Erin stepped—stumbled, really—out of the fireplace, patting her dress lightly to ensure that it had not been tinged with soot or other debris from the travel. Erin had meant to arrive earlier, but her mother insisted on treating this event as if Erin was dining with royalty. Taking pictures, pinching her cheeks, constantly fluffing her dress—Erin actually managed to achieve an eye-roll towards her mother and grandmother for the first time in a long time.

It was a miracle her family had even let her come alone. Sure, the fireplace was an almost immediate exit, but this was the first time Erin had gone to a gathering by herself outside of Hogwarts. Erin's father, of course, vehemently disagreed to Erin going unaccompanied, but to Erin's surprise her grandmother had stood in Erin's favor. Her grandmother argued that Erin was eventually going to need to make her own way in the wizarding world, and she certainly needed to make acquaintances in order to do that. Plus, her grandmother argued it would be good for Erin, a pureblood witch who grew up around muggle society (albeit while still enshrouded by magic), to mingle with other students within the wizarding world for a change. It must have struck a cord with Erin's father, because after that he allowed Erin to finish getting ready, and promptly left to his study. It hurt Erin to see her father react in such a way, but that would have to wait for when she returned.

Erin shook her thoughts and looked around at the interior of the mansion as the house elf lead her to the ballroom. The inside was certainly different from the small, cozy cottage-like house Erin lived in with large, open rafters and a rustic yet modern feel to the inside. Entering the ballroom, Erin took a deep breath and attempted to look for anyone she might find as a familiar face.

Wait... don't be early, don't be late... don't draw attention to myself....
bailey thought, worrying she'd mess it up and lose her friendship with kim. NO we will NOT be letting that happen she thought with a shake of her head. everything will go perfectly. you are a great actress and no one will suspect a thing!
Bailey quit her worried pacing and changed into her outfit. An elegant black dress, black heels, an elegant sleek bun with a fancy hair clip. She pinned her grandmother's fur wrap with a butterply pin that had the only little glimse of color in her outfit besides bailey's bright blue eyes and the gem in her one singular ring. Her earings were a classy and elegant silver piece, and early christmas gift from her father.
When she arrived at Kim's place, she made sure her awe was all internal. She would DEFINATLY freak out later, to Kim, about how HUGE his house was. ITS NOT A HOUSE ITS A CASTLE at this point!!! her mind screamed. Her face was a huge contrast to her screaming mind - her face was the face of calm and happiness, and just a tad bit of boredom. All the boredom and calm on her face were fake.
Entering the ballroom, Bailey held her hands in front of her stomach, clasped together to hide the slight tremble in them. She smiled around the room, spotting lots of familiar faces from Hogwarts and a few that she recognized from the schools that had visited for the HexWizard tournament.
Bailey glanced around the room, looking for someone to talk to, and for Kim.

To say Logan was not a fan of social events would be an understatement, the girl would do anything in her power to avoid theses things. Honestly the only reason she even attended the events at Hogwarts was because of her friends. The Hufflepuff had been forced by her father to attend the Sato Yule Ball this year though, he had previously made plans on going on a date with Elizabeth which left Logan as the one he wanted to represent the family.

The girl glanced down at her dress, brushing on invisible dust to give her something to do with her hands. This really was not her sort of thing and the dress was definitely not something she would normally wear, yet here she was. After having arrived by floo to the correct location, she had been shown to the ballroom by a house elf. Logan glanced around nervously, would be even know anyone that was here. She was not someone who payed much attention to the other students of Hogwarts so the chances of her remembering the names of anyone was slim, and the chances of one of her few friends being there was even slimmer. Keeping to the edges of the room, the girl glanced around hoping to find something to do.

Anna smiled when the girls introduced themselves, and bit the inside of her mouth at Astrids’ casual tone. ‘She used a more casual speech. Have I been making a fool out of myself the whole evening?’, thoughts quickly flashed through her mind, but a pleasant smile remained on her face. “It’s nice to meet you as well”, she relaxed her posture a bit, “How do you like it here? It’s actually my first time attending a ball on my own”. She looked around more spotting a few new people arriving. She recognized one of the girls she met a while back in Hogwarts. Turning back to the sisters she noticed a bit of an uncomfortable mood.

