Kim was one of the three students in charge of moderating duels in the unofficial 1v1 dueling club. Cash, his somewhat friend, was one of them and also Damion, who was the leader of the club. He'd never really moderated any kind of duels before. The Spider Game at his Halloween Bash had been the closest he'd ever come to doing so. But that hadn't really been a duel, even an unofficial one, because they hadn't used spells but rather threw fake spiders. So, this would be his first time trying to do one. Hopefully things would work out for him this time but who knew?

He'd been asked by Damion to take care of his duel and he'd accepted. Upon getting to the aforementioned location, he discovered who Damion's partner was. It was a friend of his, Hades. Someone that Kim had seen around before too. But he'd never actually met him. What was strange was that Hades wasn't moving to get onto the piste. Damion had walked up and was waiting for him to do the same but Hades seemed to have frozen on the way to the piste. Could it be that he hadn't expected to be paired with Damion? "Please take your position." Kim told the teen.

Eventually, both boys stood on the piste, and the duel was ready to begin. Kim gave the signal for the duel to start and stepped back to put enough distance between him and the duelers. "You may begin!" He told them and waited to see what spells would fly from the very start and who would make contact with their targets. Unfortunately, it seemed as if both boys were experiencing nerves. Neither one of them made an attempt to cast a spell at eachother and Kim wondered if it was because of who they were to eachother. A sigh escaped his soft lips.

"Forget about your friendship, this is a duel! Only focus on the duel itself, please." Kim told them.

Would the two boys be able to do as he'd asked them to? Or would they be caught within their own minds and never be able to get a spell off at eachother because they didn't want to hurt the other one?

Fine! Yes Damion had frozen at first. How could he attack someone he called a friend. He didn't know how he was going to do that. But he was still going to do it. He looked at Hades and smiled. He turned to Kim, yes the guy he was crushing so badly on. He was not sure if they were ever going to be in a relationship but yeah he had a huge crush on the Younger Gryffindor.

He looked at Kim as he heard him speak. Kim was right, they had to focus on the duels and nothing else. He just hoped that Hades would understand this that Damion had nothing against him. He was just hoping that this duel wouldn't put a dent in their friendship. He didn't want that to happen at all. He looked at Kim once again before looking at Hades.

He was going to be ready to duel against Hades. He knew that he wouldn't like doing it as Hades was a good friend of Damion. He wouldn't want to hurt him but still he had to. This was a duel. Not an official one but still it was a duel. He was going to do better now. "Good luck!" He said softly to Hades.

This was definitely his first duel, but what really screwed him up was that it was against Damion and that made concentration very difficult, because he didn’t like to hurt his best friend. But a duel was a duel, right? Honestly, Hades wasn’t quite sure about it because the duel seemed to have a kind of fine line between friendship and rivalry in a duel. But when he thought, he should not show so otherwise his friends could use it against him in official duels. No weakness was allowed.

His blue-gray eyes stared at Damion, not realizing he had skipped the first turn. Wait what?! Had he forgotten the first turn? Perhaps the effect of friendship could have been much stronger than he had imagined. Hades snapped his tongue when Kim called him out and Damion’s. Apparently both had the same problem, which was a relief to see that they had a similar problem. He had to control himself better to prevent this from happening again. He wanted to carry the Hufflepuff pride.

The badger grimaced with his tongue and nodded “Good luck to you too, White.” he said with a sly grin, unable to help it. Why had this suddenly become fun? He shook his head and set out to be ready, he lifted the wand and bowed. Now Hades seemed to have returned to normal and did not seem distracted by the growing friendship between him and Damion. His friendly expression slowly turned into the most intimidating. He was thinking about which spell to use.

Round 2

Damage: 100 + 8 (Damion's AP) x 10 = 180 HP

Kim was glad the two friends ended up being able to put aside their feelings for eachother and treat this as an official duel would have been. After all, you could still be friends with someone but beat them in duels. They were two completely different things, regardless of whether you won or lost the matches. All participants needed to be aware of the distinction between the two when taking part in an unofficial or official dueling club such as this. If they couldn't handle it, they had no business being in such a club in the first place. Dueling was a rough sport for some.

