That was the last straw. “I can’t believe you! You’re so unbelievably stupid! I’m just trying to be nice, and this is what I get in return?” Amanda walked straight up to Kaegen and studied his face. “What the hell is so wrong with you that you just can’t be kind in return?” And with that, she walked over to the other side of the room.
“Oh, I may be on the side of the angels, but don't think for one second that I am one of them.”

The boy backed up with every step forward the death witch took, making sure she didn't gain any distance. She was keeping up the act, saying he was stupid and that she was trying to be nice. Trying to be nice? She had, not two minutes ago, tried to get close enough to spring her trap. Not two minutes ago! With a last thrown accusation that something was wrong with him and he couldn't "be nice back" she walked away, leaving the boy from the fens more than a little relieved. Walking over to his seat, he picked up the pillow the girl had sit on and swapped it for one from a different table.
There was no way he was going to take any chances. After swapping out the pillow he was going to use as well, he sat down as if nothing had happened and continued to watch the tea party, not even bothering to answer the name wraith.

Cecily nodded enthusiastically as Muriel answered her question. "Ooh, berries are good. My favorite food ever... would probably be... Coconut Ice. It's super super unhealthy," Cecily expalined giggling. "but my grandma has this amazing recipe. It's absolutely delicious."Interactions: Muriel Carroll
Cecily smiled as an image from her mind popped into her head. It was a memory of her dear grandma handing her pink and white candies.
"So, how has school been for you lately?" Cecily asked. She was getting way more comfortable around Muriel, and was really enjoying their conversation.

"Yes, by you," he had said, and, for some strange, inexplicable reason, it brought a smile to my lips as I slid into the seat on the booth next to him. It seemed he had overthought it, his eyebrows knotting themselves as he made the descision. As soon as I was seated, I realized my mistake in not choosing the one across, because the bench was smaller than it looked, and I was closer to him than originally desired.Mentions: Amanda Sparrow

Before I could say another word, a girl with pretty hair and nice clothes walked over and, before beginning her speech, smiled at me and began. I don't know why, I don't know how.
Something about jerks and apologies and... It all faded out eventually. To me at least. Kaegen seemed to reply smartly, in a bad way. Suddenly I wasn't so sure this was the table I wanted to be at. But, I decided to give him a chance. How did I know what this girl did to him and that his speech wasn't justified? I didn't.
Suddenly, the girl decided to sit down, making Kaegen and myself even tighter. Kaegen though, immediately became defensive. Eventually, the girl stormed off to some other place in the party, and I had Kaegen all to myself. Before I could say anything, he swapped the pillow she had sat on with another one. His reasons unbeknownst to me.
"So... My name is Mae Reeds. You are... Kaegen Deathmote, right? I'm from Galway, in Ireland. You?" I attempted conversation.

Muriel nodded to her response, though didn't quite understand how the food could be unhealthy; coconuts were fruit right? And fruits were healthy... at least that's what she was taught. Perhaps she was just missing something; after all, she'd only heard of the food and never actually saw, let alone eaten it before. Cecily's change to another question made her drop all the thoughts anyway.Interactions: Cecily Queen
"Oh umm, it's been good... the classes are interesting; I feel like I'm actually a witch now." She answered humorously, though really was happy that she knew some type of magic now. Muriel was also beginning to feel at ease; a big improvement compared to how she started. "But there's still so much I haven't done yet, which I guess is something exciting to look forward to... What about you?"

A land of Ire...
It was an interesting concept, a land of misery and ire, arguments and malice. And in the land of Ire was the way of Gall. Kaegen wasn't sure where this land was, but it sounded horrible. He turned his tired looking eyes at this girl, the girl that was now a lot more interesting, seeing she came from a land of constant torment. What was life even like there?
Her name was may, like the month. So month, right? Kaegen made a mental note to remember her name was month.
"My name is Kaegen Deathmote, Fens-Born Scarf-Wielder. He who was called fat tadpole as a babe, suicidal idjit as a toddler and he who earned the name Eeh before arriving at Hogwarts. Protector of Eris, Chaos-Born First-Avenger, companion to November, Deathmote-kin. Assistant to Professor near under the authority of himself. He who was made prefect of ravenclaw under the authority of the black burn and sir happiness. He whose names are given authority by Grandfather, whose authority is given him by the conqueror of the 14th dark place, but it's okay if you call me whatever.
Your home sounds horrible, do people die often?"
His voice was quiet, without a lot of emotion, but his eyes were still wide open, whether that was because he had not yet calmed down from the near death encounter with a death witch, or if it was due to the excitement of learning about the land of ire was anyone's guess.