“I love both of your dresses. And your headpiece, Astrid, is gorgeous. Is it a family heirloom or did you have it made for this occasion?”, compliments always fixed the sour mood as Anna had learned. But she felt like she was still imposing on the two girls, so she swiftly excused herself. “I’m going to greet my friend. See you two around”, she smiled and lifted the edges of her dress in an almost bow. The night just begun, if the girls wanted to they could approach Anna and Erin. Speaking of.

“Erin!”, Anna raised her voice as little as she could thankful that she finally recognized someone. She took the girls’ hands and smiled at her. “It’s so good to see you. You look stunning tonight”.

Erin turned, hearing Anna's voice and seeing her as she approached and took her hands in hers. Finally, someone she recognized and knew.

"Anna! Thank you," Erin giggled looking down at her dress. "My Momma had a family friend make it when I received the invitation." She explained, taking in Anna's own dress. "Yours looks gorgeous! I love the sleeves," Erin said with a grin. "Is there anyone else here we might know? I was worried I would be late," Erin admitted, looking back to the door the elf had guided her through. "It was a miracle Papa even let me come at all," Erin giggled slightly.

Erin listened to Anna's responses, glancing to find the snack tables on the other side of the room. "Do you think it'd be rude to get some snacks and a drink before dinner is served?" Erin asked Anna, motioning to the snack tables. "I've never been to anything so formal before, especially by myself. Momma and Papa hate fancy balls," Erin explained quietly. Hopefully her inexperience with formal etiquettes wouldn't land her into being the laughing stock of the night. It was still a ball filled with students, at least, so that had to count for something.

I only watched on as my brother traipsed off, my brow furrowing in concern as I was left to the whim of the flowing and undulating collection of people that were all about me. I felt my eyes dancing about, rebuffed by the repetitive blues, whites, and blacks that formed a pattern intended to confused and make the world appear more of a madhouse than an open and claustrophobia-free ballroom. Voices on all sides of all ages, of rustling dresses and swishing suits, sounds of polite laughter, of glasses and some cutlery.

And I was trapped in the noise, paralyzed with it. I dared not to move, lest I run into someone, I didn't want to stay because I stood awkwardly among only the tallest heads. Feeling my palms sweat, my upper body tense as my chest clenched with the inklings of a fight or flight stress response, I crossed my arms and tried to stomp down the twisting of my stomach as light buzzing began to make itself known in my ears, the uncomfortable tinnitus-- remnant of when I had been struck by lightning almost a year ago-- singing in my ears like a choir of buzzing summer insects.

"Pardon me, young man, but areah you feeling alright?" A soft and quiet voice, accompanied by a light hand gently taking my shoulder by the deltoid pulls me out of my internal storm. Perhaps it wasn't so much the voice's calmness and relaxed regard that had thrown me for a loop, but rather the fact that I recognized a rather distinctive foreign lisp to his words, that particular addition of an attempted -a diminutive to an English word that did not traditionally possess one...

But that would happen to possess it if the speaker happened to be attempting to speak Italian.

My gaze evenly meets with a similarly around six foot tall man with dark black hair streaked lightly with white and grey. His hair was combed in a way that made it seem as if he was trying to hide such markers of premature aging, but had been doing a poor job of it. Judging by his face, he could have been no older than around his mid to late forties, but knowing wizarding aging and the capabilities of 'de-aging' potions, he could in reality be much older. Deep brown eyes matched with olive skin continued to set off flags in my head, furthering the puzzle pieces that suggested that this man was of more Southern European origins. He wore a shining silver suit and pressed white dress pants that caught and reflected even the merest amount of light that struck him, surprisingly simple for what kind of celebration this was. The smallest, almost meekest, smile lifted the corners of his mouth, and his brows were slightly furrowed in concern. "You look like-ah... what do they say in the North... a stag in the sights of hounds."

The slightly incorrect metaphor causes me to loosen up a little bit as I chuckle lightly. "Ah, hm... yes. I suppose that would be a rather good assessment." I speak with a bit of a tremble in my voice. Clearing my throat, I focus instead on the small, thin champagne glass that he held in his off hand and then glance towards his right hand that rested lightly on my left shoulder in a gesture of what I hoped was comfort and not confrontation.

