Mateo wasn't particularly a fan of deathly silence. It was threatening, almost alarming, to not hear the faint chatter of students discussing something or other. It was a primary reason he had a magical gramophone installed, to play gentle and soothing classical music. And in such a vast space like Hogwarts' Library, any sort of deafening silence would be daunting.

But today, silence was not to be found. Yells and shouts and general sounds of anger were heard coming from the bookshelves, so much so that Mateo would head to that area and find a student, older however than a first-year or second-year. It didn't seem that they were doing too well, considering they were having a bit of what could only really be described as a tantrum, and definitely wasn't pretty. Now, under technicalities, Mateo wasn't in charge of helping students out that were upset, but he was in charge of the Library and making sure the area was all in order. Besides, it wouldn't be right to simply walk away.

"Are you alright, sir?" He'd ask, holding out a hand as a sort of peace offering. "And, if I can ask, could you please make sure to keep your voice down? The last thing I need are many students complaining, if you know what I mean. But, regardless, is there anything I can do to help you?"