"Oh wow," Mae responded to Kaegan, after listing his paragraph of titles. She found it interesting, a backstory. His 'Grandfather' seemed important, and his story made me wonder about what it was like where he was born.
Then he asked me a strange question: "Your home sounds horrible, do people die often?"
For a moment, it stung me, like a wasp's bite. But, seeing as his reasons were unknown, I resolved to address the question with sense.
"Not at all. It's really pleasant, actually. The sea is always warm, the grass always green. My family lives in a small town on the coast, we are a fishing family. I wonder, why do you ask?" I was, indeed, curious about his motives. What could possibly spark that idea in his head?
Turning my cheek in some subtle hurt of my home, his eyes caught my attention. A kind of warm, bluish-gray, reminding me of the color of the Ireland sky: always cloudy. That memory brought a smile to my lips which I, without reason, attempted to conceal.
"And..." I added. "I think I'll call you Kae, if that's alright with you," I said, an unwanted smile once again plastered onto my face.

Pleasant? How on earth could a land that called itself the land of ire be pleasant? Was it a trick, a fluke they used to make prospective tourists steer clear of their shores? It would make sense, if they had something they were guarding, something they wanted to protect. Maybe it was a land of riches and power, but with no armies or hunters to guard their border?
Why did he ask? Well, that was an easy question to answer.
"I ask the question because I want the answer. So why do they call it the land of ire, then? The way of Gall?"
He ignored her last comment, month could call him whatever she wanted to, that was none of his business. As long as she didn't call him something different because of ignorance. Preference was something he was not willing to contend with. He wondered if the girl had some treasure or secret spell from the land of ire she would be willing to share. A secretive land was bound to have some form of power, right?

"I ask the question because I want the answer. So why do they call it the land of ire, then? The way of Gall?" Kaegen replied, showing slight aggression. Mae became a little bit defensive.
"Well," she began. "The modern Irish word 'Éire' comes from the Gaelic word 'Éire', the name of a fair goddess who acted as a sort of matron and goddess of sovereignty, or really just a goddess of the land. Her name was then translated into English to Ire, and Ireland was named Ireland. Galway... well that comes from the Irish name Gaillimhe, which was the name of the western boundary of the earliest settlement. So there, did that answer your question?" Mae took a few rapid inhales, then caught her breath. It amazed her how much she had learned from her mother's Irish library. And she hoped that Kaegen would not continue the subject, she was suddenly uncomfortable, and a little angry, but that she attempted to compress. Suddenly she became self-conscious, wondering if her eyebrows were too thick if her ears were too big if her hair was messy, and if any part of her at all didn't please the boy. She didn't need his approval, nor liked him in that manner, but instead became like this while talking to any boy. She simply hoped this one would be different, cape and bandages considered.

He had no idea what this girl was talking about, no clue what irish was. She was clearly talking about the origins of the name of her country and way, but it didn't stick with the prefect, concepts as large as countries still managing to force his brain into a struggling state. He had been placed in ravenclaw not for raw knowledge born of books, but rather for ingenuity, and an original mind. And ingenuity wasn't going to help him figure out what month was talking about. The only thing he really understood was that she was smart. Really smart. And that made her just a little bit dangerous.
He felt more than a little bit lost, as if the girl sitting next to him was from another land, and indeed she was. He kept staring at her, dark shadows a testament to his lack of rest. His face didn't show many signs of confusion, but his eyes widened a bit more. He knew it was his turn to speak, to say something. But he could think of nothing to say. He had, however, noticed there was a word others used in this scenario, a word he would try out for himself.
