Hunter rarely visited the Hospital Wing. The only occasions he did were for bruises that developed from broom racing. He typically preferred to treat his sickness' and own minor injuries himself through his own potioneer skills. However, he wasn't even here for himself but for a couple others. He sat beside the occupied bedside of Colin McCoire. Not a friend or even an acquaintance; if anything Hunter barely even knew the boy from a couple broom races and today's extravaganza of a duel. Hunter wrote in his note book, a bit of sketching as well to go along with a few diagrams. The boy's paranoia was high, and he couldn't let it go any longer. He was certain, there was no mistaking it now. Those marks on Colin's body were familiar. Not exact, but similar to a couple scars he had seen in the past. His family's history is filled with the treatment of lycanthropes and Hunter had seen a few people here and there back home. Although it was more peeking and sneaking around when he wasn't suppose to.

He also had a recollection from books that filled his father's study room, writings, and notes displaying information about were-folk and their anatomy. Hunter was actually doing a swift anatomical drawing himself. Crude and lacking detail, but accurate as he attempted to draw the lines of Colin's scars across it. As swift as he started though, so did he close it mumbling that he would need to take a memory potion later today to recall such an image. His eyes loomed over Colin, filled with curiosity but also shooting daggers into the poor sleeping boy's heart.

There was a rumor back during the spring that Hunter and his family were werewolf Hunters. A couple pure blood students whispered it along the branch, but nobody had asked Hunter nor confirmed it. The rumor wasn't true, but it wasn't completely false either. It depended on which generation of the Argentum family line and what their opinions were. Hunter was taught lovingly by his mother so she protected and helped them. His father was more of a person looking for favors when it came to helping lycanthropes. Hunter didn't know these factors, but to say the least his parents views certainly impacted him greatly on his own views about Werewolves. In short, it was a disease; simple as that. A disease that ruined lives and could easily be spread from one victim to the next. Like how the rats of Europe were captured to stop the black plague from spreading, so to would Hunter find the wolves that posed a danger to all.

Hunter wasn't completely inhumane about it though. He respected those who didn't want to spread the disease and were always willing to take their Wolfs-bane potion to control themselves. Yet, he did consider the fact that as long as the threat was present, then nobody was truly safe. Many wizards in the community looked down upon Werewolves, and Hunter could be considered one of them to a slight degree. It was already determined in his mind. Keep a close eye on Colin, find out if there are any more wolves hiding in Hogwarts, and either get Colin to help Hunter find a true cure for lycanthropy or have Colin face terrible consequences.

Hunter stretched, looking over his shoulder at the other students who decided to come along; either for their own treatments, or for their worries about Colin: "Looking better you two. Did Healer Frogge say anything about dehydration? I think you were seeing things at the end there do to the smoke and the fire potion Avery. I never really took the potion, but it could have hallucinatory effects from lack of water tricking your brain to thinking you saw fire."

The vast plains of parchment spread out before Colin's eyes as he rode the freshly inked quill as if it were a broomstick. The nib plummeted towards the smooth surface and far distant horizon disappeared into a haze. Things too shape down below. Rivers? Maybe. No, not rivers. Too black --- yet curiously wet! Squiggly lines resolved themselves into practiced loops and curves.

The nib touched down, rotated and lifted off again. What was it Professor Bardot said about landing and taking off again?

The quill rose high above the surface of the parchment world, so that now the whole could be seen. Graceful lines of a map perhaps? Parallels and dots and little hatch marks denoting who knows what! Forests and ravines, canyons and ridges. And words. Twas a funny map! The country looked more like a boy than a country! Surely twas no more than some pleasant plain in the Land of Counterpane?

And the nib plummeted yet again. The map disappeared and squiggles became black rivers again. Colin held on to the great quill with both hands and knees, his hair flopping about as the great instrument careened forth and back. He tried to make sense of it all. Of birds in sporadic flight, of fitful landing, never resting. The answer was on the tip of Colin's tongue; some unforeseen problem quelled its speech.

And the quill rose again, higher and higher; the words smaller and smaller; the face of the boy faded from sight.

And Clair held his hands in hers. And Luci and Tes and John and Henry and many others danced around them and Rina and Edme played music in the night. The stars wheeled above them, bright and cold; and the fires around them burned red and warm. Colin and Clair danced and his heart thumped with the joy of living.

High above, the Moon was fulling and an eagle was flying, against the wind it strove, and still they danced until the music stilled. Clair ran from the fires and Colin followed her and the others followed him. Swifter were they, on silent feet under the full of the Moon and settled around her as she sat under wheeling stars.

