Breath, Relax Closed

Kat nodded writing all of the people down in the area near their respected questions. The only one that she had known beforehand was Salazar Slytherin since she had drilled that bit of information into her head, knowing that she would have to know who made her house. She smiled at Hestia, listening to her speak even though it was a bit of a ramble, but Kat didn't mind, if she became friends with the girl then that was fine by her, she would have a study buddy and someone to hang out with. Kat ran her fingers through the back of her purple hair, it was short so it didn't get too tangled and her mother had bewitched her hair to be straight for the time being, which Kat still didn't understand how she did it or if there was even a charm or spell to do so but decided against asking her mother. 

"My mums a Wizard, my father is a muggle. Mum likes doing magic around me and teaching how to do spells whereas my father... well... He doesn't know that she's teaching me, he doesn't even know that I'm at Hogwarts. He'll probably go over to my mums' house in a few months to check in but... it doesn't really matter does it?" She talked normally though her voice was dull and she was barely paying attention. Kat flicked her head to the side, making her hair fall into place in front of her red eye. She wrote slowly, digging the heels of her shoes into the green grass.

Go to her mum's house in a few months to check in? Hestia wondered if that meant the girl's parents had split up. She couldn't imagine a life without her mother and father together, and kind of felt bad for Kat, though she decided against bringing that particular topic up. She just nodded and glanced back down at her homework, filling in a few more questions before sighing and falling backwards into the grass. "Call me un-Ravenclaw, but I really hate homework." She pursed her lips in thought and brought the worksheet up so it was hovering above her face. 

"Mum and Dad were the ones who really got me to do my homework, and now that they're not here I'm kinda scared I'm gonna fail. It's just the first few days and they're already giving us homework, who knows how many papers I'm gonna have to write!" She let go of the worksheet and allowed it to gently drift onto her face. Hestia sighed softly, making the paper move a bit. "I suppose I could make myself a reminder somehow. Do you think there's a spell for that?" She looked over at Kat, making the paper fall off her face. "Like, an alarm clock spell or something. Maybe they'll teach us that soon."

Kat shook her head, smiling lightly at the Ravenclaw "I'm sure everyone hates homework. Don't worry." she continued to write, moving the paper to the side so that she could work on her charms homework that she would be able to do without any help from the other girl. "And no, I don't think there is a spell for that... Unless I missed one? I shouldn't have, I've gone through all of the books... Mum explained all of the spells that she knew to me..." She started to mumble to herself the more that she spoke, racking her brain, wanting to know if there was a spell for that and she just so happened to overlook it. 

Kat had always taken pride in her reading and how she never missed anything when doing so, even if she had to reread the pages multiple times before she fully understood what was meant. She sighed, biting her lower lip, a habit that she had since she was a small(er) child. 
Bring out the book of spells?
And the notebook?
Yea. Said the male voice and Kat nodded to herself, mumbling "Accio Notebook," and then "Accio Book of spells." The two books landed a few feet away, causing Kat to sigh, she really needed to practice a bit more until it landed in her hand. She pointed her wand at the two objects and said "Accio," making the two objects to fly into her hand and she opened the notebook, scanning through it before shaking her head and looking through the book of spells, her body swaying side to side as it normally did and she didn't mind it, though it did make her look sickly or like she was going to faint at any moment.

Hestia watched the girl do her spells with a smile, which then faded slightly as she noticed the other's swaying. "Are you alright?" She asked, sitting up. "You look like you don't feel good... I can take you to the nurse if you want." Not that Hestia really knew where the nurse was, but damn if she wasn't going to try for a new friend. She brushed her hair out of her face and tilted her head slightly at Kat.  "Madame Pomfrey I think her name is. The nurse I mean. I don't really know much about her to be honest. I just over heard some other kids talking about her."

Hestia glanced down at Kat's feet as if checking to make sure they were safely rooted in the ground. "Maybe she'll make you drink a potion. My dad made me drink a few when I got sick, tasted awful but I felt better right away. I'm sure she's got something for you, and hey, maybe you'll be able to lie down and skip a couple classes?" She said almost hopefully, lying back down again. "Ooh I could use a nap." She mumbled to herself, considering faking a stomach ache but also not wanting to have to drink any nasty potions.

Kat looked at Hestia, smiling "I'm fine, I just sway. I'm not gon' pass out somen', I'll be perfectly fine," She spoke, setting the book down, a small frown on her face since she couldn't find a spell to do what she wanted but was slightly proud that she hadn't, that meant that the spell was likely nonexistent. 