He catches my gaze towards his hand on me and he quickly removes it with a self-chide. "Tch! Ah, forgive me. How rude of me. I-ah, ah... worried that you would be spooked. Yes?" He inquired in his still-soft and quiet voice that rolled quietly with the smallest trills in his inflections. Another smile as his deep brown eyes continued to fix on my with deep curiosity. He sipped a bit from the champagne before setting his gaze and squinting at me narrowly. After a moment of what appeared to be silent deliberation, he finally spoke. "You-ah... have a little foreign accent. Britannico, and-ah... Russo... But... is e'italiano?" He inquired, calmly putting his other hand behind his back in an almost overtly formal poise. He certainly held himself as such, in a relaxed regard but not so stiff that he appeared to have a stick down the back of his clothes.

The question was a bit unexpected, but perhaps it was because I sensed kindred relationship with someone of similar background as me that I responded truthfully and without too much of a hesitation. "Why yes! I am a native Italian. While raised in Motherland Italy, my current home is here in London and I attend Durmstrang in the far north. I suppose that accounts for both my accents." As I speak with a small smile, I watch as the pepper-haired stranger nods slowly with a concerted look on his face. Obviously he finds it intriguing... I suppose he had every right to think so. "Fiorentino, precisely."

The man smiled. "Ah how refreshing. Myself, I am Siciliano; ah... so your land is kicking us into the sea, aha?" There was a chuckle and a bright smile that revealed pearly white teeth as the Sicilian jested lightly with me.

With a smile and a nod, I concur with a small smile of my own, still keeping my arms crossed as I shifted my weight from side to side. While not entirely uncomfortable with this circumstance, I still found it highly unusual that someone the likes of this man had simply randomly walked up to me and struck up a conversation. It wasn't unsolicited... simply odd. But then again, such things were more 'natural' in Italy; people tended to be a good deal more vocal there as opposed to northerners that I had met here. Still... "How did you guess that I was Italian?" I ask curiously, sensing that it was now my turn to furrow my brow back at the man.

"Ah... I see it in your-a face." The man nodded, indicating with the thin glass at my face and general build. "You-ah... stick out like a sore thumb, if I'll be honest." Another smile. "I suppose I should introduce myself. I am Noé Vero; Noé Rocco Vero, yes. A pleasure to meet your acquaintance, Signor...?"

"Marchonné. Romeo Marchonné." I reply.

Noé's eyes brighten a bit. "Ah, Signor Marchonné! A pleasure! I seem to remember spotting a name as unusual as that in the papers recently. Sports player, si?"

I nod; "Quidditch player for Durmstrang, yes."

"Ah, tch!" Noé indicates to me from head to toe. "Well obviously. You are built for such things. And intellectual too. Always important to-ah, have that mixture." He spoke a little quicker, perhaps now that we had exchanged formalities that had now resulted in a kindred relationship between us. "Alas, I was not so fortunate in physicality. Aurology suits me better." Noé shrugged a bit, swishing the contents of the thin glass as he peered into its bubbles quietly.

"Aurology? Seems a little nuanced and difficult to grasp." I remarked, raising a brow. "Divination related, isn't it?"

Noé hummed in agreement. "Yes. Very intuitive-based. Easy to make mistakes. Let us say that I have... a certain knack for such things." He glanced back to me. "I make no brag, but I do thoroughly enjoy investigating the, ah, strange and unusual things." A sigh. "These events bore me sometimes. Too many confusing magical auras for my taste."

"Then why attend? Or are you representing the... Vero family, was it?"

"I felt drawn here." Noé responded coolly. "My family has some ties here to the North, I supposed it would not hurt to attend and clear up any rumors or misconceptions about our families. There is already one other family native to Italy that is under quite a bit of scrutiny, and they are not in attendance tonight despite having an heir living in Scozia Scotland. It does not help our cause." He sounded tired, exhausted almost. "The Chiadovinis have had a difficult time of it in recent years; they are closed off and refuse to let others know what happens behind their walls. Rumors say that their only son was responsible for patricide when the patriarch passed away two years ago." Noé snorted with amusement and he shook his head as his eyes brightened with an obvious look of incredulousness. "Such rumors have been proven untrue again and again... but that does not erase suspicion over the only remaining male heir. Now they are increasing, with a new rumor being that he was cut from the will and the inheritance entirely... and you know how people are-ah attracted to rumors like flies to honey, si?" He waved a hand towards me as if waiting for an agreement.

