A PURIST'S OPINION

────── date. 11 feb. 23 ─ outfit ─ @Aurora Griffith I stood in my dorm, curling my hair as i concentrated my eyes on my reflection in the mirror. The room was quiet: my dormmate had been sent off to St Mungos for treatment after she stabbed that Lucian boy, only a day after our first Narcissa Malfoy dorm meeting, which was almost a month back. I wasn't really fazed: i barely knew the boy in question, but it wasn't great to know that your dormie goes around stabbing people dead of night. The one night that i finally felt like i could get some sleep, ended up with me being woken up by a boy's screams, just because i was so exhausted, i didn't hear Ava creep out the dorm!
Once done, i slung my satchel over my shoulder, and left the dorm, entering the library minutes later.
Silence. That's all i heard in the library, with the occasional distant whisper. I searched the shelf for an interesting read, running my fingers across every book's spines, the different textures of their covers against my skin. I paused at a fairly thick, black and silver book, with the words 'The Pureblood Directory' printed as the title. Curiosity hit like bludger and i pulled it carefully out from the shelves, before returning to my table, where the rest of my belongings were. Sitting myself down, i cautiously opened the book, and flicked to the first page.
'𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝕻𝖚𝖗𝖊𝖇𝖑𝖔𝖔𝖉 𝕯𝖎𝖗𝖊𝖈𝖙𝖔𝖗𝖞.
𝔴𝔯𝔦𝔱𝔱𝔢𝔫 𝔟𝔶:'
There was no specific name, but i looked further down the page to see another small piece of text.
'𝔭𝔯𝔢𝔰𝔲𝔪𝔢𝔡 𝔴𝔯𝔦𝔱𝔱𝔢𝔫 𝔟𝔶 ℭ𝔞𝔫𝔱𝔞𝔫𝔨𝔢𝔯𝔲𝔰 𝔑𝔬𝔱𝔱 𝔦𝔫 𝔱𝔥𝔢 1930𝔰'. That name was definiely familiar, and it rang a bell, but i just COULDN'T remember where i heard it. Probably from Mother or Father.
I turned over the page, my eyes scanned the contents page.

I quickly flicked to Chapter 3, searching for my surname. Lamacraft. Lamacraft. Lamacraft. Spotting some familiar names in the book, i finally saw my surname.

'Grandma.' i thought with a smile. She's probably just relaxing in her home with Ganddad, enjoying a cup of tea. I missed her terribly. Her cooking was to die for, and i couldn't visit her during the Christmas holidays, due to the fact that my parents stupidly filled up any free time slot with pureblood events and balls.423/200

Since late January, I had been absorbed in a genealogy book of my grandmother's family, the Moriartys. Apparently, they were an old Scottish pure-blood family. Made sense, my grandmother's maiden name was Moriarty, and she a Scottish pureblood. Sometimes, I was walking around the castle with my nose in the book. So now, I decided to do more research by going to the best place in the world: the library. While there, I spotted a dark-haired girl about my age sitting down at a table, reading a book. "Hmm, Pureblood Directory...I'm so sorry to disturb you, but that's a very interesting book you're reading..." I couldn't help but take a small peek at the page that the girl was on. Lamacraft...huh? I didn't know that many pureblood families, and I was sure there were a whole lot. Maybe. To me, it was really interesting, all the different families of wizardkind there were. But they would've had to have children with muggles or else, the wizards would've become extinct, wouldn't they? Luckily, this was no legacy school or anything. Nothing like Durmstrang, I heard...but what did other people think about half-bloods and muggle-borns, because I definitely supported rights for all muggle-borns, and it made zero sense how half-bloods or muggle-borns or basically anyone who wasn't a pureblood but had magical potential, could be denied the right to a good magical education? It made no sense. But that wasn't my place to judge, at least, not yet. For now, I was mildly interested in the book that the girl at the table was reading...
