Brainstorming Session
It was so quiet... Daphne's fingers strummed along the table as she sat across from the boy, unsure of what to say. She usually just went to the library to study but now she had graphics due for Magazine Club, and she had a lot of trouble coming up with one in particular. So after class, she had approached Kierce to help her, to which he surprisingly said yes. After putting the large poster paper on the table, Daphne sat up and spoke. "Thank you for agreeing to help me with my poster! It's for Magazine Club, basically I'm a graphic artist and I have to create a poster for a Thanksgiving recipe article. If that makes sense..?" She said with a soft chuckle, gesturing to the multiple art supplies on the table. "We have a couple hours before dinner to brainstorm. Oh, and in case I didn't say it before, my name's Daphne!" She held out her hand for him to shake, the smile never leaving her face. As she said that, her Silver Siberian kitten would suddenly appear, sitting on the chair beside Kierce with a judging expression on his face as usual. "Oh! And that is Alduin, you're not allergic to cats right? Don't mind him he always looks like he's brooding, hehe."

Brainstorming Session
Kierce at the other side of the table, he felt awkward not really sure why he accepted to come here maybe it had something to do with the library or he was just bored probably the latter of the two. He agreed to come here to help one of his classmates with her club it was in truth to give him something to do and, maybe meet someone knew at hogwarts. The girl sat up "Thank you for agreeing to help me with my poster! It's for Magazine Club, basically I'm a graphic artist and I have to create a poster for a Thanksgiving recipe article. If that makes sense..?". I nodded, paying attention to what she was saying so I could actually help instead of causing trouble. She gestured to the art supplies on the table, Okay so what will the recipe for the poster be? she seemed to give me everything else except this very key detail about what we were doing."We have a couple hours before dinner to brainstorm. Oh, and in case I didn't say it before, my name's Daphne!" She held out her hand and he shook it, she seemed to always have a smile on her face,How can anyone be happy that long? he tried to give a smile but it was probably awkward like most things with Kierce "Nice to meet you then Daphne, if I didn't mention it before I'm Kierce Gray".Thoughts-x

I felt eyes staring at me Is there someone else here? I turned to the armchair next to me and jumped when I saw a small cat there. Kierce couldn't help but notice the very much judging face the cat had, which made him try to scoot away from the cat more. Kierce didn't really appreciate being stared at but he got used to it. He turned back to Daphne who just replied "Oh! And that is Alduin, you're not allergic to cats right? Don't mind him he always looks like he's brooding, hehe.". he replied "He looks cute. But I am, slightly allergic to cat fur, nothing serious so you don't have to worry about it.". Kierce looked back at Alduin and whispered "why does it feel like you're judging me?". He turned back around and sighed "So what do you mean by graphics cause there are multiple types, do you mean the layout of the poster, or the art, or both? Also what's the recipe that we are doing this for?" I would be fine to help with anything I was pretty good with this kind of stuff.

"The recipe is for a turkey! Basically just a thanksgiving turkey, but I'm sure other thanksgiving food can be in the background. We don't have to write the recipe though of course, just design the image for the article." Daphne clarified as they shook hands, pulling back after a moment. While she was being friendly, it was genuine not forced. Daphne was always open to making friends and if someone was shy or nervous, she didn't mind going at their pace. "Nice to meet you too! Your name is pretty cool, it reminds me of dragons." Jesus, she said that a lot. She was beginning to think she was pretty childish for referencing dragons every single time she met someone. "Which is cool-not an insult, I promise! I just know a lot about them is all, even Alduin is named after one." She left out the part how he was named after the dragon God of Destruction. When Kierce whispered to Alduin, he just purred lowly and laid down, never moving his eyes away once. "We just design the art and we can put some text on it once we're done, that's pretty much it. Think of it like..a book cover! Yeah!"

Daphne explained it was a turkey recipe and that they were doing they were just drawing images for the poster and design which helped, but now Kierce had a new set of questions that he'd probably ask later. "Nice to meet you too! Your name is pretty cool, it reminds me of dragons." I just give a polite smile, trying to how Kierce would translate into dragons Maybe she's thinking of Kierce like Pierce? Or maybe she's thinking of how my name sounds Irish. Now he was thinking about dragons, he'd borrowed a book about them from the library once, he recalled that his favorite things were the detailed diagrams of the dragons and their abilities, especially the Ukranian Ironbelly and Norwegian Ridgeback. Which is cool-not an insult, I promise! I just know a lot about them is all, even Alduin is named after one." Kierce looked at Alduin, Alduin had laid down, and still stared at Kierce Yeah I can see why he was named after a dragon. Or maybe the cat just hates me. Kierce turned back to Daphne trying to figure out what to respond with. "Thanks. Dragons are really...interesting. I read a book about them once my favorite has to be the Norwegian Ridgeback, it just seems brilliant! Back to the poster though." I say trying to remain on topic. I pull out a notebook I often use for observations or diagrams and try to imagine a basic draft of what we were doing. "We just design the art and we can put some text on it once we're done, that's pretty much it. Think of it like..a book cover! Yeah!" Kierce an awkward smile "Thanks for clarifying that. How about we draw a classic Scottish Thanksgiving feast and put the turkey at the front to highlight it if that makes sense, and for the text 'How to Prepare the Main Course'?" I say while jotting it down on my notebook.