I shrugged. "Rumors will always be rumors. I'm sure that we all have things floating about all of us that we wouldn't like to hear being said. Doesn't mean that they are true, or that there should be any credence attached to it; at least not until they are proven right or wrong." I shake my head. "People do enjoy a good scandal though, I suppose."

Noé shook his head sadly. "They always will."

We stood in silence for a while longer; Noé glancing about slightly at the rest of the party before shifting his stance and then sighing again. "Well, I will-ah... not hold you any longer. It was a pleasure to meet you Signore Marchonné; a very unusual name but rather pleasant. I will not hold you for any longer." Another pleasant smile as he offered his right hand to me to shake. I took it, and marveled only for a second at how his handshake was firm, yet composed.

I've heard it said that you could tell the character of a man by his handshake. While doing so with Noé, I realized that there was probably some truth to such a claim. I couldn't quite shake off that odd prickle that I felt in the air around him, a sort of electrifying and curious aura that I felt almost radiating off the Sicilian...

As his hand slipped away again, Noé nodded again with a small straightening of his suit's silver collar. His smile faltered for only a second. "I sense you are troubled. Hm..." He pursed his lips. "If you will allow the advice, I have the-ah... impression that something you need to hear is; 'The moment you feel the farthest away from your goals, you are in reality the closest to achieving them'."

Those deep brown eyes narrowed for a second as the brows creased, but then that gentle smile returned. "Again, Signore Marchonné, it has been a pleasure. I'll-ah... not hold you any longer. Arrivederci Italian formal: Goodbye."

"Arrivederci..." I trail off as the meaning of Noé's words start to sink in a little bit. Watching him melt effortlessly back into the crowd and immediately striking up a conversation with another group of partygoers who appear to immediately recognize him as he draws close, my eye crosses a different path, falling instead upon a dark outfit with white tracings (Ginyami) sitting with a very familiar person to me. My breath catches as I recognize my Captain, Valentin Schnell.

And then my heart drops.

Oh.... shhhhhit.

Of all the balls around this time of year... It was this Yule Ball?!

I feel my eyes lock in on his pale argenteum ones, as my hand freezes while adjusting the pale blue suit's gilded edges. My face pales... perhaps not as much as his is... but I suspect that they were close. My heart, realizing it was not supposed to be in my stomach, now chooses to overcompensate and find itself a home in my throat.

Of course I remembered how I had turned down Valentin's invitation to a high profile Pureblood event... it had been because I was nervous that I would drag his name down in the sights of the other Purebloods in attendance if they found out that I was of an Unknown status. Other than Valentin, I would have had no shield from the lashback, and indeed... I may have lashed out myself if they had attempted to harass Valentin under my watch. It had not been a matter of it I had wanted to go to a ball as a social event with my good friend... it had been more of a concern that I would not only bring dishonor on Valentin... but that I would paint a target on my own back in the process.

I hadn't wanted to hurt Valentin. I hadn't wanted my presence to accidentally injure his standing in the Pureblooded world on my behalf.

And now look at how I looked. A total asshole who had shown up to a ball that I had been invited to by Valentin when I had told him myself that I would not be in attendance. Maddie hadn't told us whose party we were attending... I had no way of knowing... I...

I...

The other boy with him, was he one of the hosts of this event? Did he have a relation to Valentin?

Why was Valentin so... roughed up?

Oh God, had he gotten into another fight? Were those soot marks?

Oh my God, you Bludger... what did you get yourself into this time?

I had a lot to explain... I had a lot of questions to ask. It was going to be awkward, it would likely even be dangerous... but I had to know what was going on, what had happened to Valentin. I knew how much he liked to find trouble, to push the envelope much farther than most would dream of to the point of needless riskiness and self-imperilment.