Not everyone could handle it and what it brought to the table. As the two boys took to the stage, Kim let his blue eyes flicker over them. They looked evenly matched to him and the winner could be either one. But it seemed as if Hades was going into serious mode and Kim was curious to see what would come of this. What feats of strength and skill would the Hufflepuff be able to show them today? He didn't have to wait long to find out as Hades quickly took the initiative and cast Lumos Maxima at Damion. Unfortunately, Damion was expecting him to make the first move.

He seemed to sense the incoming spell long before it reached him and was able to avoid it with ease. Instead, Damion cast one of the more popular spells duelists tended to use all the time at Hades. Flipendo was a very effective spell and although it didn't give any debuffs to anyone, it dealt a decent amount of damage when it hit its target. Perhaps it was because his own spell had been avoided with ease and it was messing with his head right now, but Hades wasn't able to dodge Damion's spell. He took a decent amount of damage and was knocked back a step.

But it wasn't enough for him to lose his balance, or to fall onto the floor.

Damion would have to do better than this to achieve that result. However, Hades probably wasn't going to allow him to get that far, this failure would only serve to further push him to achieve great heights. The match was far from over and anything could happen. The tables could turn when you least expected them to. Who knew who would come out on top as the winner... only time and luck would tell these two boys. "Fighting!" Kim told them both, raising his voice a little, encouraging both participants to do their best! Duels were actually pretty fun to watch and even mod...

Damion was not paying much attention to the person who was moderating this said duel other wise he might be distracted. Oh yes since it was Kim who was moderating this duel. And Damion had a HUGE crush on the guy. Anyways letting those thoughts out of his head he focused more on Hades.

"Flipendo" Damion cast the spell that had hit Hades. I am sorry Hades Damion thought as there was nothing else he could do about it. He was not trying to hurt his friend much but still this was a duel and he would have to cast spells at his opponent.

Damion had been able to dodge the spell that Hades cast.

Damion was not trying to but his mind would go back to Kim. He shook his head gently as if he was trying to find his focus. He didn't want to be too distracted so that Hades would be able to hit him with a spell. That would not be good. Thought Damion had nothing against Hades mind you. But he was still hoping that he wouldn't be attacked by he guy. Damion looked ahead at Hades with his eyes squinted and frown on his face. He was trying to concentrate.

The first to attempt the spell was Hades, and he did not expect his rival Damion to have been expecting him to take the initiative. Was it quite obvious that he would be the one to initiate the casting of the spell? He was slightly confused after seeing his friend and rival dodge the spell. That was not pleasant to see. But it wasn’t pleasant watching his friend get hit by a spell either, right? Just as soon as the duel was over, Hades could check on Damion to see if he was okay, depending on who was gonna win.

Damion then casted the Flipendo, who ended up hitting Hades. He wasn’t strong enough to make the badger fall but he was strong enough to take a step back. He left a soft growl as he looked at his friend “I guess you had your first luck.” he commented as he regained his composure. It wasn’t as hard as he had hoped but at least it didn’t hurt as much. Hades snapped his tongue as he looked at his friend “We still have a long way to go to finish this apotheotic duel.” commented with a satisfied smile.

Hearing Kim’s voice and saying fight, he made the boy look at him scowling, asking what need to fight when both of them could enjoy this. I mean, they could be serious about this but have fun too. He would in no way end up mad at Damion for doing something he was also doing. He shrugged and looked at Damion “Let’s go for the next round?” he asked while smiling, ready to know what kind of spell he would use against Damion. He hoped his friend wouldn’t get hurt too badly at the end of the duel.

For once, Damion was not completely focused on him, something Kim had come to realize after quite some time. But he chalked it up to Damion being interested in learning from him or just the way the boy's personality was. He was glad Damion was focused on the duel and his opponent, that was the best course of action to engage in. If Damion's attention had been on him, Kim would have reprimanded him because that was not the proper behavior to have when engaged in a duel. If you weren't 100% focused on the duel and your opponent, things could go wrong for you.

