It was a perfect sunny day outside, birds chirping, people enjoying the sunlight and wind, and Lucien was cooped up inside practicing potions. He had been working on his potions for years with his father before he even attend Hogwarts. So far it resulted in numerous hospital trips, but this time, Lucien was sure he could do it. He had studied every single effect of every single ingredient he could find in a book.

Creating a new potion wasn't so easy. Sure he had everything he hoped would work, but would it fix what he wanted it to? He was glad that they could use the class room, and he was also glad there were ingredients that they were allowed to use, aside from the store room. Some ingredients he couldn't find in the room or Diagon Alley his father would send him. Such as the Star Grass, Jobberknoll Feathers, and fairy wings he had beside him laying on some cloth, and the Nux Myristica in a jar in front of him.

Lucien marked Star Grass, Jobberknoll Feather, Fairy Wings, and Nux Myristica off of the small list he had in front of him. The next thing on the list was Salamanders blood. Seeing as it was a rather common ingredient he searched for it along the shelves that they were allowed to use. It took him a while to find it, but after moving things around he found a jar. He quickly set the jar beside the rest of his materials before checking that off the list and reading the next thing. 'Some kind of Eyes' was the next ingredient. "Way to be specific Lucien." He muttered to himself as he heard the door open. Another student entered the room.

Rorie was okay at potions. Not great, but not bad. Now, transfiguration was another story. Trying to find the transfiguration classroom, she got lost and ended up in the dungeons. "Great job, Rorie," she muttered to herself as she made her way down the hall. All the doors were closed but one, in which she heard a girl's speaking. She decided that it couldn't hurt to ask whether there was room for her to study in the classroom, as she needed a peaceful place and her common room didn't offer that over the crazed noise of the birthday party going on.

There was a test on transfiguration the next day she needed to study for, and on top of that she had to brew some sort of potion using the broad and unspecified instructions in her textbook. That wasn't all, though, there was a charms essay that she wanted to get ahead on, which wouldn't be too hard for her, as charms was one of her best subjects, but would still take time.

"Hey. Would you mind if I joined you guys? I just need to study," She asked, her sloppy British accent echoing around the dungeon, and awaited a response from the two kids.

The Raven haired boy lifted his head noticing that a girl who had entered already left and another one had entered the room. "Yeah, sure I don't mind. I'm sure the other wouldn't either considering she bailed pretty quickly." He said with a slight laugh, moving a few ingredients to the side. He would have to figure out which ingredients would be better if cut in small pieces, finely ground, or just thrown in. "I can't promise it will be complete and utter silence. I talk to myself a bit and I might end up blowing something up." He said smiling kindly.

"I would tell you that there's a study room but it's practically turned into a meet and greet room. If you get stuck on anything I can help, I'm quite good at every subject. I'll do my best to stay quiet." The heterochromatic boy stated before returning to the task at hand. he decided to grind the fairy wings using a mortar and pestle on the table, if it didn't work he still had plenty more to experiment with. If he ran out, he had money so he could buy some more. He quickly wrote what he was doing on a piece of parchment so he would know the same procedures if it turned out to be a success.

The boy, who’s eyes were two different colours, seemed very kind. He had offered her help if she needed it, and with transfiguration on her homework list, she probably would.

“Thanks. Even if it is a little loud, it beats the deafening noise of pretty much everywhere else.” She said, unpacking her stuff across from the boy on the table.

“I’m Rorie, by the way. Thompson.” She added, remembering the formalities that her mother was always trying to reinforce back home.

Oh, back home. Every time she thought of it she wondered how her mother was doing, how hard the finances were to work with and support two kids. Even with one of the three Thompson kids out of the house, Rorie’s mother still didn’t make enough money to properly support the family.

Ever since dad left it had been hard. Rorie had had to help out at the house, working whatever chores she could to get extra money and help out her Mum. In a way, Rorie had grown up too fast, but she still acted like she was three most of the time.

Rorie snapped back into reality, smiling at the boy across from her. Something about every situation was funny to Rorie, and she fought back a laugh. It would probably be creepy to giggle at nothing.

Was that Rorie she'd seen walk into the classom? Sadie had been walking around with her friends when she saw the fellow Gryffindor, and now fellow dormmate, and now wondered what her friend was doing. Usually only Slytherins hung out in the Potions room, and Rorie didn't seem like the type to hang out with them after the library incident, but who knew? Sadie told her friends that she'd talk to them later and hurriedly walked over to the doorway, peaking in.

"Rorie?" she called out. She saw her friend nearby a few Slytherins, one being a boy with dark hair and, she couldn't really tell from where she was but he seemed to have polychromatic irises, which was very interesting. Sadie felt like she heard of something that different colored eyes symbolized but she couldn't remember. For now, though, she thought it was very cool.

Sadie waved at her friend and went over to join. She didn't want to seem noisey but she really liked Rorie she was so nice and funny. And potions was an interesting and fun subject, even though for her she seemed to always get the ingredients and measurements wrong. Not that she wanted anyone to know that.

"Hey, Rorie! I thought I saw you in the hallway, just came to say hey." Then she nodded at the boy. "I'm Sadie, by the way. I don't think I've seen you in any of my classes yet. Are you an older student?" Sadie sat down on a table nearby and watched them, not wanting to get in their way. They seemed t9 just be practicing, but still.

"Hey Sadie!" Rorie called gleefully. "Look! I've made another friend! I'm on a rolllll," She laughed, extending the l.

"I came here on accident. I was trying to use a shortcut somebody told me about to get to the transfiguration classroom, but seeing this nice and quiet room to study in that didn't include a bossy professor and a bunch of spells I can't understand was too good to pass up."

She laughed at herself for how stupid it sounded when she said it out loud. The transfiguration professor had asked her specifically to meet for tutoring, and she had just skipped it. Her old self, the reckless one from the ghetto, was finally coming back, and bringing trouble with it.

"Do you want to join us?" She asked Sadie. "It would be okay if she joined us, right?" She turned to the boy to make sure.

Man, Rorie was proud of herself. Her old personality finally coming back, making multiple friends in the first week. She felt like she ought to have her name carved into a huge plaque in gigantic letters and put in the great hall just for everyone to see her accomplishment, maybe small, but big for her.

She pictured a huge wall with the words, Rorie James Thompson, Coolest Person Ever.

Okay, maybe that was a bit of a stretch.

Lucien smiled to Rorie as she introduced herself. As he was about to speak up another girl entered the room. He concluded her name was Sadie. "It is fine by me if she wishes to join us." He said with smile before continuing his words. "I'm Lucien Avery Escanora, heir of the House Haven-Escanora, second year Slytherin. Feel free to call me Lu or Avery if you would like. I've actually gotten used to people butchering my name. Nice to meet you both." The black haired boy said with a hint of a Russian accent. His sister and father were starting to rub off on him in their way of speech.

He wondered if he should have left out his last name, after all he didn't want to scare them off by saying he was one of the highest wizarding families that had been known to tamper with dark magic. He gave a nervous smile which clearly revealed he was on the brink of panicking. Not knowing what else to say he put the ground fairy wings into the cauldron which resulted in a rather loud popping noise and flashing lights, which cause Lucien to duck for cover as soon as it started, after a short while it finally stopped. Once he knew it was over he peaked his head back up scribbling the ground fairy wings off his paper. He stood up all the way smiling. "Sorry. I've never tried doing this before." He stated trying to smooth his now messy hair down how it had been before the explosion.