"And Madam Pomfrey is really nice, she only gives out potions when completely needed... though she can be a bit extra when it comes to taking care of her patients." Kat sat on the ground, smiling at the girl "And I'll be your alarm clock for now on, I'll remind you to do your homework and we can study together." She closed her eyes, laying back and relaxing in the grass.
Food.
Shut up, Kyle.
Bite me.
You're not food.
Fine... But she seems nice.
Yea.
Too nice.
Whatcha mean?
I don't trust it. 
Shut up. She cant be too bad.
She silently scoffed at the voice, the girl couldn't be bad, plus she had already said that she would study with her along with helping and reminding her about her homework that the professors are going to assign to them both.

Hestia smiled again and nodded. "If you say you won't pass out, then I'll believe you." She said with a nod. She listened to Kat's description of Madame Pomfrey and shrugged. "Maybe it's good that she's extra, makes her patients doubly better." she nodded again, making a face like she just said something incredibly wise before falling into a fit of giggles.

When Kat said that she would help her remember to do her homework, Hestia perked up. "Really? Thank you!" She said with glee, lying down once again. "This is so cool, I really didn't think I'd make too many friends this fast, but here we are. Two friends already! This is an accomplishment."  she said with another nod. She stretched her arms out above her head with a content sigh and shut her eyes. "Maybe coming here won't be so bad after all. I was really nervous on the train you know. When I saw mum and dad waving goodbye it all kinda just... hit me. Like, I'm not going to see them until christmas. Isn't that crazy? Being here without parents' supervision? I know we have the professors and all, but I still haven't gotten used to the freedom between classes."

Kat shrugged, "I'm used to being left alone, my mum tends to let me do what I want and doesn't keep a watchful eye on me unless she feels like something is wrong," she explained after listening to Hestia talk about how she was used to her parents and how when she was on the train was when it finally hit her that she wasn't going to see her until Christmas. "The train ride was pretty normal for me I guess, I met three other people but I don't really think I'm ever going to see them again, or at least I won't be talking to them too much," she opened her black eye and looked lazily at the Ravenclaw, not really knowing what else to say and not wanting to strike up a meaningless conversation when there was no point in doing so, after all, it just annoyed her since it never really got anywhere. "Were your parents strict?" she asked after a second of thinking, ignoring the voice that was persistent on talking to her again. Two friends already. Kat caught onto that and smiled, at least she was making friends. With that thought, she closed her eye again.

Hestia thought about the question for a moment in silence. "Mmm.... Not really. They were pretty chill compared to others I guess, though I still got in trouble a lot." She giggled a little thinking about what she had done to get into said trouble. "I pulled a lot of pranks on them actually, probably what landed me in such trouble."  she said with a laugh.  "Like one time I turned my mom's hair pink. I was grounded for a whole month!" She grinned and glanced over at Kat.

"Sounds like your mom wasn't strict at all." She said with a bit of a laugh. "What was that like? Did you take advantage of it?" she asked, her eyes flicking up to the sky. "Honestly I wouldn't have. Too scared to do bad stuff you know? I feel like the cops'll get me if I even get an offer to do something bad, even if it isn't illegal or anything." She chuckled again and sighed softly. "What about you?" she asked. "Would you ever smoke or anything like that?" She sighed again, her mind buzzing with thoughts of the teenagers she often caught smoking out behind the gas station. She wondered if she would ever get brave enough to even want to be like them. 

Kat nodded, smiling "Yea, I did what I wanted but I wasn't the type to get into too much trouble and do stuff that I knew was wrong, that was probably why my mum didn't watch me too much and let me do what I wanted. The only time that she really butted into my life was to push me into making friends and not being an outcast and staying in my room reading all day instead of socializing." She shrugged, smiling before shaking her head. "I'm not a good kid, I do what I want even if I know its bad, unless I know that its not worth it but if I want something I take it, so I already do bad things, I mean, I already broke into where they hold the brooms so I could go fly around with James and Its not even been a week in yet." She somehow smiled at the thought yet frowned at the same time, causing the dimples in her chin to become visible.  "No, I wouldn't smoke cause I value my lungs, but I would probably do something bad when I get older, I gotta admit." she opened her eyes, glancing over at Hestia.

Hestia nodded as she listened and thought about it for a second. "Fair enough I guess." She was silent for a moment, then looked over at Kat again. "How was flying? Did you guys crash into anything?" She asked softly. That was one thing she had barely even thought about, but now that the other had brought it up, she found herself actually kind of excited about it. She stared at Kat, wondering what the feeling of wind against her face was like, how it felt to be so high up. Hestia had never been off the ground really, she'd never even been in a plane before. Not that being in a plane would be nearly as cool as flying on a broomstick.

She grinned a little as she thought and stretched her arms up over her head. "I can't wait to fly. I bet it's so exciting! I don't think I'd try out for quidditch though. Not that I'm not good at sports, I was really good in gym in my old school."  She said with a nod. She moved her hands to lie over her stomach and looked Kat up and down again, this time in a more rebellious light. She smiled a little at the other girl.
