The girl, who was a stranger to him not so long ago, always managed to put a smirk on his face. "Adrenaline Junk, huh? I guess we have another thing in common." He gazed intensely into her eyes, the tension between them was so much it could fill the room. It ran through his whole body and it was hard to believe that no one but the two of them felt it. But he himself had blocked out the world around him. It was as if he was sitting here alone with her and his butterbeer.
Katherine was a pleasant change. She wasn't put off by him, she made him laugh, she had her own devilish way about her, like himself. And that damned smile. He knew he would see that smile again after this evening. How would he ever be able to forget that pretty girl with the tough way? He wouldn't even want to forget her, he was already too fond of her for that.
"I guess this sport is hardly represented among wizards. Most can defend themselves with their wands, very few with their fists. I can do both. So I can see why you'd think more of Quidditch. Admittedly, I played Quidditch for a while too and the odd injury definitely has similarities." He loved what he was doing. He loved the adrenaline before every match. He loved training, with his brother and even with his father, even if he was particularly tough as a coach. He loved the feeling in his muscles, the tension, the concentration and also the pain. It was hard to understand for someone who did not also practice this sport himself, but it was his passion.
It was amazing and at the same time impressive how Kath simply played the compliment back to him. Most, no all, of the girls the Russian had met would have gone down red-faced in embarrassment. They would have giggled with their hands in front of their mouths, fallen for him but this girl was different. She challenged him. She didn't let him rattle her and that was something quite different from what he had known before. He liked it.
Nate had gained quite a bit of self-confidence over the last few years. Even though he could be the introverted type, that didn't mean he wasn't confident. He'd always had to be able to stand up to his brother and keep up, so that helped. And it was good to see that there were others who had that confidence. He laughed at her comment and nodded. "Of course, I have to see what you have in store." He grinned cheekily so that his white teeth could be seen.
"It's coming up soon. We have the Christmas competition for the second time this year. It's on December 28 and since you don't celebrate Christmas, I hope you don't have anything planned yet?" He wouldn't back down. Her on his fight, he hoped that would really happen. He leaned forward a little again to whisper mysteriously to her. "It'll be exciting after the fight, let's say there's something unofficial going on in the evening." He winked at her before leaning back in his chair again. He knew he had piqued her curiosity with that, he was sure.
"And yes, America is correct. If you really want to come and you're not afraid to be in a room with a bunch of fighters, I'll have an owl sent to you with all the dates." He pressed on with the game and while he was still fully focused on her, he suddenly heard another voice. "Nate, what the-" He stopped mid-sentence and Nate didn't have to look to see who was standing there. It was his older brother, who was now looking not at Nate, but at Kath.
Nate his jaw tightened as he looked at his brother. "What are you doing? You promised me you wouldn't come here?" The accusation in his voice was clear to hear, but Nate his brother loved games too, especially teasing his little brother and so he ignored the accusation. "Hey, you didn't tell me you were meeting a friend here!" There was the accusation from his brother now and Nate knew immediately which way this was going to go.
He crossed his arms and rolled his eyes. "And such a pretty companion. Hi, I'm Nate's brother." He had the same charming smile as Nate, his eyes were a little darker but his hair was the same, except his brother wore it longer and tied it up in a man bun. "Bro, what do you want?" hissed Nate now through his teeth, annoyed that he was here. "Yeah yeah, it's okay. Calm down kid. Man we gotta go soon and you still haven't packed up your stuff. I'm just here to see if you're still alive."
Nate had completely forgotten the time. He wanted to leave anything but now. But first he had to get rid of his brother. "Don't stress. I'll be right there. Now get out of here." Nate looked at his brother seriously, not making a face. "It was nice to meet you." His brother said goodbye to Katherine without another word to Nate. He left the stuffy room and Nate knew he had to say goodbye now.

Katherine listened to him speak, talking about the sport that he is so passionate about. At this point his voice sounded like music to her ears, a sweet melody she can listen to all day. It seemed like he’d spent so much time working on this sport of his. Which Katherine admired very much.
So he had looks, charm, humour and something he was talented at. Each time he spoke Katherine was more and more intrigued by what he’s got to say. He was a very interesting person that Kath wouldn’t mind getting to know more about. Discover him more in-depth, maybe he is a different man once you get to know him. But so far Katherine enjoyed what she saw not to mention the hot tension between them.
It felt like there was no air conditioning in this shop due to the tension sparking between them. It’s like sparks started flying amongst them, almost like a firework show at new years eve. It wasn’t the type of tension that would suffocate you. But the type of tension you crave more and more, the type that gets your heart racing in every way possible. It gives you a boost of adrenaline without doing anything.
