James was ecstatic. A several hour train ride, a slightly uncomfortable boat travel across the Black Lake, and he and the other first years were shuttled into the small hall. He gasped at the beauty of it all. His shoes made a pleasant tap, tap, tap across the stone floor, and his eyes wandered around the large room, running a finger along the oak paneling, staring up at the tall ceiling. Paintings lined the wall, and he couldn’t help but stare at all of them. Famous wixen, those who had done good for the community, heroes, contributors to a better future. I’m gonna be like them, someday. Comforted by this thought, James looked around at the gaggle of first years. They all looked a bit nervous, but… well, who wouldn’t be? The Sorting Ceremony dictates where you’ll eat and sleep for the next seven years. Course, it wouldn’t be up to them. The Sorting Hat looks into your mind to find the perfect house. Not like we can change the most private things about ourselves.
James made his way towards the large fireplace at the end of the hall, warming his hands. “This fireplace is huge,” he announced to no one in particular. “Marble, too. This place is honestly well made, especially for a several hundred year old castle.”

Freya enters the small hall completely taken aback by how beautiful it was!
She was ready to be sorted, ready to make friends, ready to get into trouble and ready to explore Hogwarts, she was read for it all!

She was so lost in her excitement that she forgot about being sorted into a house!
According to Freya she should get Ravenclaw but she won't mind it if it was some other house either!

"it is huge isn't it! my dad used to love this area!" she exclaims to the boy she spotted talking to himself.
"it is definitely well kept! And so very beautiful!!" she puts her hand behind her back.
"oh and I'm Freya! Nice to meet you!" she introduces herself with a huge smile.
"what house do you hope you get?"
Freya has a bad habit of blabbering. She talks too much too fast. Some find it annoying and some find it cute?
She hopes her possibly new friend likes it and introduces himself too!
He looks like a person who would love to play pranks with her!
Hopefully they got sorted into the same house! Hopefully they both get Ravenclaw.
She looks at the fire hopefully.

"oh darling of mine, please don't let go"

James turned to look at the girl who had worked her way beside him. He didn't even realize she was there until she spoke. Too lost in his own head, he guessed. "Me da' went to school here as well! I suppose most our parents did, unless we have a buncha travelers here." He grinned, running his fingers through his hair, grazing the hair clip Azrael, the nice enby on the train, gave him. He'd have to give it back to them at some point, he decided. He liked the clip, it just didn't do much, especially with how poofy his hair can be. He looked up at the ceiling before continuing. "You're right though, it's real beautiful. What we've seen of it, at least. Wonder if there's hidden nooks and crannies in this place. I mean, there's only one way to find out, right? Though that'll be after I get settled in..." He folded his arms behind his head, glancing sideways at the girl. She was slightly smaller than he was, and her hair fell in slight waves. He nodded as she introduced herself. "Freya? That's a really cool name! I'm James, James Flynn. As fer houses, I'm hoping for Gryffindor! Fortune favors the bold and all that, and I'm definitely raring to get some fortune!" He let out a short burst of a laugh, eyes squinching up as it echoed throughout the hall. "So, where from England are you from? At least I think that's an English accent, could be wrong, but I know fer a fact it ain't Irish!"
James had been told to speak slower several times in his life, especially of those from England. He couldn't help if his accent wasn't understandable, it's where he was born! Besides, Freya seemed nice enough to at least ask him to repeat himself...

"that is wonderful! My dad went here too!"
She says excited to have something in common with her first new friend here!

"oh I'm sure there are secret nooks and crannies we haven't seen yet! And of course we'll have to look for them ourselves" she say with a sly smile, excited to explore all of the school.
Freya has always been a trouble maker and overall just loves having fun no matter the risk.

"do you think settling in here will be hard?" she asks as her smile slowly begins to turn into a frown.
She hadn't really thought about settling in or anything other than just somehow making it past the sorting.

"thank you James!" she grins at the comment.
"i love your name too!
Gryffindor is a really cool house! I hope you do get sorted in Gryffindor! It would suit you definitely"
she nods smiling secretly hoping she too gets sorted into Gryffindor.
Almost everyone in her family except for Quillion and Amara were sorted into Gryffindor.
Her brothers were a different story.

"you guessed right! I'm from South-end-on-sea in England, where are you from?"
She asks curious she couldn't exactly tell what accent James was talking in as she doesn't know much about accents and neither did she ever try to.

“Oh! Cobh, Ireland!! A little town near the sea! I’m guessin’ yer town is too, judgin’ by the name!” He was ecstatic that he already made another friend. Maybe this school would be more fun than he thought.
“What classes are ya lookin’ forward to? I want to do flying and Defense Against the Dark Arts the most, though I suppose the other classes’ll be good, too. Except History of Magic. Da said it was a bit of a drag, and I mean, we have books with pictures in them to explain this stuff instead! Why would I listen to some person lecture me about things when I could stare at pictures instead?” He kicked the ground, the scuff-scuff-scuff of his shoes pleasing to his ears.
It was then he realized she had asked another question, and his cheeks grew hot. “You asked me how settlin’ in will be, right? I mean, I dunno. Most people seem nice enough, judging from all the little cliques and stuff on the train, but…” he lowered his voice, looking at her intensely. “I’m still a bit nervous, t be honest. I mean, there weren’t a lot of kids my age in Cobh, and the ones that are… are Muggles. And there’s nothing wrong with that,” he hastily added, throwing his hands up. “I just mean… I wouldn’t have a lot in common with any of them. I don’t know muggle stuff.”
He wanted to learn more about muggles. Genuinely, he did. He just… hadn’t gotten around to it yet. Sheepishly, he pulled his hair in front of his face. “But, yeah. Settling in will be fun, I think.”
