Quidditch Ravenclaw vs Gryffindor - Winter 2023

The Ravenclaw Captain let out a breath of relief as her team lept into action. Lavinia was absolutely killing it with the Quaffle, and the poor Gryffindors stood no chance. Meanwhile, Cecily herself was having quite a bit of success, showing no mercy as she subtly-- or maybe not so subtly, judging by the ref's outrage-- crashed into Elena, knocking her clean off her broom. Psht, Ravenclaw didn't even need an opening tactic to beat the Gryffindors. They ate lions for breakfast.

Frustration grew as she saw Elena land safely on the back of a teammate's broom, but the feeling was short-lasted as another, much stronger feeling unseated it-- the feeling of being absolutely slammed by a human Bludger. Well, this was a new one, and Cecily wasn't sure she liked it very much as she was sent tumbling from her precious Silver Arrow. She'd been knocked off her broom once before, last summer, and she couldn't say it was something she looked forward to. Her collision with the ground, however muddy and grassy, had been nothing short of miserable, and she was sure this one would be no different. And yet, thankfully, the impact never came, and Cecily found herself safe and sound (at least for now) still in the air.

"Fucking hell," she muttered, regaining her bearings. Seeing the name on the jersey in front of her, she addressed her saviour. "Thanks, Damion. I owe you one." She'd half expected to be on Sylvain's broom-- he seemed to be the most adept at catching falling players, and was usually the one to do so-- but glancing around, she couldn't spot him anywhere on the pitch. Weird.

Ethan couldn't believe it as he watched Lavinia score the quaffle and tie their score. “NoOoOo!” His heart quickened as he frantically tried to think of something - anything - that could give his team the edge.

Then, an idea came to him. He quickly hit the bludger to Lavina. Sad to say, he missed. “Darn it!” he cursed.
 
Ethan felt a surge of relief and excitement as he saw Pax, successfully hit Lavinia and Jorah! and Haley successfully blatched Cecily. “YEAHH!” he shouted, pumping his fist in the air.

He saw her out of the corner of his eye, falling towards the ground at breakneck speeds. His heart was pounding with panic as he saw her teammate, Elena, get knocked off her broom. But Hanna saved her just in time, swooping in and catching her before she hit the ground. He was impressed by Hannah's quick thinking and bravery.

• Bludger attacks that knock a player off a broom (KOB) made by players with this ability have a 25% chance to also break said player's broom. Bludgering, bludger backbeats, and richochets apply.

A lot of things happened very quickly and Elena didn't quite know how to process it looking everything over with a bemused eye. Somehow, someway, Ravenclaw had managed to tie the score as both teams battled it out. It made finding the Snitch more essential than ever although that was probably more properly done from a broom. The sharp degree of pain racked there as suddenly, the Gryffindor was thrown from her broom although thankfully, her reunion with the ground was cut short as Hannah swooped in like the saving grace that she was.

"Thanks." She said wincing, that had been a rather nasty blatch. Ravenclaw was sending a message and that was they wouldn't stop at anything at all, something she got loud and clear. They certainly wouldn't be so bold once Elena got her hands around that golden ball, it was all a matter of getting it within her grasp as the points kept adding up. It was essential to end this early before Ravenclaw got too big of a lead.

"Let's find that Snitch." Maybe score a few points along the way.

It was like a snap of the fingers and the first strange setting of the quidditch game turned into the usual competition. It seemed as if the Ravenclaw players had awakened and were giving their all to make up for the strange break after the start of the game. Bludgers flew past their heads, aimed at various players. One of them was from Haley, while Lavinia was picking up the points for Ravenclaw. If Haley had had the time, she would have given her a quick wink, hoping no one would see it. But she didn't have time for that. Her Bludger hit and she was seen doing it. Lap.

She would have preferred to score a few more points for the team, but that was the way it was now and Haley tried not to get too upset. As she flew an arc to begin her lap, she kept an eye out for Elena. "You got this girl!" she cheered her friend on. She knew she had it in her. "The snitch will be yours!" she encouraged, leaning forward in her broom to gain speed.

Jeez, whatever stupor the other team had been in sure vanished quick enough. And with a reckoning too! It didn’t take long at all for them to catch up and bloody hell if that wasn’t something.

Well, at least it wasn’t his problem yet, he thought tiredly. That was the problem for the active members of their team, but he knew maybe they’d get lucky and get another round or 2 of the Ravenclaws just not playing again.

Unlikely. Once was probably enough for anyone.

Ravenclaw managed to begin moving again. Tai wondered what on earth happened to the team as she watched Lavinia streak down the pitch for the third time, ending with the Quaffle through the hoop. Only a few moments later, the scores were even. Hopefully the players clad in blue could keep it up.
