It was a nice cool overcast day, the clouds made a nice shield for the sun’s rays making it comfortable being outside. The winds made the leaves of the nearby trees dance and sway in a very calming fashion, once particular tree had a large dense crown that shielded a person sitting beneath. She was a first-year student still very new to the wizarding world, but her experience so far with Ravenclaw had been very pleasant. Still she was use to her own room and so sharing a bed room with other students had taken a while to get use to, so to get her alone time she had made a habit of exploring Hogwarts with her guitar over her shoulder to find places to relax.

She had been by this tree for maybe an hour just enjoying the wind and the cool air on her pale skin, she had done a little reading but what she mainly had done to pass the time was play her guitar. Since her old mp3 played didn’t seem to want to work while on school grounds she had begun to play her guitar much more than she would normally, it had been great practice and good exercise for her fingers. So as the wind began to pick up a little she began to play a new song, a happy little song she heard before leaving for Hogwarts. With the rhythm of the wind and trees she song found it pace and put a small smile on Alicia’s lips, this was bliss for her nice and calm. As she sat there she wondered what the rest of the year would be like, and how many more surprises could the school throw at her? all she could think of what her mother saying that it was a magical place, and it had certainly lived up to that reputation.

Alexx sat near a vacant part of the grounds, one many kids didn't venture towards. It was soft and quiet, and blue eyes peered at an even bluer sky, watching the white tuffs float about. There was nothing unusual about her bring here; she often found silent places to escape and relax.

But the soft strums of an instrument, a sound carried to her in the wind, met her ears. It was a ways away, not to close to her, but close enough for her to hear. It wasn't uncommon to run across a fellow musician, and she had certainly met her fair share. But the blonde girl couldn't recall if she had ever met someone while they were playing. Her curiosity got the better of her, and thus she emerged from her hideaway, her gentle footsteps padding against the still wet grass from the early morning mist.

As she approached the rhythmic sounds, she found a girl who bears the gift of music, and her weapon of choice placed softly in her hands. The music was heartwarming, to say the very least. The feeling of finally hearing live music paraded across her skin, sending an excited shiver up her spine. Alexx couldn't help but tap her fingers against her leg.

The light, which was just above being a warm golden. but not quite a blinding white, placed a soft hue around Alexx's face, to which she squinted her eyes and moved forward. Unsure of how to approach her, she decided to take the easiest way and walk right into the performance.

Her ears perked up as the tune continued, and suddenly, she felt as though her surroundings were unreal. She was lost in a trance. Though she wanted to speak up, she was sure that the girl would notice her soon enough. After all, she didn't wish to interrupt a good performance.

Sorry that it's so short! I'll write more as the plot thickens, I promise.

Alicia was not always the most observant person in the world, and with her focus on her guitar she didn’t really notices someone approaching at first. Her fingers continued to move up and down the strings plucking out the melody, it was a nice relaxing feeling even if it was difficult getting all the notes right. But eventually the song had to come to and end, the melody concluded and was replaced with the sound of the wind. While stretching out her fingers Alicia yawned a little before finally noticing someone nearby, she froze for a moment not knowing how long the girl had been there.

After a few seconds of staring Alicia finally came to her senses, it was just a normal person after all, well normal was a relative term here but still. She put the guitar up against the tree she was resting up against, then very careful waved as a greeting for the apparent Slytherin student. She had mostly been around people from her house, but she didn’t hold any ill will against the house of green. Still she was a bit surprised at the sudden arrival so words did escape her, but hopefully the girl knew the wave was a greeting. She must have heard the music or something like that, she had attracted attention that way in the hallways when people had felt bothered by her melodies.

The blonde girl emerged from her spot in the shadows, where she had ended up standing, seeing the musician wave her over. Hesitant and unsure, she stepped closer towards the now apparent Ravenclaw.

She had stopped the music, slightly to Alexx's dismay, but if it were for the sake of making friends, who were she to argue? She approached the black-haired girl with a warm smile across her rosy cheeks, which had turned pink thanks to the slight breeze in the air that was just enough to send goosebumps running up her arms.

Clearing her throat a little, words began to come out of her mouth without her knowing. "Hello," she began softly. "sorry if I'm interrupting, I just heard you playing, and-" awkward as ever, Alexx cut herself off to blush at her own awkwardness.

