The Ravenclaw Table 2018-2019

SEPT. 1st 2018 - JUN. 31st 2019
"Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind."
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind."
The table you sit at now is a table that has sat through many centuries, it's wood is as old as the castle it sits inside. Brilliant witches and wizards sat in the very same seat you have and it's no surprise if you were to follow suit. You've been sorted into a noble house, one that has ushered forth pioneers, scholars, and new age thinkers of the wizarding world.
Creative, clever, sharp, and wise minds sit among you - the future is bright and so is yours. The students at this table fly the bronze and blue crest and an eagle that has always symbolized the truthful principles of Rowena Ravenclaw. We are excited to have you here, whoever you might be and whoever you may be, it begins here - amongst your own. Whether you are new or old, eat well, talk with one another, and may you always find a friend on this table.
This is an RPG topic where all students are welcome to post.
All RPG rules apply. Word count per post is 200 words, not including quotes, OOC chat or other people's words.

Kevin was kind of shy so being in such a busy Great Hall was kind of discomforting. The thing was, he had no clue what he wanted his first impression to be to fellow wizards. Although he grew up in a magical community, his mum rarely left him leave the farm to meet other kids his age which is why he is so introverted. The first thing that he did when he got to the Ravenclaw table is sat in the seat in which either seat on each side of him was empty but still mustered the courage to introduce himself to the student in front of him. "Hello..I am Kevin , Kevin Grandsmith. And who might you be?"
He then begins to sip his from his cup and bring out his sketchpad and the well known book "Fantastic Beasts and where to Find Them" as he starts to sketch the vision that he gets from Scamander's words. The creatures that he drew, he wishes to meet and possibly tame. Looking around at the other Ravenclaw he sees a group of intelligent and fun individuals that seem to be interacting as if they knew each other all their lives. He hopes that he is accepted by his peers one day.

"Hello. Ma name's Fergus Breac. Glad to meet yeh," Fergus said, in his strong Scottish accent. He was thrilled to be at Hogwarts. Especially in Ravenclaw. It was his mother's house, and he respected her above anyone else.Kevin Grandsmith wrote: 3 Jul 2018, 02:19 Kevin was kind of shy so being in such a busy Great Hall was kind of discomforting. Leith, his mum, was calm and collected, even with a house of four rowdy children and an equally, if not more, rowdy husband. She ran their household with an iron fist, and she homeschooled her children until Hogwarts.
Maclaine, his father, was different. He was big and bold, but loads of fun to be around. He taught the children to hunt and about nature. They loved his teaching.
Fergus was nervous about Hogwarts, though. It was one of the few times he had been away from his family for a long period of time. He just hoped he'd meet good friends to help him through it. He was going to try and stay away from dating for his first year, but, if he met the right boy person, maybe he'd make an exception.
The food here was delicious. Even better than his mother's cooking. He couldn't wait for dessert, though, so he could judge it against Aberdine's baking. Aberdine loved baking and cooking and hoped to be a pastry chef one day.
Blane and Blaire, the seven-year-old twins, were a different story. They were bright, and hyper, and didn't care that they would have to grow up one day. If it wasn't today, then it didn't matter. They loved their lessons and their free time, and never expected to have to change their routine.
But they would, when Hogwarts scooped them up.
Fergus had always wanted to be a writer for The Daily Prophet. The dream had started when he was younger, and now that he was finally at Hogwarts, he hoped to begin his career as a writer. Starting with the House Newspaper. He couldn't wait to apply to be a writer.
But for now, dinner.

"Hello Fergus, that happens to be my grand dads name! He and my mum are Scottish and my father Sheadan is Irish so I grew up in Ireland. I do not have any siblings but I consider some of the farm animals and my dads close studies that he left behind to be close enough. The best one , whom I would consider to be my best friend, is the Hippogriff named Starclaw. He and I kind of grew up together. When my dad and I were in the yard one day he introduced me to Starclaw and showed me how to speak to him and how my mannerisms should be. These creatures are extremely wise and often picky with their handler choice but we had an instant bond and both mourned together at my fathers passing. This brought us closer together and training him was what sparked my inspiration to follow my father in his footsteps as well as my mother who was a healer. I not only want to train magical creatures but to heal them as well when ill or injured.
Enough about me, how about you? Do you have any hobbies? Are you pure-blood as well? What kind of activities do you like to do when you are outside of Hogwarts?

The Ravenclaw Table 2018-2019
For the first time since the Sorting Hat ceremony, Lora was finally returning to the Great Hall. It looked different from the grandeur that was put in place for the ceremony. It was still grand - she entered the room with a look of awe on her bright face - but it was a little more toned down. It looked much more lived in with a few students milling about before the next meal time. Some were studying, others were doing homework, and there were oh so many groups that were deep in conversations. Laughs echoed off the walls.
Lora had a book tucked under her arm. It was one of her favorite fairy tales, one that brought her comfort. Her aunt had placed a folded note inside of it before Lora had been off to get on the train for school. The note now served as a bookmark that she could pull out whenever she needed a boost of confidence or a taste of home. It also had the address marked on it so she could send owls home.
Since it wasn't yet meal time, and Lora wasn't comfortable enough to go up to a random group of Ravenclaws to see if she could join, the young brunette seated herself in a corner where it was empty. Only a few other Ravenclaws a few seats down. She recognized a few First years from the Sorting ceremony. Some looked as nervous as she felt while others seemed to have already found where they belonged.
Lora wouldn't deny it - Hogwarts did feel like home to her, but she was still getting used to the change in surroundings. She pulled out the book and sat it in front of her, turning through the very well-worn pages while she waited for the meal to start.

