Personality
Estelle was not a happy person. Not usually. She was grumpy and liked her time alone, they were very few people she clicked with, meaning people she actually enjoyed talking too. She would talk as if she was annoyed or angry, but truly, she was either merely bored or sometimes annoyed. She enjoyed giving people nicknames- and spitting them just for fun. Whether or not the nickname she gave you was insulting or not, she didn't care.
History
Estelle looked cute. Kind of. Seemed cute. Sort of. But Estelle Hughes was far from a cute adorable child. She was grumpy and bad tempered and rude. But Estelle used to be a people's person- she used to be the lovely girl her name had given her. But that all ended when her father and mother split up. They left each other. That was the end for Estelle. But the worst was when her mother brought Paul in. Her now step-dad. Could things ever get worse? Well, yes. Things only got worse when she found out Paul had a daughter: Charlotte Jones. Mostly known as Charlie. Estelle hated Paul, she hated Charlie. They weren't the person she hated the most, though. The first person on her 'I hate you' list, was a particular boy. A boy she hated very much.
Philip McDorkFace.
First Instance of Magic
Estelle had her first magical encounter when she went to the park at nine years old. She strolled into the park which she loved- it was empty and mostly abandoned. She wore her usual sweater and a pair of shorts, despite the slightly chilly weather. Estelle went immediately to the swings, her favourite part of the park. She was in a better mood than she had been in days. Until she saw Philip. On her swing. Estelle hated Philip. He was horrible to her at school; he had stolen her favourite water bottle, copied her homework and told the teachershe copied his homework. Now he was on her swing? Not today, Estelle thought bitterly.
"Hey, DorkFace!" Estelle called to him, "that's my seat your sitting on. So, get off."
Philip looked up without the slightest shown of interest- but if anything, he grinned.
"Oh hello. Didn't expect to see you here, Fireball. But uh..." Philip feigned innocence and looked around the swings. "This isn't your swing. It dont got your name on it."
Estelle balled her hands up in a fist, trying to keep her anger at bay.
"This is my swing. And you are at my park. So I ask you for the last time, get OFF!" Estelle stomped her foot on this last word- she was barefooted, but she didn't care. But as soon as her anger rose, it faltered. As Philip when flying from the swing, but landed unharmed, in a bush.
"What are you...get away from me! Don't hurt me...please."
Philip was begging her, but Estelle was barely listening, she was looking at her barefoot.
"Sorry, sorry. Sorry Phil-" Estelle ran home, she ran as fast as she could, arriving at her house, Amy, her mother, was cooking, she asked her stressing daughter what was wrong- but Estelle didn't answer.
"Mom, I think I...I made DorkFace fall out of the- the swing! With my foot! I think I'm magical!" Estelle blutered out. Amy looked concerened.
"Essie, dear, magic doesn't well, exists. Why don't you go talk to Charlie about this?" Amy said lightly, with a small laugh.
Estelle didn't respond, instead she gave her mother a cold look, turning on her heel to leave the room.
It was only on Estelles eleventh birthday that her mom had to come to terms about Estelle being a witch. But it was all absurd, Paul and Charlotte weren't to know, but they were told anyway. Estelle was later sorted into the house of the Wampus Cat. However, she was also concidered by the Horned Serpent. But she followed her heart, choosing the Wampus.

Estelle had a goal to make others feel bad. If it was something small, or big, she could make you regret you ever said or did that thing. But she wasn't always too bad, it was when her parents left each other that made her have a certain distaste for seeing people happy. Every morning since she was eight, she'd see kids being dropped and picked up from school by both their parents. Or atleast they all talked like both their parents live with them. Whilst Estelle, stayed with her mother and her father was very absent from her life, and when Paul moved in, something occurred to her; it wasn't fair that people got to laugh while she had to deal with Paul and Charlotte at home. It wasn't fair. From then on, it was Es's life mission to be rude to people. At school, kids didn't even approach her anymore, because they learnt well to leave Estelle Hughes alone.

Estelle knew her purpose and she knew she didn't like people. Was it because of her parents divorce that she was unhappy with her life, really? Yes, partially. Because the few occasions the small girl tried to make friends, she was shunned out. She wasn't a cool kid. Even the teachers didn't like her. The young redhead who sat in the back of the class, who never bothered to answer any questions in class. The young redhead who sat by herself at lunch. But did she care? Not the slightest- but for a while, she wondered why she had such a sharp tongue, why she always pushed people away. Why, whenever someone approached her, the first thing she does is make the person leave her alone, and they left her alone alright, they left in tears.

It wasn't just her peers she was rude to. It was also her family. Austin (her father) was the only person Estelle had ever felt close to. And he wasn't there. Even her mother, Estelle talked rudely, acted like she cared about nothing in the world. Estelle couldn't be ruder to Paul and Charlotte, she hated the pair. The day they moved in, even Charlotte knew that she wouldn't manage to be friends with Estelle, just from the aura the young girl radiated when she walked around the house.

Over time, Estelle got used to the fact that her presence was so intimidating, as matter of fact, she liked it. As long as people stayed away and she got to have things her way, things didn't turn ugly

There are loads of words used to describe Estelle. Quiet, stubborn , sarcastic- the list goes on. But there is no word more fitting than sneaky. Quiet she may be, this worked mostly in her favour. In her younger years, she had learnt to use her sneak abilities as a weapon to listen in on things she wasn't supposed to. Learn information that wasn't meant to be common knowledge. All she had to do was walk as quietly and stay in a well distance, keep in the shadows and it was easy. Of course, their were occasions where she'd get caught, but that didn't deflate her will to keep doing it. She was stubborn that way.

A good example of retrieving priceless information was when she in fifth grade. Young Estelle was just recovering from when her dad moved out. She was doing reckless things- doing stuff without thinking. One of those reckless things was walking into her classroom during lunch. Now, what may have been so bad about walking into a classroom? Well, it might not have been so bad if two teachers weren't gathered at a desk, discussing the test that was meant to happen the next day.

Estelles ears perked upon hearing 'test'. Estelle was no cheater- no matter how bad things went, she usually chose to play fair. But, she reasoned, what did they say about opportunity? It only knocks once. Once it appears, take it. And that was exactly what Estelle planned to do.

Estelle moved to the corner of the room soundlessly, close enough to hear snippets of the discussion, but far enough so the two teachers couldn't notice her. The whole time she was there, she only took in break when necessary and was so, so scared of getting caught. But when the bell rang and the teachers left the room, she couldn't believe her luck. But was it luck? Or pure skill?

As she grew older, she didn't really feel the need to overhear conversations anymore. But she did it for fun anyway. Estelle mostly just snuck around the house, hoping no one would notice her when she got out of her room. It was so easy sometimes, that Estelle will perhaps be in the kitchen, quietly minding her own business, while the rest of the Jones would be in the living room. Amy would literally jump back when she noticed Estelle huddled by the cabinets. Estelle would raise her eyebrows and grin slightly at this. Points to being as gracious as a cat, she reckoned.
