Soon to meet @Alana Dibble

Once upon a time there was a young dhampir who had put off his History of Magic essay about the Medieval Assembly of European Wizards for far too long; so long, in fact, that it would be due in class the very next day. If he wanted an attempt at getting full credit and high marks for this essay, he was going to need to complete it that evening.

He worked as diligently as he could, as his mind kept wandering. The word "medieval" kept sidetracking his thoughts - placing it on the upcoming Blossom Ball/Spring Dance that was medieval in theme. With the theme now common knowledge, there was quite a lot to accomplish! He had to think of a way to ask his girlfriend (maybe according to theme, maybe not) as well as figure out attire.

Would a medieval knight be best or more like a soldier? Or should he go an entirely different route?

Simon shook his head, knowing that these details didn't matter right now. What mattered was the Medieval Assembly of European Wizards and he needed much more than that they were a group of European Wizards who assembled....medievally.

He smirked a little at that thought and knew that the professor would never appreciate such a simplistic and obscure description and got to work. Luckily, as he began to write the words flowed more quickly into sentences and the sentences flowed more quickly into paragraphs, even over some chatter from the next table over.

Finishing his last word, he placed the cap back on his inkwell and slipped it, his notebook, and his quill back into his satchel before finally granting some attention to the outside world. A group of first years seemed to think it was somewhat amusing to be knocking books off the shelves as one of the school elves tried to ask them to stop and seemed to be getting quite flustered - which only added to their amusement. Book after book, story after story, fell to the ground with a THUD, THUD, THUD!

"Hey now, go on. Can't find anything better to do with your time than this? Don't be so pathetic, now," he said to them as he came over near where the elf was, attempting to pick up a stack of at least 10 books. The first years seemed as though they wanted to say something but didn't and left, maybe because Simon was a third year, maybe because Simon was a prefect, or maybe because something just seemed a little off right at that moment about the Hufflepuff. Simon ignored them now that they were leaving and took all but the bottom book from the elf. "I've got these and the rest. I can place them back where they belong."

Alana was standing nearby noticing a book at her feet that the other first years knocked over. The young red head made a tsking sound under her breath. The one thing that bothered the young red head was when people abused books. They be inanimate objects, but they still have some type of feelings after all their made from love and thoughts. The young red haired girl walked over deciding she should at least help the older boy in front of her. Alana glanced over at the boy sheepishly smiling handing him the book that landed at her feet.

"A lot of first years just do not understand how to respect books now a days it seems such a tragedy really? I mean honestly books are amazing they send to another world or even better help you learn new things. Like spells or even history! History is amazing?! Don't you think"

Alana started rambling which is an extremely bad habit of hers. She blinked a bit before realizing that she was just rambling and forgot to introduce herself. Again the young girl kept smiling more in embarrassment this time more then anything.

Oops sorry! I totally forgot! My names Alana! Whats your name if you don't mind me asking?!"

Being the forgetful type Alana is she held out the book more almost like one would do for a simple greeting or a kind gesture. Still with her trademark smile on her freckled covered face.

Introductions with @Alana Dibble

Simon let out a sigh. He was frustrated at what just happened because he didn't like there to be chaos in the school's Library. The school Library was a sacred place for him - one where he could go for studying, expanding his religious understanding, researching, reflection, contemplation, making out, gaining knowledge, finding more about the magical world that he was now part of, and to build friendships. If they wanted to toss around something - go to the Quidditch Practice Pitch or somewhere outdoors, maybe even the Courtyard, but definitely not this space.

They had left though and it was peaceful once again. He gave a smile to the house elf, once again encouraging her that he got this and she gave him a small nod in appreciation before going back to probably a task list that she needed to tend to. He looked at the spine of the top book in his hands and then scanned the shelves to see where it belonged and was just placing it into place when a redhead came to his side.

"It's not even always First Years. I don't understand it myself but agree - books are amazing," he smiled to her. It sounded like a Ravenclaw thing to say but somehow she didn't strike him as a Ravenclaw. Not everyone who had an appreciation for books had to be one - there he was with a strong appreciation for the bound pages and he was a golden badger.

"And I also agree, History is amazing, as is gaining new knowledge, as well as the classics. Nice to meet a fellow lover of books," he said and extended out his hand to take the book she had in her hands. He placed it on top of the stack he had that would probably be pretty heavy for someone, but he was effortlessly supporting it with one hand.