"The Norwegian Ridgeback?!" Daphne gasped and suddenly stood up, her hands on the table as she leaned forward happily. "They are so cute! My dad met a bunch at the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary-which is only like the largest preservation area for all dragons! I wish to go one day, ooh it would be so cool if everyone could go on a field trip there! Don't you think? Hmm, I wonder if the Care of Magical Creatures class ever travels." She hummed. She would have to ask her brother about that later. Did field trips exist? Daphne then remembered about the poster when he mentioned it and nodded, urging him to continue. "Oh right, right." Daphne smoothened out the large paper and looked up, nodding in agreement. "Mmhm! That sounds good!" She got her quill and began to make a sketch, putting an outline of where the turkey would be so they wouldn't accidentally draw inside the lines of it. "Does this look good?" Daphne pointed to the sketch which she drew light in the case they had to erase it. While she didn't notice it yet, there was a tarantula crawling towards Alduin, coming from the underside of
the chair.

Daphne went onto a rant about dragons, which Kierce was very interested in, after all he never really got to hear about dragons or magical creatures other than fantasy books. "I'd assume at one point they'd go on a field trip, not every magical creature is from Scotland so they'd have three options, give you paper lessons about the creatures, two bring the magical creature over to Hogwarts, or three send the class on a field trip. It would be cool to go on a field trip to visit the place you described, but there would probably be someone that would ruin it for everyone. At least with my experience with field trips" Kierce said. They once again worked on the poster and Daphne began to sketch out Kierce's idea. She asked if it looked good I nodded "yea, it looks pretty good, if you'd like I could do some shading on it. If you're fine with that" I added, I continued to scrawl in my notepad, noting every idea that came into my head, I also tried to focus my energy off the cat who was probably still eyeing me. Then something on Alduin's chair, caught my eye a few legs coming from underneath the chair. Spider legs. In my mind there was no doubt about the fact it was a spider. I swear I left Cyprus in the common room, unless she followed me I stared at the spider for a second and picked the spider up carefully.

"Yeah, that makes sense! I'm not even sure how often the train comes by here anyway. I'll try to stay awake the next time I'm on it to see the places it passes by...but really all I remember is trees and water." Daphne said as she continued to sketch on the paper once she had gotten Kierce's approval. She stuck out her tongue a bit, keeping her focus on the drawing as it meant a lot to her for it to be a magazine. "Shading? Yes please!" Daphne responsed, by the time she offered him the drawing utensil, he had a spider in her hands. Alduin actually looked pretty spooked and hissed lowly, as if the spider was trying to go after him. Daphne looked rather interested than disgusted herself, tilting her head curiously. The spider crawled around in Kierce's palms, seeming pretty calm for the most part. "Oh my..is that a tarantula? How'd it get into here? I saw some in the forest by my home when I was young, I heard that they are venomous though. ..Like some kinds of dragons! It seems to like you." Alduin was clearly not having it, jumping across the table to sit by Daphne. "Oh wow, this is the first time I've seen Alduin nervous.."