And fire roared from the sky and burned them all! Sirocco had come upon them and tore at their fur and their flesh until all were dead but one. The bones, snapped and burnt, the flesh, reduced to ash, rose and were borne away on the remorseless wind. And in Sirocco were two dragons. And two dragon riders; one from before him and one from behind. One rider greeted him cheerfully; the other remained silent.

"Clair! What's happening?" Colin sat up. He knew this place. The smell of it, of healing potions and fresh sheets and old blood. A hundred generations of spells and potions gone bad had been patched up, healed, or sent home in a box from this hall, the hospital wing. He looked down the length of the narrow cot towards his feet. He wiggled his toes. He looked down and checked his body. All his scars seemed to be in place.

He couldn't smell Clair here, but Hunter certainly was here! "Hunter!" Colin cried out, looking for his Gryffindor friend. "Did we win? Did you smash Chen through the door? Avery, you alright mate?" But it was the other boy that gave him pause. Hunter Argentum. He'd heard some relatively sus things about the Ravenclaw. Colin's brows knit together and he stared at Hunter. "Why an eagle fighting the wind?" he mused under his breath, as the deep memory of the dreamtime arose into his conscious mind.

"Hunter." Colin looked down towards the Ravenclaw's hands. Held there was a closed notebook. He wondered what was inside! He smirked at the umpire and instigator of the duel. "What's in there then? Taking notes about my stellar performance? Or Paxxo's knock-out spell casting?"

They/She
Pax looked down at their injured friend as he recovered from the fight. Luckily, he would be ok, but it still worried them for a second. Though, to be fair, they figured he'd be having a pretty decent time in dreamland.

As they finally took a moment to realise everything that had kicked off at the end of that fight, they recalled Avery's last words before they had blindly done as Hunter had asked, carrying Colin up to the Hospital Wing. They blinked, and it seemed to kick their brain back into action.

"Uh, Avery, what were you saying? Did I see what?"

They were genuinely confused by this statement, though they guessed it must've been something major if Avery was asking them about it.

"Was it something important? D-did something happen?" Looking back and forth between Avery and Hunter, there seemed to be something that happened there. It made Pax curious, but also worried. Was there something larger than they knew going on?

Suddenly, Colin sat up, and Pax focused their attention back to him, giving him a careful hug. "Thank God you're alright, Colin."

It only occurred to them of Hunter's notebook that he clutched, which Pax looked at curiously. Maybe that held the answers to whatever unspoken debate had been going on between Hunter and Avery.

"Can I take a look at those notes, Hunter? If I wanna get better at my casting, then surely it'd do me good to see what others thought?"

Getting his friend Colin to the Hospital Wing was the most important thing, of course. So when no one really responded to his questions back in the dueling club, Avery huffed a little but helped Pax bring Colin to get the care he needed, and to get a little Reparifors from the nurse for himself as well. Man, Pax really did strike a powerful Knockback Jinx. He expected no less from a powerful beater, after all.

As Hunter asked Avery about dehydration and hallucinations, the small boy pouted. "No! I'm fine!" he replied adamantly. "I knew what I saw! You definitely aimed your wand at Colin, and that was totally against the rules to interfere as our moderator! Why did you do that?" he asked Vale's cousin. "I swear, I didn't need your help!" he protested.

He turned back to Pax to answer their questions, and was grateful they had remembered what he said. He flushed a little, embarrassed to reveal the fact that their moderator probably felt pity for him enough to help him out. He didn't want Pax of all people to think he was inadequate to hold his own! "I... I saw Hunter aim his wand at Colin towards the end, and say 'incendio'. A flame hit Colin just as my spell landed, which was probably one of the reasons I was able to knock him out. That's against the rules!" He was quite sure he saw correctly! He couldn't have hallucinated it, could he? "Did you see it? I want this to be a fair duel!" His eyes pleaded with Pax, hoping they had seen the same thing and that he was sane, but he wasn't sure how much Pax could've seen amidst the fray.

His friend stirred. "Colin! You're awake! How are you feeling, mate?" he asked, concerned. Colin had suffered more than he needed to. Avery decided to put on a brave smile for his friend. "I'm fine, couldn't let Pax have too much fun! You're the one I'm concerned about, taking one too many blows. So many, including Hunter's." He let that comment hang in the air. Did Colin see what happened before he passed out?

He watched as his friends asked Hunter about his notes. Right, that notebook that the boy always kept! He'd always found it odd and secretive, but figured Hunter was just a quirky guy. After all, Avery knew how his cousin Vale was. She was an amusing force herself, one he appreciated. What kinds of notes did Hunter have about their duel? "Yeah, Hunter! What did your analysis say that made you think I needed any help?" He peered at the notebook.