He smile at her introduction and then held out his hand to her. "Pleasure to meet you, Alana. I'm Simon. Simon Kincaid. What brings you to the Library this evening?"

Alana glanced up at Simon smiling brightly taking his out reach hand and shaking it gently but with a slight grip to it. The young red haired girl examined the library taking in a deep breath enjoying the smell of new and old ink that lingered in the air. Alana was one who enjoyed the company of books just as much as she enjoyed the company of actual humans as well. Alana turned her sea foam bluish green eyes up towards Simon still showing off her trademark grin.

"I had to get away from all the loudness. Though I do enjoy being around lively people I do find books better company some days. Today is just one of those days I believe. Good thing to these books need extra attention now, maybe I'll find one that peaks my interest and I can read it. But then again I really should focus on my studies then reading anything extra at the moment huh?"

Alana sheepishly chuckled to herself rubbing the back of her head in embarrasment. The young girl seemed to get off track a bit before glancing at Simon curiosity sparking in her sea-foam eyes as her grin grew wider if possible.

"May I ask you a question Simon? Are you also in the library just to relax or to study? I would supposed I'm doing both. Studying can be very relaxing but stressful at times as well. Though the brain is hungry for knowledge and one must feed it regularly! That's what my Mum always says. Knowledge is Power Alana use that power wisely. I never understood that phrase though. I mean what knowledge can be so powerful that it could be dangerous. Though I guess I could understand some spells can rather... Dangerous some forbidden even... Oh dear I did it again sorry I get to excited and just start rambling and rambling how silly of me!"

Alana chuckled sheepishly rubbing the back of her head more giving the older boy in front of her time to process everything she just rambled on about. After all Alana figured she should stop rambling while she was ahead after all she did not want overwhelm or annoy the older boy after all.

Re-shelving books with @Alana Dibble

"You call it rambling, I call it no-better-way-to-meet-a-new-friend," he smiled to her. He had already learned that she liked reading for enjoyment, that she took her learning seriously enough to study, that she likes being around others but sometimes just needed some time away, that she was close with her mum and cared what her mum thought, and that she often thought about the magical world with her analyzing of spells.

From his stack, he took off the first few and handed them over to her so she could re-shelve them. "I was finishing up a rather dreadful essay. Bad case of writers block meets procrastination doesn't yield the best situation but I'm happy with what I came up with. I think it should get me a decent mark," but that was up to the professor to decide. He usually got fairly decent grades.

"I think I was more distracted with thoughts on the upcoming Spring dance than I was on my essay,"
he shamefully admitted. Simon glanced down to the book at the top of his stack to read the cover and then glanced up to the shelves nearby to see where it went. It was a popular book that had many copies of the same title within the Library so he knew it would be easy to place back. He found the green binding with the gold lettering fairly quickly and placed it where it belonged.

"Either way, I'm done thinking about both for the evening," he said as he smiled to her, placing the next book back. "Your mum sounds as though she might have been a former Ravenclaw."

Alana grew toothy grin on her freckled splattered face. Her sea-foam blue eyes radiated like a roaring oceans wave crashing into the shore side. Her fiery red hair bounced softly like little ringlets of waves from a waterfall swaying in the breeze. Hearing Simon think of her rambling as becoming friends excited the girl beyond the moon and back. Her soft oval shaped seemed to radiate a bit of over pouring joy and delight. Her wavy fiery red hair continued to sway back in forth with her excitement.

Alana noting that the older boy handed the girl a stack of books she happily took them gently in order to not drop or harm the books any further then they already were. Though the books were not real being and were not animated. The young girl felt as if they still had feelings after all they were made from once living things like trees and all. Alana slowly started to re-shelve the books her ears trained on Simon as he began to speak about procrastinating on doing an essay. Making the young girl giggle softly.

"Writer's block is cruel though sometimes you can get inspired by the things surrounding you."

