Erica Posey//First Year//Slytherin

Erica's parents moved to Eastbourne, England after trying to escape the Wizarding World - hoping that a "normal" muggle life would be safer. Her parents took extra care into not letting her notice any magical element in their household. (But as you know, children are very observant and can be more perceptive than we expect them to be.) Suspiciously, they were always followed by owls.

Erica grew up middle-class and was humbled by both sets of grandparents who reminded her of her original roots and how they've come with nothing but the clothes they'd sewn themselves. She grew incredibly close to them as they often babysat or tutored her whenever her parents were busy with business endeavors. And although her father is a busy man; Erica is a 'daddy's girl'. She's the spitting image of him according to her grandparents, and takes after him in the personality department and when she was a toddler, she'd often mock his mannerisms and mirror the way he talked with his hands.
When she was old enough, she was allowed to help on the ships, pulling up crab cages and other nets and helping the workers organize the various seafood they caught. It got her picked on a bit in school since it was tomboyish and sometimes the smell of the boats stuck to her clothes, she didn't let it get her down too much as she enjoyed the adventure and excitement it brought to her otherwise normal, boring life.

She never knew she was a witch until her 9th birthday and her magic manifested before her very eyes, blowing up a light bulb in a panic when she can't make her younger brother stop crying. After this incident, she found her magic clumsy, but explosive. It was due to this that her parents decided it was safer that she study in Hogwarts and learn how to control her magic properly. Even then, her mother (who was the only 'other' witch in the family) didn't make an effort to teach her what she knows - it was as if she has forgotten.

From thereon, she received a visit from the M.O.M. to explain to her parents what this new development meant, she received her official invitation letter from Hogwarts and onward she went. She was sorted into Slytherin and it's caused her a bit of confusion; thinking she'd be put into Hufflepuff or at least Gryffindor because of her gentle, yet fierce demeanor. She found little comfort in being told the Sorting had never been wrong; seeing as there was no such thing as perfect. But as the days go by, she slowly feels herself drawn to the green and silver of her true house.

She is a bubbly girl, albeit very shy and somewhat frightened of her magic. She loves her younger brother dearly and will protect him at all costs. She didn't want to leave him, but agreed to please her parents. Her deciding point was when she was told she could hurt him if she didn't know how to control her magic properly.
