "But I also just have a lot of formal wear at my house- my mom likes to go to those antique stores and buy out their clothing collection. I can't tell you the number of times I've been roped into going on a shopping spree with her!"
Ciel sounded annoyed with her mother, but she didn't really mind it. Though it was obvious that her and her father were closer, she still loved her mother more than she did her brother's! There was nothing like spending a day at home, lazing around and hanging out with her mum while Isabella made clothes or cooked dinner.
"I'm excited to be going to the ball with you too, by the way," Ciel chirped. "I bet my family will be ecstatic that I'm actually going to the ball at all!"
Thinking of her family suddenly made Ciel remember something. She had totally meant to pack her bags for the upcoming break! It was still quite a few weeks away, but she had a habit of meaning to pack something and then not packing it at all until the last second- and she was not about to do it for this break.
Quickly, Ciel turned to Val and grabbed her shoulders. "I have to go back to my dorm! I completely forgot to do something!" She paused, still holding onto Val's shoulder, and then pulled the Ravenclaw into a hug. It was quick and Ciel was jittering as she did so- but she did it! She hugged the pretty girl! Way to go, cowboy!
Once she let go of Val, Ciel took off at high speeds back to the castle. Partly because she knew if she didn't leave immediately, the thought would leave her mind, but also because if Val saw Ciel's face, she'd think that Ciel was a tomato!
Ignoring her red face that felt like a jalapeño, Ciel pressed a hand over the lump in her pockets, making sure that Ginger Ale was still there. Once she felt the grey rat, she let out a sigh of relief, and then put her hand onto her cheeks. How was she still on fire?!