Alana spoke softly, the girl definitely agreed writers block was one of the most dreadful things to have or even be shrouded in. Though Simon was in the best place to get some inspiration after all. The vast library had plenty of books which could help inspire the older boy. Alana's soft sea-foam blue eyes glanced over at Simon again when he spoke about the ball. The young girl was curious about the ball after all she never went to any dances though she figured she may attend it after all what harm could the ball have. Though the young girl did not know how to make a comment back for the dance Simon continued to speak as he continued re-shelving the books. The question that seemed to make Alana stop in her tracts was the question about her mum. Alana's soft sea-foam blue eyes held a soft gently look to them as she hummed softly a smile gracing her gentle soft features.

"Yeah Mum was a Ravenclaw back in her younger years she has many wonderful stories. It is just amazing to hear them honestly."

Alana spoke softly as her smile still graced her face her eyes sparkled softly as she glanced up at Simon. Though the young girl seemed slightly sad she held more joy then anything after all Alana refused to feel homesick after all her family always told her to be brave and enjoy her school years after all they go by fast. Alana continued to re-shelve the books that she had in her arms. She seemed a bit slow due to the fact she kept getting distracted by all the pretty elegant spines of the books that surrounded the young girl. Alana began to softly hum to herself as her fiery red hair swayed gently behind her with the gentle movement she made when she reached up to re-shelve a book.

Apologies to @Alana Dibble

She began to hum and seemed to sort of get lost in the moment so he left her to it. If anyone knew what it was like to get lost in a song it was Simon Kincaid. If the planets aligned just so and the heavens opened up, he was able to make a breakthrough on a particular song he was working on and just go with it, harness all the feelings and emotions that he had and just create his own certain kind of magic for a moment. If he was lucky, he'd be able to remember it enough to write down the notes upon the staff and record it.

For a moment, he himself got lost in thought. If his mum were still around, what stories would she tell of Hogwarts? What were her best memories there? What did she most like about it? What was her favorite class and where was her favorite place to be in the castle? "My mum was in Gryffindor. Sort of a shame there isn't some sort of book or database or time capsule where everyone writes down their favorite stories of this place. I bet there's thousands upon thousands. I know personally this very room holds some for me," he said, and realized he had interrupted her song and glanced down. "Sorry," he whispered softly; apologetically.

He had interrupted her humming, and with rambling of all things. She had apologized for it earlier which led him to believe she herself wasn't a fan of it.

Alana regained her attention towards the older boy that stood in front of her. Alana smiled brightly as her sea-foam blue eyes sparkled like a ray of sunshine. The fluttering pages of the books seemed to echo around the library around the duo. Alana brushed her fiery red hair back softly behind her ear staring at the older hufflepuff boy in front of her.

"That would be bloody amazing. I honestly love to explore Hogwarts I have heard rumors of many passage ways imagine the secrets that lie beneath the castle or even beyond their is nothing but mysteries in our world. And no need to apologies I ramble a lot to like right now for instance!"

Alana rambled softly laughing melodically at her own little behavior. The fiery red haired girl stared softly at Simon examining his features. The young Gryffindor girl smiled brightly like a thousand stars shining in the night sky as she stared up softly at Simon.

"This room is amazing I quite enjoy the peacefulness most days or it has it's days like today where it is a bit chaotic or more so loud."

Alana spoke softly as a grin grew on her sun-faired skin face her freckled splattered face seem to radiate happiness. Alana's fiery red hair bobbed slightly around as she continued to smile brightly.

Ramblings with @Alana Dibble

"I know a couple of such passageways," he said as he leaned close to her and used a hushed voice. The secret passages were, well, a secret - at least until someone wished to divulge the whereabouts to someone else. He had been shown one by an older student who once was using it as a shortcut from one part of the castle to the next and the other was shown to him by one of his former best friends - a girl with red hair that was a very similar hue to girl who stood in front of him now. Besides, maybe someone who was kind enough to help him re-shelve a bunch of books was just the sort of person that deserved to know of them.

If she'd ask, he'd certainly offer to be her guide.

"It is an amazing room...I've discovered so much about the wizarding world here. I've met friends. I've chased my pet rat more times than I'd like. I've got a makeout corner," and he glanced down the shelving of books after stating that last part. Probably not something he needed to inform her about.

"I've written some of my best essays here, some of my worst. I've worked on my music compositions. I even drafted some of the rough drafts of the first letters to my father here. I don't use the study room...was sort of unofficially banned from there. Sometimes I have a tendency to tap my quill when I'm in thought and the Ravenclaws don't always take too kindly to anything that breaks the stillness of silence."