"I'm Alexx, by the way." she mumbled softly, looking to the ground. She kicked a pebble aside with the toe of her scuffed shoe, huffing a little.

A change in mood would have been appreciated, but Alexx didn't know what do to or say. She was an awful mix of introvert and extrovert, which left her with nothing but the inevitable reality of the present; her being embarrassingly problematic.

Though most people learned to work around it, and she made friends very easily these days, the first few sentences were always tricky. She never knew what to say. But it was true! She had heard her playing, and Alexx had a hard enough time as it was finding fellow musicians outside of the rehearsal room! It was a nice change of scenery.

Another golden hue danced around her again, and the once black aura now felt as though it were pink, the current shade of her cheeks and neck. Though the aura was invisible, and but metaphorical, a brief thought crossed her mind about what would happen if people could see her ever-changing mood. The unforgiving and harsh atmosphere she was doomed to carry. But alas, she settled with the pleasant fact that no one could see her embarrassment right now, only feel it.

It was a sad struggle, really. She could only hope that the stranger who represented the blue house would work past it, as most others had. That would be the most relieving thing.

Luckily, her mind did her a huge favor and focused on the way the dust kicked up and then sprinkled back down onto her black shoe as she kicked up another rock, awaiting a response.

Alicia looked equally worried about the encounter, most people who had approached her because of her music had just told her to get lost. But this girl Alexx seemed to have taken at least some interested in her playing, a fact that Alicia was not use to at all.

As Alexx began to introduce herself Alicia felt a rush of anxiousness go through her, this meant that she was supposed to answer back now. With some difficulty Alicia cleared her throat and began “h-he… h-el…lo” her voice unsure and weak, she felt silly for now being able to say a simple hello to someone, but it was what it was. Instead she pulled out the notebook that had saved her hide so many times, and began to write down a proper greeting

Hello Alexx, I’m Alicia Daly. I’m sorry but it’s hard to talk sometimes, so I hope its okay that I use this book instead. and yes i was just playing a little music, its a nice cold day out here.

She finished writing then held out the open book towards Alexx, both so she could read but also as an invitation to step closer. Alicia did not mind that the girl was from the house of green, they were all students at Hogwarts with the only difference being what school group they were in. sure they were competing against each other in the house cup, but that was hardly a reason to feel sour towards each other. So Alicia just waited to see what the girl Alexx would do, it was nerve wreaking for the tall introverted Alicia

THE book back behind him swung gently at the rhythm of is pace down the long corridors of Hogwarts. He was making his way out to the grounds, the library gave him no confidence in capturing his attention. These dates weren't going stick if he couldn't find himself a way to stay still, academics were never something he never could really wrap himself around though. This was the year he needed to do better. Yet since last year, he found his self-confidence toppled by tides of misfortune like castles fashioned out of powdered sand. Routine was mundane, studying, eating, sleeping, waking, he quickly grew tired of it.

THE boy wanted adventure, yet he shirked from danger on instinct. Reid was stuck in the in-between, swimming between pushing or pulling to and from discomfort. But as much as he complained, he didn't realize yet how much he shouldn't wish so hard on the fast life. There was a lot in the world to take in, a lot to experience, all he had to do was listen. So he did just that when a few notes caught his ear, one that made him think twice about wandering on. His stride came to a halt in the grass, the balls of his heel pointed him towards two other students. But by then, the music had stopped.

AT first, he didn't want to bother coming up to them, what if it was rude? That and the boy didn't feel it right to intrude on her, that was until he continued to listen. With a perplexed look, Reid began to slowly approach, standing not too far from the other bystander just horizontally from her. It was enough to not get in the way of the stranger's peripherals, enough for him to simply comment. "That was really nice, I didn't know where it was coming from but since you're holding the guitar ..." He paused, glancing between the two girls. "Do you guys play together?"

"Trouble usually finds me."

Alexx, upon noticing the notebook, stepped in closer so that she could grab it. Reading it's content, she felt slightly better about the situation. She nodded firmly, giving Alicia a soft smile. "Yes, that's fine." She replied in a low voice, handing the notebook back to the black-haired Ravenclaw.

