The Hufflepuff Table 2018-2019
I smiled happily at the friendly introductions. Hufflepuff was definitely the right place for me. As much as I would have loved Slytherin so I could be with Lucien and Aravis all the time, this house was full of people like me, and I enjoyed that. So far everyone was sweet and nice. "I'm albino. Although sometimes I wish I was just really blonde so I wouldn't have eye troubles." I smiled with a small laugh.
That's when Miko asked what my favorite magical creature was. Elena also seemed to want to know. It wasn't a hard choice at all but the only issue was there was a tie. At least they were both a sort of reptile. "Honestly I really love Basilisks and Dragons. I can't choose between the two! I feel like they are very misunderstood creatures." I stated happily.
"In the future I would like to work with Dragons if possible. They seem like they're just giant cats with scales instead of fur. And fire. I mean honestly if you train them, or at least try, they could be quite good companions!" Aravis and Lucien's mother worked with dragons when she was alive and it worked out great for her. Maybe I could do the same thing. After all Aravis had tons and tons of her mother's notes on dragons that I could probably borrow. "So what's your favorite magical creature?"
That's when someone else nearby spoke and I zipped my head around happily hoping spotting a new potential friend. I wasn't being as shy and nervous so that was a good sign. If one thing was certain, I do belong in Hufflepuff no matter what. The people here seemed to make me come out of my shell. It was nice meeting new people. "Hello there I'm Ayleid! Pleasure to meet you."

The Hufflepuff Table 2018-2019
A girl had responded to Mibs greeting, and she perked up with a huge grin. Shoving her glasses up the bridge of her nose, she started chattering. "Hi there, Ayleid! I'm Mibs, but my real name is Mississippi. Most people end up calling me Mibs anyways." She paused for breath, and cupped her steaming goblet in her hands. She tipped it back and took a sip of tea, the hot liquid warming her.
She tipped her head back, contemplating the ceiling once again. How had they pulled off that enchantment? It seemed so hard, so complicated! Then again, she was only a first-year, so she wasn't expected to know anything like that. She wanted to know anyways. The sky shimmered and the blue was so light and heartwarming.
"What do you think about the ceiling? Isn't the enchantment just so creative? Not to mention the sky itself is always awe inspiring." Her voice rang around the table, probably a bit to loudly- if she noticed that, she didn't care. Her questions weren't really aimed at anyone, just so anyone who wanted to respond could.
She laughed to herself, taking another sip of tea before setting her goblet down and picking up her fork to take a bite of food.

The Hufflepuff Table 2018-2019
"Albino's have eye trouble?! I didn't even know that. My favorite magical creature would have to be a Thunderbird." he exclaimed. "Also, nice to encounter you on this lovely evening. I introduce myself as Miko. Mibs, you have a pretty nice name!" Miko politely stated, looking at Mibs.
The new people just kept coming and not one of them was very mean! Miko wanted to be a gentleman or just known as plainly the polite Hufflepuff. Maybe his goal was just to get all the ladies but who knows for sure?
Miko tapped his fingers on the table and looked around at all the tables. Only a bit later he spotted another albino and thought if he should point them out to Ayleid. Figuring it would've been better if he just kept to himself, Miko reached for a plate with some strawberries on it. Whilst reaching for the berries he happened to burn his hand on a near by tea kettle.
"Bloody hell!" the boy exclaimed. He held his hand close to his face and blew on the wound. Then Miko grabbed a glass of water and poured a bit on his burn quickly. He squeezed his hand in hopes that it would ease the pain.

"It's nice to meet you too, Miko- and thanks! I like my name too. Yours is pretty unique." She grinned, lifting a hand to adjust her glasses once more. Mibs nibbled at her food, studying the faces around her and trying to familiarize herself with her new Hufflepuff fellows. Everyone seemed to be nice, and pretty welcoming. By watching them talk with eachother, she could guess who was new and who had been there for a while.
Mibs jumped in her seat when Miko cried out, her glasses flying askew. She turned to the boy with worry, her eyebrows furrowing. "Oh my stars! Are you alright?" She watched Miko reach out for water and dumped the liquid on his hand. He must have been burned.
She blinked, hissing in guilt when she realized that she had gathered so many teapots around. Mibs grabbed another goblet of water, sliding it over to the boy. Feeling that she should help even more, she scanned the table and her gaze landed on a cloth napkin.
Ooh, this should work, she mused to herself, and tipped over yet another goblet to drench it in water. She passed the wet napkin to Miko. "Here! If you wrap it around the burn and apply pressure, it should help."

I smiled happily at Mibs. She was so nice to me even though she just met me. Most people here were the same way, it was a nice feeling. "I think it's very clever, a great way to capture the first years attention. Maybe one day we will learn the enchantment so we can do it at home!" I smiled once more. What was it with me and smiling so much? I normally never smile, huh, how odd.
As Miko introdcued himself to Mibs I zoned out a little. I didn't understand why everyone couldn't be this happy. My family sure wasn't. I wondered what the secret to happiness was. Maybe it required going down a dark path first.
All of a sudden Miko exclaimed which knocked me back into the real world. He had burnt his hand on a tea kettle. I reached in the pocket of my robes and pulled out a pack of ice. I carried a pack of ice with me everywhere to prevent me from getting heat strokes, or at least I think that's what they're called. Russia's weather was much cooler so I was still getting used to the heat being a ton warmer. With in a month or two I shouldn't need the ice pack anymore. I quickly handed it to Miko so he could cool off his hand.