Pushing lightly through the crowd, I try my best to make my way to the corner of the room that the two of them occupied, trying to keep my eyes locked on Valentin the entire time. My heart couldn't seem to decide which direction it wanted to go; up to my throat or down to the pits of my stomach. My mind was racing, and that awful buzzing was back. I could hear my heartbeat as if everything else around me drowned itself out in the party's white noise, as I finally approached the two of them only slightly out of breath only because I could feel the panic rising in my chest.

"Valentin! I-I didn't know you were here; what..." I took in his slightly scuffed up look for a few seconds before focusing on the soot in particular. "What happened? Did the Floo network do all this?" And like all good things, my questions came in threes. "How long have you been here for? I-I had no idea that... oh my God..." I could sense the spiraling of my thoughts heading inwards, slowly becoming less and less coherent. My hand trails to my wand, kept in my inner coat pocket, but then I think better of it as I remember Maddie's warning about magic tonight... I needed to know Valentin's story. If he really was hurt... I would be forced to make an exception...

But I had the feeling that I had more important things to worry about... I glance to the other boy. "Uh, hi. I'm Romeo, sorry. I, um." Realizing that my approach had been rather interposing, I take a step back, closing my eyes and rubbing them for a few moments as I tried to collect my mind. Oh my God, oh my God... This was going from bad to worse so quickly...

Taking a deep breath, I try to reintroduce myself again. "I'm sorry. Forgive me, I got a bit nervous there. I'm Romeo, it's a pleasure to meet you, can I ask your name?" I angled this towards the Asiatic boy. One thing at a time. If Valentin had friends, then I wanted to get to know them as well. If they were valuable to him, they were valuable to me.

... Yet this situation was far from comfortable to be meeting and greeting new friends, if I had to be fair and honest...

Fiona was so nervous about going to the Sato Yule Ball. She didn't like that it was only for those of magical heritage though. It made her uncomfortable knowing that Muggleborns weren't allowed to come. All she really knew about her father was that he was a wizard, but she didn't think it was fair to exclude people because of who their parents were. She didn't understand why the party was so exclusive. She didn't get the impression that Kim was that judgmental, but she didn't know him that well yet. Maybe he had a darker side than she had noticed before. She didn't know for sure.

Fiona had been surprised when Damion asked her to come to the ball with him. She hadn't expected the older student to have taken her under his wing so much. She didn't think he had a crush on her though. Through her observations, she assumed that Damion had a crush on someone else. She was only eleven after all. She wasn't really thinking about that sort of stuff so much yet. She was more focused on her studies and pushing herself out of her comfort zone so that she could make more friends. She really wanted to make friends with people. Damion had helped her do that a little since he was so confident and didn't seem to struggle to make friends. Fiona struggled with this, not because she was hard to get along with, but because she could be so painfully shy.

Fiona looked in the mirror to make sure her hair was still nice and neat. She felt a little uncomfortable with the fact that she was wearing black. It was a perfectly nice color, but it definitely wasn't something that Fiona would choose of her own free will. She preferred to wear soft, pastel colors. But this ball was a black and white ball, so Fiona had to wear something to match the theme. She didn't want to stand out after all. Fiona sighed as she looked at her reflection. She didn't really feel pretty like she did in colors like pink. She relaxed a little, shaking her head a little. There was no need to be so worried about her looks. It wasn't like she was trying to impress anyone really. She just wanted to make friends.

Fiona finally gathered up the nerve to go to the ball and eventually made her way there. She looked around, her eyes wide, as she walked into the area where the ball was being held. She looked around nervously, trying to find someone familiar. She was a little sad that Damion hadn't waited for her to come before he went into the ball, but she was going to try and focus on having fun instead of being disappointed. She looked around the ball, wandering a little as she looked for someone familiar. She smiled as she finally saw Damion, though it looked like he was busy talking to a taller guy that she didn't know. She approached them nervously but noticed that the taller guy had wandered off to talk to someone else. She smiled softly and walked toward Damion. "Hello Damion," she said softly. "You... weren't we supposed to wear black and white to the ball?" she asked, a little confused. "If I had known we could wear other colors, I wouldn't have chosen a black dress," she explained. She just really didn't like wearing black unless it was part of the school uniform or something. "Who is that?" she asked, gesturing towards the tall person that Damion had been talking to earlier. It looked like Damion and the other person had been very friendly toward one another.