Her head perked up slightly further upon hearing another voice. The panic refilled her, and she could feel her face re-heating.
"That was really nice, I didn't know where it was coming from but since you're holding the guitar ..." He paused, glancing between the two girls. "Do you guys play together?"
Blonde hair swung side by side as she shook her head 'no'. "No, we uhm- she started, trying to speak up a little bit more. "we just met, actually."

The boys face became more and more familiar the longer she stared, but then again, you come to recognize people when you spend a long period of time in one place.

Then it hit her. The summer camp. He had been in her cabin. It wasn't like they had ever interacted, as Alexx rarely ever spoke unless spoken to, a habit she had picked up from her years spent on the run with her family. Besides, it wasn't like she ever had a reason to speak to him.

So she didn't say anything, unsure if he would ever recognize her. Instead, she glanced towards Alicia, wondering how he would take her lack of speech. Alicia seemed nice, and so did the stranger from Hufflepuff (as she had come to realize after finally being able to make something close to eye-contact just moments before, where she had realized who he was).

"But I do play. Just- alone."

Alicia was a first year student so she did not know the boy, but he was from Hufflepuff the same house as her mom so that was something at least. But like Alexx Alicia was uneasy as well, her timid nature was plan as day to see. But timidness was no excuse for bad manners so she waved a careful hello to the boy, as a form of non-verbal greeting.

She observed Alexx for a moment trying to see if she reconciled the boy since she seemed to be somewhat in thought, but she could never get a good read on people. But as Alexx told the boy that they had just met she just nodded along to show it was the truth, still with the boy this far away it would be difficult to communicate with him.

‘do you know him?’

A quick note she handed to Alexx, trying to piece this whole thing together. But this was not in the boy and Alexx’s hand, Alicia did note that Alexx seemed to examine him fairly closely so they must have met a some point, maybe. Alicia briefly considered just continuing playing, but she quickly realized that would be inappropriate.

WAS there something on his face? Reid arched his brow slightly as he grew a sense of familiarity with the Slytherin, vaguely. The cabin, she was in Phoenix with Professor Wright. He didn't stare much though, he didn't exactly feel right to do so and threw her a half smile instead. They rarely spoke and it was a shame, he liked meeting new people and the camp was a perfect opportunity for that. Judging from the Ravenclaw's slight silence though, he might have interrupted something good.

"SOMEWHAT. I met her at summer camp, I think." he nervously laughed. "We were in the Phoenix cabin." An uncertainty mirrored itself in his voice, the young boy clearly wasn't remembering right. But then again, he didn't always have the best memory and really could only recall people by their voices. Reid barely got to hear her speak, he went off of cues. But he realized how rude it might have been to come up, the music stopped and it was just three people talking. He inwardly grimaced and ran a hand across his knuckles.

"SORRY. I didn't mean to stop what you two might have been doing, honest. It just reminded me of something I saw on the telly." Reid shot a small crooked smile, humbling himself to take the next exit out. There was an urge for him to just dash out of there, but he gave it a few more minutes till deciding to properly excuse himself.

"Trouble usually finds me."

"No!" Alexx managed out nervously, shaking her head. "No, you're fine! If anything - I interrupted her." She announced, turning away so that she didn't have to face him. It was a slow process, but she was gradually growing more comfortable.

A gust of wind blew her blonde hair, or in this case, her only shelter, back so that it fluttered in the wind. She huffed gently, pouting a little bit, and then she readjusted her hair so that it covered her face. She wasn't overly fond of people watching her facial expressions, especially not when she was making poor attempts at socializing. It felt nice to be talking to people again, but she also noted it as a big weak point, now more than ever. She bit her lip, hesitant about going on.

"Besides," she started up again, kicking another stone. "We could use the company, right?" She asked, this time looking up at Alicia. The boy, whose name she did not know, had previously answered Alicia's question, much to Alexx's relief. He was much more charismatic than she was, and she was partially grateful for this.

This group, which consisted of a mute kid, a shy kid, and an out-going kid, was odd, Alexx noted. It was truly odd that three people, all on the opposite ends of the communication spectrum, were here having a conversation. Alexx laughed to herself.