He would wrap his hand and put the ice pack on his burn. "Thank you for helping, you both." Miko uttered to the two girls. He glanced at both of their worried looks and chuckled, "I'm alright it just hurts a bit, that's about all." he stated with a smile. The boy looked at the burnt hand and rubbed around the wound.
"Er, what about you Mibs? What's your favorite magical creature?" Miko said, tilting his head a little. Both the girls had been really caring for him but all he did for 'em was introduce himself and question the two. Doesn't really seem like a very caring thing to do but he couldn't really think of anything else to do. Miko stuffed his hands in his pockets. In one of his pockets it seemed he was searching for something but I wonder what it was.
The boy did a sort of half smile and placed his head on the table. "Oh my stars!", Miko thought. He thought it was a pretty funny thought usually you hear "Merlin's beard!" or "Bloody hell!" it was a unique way to cry out. He'd never heard that before but he liked it. Miko also liked Ayleid's smile it was settle but bright.

"You're welcome." She said, giving him a small nod. She had always felt indebted to care for others when they were hurt, whether they needed an ice pack for bruises or some solid advice. When Miko questioned what her favorite magical creature was, she scooted back in her seat, sipping her tea and humming as she thought.
"Ghosts, it has to be ghosts. I've always loved the paranormal, and ghosts are real, so why can't other things be? Anyways, aren't ghosts just amazing? Think about it. They can tell us all about what life used to be like!" She laughed, blissfully unaware that she was rambling. "I wonder, if I became a ghost when I died, then I could tell future generations about history. It's amazing, honestly!"
She grinned, tipping her goblet back to drain it. She set it down on the table, sliding back to her earlier position. Mibs was feeling pretty happy, and very excited. Hufflepuff didn't seem so bad! Everyone was so nice and welcoming, and she didn't suspect that all the other houses were the same way.
She glanced at the other tables, watching the people for a moment. Then she looked back and asked Miko and Ayleid a question of her own. "What are you excited to be doing here? I'm really, really excited for Care of Magical Creatures, Transfiguration, and History of Magic. Oh, and learning to to magic in general!"

The Hufflepuff Table 2018-2019
"I'm mostly excited about going to Care of Magical Creatures to be honest. I mean that next to the DADA classes. I've always loved magical creatures no matter how dangerous they are. Also, a ghost is a pretty interesting magical spirit but I'm not a big fan of them." Miko said quickly, not even thinking about how much he was blurting out. The boy had always been a HUGE fan of DADA and magical creatures. He'd been wanting to actually meet a beast, being or spirit just for the reason of doing that. Then there was the DADA classes which he just wanted to do because his family had always told him that he was gonna be a hero someday and Miko thought Defense Against the Dark Arts was the class to mold someone into a hero.
"And not to be nosey or anything, but are you Muggle Born? I'm just wondering so no need to feel offended." he said. Miko just thought that it would be a bit odd if a Pure Blood said "Oh, and learning about magic in general" since they're parents normally would expose them to magic. Well they didn't have to be just Pure Bloods it could've just been wizard born which was okay but not commonly discussed among the others.

She winced a little at Miko's question. "Well, I'm actually a half-blood. My mum is a muggle, and my papa was a wizard. He died when I was really young, so the only things I know about the wizarding world is what I heard from my mum, and what I discovered here." She explained, sobering up when she thought of her father.
"It's okay to ask, though. I don't mind." She shrugged, offering a small smile. "I do act kind of different, don't I?" Mibs laughed, knowing that Miko didn't have any intention of being rude. He was just curious.
She nibbled at her food, thinking about all the changes she was going through from being at Hogwarts. She was going to spend a year here, learning all about magic and what to do with it. She was going to do her best to earn points for the house she was in ( which, by the way, Mibs was already biased about ). Of course, she was going to make lots of friends and stick by them.
This old school seemed to be great already.
She tapped her chin for a moment, pondering what to ask her two companions. "Hm. What do you two like to do for fun? Or hobbies, I guess." She finally questioned, shoving her glasses up her nose.

The Hufflepuff Table 2018-2019

It didn't take long for Dorothy to remember just why she didn't enjoy the Hufflepuff table. The other children were talking loudly, revealing personal information, and worst of all.. Laughing! How obnoxious! How rude! How downright disrespectful to those wishing to enjoy some silence. She had pulled put a book moments ago, attempting to study during her meal. However, it was nearly impossible to focus on her work when so much chatter and noise was buzzing in her ears.
The proud little Hufflepuff turned towards her housemates with an exasperated sigh. "Do. You. Mind?" she said harshly, turning to a nearby student who was asking more questions Mibs. "Unlike you lot, scholastic achievement actually matters to me. Keep the silly talk in the common room, if you please!"
These kids just didn't get it. Conversations were for making deals, or getting what you wanted without fighting. They shouldn't be used for stupid small talk. Dorothy had always been taught to use her words carefully. She was, right? She was using her words to carefully let these mudbloods know that she didn't appreciate their existence. "You shouldn't speak so freely about your blood. You should be silent about your inferiority. It's more polite." She smiled coldly at the girl before turning back to her book.
The fact of the matter was simple. Dorothy was better than these people. She had pure blood, a mansion at home, good grades, and didn't know a single muggle. Why was she even bothering to talk to these people? Why was History of Magic so boring?
Dorothy slammed her book shut and slid it off the table onto the bench. She stared balefully at the others around her, as if daring them to contradict her words.
