The library was filled with melodic silence. Tiny snips of chatter and the crisp folding of parchment filled the rows of towering shelves. It was truly a harmonious atmosphere, perfect for studying.
Reuben released a slight chuckle at Marek, noticing his sigh of relief. "I am not really good at studying..." he mimicked him teasingly. He had a wide and cheeky grin on his face; what was so difficult in studying that Marek wasn't good at it? The thought amused Reuben. "It is extremely difficult to sit and read after all" - he tittered. His accent was especially perceptible when he was jesting. "Don't worry I won't give you the answers." he winked at Marek playfully. Reuben kept giggling to himself trying to settle down but to no avail, as he was progressively becoming louder and more obnoxious.
It was one of those moments. Something so silly and meaningless kept him amused; far more than it should've some may argue. He leaned down on the table - holding his head cackling; grabbing the pile of books beside him and pulling them closer to shield himself from the librarian's gaze. He was fully aware he could be kicked out for making so much noise, even if unintentionally.

Marek giggled at Reuben's teasing remarks. He had to stop himself because things could turn sour if these two got spotted messing about by the librarian.
"I don't think teasing me is going to help me get better at studying Rubie!" Marek whispered teasingly.
After his remark, he proceeded to clear his throat and looked in Reuben's direction, greeting him again with a smile.
"Thanks for agreeing to my terms. I do appreciate it," Marek said softly. It was unusual for him to have this sort of sudden switch, but he did genuinely appreciate Reuben's help. That probably explains why his accent was a little dense. He still wondered whether Reuben had saw him that day in the Courtyard, taking his frustrations out on his wand. Though Marek is pretty much over it at this point in time, he dreads the idea of having to open up to someone about his life so soon. It does not feel right to him.
He shook his head slightly, grounding himself back into the present. He took out a quill from his robe and decided that he would prepare himself for note taking. After all, he knew very well that just listening to Reuben wouldn't make him become a better learner nor a better wizard. He looked in the librarian's direction before facing Reuben again once more and giving a nod, signalling to him that they have cured themselves of any attention.

Reuben looked over to Marek; still in stitches from his earlier tomfoolery. He nodded at Marek's appreciation and playfully nudged him at his teasing. He smirked at his 'study' partner as he slowly began to compose himself, the books from earlier still towering beside him.
Reuben noticed Marek was seemingly getting ready to take notes - as if he was going to teach him. A devious grin crept onto his face as he reached into his bag, revealing a whistle akin to the ones they've used in class to practice the Whistle to Watch Spell. He had no intention of lecturing Marek on boring homework questions. To him, the best way to learn Transfiguration was through practice. He picked up his wand and placed the whistle in the middle of the table as he moved the pile of books to make some space.
"You're not gonna need that" - he pointed at Marek's quill with his wand. "At least not right now." He readied his wand at the whistle and swiftly traced the accurate wand movement as inscribed on the homework sheet: an inward out swirl with a flick at the end. "Tunc Sibilus!" - he incanted as the whistle morphed into a traditional windup watch. "You try" - he smiled at Marek and gestured to the watch. "Reparifarge" - Reuben incanted as the watch swiftly altered back into a whistle.

Marek gulped and looked at the whistle Reuben took out, then at his quill. Eventually, after being caught off-guard, he proceeded to put his quill away and nervously picked up his wand. Marek's attention fell to the miniature scar from dropping his wand at the courtyard, making the owl-shaped bottom look like it had a battle scar, though it was tiny.
This would be his first time practising a spell in action, and he was quite nervous respectively. Although, there was also a sense of determination. He clutched his wand tightly, glanced at the homework sheet, and took a deep breath. He pointed his wand at the whistle, swirled his wand, and performed the incantation: "Tunc Sibilis!"
A small spark leaped out of his wand and faded away as soon as it hit the table. Marek frowned, and pointed his wand at the whistle again. With a serious look on his face, he swirled the wand more aggressively and repeated the incantation: "Tunc Sibilis!"
His wand let out a popping sound which was soon followed by the whistle getting pushed to the edge of the table. The part you're typically supposed to blow into spewed out a leather strip and the top of it grew a few watch hands that were stuck between gears. Upon closer inspection, the bezel was on the bottom of the whistle. Marek looked in Reuben's direction with an awkward smile and picked up the newly transfigured...or well, half-transfigured whistle before it fell off the edge of the table.
"Well, that was a bust..haha.."
Marek stroked the back of his head and squinted his eyes in an irritant manner, since he forgot he had a bruise there. He seemed disappointed in himself, but was not surprised.

Reuben glanced at the monstrosity Marek has created from the whistle. It didn't exactly turn out as a watch but it was something! Something that Reuben found exceedingly hilarious. "Oop- !" he dramatically exclaimed, covering his mouth with his left hand as it hid the grin that now engulfed his face. "Well that was... something! You made a wee mutant" - he chuckled as he looked at the poor unfortunate thing on the desk. Reuben rested his hand on Marek's shoulder in a reassuring fashion - "I think you did great mate." Reuben's playful sarcasm and teasing felt natural when he was around the young Hufflepuff, almost as if they were soulmates... It was easy for Reuben to have casual banter with Marek. Moreso than others; they seemed to just click far more than anyone he's met before. It was incredible; they'd only known each other for a couple of days.
Reuben picked up the partially transfigured whistle and held it out in his palm. He effortlessly flicked his wand and softly enunciated the incantation for the untransfiguration spell: "Reparifarge." He smiled as the object morphed back into a whistle.
"Don't worry, you'll get better at it with practice. I know it's hard" - he smiled at Marek. He meant what he said. Marek seemed to be new to all this, well, he has said so himself. Maybe he's muggle-born? Reuben thought. It would certainly make sense. It's been on his mind for a bit now. He ever so slightly tilted his head as he blurted his thoughts out: "Are you muggle-born? Also, why did you try to squeeze your wand to death the other day? In the courtyard." With that, the cat was now out of the bag. His expression was a little more serious than before, although he still had his playful aura to him. It was obvious, however, that his questions were said with intent and a yearning for answers.
