The Ito family are a relatively wealthy and renowned pureblood family who had always lived on the north coast of Japan, not far from the city of Matsue. Katsuki Ito and Hana Mikan had been sweethearts while in Mahoutokoro, and had their first born only seven years after graduation, when they had been married for two years.

They had three sons: Noboru, who was eighteen, Niko, who was fifteen, and Kazz, who was nine. They also had a daughter: Sakura, who was fourteen. Ten years ago they also adopted some twins, who are new eleven years old: Aiko and Sana Sato, because their parents could not care for them (due to family situation) where so they found an adoption home with the Ito family, who have cared for the two since they were put into their care. Sana's mother, Yui, was good friends with Hina Tanaka (later Ito) and Botan Ito in school, so they were the obvious choice of adoption home. Aiko and Sana both use the surname Ito and, as of yet, have no knowledge of their true family, and feel as though they belong with the Itos.

As children, the Ito kids were often found sneaking out of their pureblood house to go to the local park and play with the muggle children, as they despised the fact that their parents insisted on keeping them away from the ‘mudbloods’. All but one would ever sneak out: Noboru. It was the twins Aiko and Sana that would always convince Niko, who always took responsibility for what happened, Sakura, and Kazz, to sneak out. Noboru would often catch them, but when they were successful, they had plenty of fun. They mainly stayed away from the other kids, as they feared that they would be found out and punished if they mingled with muggles.

For his tenth birthday, Sakura gifted Sana a necklace with a metal pendant shaped like a bluejay feather, and he got really excited, when he opened it, the pendant lifted without him moving the box at all. It was a great moment for the family, as they were afraid both twins were squibs. This only reminded his twin sister that she did not have long left for her first instance, which unfortunately never happened.