Not just with your spells but with your ability to evade attacks. Both of which were extremely important. It seemed as if Damion had his priorities straight and Kim wished him luck in whatever duels he participated in later on. Hopefully, the boy would be able to win some, if not all, of them. This particular duel was very interesting, as he knew both of the boys. Damion, who he'd gotten to know throughout his entire first year, and a 'friend' of his... vs Hades. The latter of which was someone he'd gotten to know almost at the end of his first year at Hogwarts castle.

Someone who he'd discovered to actually be considered family during the 2022 Sato Yule Ball.

Now that had been a shock to both of them at the time. Ever since then it had been a little 'awkward' so to speak.

But it was better now. They'd had time to come to terms with the revelation. Kim watched as Damion sent off an Incendio Duo towards Hades. Unfortunately, the spell ended up missing his opponent, the fiery jet of flame shooting past Hades with the boy not even needing to dodge. At almost the same time, Hades cast Metelojinx at Damion. Unlike Damion's spell, Hades's spell went off without a problem and a few seconds later a small rain cloud formed above Damion's head. It looked very foreboding and dangerous. "Great job, Hades! That's a cool rain cloud!"

"Watch out for lightning strikes, Shiro!" Kim commented and waited to see what would happen next. It didn't seem as if the lightning would try and strike this time but by the time the next round came, it was obvious it would try and strike whoever was below it. What would the unofficial duelists cast for the next round? Would a push-and-pull emerge between them over the rain cloud Hades had created? Would it be put out? Or would it be ignored in favor of casting other spells? Only time would tell what would happen and Kim couldn't help but be curious about it.

Damion looked at Kim well of course, how could he not. But then focused on his opponent, who was one of his closest friends. He didn't want this to hurt their friendship. After all this was a friendly duel of sorts. Maybe... maybe not.... he shook his head as he tried to think of something else other than the fact that he was hurting one of his closest friends. He didn't want to keep thinking of that. He was sure as hell that he wouldn't do something like this on purpose. But this was happening because they were in the Dueling Club and were paired against each other.

"Incendio Duo" Damion cast at Hades. In his mind he was hoping that that spell didn't hit his friend. And voila! that is what happened. The spell didn't hit Hades at all. Damion smiled as he looked at the unhurt Hades. Part of him cared for the friend who was his opponent right now. He couldn't deny the feelings of being close to someone like that.

Damion was hit by the spell that Hades cast. "Damn! Ouch" He said looking at glaring at Hades. He was not trying to be mean about it but damn boy; he had hit him with a spell. Well it was a game of chance; whether the spell hits or not. "I will get ya in the next round." Damion said glaring at Hades.

Tension increased until Hades was possessed by the competitive spirit he had every time he played a sport or activity. The worst way to activate his competitive mode was when he realized he was losing... From his concentrated expression it turned to a satisfied expression when he saw that he had cast a spell properly and now his rival seemed to have a rain cloud above his head. Hades snapped his tongue as it was he who had managed to do it but not Damion. Did he feel guilty? He wasn't very sure.

He gave a guilty smile as soon as Kim congratulated him on the spell, causing him to tip slightly “Thank you very much, Kim. I never thought the result would look like this.” commented, being observant. Now that he had noticed it himself, the cloud was well formed and a considerable amount of rain fell. Maybe he should add a little competition to this? Oh hell, yeah! He looked at Damion “Have you wet enough with the rain, my dear friend?” he asked in a playful tone.

Hades ran his hand through his hair and bit his lower lip, having remembered that his friend had a huge crush on Kim and perhaps that would play in his favor. He was ready for the next round, and this time he looked more encouraged and motivated to do so. He smirked, “I advise you to focus all your attention on me, Little Minion. Otherwise you will be distracted.” Hades said, as if speaking in some sort of morse code, to make him understand what he had said. He was sure he'd catch that.