Valentin’s mithril eyes darted over Ginyami’s shoulder, catching a glance from little seeker Astrid. He nodded a solemn thanks for her understanding, regretting he couldn't finally show her a nice time at a fine public gathering.

“…Ginyami, I–” started the seeker as the thumping in his chest alerted him of a tall, unmistakable silhouette approaching. Don’t look up, Valik, don’t… Yet an ache bit into Valentin’s throat and, however hard he squeezed his dominant hand, he couldn’t ignore Romeo’s approach. With one foot stepping backwards and its partner following close behind, the seeker’s elbow met the wall behind him. Val had cornered himself, just as he did as a child when stealing a shiny possession and hoping to the highest heavens to be caught rather than given up on. Yet, this time he stood empty-handed with nothing but the truth to relinquish.

"Valentin! I-I didn't know you were here; what… What happened? Did the Floo network do all this? How long have you been here for? I-I had no idea that... oh my God..."

“……………”

Valya’s split lips writhed into a pout as he channeled anger through his rippling forearm and into his fist. He tore his eyes away, unable to bear looking at Romeo nor at the one who happily accommodated Val’s invitation. “…Why are you here.” The statement sounded nothing like a question and left a sting on Val's tongue once fired. The captain had already worked through a multitude of possible reasons only to find each new conjecture more heart-wrenching than the last. For however well Durmstrang’s militaristic training taught Valentin to cope with the pain of burning alive, no fire compared to the agony of Romeo standing so near him now. Val's black slacks whispered a hiss as Val let himself fall back against the wall in a quiet thud. He crossed his arms so tightly that he could scarcely draw breath and, in a last ditch effort to maintain a shred of composure, Valentin closed his eyes and tried to summon a song to listen to inside his head… but only silence came to him.

The only way out is through, Valik. Drink in this moment until it throws us from its grasp. As Valentin’s lips loosened, a drop of blood slipped off of them into a splatter of red on his white cuff below.

“………It wasn’t the floo network, but arson at my home. No one is hurt. You don’t have to worry. I can take care of myself.” Besides, you’re done being an aegis. You taught me enough about self defense last summer anyway. If I’m still too weak to use it properly, that’s only on me. “Romeo, you were right before. Neither of us owes each other anything anymore. Clean slate.” Valentin tossed his head to clear the blades of hair from his eyes, only to free more strands from the crown of his head. The motion flashed a shock of red from beneath his soft milky locks, and as Val’s hand brushed by to alleviate an itch, the splotch of soot across his cheek spread into an arc. The delicate curves of his cheek bones had yet to bear sign of his devastated appetite. “I arrived here at the same time you did,” and I would have left were it not for Ginyami.

Valentin’s head hummed with unsolicited hyperawareness of the moment, and the boy bit into his broken lip as he wondered why that strange feeling would beset him now, and what it even was.

Roleplaying as Ginyami Midorimori from Mahoutokoro
"English | Japanese"
Once Sergei was mentioned, Ginyami softened somewhat. He knew the butler was one of the closest people Valentin had to family left. If he had been in danger, no wonder the seeker had risked his own life to save the man. He looked up and into Valentin's glistening eyes when his hands were grasped, listening to him talk about being a lightning rod for others who couldn't survive the pain and danger he could. In Ginyami's opinion, not everyone who could be saved or spared pain and danger were necessarily worthy of being saved or spared pain and danger. In fact, he thought it best that those who were weakest were gotten rid of as soon as possible, but he knew Valentin didn't see things that way. He seemed to care about people in general; people as a whole. Perhaps Ginyami could at least help him discern when someone wasn't worth sacrificing himself for, but he couldn't talk when it came to people Valentin truly cared about.

"Very well. I will trust you," he said when the pale youth promised he wouldn't throw his life away on a whim. "And I will do what I can to help you learn."

Following that, Valentin answered his question about there being no way he or anyone else could accompany him on his journey to meet his father at the house of his childhood. Ginyami had to content himself with the fact that he would at least be given a more legible copy of the address in case something went wrong. The issue was that by the time it became clear something had gone wrong, it could have been too late to come to Valentin's aid.