The Ravenclaw Table 2018-2019
This was the first time Mary decided to come to the Great Hall since the sorting ceremony. She wasn't quite comfortable with any of the Ravenclaws yet, which to Mary, was the biggest disappointment of all.Seeing as she was an outcast most of her life she finally hoped that she'd find comfort in Hogwarts, alas that was un true. So, she took quiet steps toward Ravenclaw table and took in the sight of the Great Hall. She was of course a little over-whelmed by the great hall, with it seeming larger than it was at the ceremony due to the absence of other pupils. Mary sat at the long wooden table towards the end,as to not intrude any other students conversations. She briskly took out a book and stared at the words on the paper, willing her to read them. Though instead her mind wandered. Her mother and father would be so very dissapointed to learn she wasn't a Slytherin, that she let down the tradition of the pure-blooded family. She only dreamed that they accepted her for being sorted into Ravenclaw but she knew nonetheless she would not be welcomed home that summer. Mary tried not to let her thoughts get the best of her and silently listend to the chatter of the other Ravenclaws, hoping to be approached and get her spirits lifted.

Lora finally took a moment to look up from her favorite book. A few more students had wandered in to the Great Hall, some new and some returning students. It seemed that some were just like her: quiet, shy, not yet used to this new place and this new House. Lora knew that for her benefit, she would need to make some friends. It would happen sooner or later, and sooner was always better than later. At least, that's what her uncle used to tell her.
Looking down the table a bit, she saw a young girl that seemed to be in a similar position as her. Away from other people, sitting by herself, nose in a book. She knew all too well what that was like. She had been in that same situation for a little bit right now anyway. So, she drew up the courage to pick up her back and make her way down the table a little bit to go sit across from the other girl.
This was always the hardest part for Lora. Since she hadn't grown up around many children her age, she hadn't really developed the social skills that some people had. She knew how to communicate, but she never knew if what she was going to say was the best thing to say given the situation.
"Um, hi," Lora started quietly. She gave a small smile to the girl across from her. "I'm Lora. Lora Martindale. Is it alright if I join you? I saw that you were reading." Lora pointed to her own book, the pages well worn and the cover faded from all the years that she had read it.
Sincerely, Lora Martindale

In response to Lora Martindale
Mary had been sitting at the long wooden table for some time, listening to the chatter willing herself to read her book. She had of course loved being sorted into Ravenclaw and saw how similar to the other Ravenclaws she seemed to be but, she had still not had the chance to become friends with anyone in her house. Just as she thought it might be time for her to go, Mary heard someone settle into the seat across from her. Mary rose her head from her book and saw a brunette girl that she had noticed when she entered the Great Hall.
"Um,hi
Mary was a little startled that this girl had decided to talk to her, seeing as she wasn't the most approachable . Mary had never really had a friend before and wasn't quite sure if she was to respond. With Mary's silence the girl continued to speak.
I'm Lora. Lora Martindale. Is it alright if I join you? I saw that you were reading."
The girl, who Mary now knew as Lora, gave a small but warm smile. Mary felt incredibly shy but knew that now was the time to make a new friend so, she spoke in a small voice "Hello Lora. I'm Mary , Mary Brown. Take a seat" Offering a friendly smile to Lora, Mary took notice of the worn book in the girls hand. "What are you reading?"

The Ravenclaw Table 2018-2019
Her hazel eyes skimmed the large room for the first night she was there. Finding the houses were cliqued together, she made her way over to where she saw blue was prominent and sat down. She was surrounded by unfamiliar faces. Laughter filled the air and conversations went without stop on either sides of her. For the first time in her life, she felt secluded. She had never been around this many people. If people from her old life would see her now, they would be shocked about how Shay was slouching and avoiding eye contact. She was a strong person that didn't need anyone's help so why was she acting like this?
Pull yourself together and sit up straight. She scolded herself and straightened up her back. She put food on her plate and began to eat. Her eyes still looked down and she avoided any contact with anyone. Though... it would be nice to make a friend. She shook her head and looked up from her plate to look around. She couldn't tell if her heart was racing from fear or excitement. Fear of failing her family or excitement for starting new relationships and pursuing her new identity as a wizard... or did she saw witch? What's the difference between the two anyways? Her mind began to wonder and she stared blankly as she thought about the most trivial things.

The Ravenclaw Table 2018-2019
Irene spaced out while having her food in the great hall, her hand holding the spoon of food she had left untouched until it had the cuts of meat had turned slightly cold. Unknowingly, she was staring at the girl across from her. Everyone has already made friends, I'd feel terribly rude if I were to just jump in between them. But I also need a friend! I don't want to end up isolated again.. She felt petrified as those thoughts popped into her mind. Snapping back to reality and noticing her actions that may have made the girl uncomfortable, she looked away at her food. She brought up the cold stainless spoon and consumed the soup, and fortunately, it had remained adequately warm. Soon enough, she found her eyes looking towards the same girl.Shay Steiner wrote: 11 Jul 2018, 01:38 Her hazel eyes skimmed the large room for the first night she was there. After heaving in a deep breathe as she gripped tightly on the hem of her cloak, she decided to engage into a conversation with her - seeing that everyone else had already made themselves comfortable and were deep into conversations with each other. 'Hello, I'm Irene. Irene Jennings,' she reached her hand out for a shake, but noticing the distance and the width of the table, she brought it back almost immediately and smiled sheepishly. She looked down at her clenched fists that sat on her lap before looking up to face the girl again for a response.
