Colin VS Kim November 19th, 2022 closed

Attire: Usual weekend kit: Slytherin pride, neck ring, kilt, no shoes. Nothing fancy!

Colin was excited for this moment! The One on One Duelling Club was finally set in motion and Colin would be duelling his friend Kim Aoki. He'd heard from Sophia about the duel she and Kim were in during summer camp and Colin was pretty impressed that he'd be going up against one of the Pride of Pendrast's own! Once he got into the duelling hall, he noted that Kim and Dave, their club leader and umpire for today, were already there. Colin smirked. Liam would have characterised Kim's outfit as "smart" --- all black with silver jewelry. Colin preferred comfort and plain clothing, so it was a simple kilt and roomy plaid shirt, mostly unbottoned, for him. He did wear a plain black choker and his wolf fang necklace.

Colin's bare feet stepped up onto the piste and he greeted his friends: "Heyo lads!" He let the atmosphere around him sink in as Dave reviewed the rules. He wondered at all the famous wizards who, as students, must have stood where and Kim now stood. Certainly the likes of Dumbledore and Snape; but also many of his own family. Perhaps even his own Da and Uncle Colin had fought here. Colin stepped over to his place on the piste and faced Kim. His wand in his left hand, Colin bowed gracefully towards his opponent.

The boys got out their wands and bowed to each other as was customary in dueling, and then the spellwork began. Kim immediately pointed his wand towards Colin, and before the latter could do anything, Kim had already cast Verdimillious. A jet of green sparks shot out of his wand and traveled directly towards Colin who got hit by them after he failed to move out of the way in time. ‘Oh no.’ I thought to myself. Colin hadn’t even had the chance to cast a spell yet and he was already hit by a spell that interfered with his vision and made it harder to hit Kim. In fact, I myself had been hit my this spell quite a few times as a result of back on me so I knew how hard it was for Colin to see now. And I mean, Kim did have a nice strategy now that I thought about it, and it was one that I had never thought of back when Avery and I dueled Colin and his teammate Pax.

But that’s besides the point the point being that Kim had cast a Verdimillious at Colin. And not even a second after Colin got hit by Kim’s spell, the boy had cast an Incendio Duo at his opponent. ‘Oh, starting off with the most painful spells are we?’ I thought to myself. Personally, a spell like Incendio Duo was one I’d save for when my opponent had schorched me quite a bit in one match or for a moment when things got so bad that it could be used as a last result. But using it in as the first spell in a duel? Nah, that wasn’t me. On the bright side though, Colin missed by a long shot anyways so at least Kim didn’t get any burns. Not that I was taking sides, I’d never do that. Well, I would, but most likely not for a few more years, and certainly not in a duel like this.

"Aw, blast!" Colin muttered. Kim rammed him with a first year spell. Verdimillious! It didn't hurt him or anything, but the beautiful green sparkles and streaks of light really didn't help him at all! What it did was blind him momentarily. Just enough so that his own spell went sizzling right by Kim's body. So close! Colin shook his head. Don't blame yourself, lad. That was a great move, and Colin was certain that it saved Kim from a nasty, if temporary, burn!

Colin chid himself. Yes, it was a first year spell, verdimillious, but they taught it to first years for a reason. To do exactly to Colin what Kim just did. Put him out of the fight for a moment. He knew very well that they were both kids, and not very powerful yet. But what Colin realised just now was that magical power in and of itself was not everything. Even a simple spell could give the strongest wizard some trouble --- just enough, in a real fight, so that a weaker one can disapparate or get help. That was a lesson worth knowing!

He shook his head again, knocking all the green sparks out of his hair. He nodded congratulations at his friend. Kim. Now was time to refocus. Colin thought about what spell to zing at him next. He nodded, his choice made. Taking his duelling stance again on the piste, he readied himself for the next round. Colin smiled.

Damion was watching as both the younger boys started dueling. Throwing spells at each other. Part of him wanted to shield Kim. But he was not going to interfere in this. This was supposed to be fun and nothing else. He knew that they were not enemies. He looked at them and smiled. Why was he happy about this? Well... for one he was getting to be near Kim.

Damion was looking forward to this duel. He was not sure who would win. But he really hoped that it was Kim. Not only because he had a crush on the younger Gryffindor.... well mostly because of that. It was no secret that Damion had a crush on Kim. Anyways, Damion watched as both the boys cast their spells.

Colin McCoire casted the Flipendo spell on Kim Sato, which the other boy evaded without any problem. Kim Sato casted the Flipendo spell on Colin McCoire, which Colin was unable to evade. Damion watched carefully wanting to make sure that Colin was not hurt too much. Damion was not going to be biased. He was going be a fair judge in this match. Despite this match having Kim as one of the competitors.

Kim and Colin fired their spells at the same time! Colin thought he could see some blue, but honestly, all he could really see was green sparkles! If his own spell went anywhere near Kim, and not towards Damion or someone else in the room, he'd be happy!

Oof! Colin felt a bit dazed as Kim's knockback jinx, well, knocked him back a bit! More than a bit, really. His eyes were still full of green sparks and his head was hurting --- and it wasn't even that time of the month! Kim was smirking at him. Colin scowled in return. His swimming head kind of took some of the fun out of the duel --- he still couldn't even see Kim properly!

Well, there was nothing for it!

It was just he and Kim. What would his Gryffindor friend choose to smash him with next?

Colin knew what he was going to send Kim's way, so he got himself ready for the next round. If only his eyes would stop crossing and swimming around! He shook himself like a dog, and that calmed him down. He took his stance again on the piste and waited for Damion's signal. He really hoped he could land a spell --- any spell! --- on Kim, given his present disadvantage.

Damion watched as both the boys threw spells at each other. He was glad to see that both their spells had hit. He was not happy about it but it was okay. He couldn't keep wishing that Kim would win. He looked at them and grimaced softly. He didn't want Colin to see how much this was affecting him.

Colin McCoire casted the Incendio Duo spell on Kim Sato, which hit Kim. Damion could see that Kim would be aflame with the fire. Kim Sato casted the Flipendo spell on Colin McCoire, which hit Colin. Well both the spells had hit their targets.

Damion stood in the corner of the room as he watched the younger boys going at this. He was really hoping that Kim would win. Wasn't there a chance of that to happen? Well he was not sure of what was going to happen to be honest. He just wanted Kim to win. But he was not going to do anything to make that happen. He was a judge of this duel and he didn't want to be biased towards anyone.

Damion looked at them again. He was eager to see who would win this 1v1 duel. He was hoping it would be Kim but it could very well be Colin. Well who knows who was going to win this duel...
