Ema's childhood was a mixture of happiness and sadness as she was the first girl born in her family in a few decades as such her parents are emotionally distant from her as are the rest of her family aside from her grandparents on both sides, her younger brother Apollo and her older brother Jacob. She spent a lot of her time with all six learning magical theory from her grandparents and watching her brother as he studied and trained for the Dueling circuit when he went to school. She cared for her little brother as their parents were rather important figures in the Ministry though she couldn't remember for the life of her what their job was nor did she really care.
She did pick up some things from her parents though as emotionally distant as they were: her father taught her chess and how to apply such strategy to duelling and similar activities whereas her mother taught her how to use her words to hurt where a wand would only make things worse.
First Instance of Magic:
She can't really remember what happened that day as all she can recall is that her little brother was crying and her family were arguing loudly about something and all she wanted to do was make him smile and the next thing she remembers is her brother's stuffed dragon is flying and roaring as though it were real and her brother and grandparents cheering at her first sign of magic as the rest of her family watched on silently with somewhat awkward approval.
