The Ravenclaw Table 2018-2019
Shay was pulled back from the depths of her ever-wondering thoughts when this girl across from her moved her hand towards her. For the second the other girl had her hand out she was about to shake her hand, to complete the gesture, untill she pulled her hand back. Shay tiled her head and examined Irene. She seemed nervous yet still made an attempt to socialize.
Either she's making an effort or she's afraid to be alone, Shay deduced in her train of thoughts. Still, she put on a warm smile and noded.
"Pleasure to meet you. I'm Shay Steiner," She spoke in a soft, yet loud enough tone for her to hear and hopefully find comfort in. She smiled a bit and rose her glass of water to her lips for a drink.
"Did you see who's in the lead for the cup?" She asked as she sat the glass down. It was her first time here and she found delight that her house had more points than the others. For a Ravenclaw, she found herself really competitive. But one trait that really stood out to her was that she'll win at all costs and that was a trait of a Ravenclaw. She had been doubting her house was actually for her ever since she was put there... however, she did really like the people around her -- no matter how stand offish she came off as.

Irene's eyes followed Shay's movements, as she picked up the glass for a sip of water and sat it down. 'Yeah I did,' she replied, putting on a soft smile, 'To be completely honest, I have never considered once that I would be put in Ravenclaw. I was really surprised.' A fork in hand, she poked the meat on her plate as she looked around. I wonder if we'd make good friends.. She was always so self-conscious and never once had she felt truly confident about herself. Especially if it was about friends, seeing as none of her 'tiny' group of friends kept in touch with her, she was always sensitive - it could be said that other people's opinions mattered a lot to her.
Irene decided that she really wanted to befriend Shay, and so she started talking about one activity that has been intriguing to her since she had heard about Hogwarts. 'So... what do you think about Quidditch?' her lips curved up a bit at talking about one of her interests. She had wanted to try-out for the Ravenclaw Quidditch team, but of course, she had never felt confident enough. As someone who had never played quidditch before - because her parents encouraged her to study instead of playing like the other children do - she had spent her time inside her room reading books about the infamous sport. She remembered all of the rules and the roles, yet she never knew if she could do well in the subject.

The Ravenclaw Table 2018-2019
Brea slid off the stool as soon as the Sorting Hat was pulled from her head. Her heart thundered as she numbly started towards the Ravenclaw table. Ravenclaw. She'd believed that she would be in Gryffindor, like her brothers. Like her father! But no, the Sorting Hat placed her in Ravenclaw.
Nerves flashed through her. What if she wasn't good enough? Wasn't smart enough? She struggled with her studies back at home; how could she live up to the standards Ravenclaw had? Everyone in the house was practically a genius. Brea was just...Brea.
She was vaguely aware that she was nearing the table. Out of habit, she brushed a curl over her green eye. She didn't want anyone's first impression of her to be that she was a freak.
Plastering on a fake smile, she began to fill her plate with food, listening to the others chatter. They'd fallen into step quickly. They seemed to know what they were doing, and that they knew each other. Well, somewhat. It was more like they were getting to know each other. She wasn't sure if she should talk; she was worried about interrupting someone else's conversation. Instead, she merely observed, nibbling on a roll she'd grabbed.

The Ravenclaw Table 2018-2019
A very happy smile spread across Amber’s face as she jumped off the stool and half-ran towards the Ravenclaw table to join her new housemates.Brea Ni'Rhann wrote: Brea slid off the stool as soon as the Sorting Hat was pulled from her head. She wasn't sure if she should talk; she was worried about interrupting someone else's conversation. Instead, she merely observed, nibbling on a roll she'd grabbed.
The young witch was trembling with excitement as she seated herself next to another ‘new’ Ravenclaw girl.
She sat up straight and put on a soft smile as she reached for some potatoes with meat which lay on a plate in the middle of the table. All over the four long housetables were hundreds of plates with LOTS and LOTS of very delicious looking food, from soups over to various main courses and sweet desserts.
All of this made Amber’s mouth water and her stomach grumbled hungrily.
After she had put bits of all different kinds of foods on her plate, she let her gaze wander over the other students.
Some of them were talking and laughing in small groups, while others were reading a book or were just staring shyly at their plates.
Amber wondered who she should talk to first. Since she knew nobody, maybe she should start a conversation with someone who didn’t know someone else, either? So they could kind of help each other?
Still lost in thoughts, she glanced at the first-years opposite her. They were already talking and giggling with each other, so Amber decided not to interrupt them.
Her gaze drifted over to the girl next to her and she tilted her head while examining her. She looked very nice, although it appeared a bit odd to Amber that the girl had one of her eyes covered by her brown hair. But - maybe it just fell onto her face like that and she hadn’t bothered to tuck it behind her ear just yet.
Putting her thoughts aside, Amber put on a friendly smile instead and grinned at the girl adjacent to her.
“Hello, I’m Amber Wood”, she said and politely held out her hand to greet her.