This feeling with someone was a first for Katherine, she didn’t have that in her last relationship. Making this a new level for her that she was so interested in. He hasn’t shied away from Kath’s flirting, Making this an alluring challenge Kath so wished to play. She had finally found someone who can play at her level, a competitor willing to try his luck with her and not give up easily.
It was still too early, But it’ll make it interesting to see if he’ll give up early or not. If he’ll be able to handle playing with her fire or get burnt in it. She had a devilish smirk with a glint of challenge cross her storm-coloured eyes as she leaned forward to the table, looking Nate straight in his alluring ice blue eyes ” Hm but the real question is will you be able to handle what I have in store?”,
She then laid back on her chair, Giving Nate a small flirty tease. She listened as he announced his tournament date ” Nope I don’t have anything planned yet”, So he genuinely wanted her to come to this tournament of his she thought to herself. She couldn’t deny Nate did pique her interest.
He did know how to get her attention well. She laughed and spoke ” Alright then I have got to admit you’ve got me hooked here Mr criminal”, she paused then placed a more flirty smirk and spoke ” I don’t mind being in a room full of fighters since I know I've got you there to protect me if anything happened”,
She dropped her smirk when another guy came in to talk to Nate. The mysterious guy looked at Kath, She watched as the scene played in front of her. It seemed that the older guy was Nate’s brother and he was teasing him. Sometimes Kath was thankful that she was an only child, so embarrassing moments like this don’t happen to her.
Kath wanted to laugh at nates brothers teasing. It was obvious and funny. But she thought it’d be rude to do, so she didn’t show her urge to laugh. Kath had an innocent smirk as she broke her eye contact from Nate and then directed her icy eyes to nates brother ” and I’m Katherine Nate’s friend”, This was funny to observe in Kath’s opinion.
But never showed it so she doesn’t seem rude. She saw the resemblance between both brothers. It seemed that their charming smile was genetic, but the older brother had a different style for his hair and looked more mature. Katherine now looked back at Nate noticing he was annoyed at his brother’s appearance. She would have been annoyed too if it were her in that position.
” Nice meeting you too “, She responded but this time her eyes didn’t leave Nate. It seemed that their time together has come to an end Katherine thought.” It seems like you have to go, I don’t think you should keep him waiting or else he’ll tease you again”, She let out a soft chuckle and gave him a devilish smirk. It really was an evening she thought. If she was honest she had to leave also to get ready for tomorrow.
Happiness can be found even in the darkest times,If one only remembers to turn on the light.

She listened to him, attentively, and it seemed like she was really interested in what he was saying. Few showed any real interest in what Nate was doing. Few had any understanding for this "brutal" sport, especially many wizards and witches were only convinced of the power of their wand. It was a nice feeling and the way she looked at him when he talked, he didn't want to stop talking.
The atmosphere that had formed was Nate's personal highlight. He didn't want to leave this room and could sit with Kath for hours. There was no end to this game in his opinion, but he knew the end would come soon. But until then, neither of them would stop it, it seemed. He laughed again, "I guess we'll have to find out." He replied and his eyes fixed on hers. He was sure he could handle her. And she probably him too.
She really had no plans, did that mean she had accepted the offer? Or was she just letting him know she had time but still wouldn't come? He smirked to himself, that answer would suit her and her game, he couldn't even blame her for such an answer. "I knew I'd get you with it." He beamed proudly, showing his white teeth before his face changed back to a serious expression. "Trust me, you won't be in any danger there. And I'll protect you." The words were serious, he wanted her to feel safe with him.
But the end was approaching and Nate's brother reminded him of that by turning up and ruining the little game by thinking he was teasing his little brother. Kath introduced himself as Nate's friend and he couldn't keep a cheeky grin off his face. After his brother had finally left and said goodbye, Nate noticed that Kath didn't take her eyes off him as she said goodbye. It was a small moment of victory for Nate over his brother and he clearly enjoyed it.
"Yes, I'm afraid I have to go." He agreed, winking wickedly at her when she brought up his brother's teasing. "We won't talk about it." He looked serious at his words, but for a brief moment his face twisted into a small smile and he winked at her. "I'll see you at my fight Katherine. Drinks are on me, my Christmas present to you." Nate rose from his chair, his blue eyes searching hers one last time before he nodded goodbye, went to the counter to pay and then left the stuffy room, the tension between them gone.