Kierce paused for a moment "The only time I know of when the train comes by is for breaks from school. I could be wrong though." Kierce watched Daphne sketch, which made him feel twitchy, he always hated when he wasn't doing something, he would rather have endless busywork rather than watch someone else do the same thing. After I picked up the tarantula, I looked at it for a while, it was a type of tarantula I didn't recognize, but then again I was focused on looking at it not identifying it. Where'd this little guy come from?He probably was let in through the doors, by some student. I looked up to Daphne who just responded to my request, and was holding out the pencil, I responded "Well, I think my hands are a bit full." Kierce turned a little red, The lass has eyes, she can see the spider, you just sound like an idiot. Kierce heard Alduin hiss beside him, which prompted him to scoot away from the cat. A cat that's afraid of spiders? I know this is a large spider, but there's no reason for him to be so scared. I would laugh, but that would be rude to both Alduin and Daphne, also he was afraid the cat would probably kill both him and his new spider friend if he did. You're being irrational, he probably couldn't kill you. But then again the odds of anything insane happening are low, but not zero. The spider crawled around on Kierce's palm, and was surprisingly calm, to Kierce's relief. Daphne broke the silence asking about the tarantula, how it got in, and how she saw tarantulas when she was younger. She also compared spider venom to dragons, which shocked Kierce, along with saying the tarantula liked him. "I have a few theories on how he got in, probably slipped through the main doors when someone went outside. But tarantula venom is not extremely dangerous, unlike what most believe, well unless there are magical spiders I don't know about. Well anyway their venom can't really kill people, can cause fevers and pain, but that's really it. I want to name it, I don't know why, I mean I already have Cyprus, so I can't keep him. Don't know why I'm calling it a he, maybe because it looks younger and males have shorter life spans? But anyway I already have two names I like, Kaleidoscope or Ocho, what do you think?" His voice sped up gradually the more excited he got, then he realized how much he had ranted and stopped. He saw Alduin jump over to Daphne, and felt a little bad for him, even more so since Daphne said she never really saw him nervous. "I have a feeling he doesn't like spiders as much as I do, I'm sorry for both ranting and well the spider" I said sheepishly.

"Oh, it's okay don't worry! I'm not mad, I don't mind drawing I just don't want you to feel left out is all. Honestly if you'd just rather sit and talk I do not mind, I just like making friends in general, of course if you're comfortable with that." Daphne chuckled as she started to outline the sketch. Alduin just jumped from his seat and starting running around the entire table, meowing loudly as if he was trying to protest before finally jumping onto Daphne's lap. "Alduin, Alduin it's okay! The spider can't hurt you...wow, he must be really mad if he goes to me like this. I don't think he's scared, just jealous. Alduin likes being the center of attention, when he's spooked he usually fights. I've seen him um..jump on someone's face before just because they sat beside him on the couch in the common room while he was sleeping."
Daphne once more leaned forward to look at the spider, "Oh you have a pet spider already?? That's so cool, I did want a spider for a moment but I prefer bigger pets. Maybe I'll get a spider when I go home though and get a nice big enclosure for it too." She continued, "Kaleidoscope is perfect. If you can't keep him then maybe he can be our pet in the library, I'm sure he has a web here somewhere. We can find it and constantly leave snacks and stuff for him there so he's not hungry. Who knows, maybe he has an entire spider family!" She ranted on as well, and gestured for him to continue. "Do not apologize, Kierce. I will never be annoyed at you, especially if you're talking about animals. That is my passion, which I guess isn't surprising because I'm a Hufflepuff."

Daphne continued her sketching, while Kierce examined the spider. Alduin ran away from his chair, around the table, then jumped to Daphne's lap. "Alduin, Alduin it's okay! The spider can't hurt you...wow, he must be really mad if he goes to me like this. I don't think he's scared, just jealous. Alduin likes being the center of attention, when he's spooked he usually fights. I've seen him um..jump on someone's face before just because they sat beside him on the couch in the common room while he was sleeping." I looked back at the cat, my eyes now watching him warily, Jealous? Can't that lead to anger? Would he attack the spider? Would he attack me for holding the spider if he got angry? Just in case I would be watching that cat a little closer. Kierce smiled "I'm just happy he's not angry then, I'm pretty sure neither me nor the spider would appreciate him being upset."
She leaned forward towards the spider "Oh you have a pet spider already?? That's so cool, I did want a spider for a moment but I prefer bigger pets. Maybe I'll get a spider when I go home though and get a nice big enclosure for it too." Kierce nodded, giving her a chance to continue what she was saying before he spoke "Kaleidoscope is perfect. He smiled, knowing full well that spiders didn't really have "families" they were solitary creatures, but he didn't want to rain on her parade so he didn't mention that.
" Yeah, she's a bit of a handful sometimes, she likes to try and run off when I'm not around her. And I can understand the bigger pets, losing her for even ten seconds is terrifying as she can crawl underneath a lot of things. I'm glad you agree! And I think Kaleidoscope would very much appreciate us leaving him food, instead of him having to catch it, he probably does have a web around here, but it could be anywhere!" Kierce gestured towards the surrounding, seemingly infinite library. "Do not apologize, Kierce. I will never be annoyed at you, especially if you're talking about animals. That is my passion, which I guess isn't surprising because I'm a Hufflepuff." I smiled, "Well you have any ideas where his web may be so we can bring him back there when we're done with the article?"
