Alan's eyes momentarily narrowed in thought as he tried to recall what he knew about the viper, before frowning in consideration. Was he... scared? Alan would spare Tiger a glance before focusing back on the duellists. "If you are sc-... uncomfortable with his presence, I can tell him to leave," he offered the kid, not wanting that the presence of a cat could end up messing up his focus on the game at hand. He offered Julian a smile. "He has been attending as many duels as I have and has never gotten harmed, I wouldn't allow that to happen," he hoped this would be reassuring enough. But he still considered to send the feline off on his way, knowing that perhaps Tiger wouldn't be all too happy about that. The both of them were inseperable most of the time Alan was neither in class nor in the Great Hall. Though even in the latter he had more than once managed to sneak the feline inside. Hanako had opted for a wind jinx, sent to the concerned Hufflepuff boy and hit him with it. Alan winced slightly knowing it must have hurt the second year. Pea however was not this lucky and missed her target with the tickling charm. Julian, Alan had to quickly correct himself inwardly, was not to be underestimated either as he managed to retaliate the attempted tickling charm with a painful knockback jinx of his own. Nessie who had went for the same spell and same target had missed and the spell burst into useless sparks as it hit the floor of the piste. Tiger, at this point in time had curled up on the moderator's podest and watched the sparks and spells fly with lazy interest.

[Spectator Thread, Day 1: Afternoon]

And then suddenly, he was forced to think of the cat. Just hearing the moderator’s ‘thoughtful’ suggestion, he scoffed. That was difficult enough to do with the curse of the boogies being inflicted on him and Pea’s needless comments about it. Vanes and his demon spawn received a harsh glare from the boy but only for a moment, since the duel started already.

The curse was getting worse. It showed through his sloppy movements. Perhaps it was also because of the cat that still continues to exist. Despite the curse surging through his body, he placed all his strength in landing a hit. And thankfully, it did. Despite a series of uncomfortable coughs after that, a grin showed itself on the boy’s face. “ Sooorrrrryyyyyyyyy~” they mocked the other boy with glee.

Pea was seemingly, not as fortunate as him. Even getting a flipendo on her by the end of the round. A result that made him chuckle, though his stuffed nose made it less easy to enjoy. “ Even after I made it easier for you? Psdftt “.

Anyway, time to get back at that cat. “ Like hell I’d get scared of that stupid cat. Keep him! See if I care!” He crossed his arms and scrowled bitterly. He clearly cares very much. But he was not someone that can easily take someone else’s help without thinking of it as an attack on his competence. Especially from someone with a cat. Though the thought of the cat leaving made him feel better, it was going to destroy his fragile ego.

New plan. He wins the duel quickly. And he can get as far away from the cat as possible the sooner it’s done.

Action: As Strategised & also being a menace to the Hufflepuffs

Nessie was quite glad to hear that the cat would be safe from their duelling. Unfortunately, it seemed her mind was more on the cat than on the duel, as her latest attempt at a spell missed. Not that this should've been surprising, considering that Nessie's accuracy had never really been great in the past. Still, she'd practiced hard and hoped that she'd keep improving.

At least the cat was safe, though? And at least Julian's aim was better than Nessie's, though Nessie didn't envy the ventus that Julian had taken for his troubles. She glanced at her partner in concern, raising her eyebrows to wordlessly inquire as to how he was doing. If Nessie was being honest, she'd seen Julian take scarier hits before, but she still wanted to make sure he was alright.

Not that she could really do much if he wasn't, considering how ineffective her duelling had been so far, but Nessie remained optimistic that after these few rounds of warmup she'd be a more useful partner.

To tell the truth. Pea’s heart was not completely on the game. This sport.. although it is important to her, it was just a mere distraction for whatever happened in her very “colorful” life. But whatever happened to her this year is just too much even for some drama crave girl like her. Another spell missed her target. Anger filled her cold heart again. But of course her partner still manage to hit his target. From originally impressed now she is just annoyed. No way that midget gonna steal her spotlight. But when she was about to sneer on Hana’s performance, a shot of light hits her. A familiar force of pain throw her off balance. Only curse words are coming into her mind at that point.

Alan watched as the duel went on, slightly grinning at Hanako as he insisted that Tiger should stay as he clearly wasn't scared of the feline. Alright, your choice," he said with a chuckle, before focusing on hat else was happening. Both Pea and Julian seemed to focus on being defensive rather than offensive, trying to focus on avoid being hit. Still Hanako would not let this distract him and hit the badger anyway with practices ease, as Julian as engulfed in flames as tradition demanded or so it seemed. Nessie would try to cast the very same spell, however was caught off guard by Pea's objective beauty for a moment as it almost seemed unnatural, that the incantation wouldn't come to mind.

[Spectator Thread, Day 1: Afternoon]

“ Sorrryyy~ Againnnn~ And - uehUruhhgh” he was not in the mood for anything, really. Perhaps if he wasn’t under such a troublesome curse, he would find it in himself to enjoy his small victory a bit longer. Motivated by his newfound goal to win asap so he can get away from Vanes and his personal demon spawn, it was no surprise that he hit his target. Though uncomfortable sneezes and his shivering body, he found no energy to make it known to Julian how sorry he really was again. He really wanted to do it. Truly. It was annoying when someone thought he was genuinely being sorry.

The temperature seemed to have dropped and he used his hands to rub his upper arms. Hoping the friction could at least soothe the ick he had for these past few rounds. Alas, nothing heals this but time. Never mind the fact that Fowl had no way to help him, but did he expect Fowl to have enough heart to spare him from his misery? No. Could he still resent her for it? Yes. Especially now that she’s having the most fun just dancing around the platform doing nothing.

“Getting tired of constantly missing your spells, hm Fowl? ” he coughed the mockery out bitterly. He would have taken out his frustration on the hufflepuffs, but they were too far away. And the demon spawn was another option, but he’ll get disqualified. Maybe. He wasn’t about to test that theory out.

It is starting to get quite interesting. Although she decided to focus on just trying to evade any incoming attack for now. That last Knockback Jinx is totally messed up her hair, and she did not like that. Pea run her finger through her slightly messy hair annoyingly. “Its all tangled now! Because of you!!” The white haired points her her sharp gaze at the Hufflepuff boy, who looks- how do she put this nicely.. Like he did not belong here. Dueling is a fierce sport that is only fun when you are bantering with your enemies, but all that boy do is just being the typical Hufflepuff that he is. What a nuisance.

Her partner however is definitely the opposite definition of boring. But they produce the same level of annoyingness. Hana did a few jabs on how she was not able to get any hits from the start of the duel. Although she agrees on her disappointing performance. She refuse to be looked down on by the halfwit midget boy.

“Sorry- I can’t hear you through all the disgusting things in your face.” Pea making disgusted face at her partner who still suffer another curse.

Nessie failed another spell, and meanwhile her partner was now on fire. This somehow seemed a whole lot worse than their last duel - in which honestly her spellwork had been subpar for most of it - but at least the last one hadn't literally gone up in flames.

Nessie froze, eyes transfixed by the fire. She knew this happened in duelling, but now that it was actually happening to Julian she was in disbelief. She knew she should do something, anything, but for a moment she simply ignored whatever conversation the others were having as she stared at the flames trying to process the new reality.