He had to wonder what good Valentin thought it would do to send the address to a friend who didn't know the full story or to tell Sergei he was going back to Germany without knowing why or what danger he was putting himself in in doing so. However, at least he had chosen to tell Ginyami what was going on if no one else. The Japanese boy didn't intend to let the knowledge go to waste.

Just as he was about to respond to Valentin's request to trust him and his comment about someone to return to being all that he needed, a new voice spoke the white seeker's name. Ginyami immediately looked up, taking in the tall young man around their age as he started stammering and asking questions, clearly flustered. The pureblood caught sight of the blue-eyed stranger's hand going to his inner coat pocket and inwardly raised a brow, but nothing ended up being withdrawn from it.

Eventually, the russet-haired boy seemed to remember his manners and glanced over at Ginyami, introducing himself briefly with a small word of apology. A tight smile and a curt nod was the Japanese teen's response as he already began to guess at the newcomer's upbringing.

Romeo took a deep breath to recompose himself before apologizing again and requesting to be forgiven, explaining that he had gotten a bit nervous. Then he said it was a pleasure to meet him before asking if he could have his name. A pleasure to meet me? You could at least try to seem like you mean it if you're going to offer such meaningless platitudes...

"Ah...so you are Romeo. I have heard so much about you," Ginyami answered pleasantly, this time bending in a deep bow. "I am Ginyami Midorimori. It is an honor to meet you at last, Romeo-san."

But it had not escaped the noiret's notice just how differently Valentin had begun to behave when Romeo showed up. He kept an eye on him the whole time, watching him just out the corner of his peripheral vision, and his actions practically screamed his discomfort with the situation. At first, Ginyami had thought Valentin's mood when he had arrived had been due to the fire and the mysterious letter from his father, but could this have been the true cause? Could Romeo have been the reason the albino boy had appeared to be brooding not long ago?

In truth, Ginyami was astonished at just how cold Valentin seemed to be towards Romeo in both his actions and his words, especially after Romeo had shown such obvious concern for his peer. He hadn't imagined the usually warm, kind Valentin could have had such a side to him. Still, though, Ginyami had not forgotten what Valentin's letter had explained to him about his co-captain and what had transpired between them.

This? This is the one Valentin declared his love to? he thought, trying to picture it as he watched the pair. When he saw the Turkic boy bite into his already split lip, however, he suddenly stepped in front of him, facing Romeo as if to protect the wall-backed frost captain. His smile remained fixed on his face.

"It seems, Romeo-san, that you have your answers. If there is anything else you wish to ask of Valentin, I hope that you will ask it of me instead. As you can see, our mutual friend, here, has been through quite the ordeal and does not appear to be in much of a state to socialize tonight. I hope you will forgive him."

Sato Yule Ball 2022 PV for those who signed up! Closed
Ethan stared at the imposing structure of the Satos' mansion. He had been invited to their annual Yule ball and was feeling both excited and nervous. He wasn't sure why he had been invited, but he suspected it had something to do with his pureblood status. His uncle had been hesitant at first, but his aunt had assured him that he would be fine. Ethan wasn't sure what she meant, but he trusted her implicitly.

“This is so big,” he said to no one in particular. He saw a movement out of the corner of his eye and turned to see a house elf. “Hello?” he asked hesitantly. “Do you know where the ballroom is?” The elf led him through the maze-like mansion until they reached the entrance. Ethan thanked the elf before stepping into the ballroom. There, he met Kim, greeting their guest. “Thank you for inviting me. This place is truly amazing, and your house is... beyond words. I'm still in awe of everything I saw.”

As he walked into the room, he saw that it was already filled with people. He recognized some of them as fellow students from Hogwarts, but there were also some adults that he didn't know. Everyone was dressed in their finest clothes. He felt out of place in the midst of all the luxury and refinement. He felt like a boy from a small village who had stumbled into a fairy tale. He didn't belong here, among all these wealthy people. But he tried to push those thoughts aside. He wasn't going to let himself have a bad time. Besides, he looked good in his striking blue suit, with a white long sleeve shirt underneath. His tie is a deep navy blue, and his pants have thin white stripes running down them. He straightened his jacket and walked into the room, feeling a bit more confident.