"Pleased to meet you! I'm Brea Ni'Rhann," she beamed, relief washing over her. "Isn't this exciting? We're finally at Hogwarts!" She bounced in her seat. Whatever fear she'd felt was suddenly melting away. "I can't wait for our classes. I've been looking forward to Defense Against the Dark Arts for ages! And Quidditch! I'm definitely going to try out for it next year. I'd like to play Beater...though Chaser wouldn't be half bad."
She trailed off, suddenly realizing that she was rambling. Her hand flew to the lock over her eye in embarrassment. "Sorry. What about you? Anything you're looking forward to?"

The young witch was smiling from ear to ear as she said: “This is SO AMAZING, right? I have been looking forward to this for AGES! ... Well, actually, I’ve only found out about the wizarding world a few months ago, but still...”
Chuckling slightly, she casually tucked some hair strands behind her ear.
“I’m muggle-born, I hope you don’t mind...”, she added quickly, although quietly.
But only a few moments later, she was back to her excited self again and her forest green eyes lit up as she continued talking.
“Me too, I cannot wait for our first classes! To be honest, I’m more keen for Charms and Transfiguration but I’m sure Defence Against the Dark Arts will be fun, too!” She widened her mouth to a grin.
“Oh, and as for Quidditch, I am so excited! I really want to get one of the spots on the house team as a Chaser. You know, I used to play Basketball and Handball before this so I guess the position as a Chaser would suit me best.” Her eyes lit up again in excitement.
“Oh... I’m sorry, I don’t even know whether you know those Muggle sports...” Sheepishly, she played with one of her caramel brown hair strands.
Suddenly, her eyes widened once again with amazement as she asked randomly: “Have you ever flown on a broom? I mean, quite weird of me to want to tryout for the Quidditch team when I have never even been on a broom before, but I suspect it to be somewhat learnable in a few days. Do you know if it’s easy? What does it feel like to fly? ... Sorry again, I didn’t want to come across as too bothersome....”

The Ravenclaw Table 2018-2019
Robin grinned as she sat at the table. Ravenclaw. Finally a place where she belonged. A place where her annoying sister wouldn't bother her, and a place she could get to quickly know how her father felt. She felt closer to him already. Robin tucked a strand of red hair behind her ear and touched the scar on her cheek, almost unconsciously. She looked around and continued to watch the other students being sorted. As she filled her plate with the glorious food, she began to think of her parents - of home. When her sister left for Hogwarts she was very happy to have her home to herself and her parents. She didn't know of Hogwarts at first, though. Not until her letter came in. Then her mother explained everything, and described the houses there were. Robin smiled at the memory, thinking about how much she missed her mother. As soon as the meal was over she was definitely going to be sending a letter to her mother and father. Despite not wanting to, she wandered how Elaine felt about her being a Ravenclaw. She quietly thanked the universe for not putting her in Slytherin. She could be away from her sister for as long as she wanted.

"Muggle-born? Pssh, don't worry about that! My mum's a Muggle!" Brea exclaimed. Her visible eye widened. "I could teach you the ropes, help you get used to things, if you like! She paused, studying the table as she tried to find an accurate description for flying.
"It's a bit like...oh, how do you put it? The feeling when you're at the very top of a Ferris Wheel. You're so high up that your stomach feels light, and you're scared and thrilled, all at the same time. And you can go at your own speed. The world waits for you, instead of the other way around. You're in control of something, if that makes sense," Brea nodded after a while. She let out a little squeal. "Ooooh, I can't wait for you to get on a broom for the first time!"
She bounced in her seat, the curl pulling away at last. She didn't think to swat it back into place; she was far too excited in the idea of helping Amber.
"This'll be so fun!!!"

Amber gave out an excited shriek and almost fell off her stool because of her enthusiasm.
Then Amber saw it - Brea’s eye... What she had been hiding behind a strand of her curly hair ever since they had started talking.
Amber gasped.
Of course, one doesn’t come across many people with two different eye colours very often, so the surprised look on her face was hard to oversee.
Trying not to give the wrong impression, she quickly closed her gaping mouth and said: “I LOVE your eyes! They are so, so beautiful and unique!”

The Ravenclaw Table 2018-2019
May sat quietly at the end of the Ravenclaw table. She stared at her feet. Her feet seems to be the only thing normal in the entire so-called school she was at. She just couldn't grasp at a logical explanation. she squeezed her eyes shut. There were to many things happening. To many people talking. To many thoughts. To many unanswered questions. To much magic.
May's eyes started to get watery. She wiped them with her sleeve. Her clothes weren't normal either. However, everybody's outfit was nearly the same. That was the one thing she liked about this place.
Oh, and the houses. What was this, a sick personality test? She glanced at the people around her.
I have to share a room with these girls? What if I don't like them? What if they don't like me? Will it be this loud in the dormitories? Will she ever escape the blasted sound of people's voices? She knew it was stupid to be worrying about these things.
They probably already hate me. Who would want to be friends with the girl who starts crying as soon as she is sorted?, her mind fought back. She stared at her feet again. Analyzing each button, the shape, and the height of the nearly flat heel. She covered her ears, and beginning to slowly breathe in and out.
Inhale
Exhale.
That's what her mother would say That's what she would say if she hadn't sent May off to this stupid school, just so she could leave her, just like her dad had. May started to cry again. She covered her face with her cloak, trying to muffle the sound.
Just breathe.
