Rhys had grown fond of the library. It'd become a sanctuary of sorts. Being here, among the books and quiet, they were calm. Honestly, they were surprised they weren't a Ravenclaw, because they'd formed a habit of being in the library whenever they had a free moment. If Rhys wasn't in the courtyard, or at the great lake, they could be counted on to be found at the library.

Not that they’d particularly want to be found, that is. Rhys went to the library to be alone after a long day of being surrounded by so many other students. Rhys had social anxiety on their best days, so being around so many people all the time exhausted them. Their mum told them it would get better, that they would get used to it, but Rhys wasn’t sure they wanted that to happen either. They liked their peace and quiet.

When they were at the library, Rhys could more or less count on to be left alone to have that peace and quiet. Save for one other time when an older Slytherin boy had helped them with a particular situation with their parents, Rhys hadn't ever had a problem with people confronting them in the library. In class, sure. Corridors, yeah. But not usually the library.

Rhys quietly walked to their usual table and pulled out their Charms homework, humming a song that was stuck in their head. They noticed that they could be drawing unwanted attention (and generally being annoying) by doing this, so they stopped. They looked around to make sure that they'd gone unnoticed and hadn't disrupted anyone before pulling out a fresh piece of parchment and beginning to write quietly.

Honour was a kind, bubbly caring girl. She was autistic which gave her little personality quirks, however she never let that get to her. She was a Hufflepuff who everyone knew and liked as she was actually quite intelligent and was always willing to give a hand with homework or give you a shoulder to cry on. She was the first to share sweets or the first to make a joke in any situation. She had long brown hair and big brown eyes that glittered.

On this particular day she was selecting a book, when she heard humming. She recognised the song as one from the Weird Sisters and started to sing along. Her voice was pure and sweet. Once she found the book she wanted she decided to find the mysterious singer.
She wandered the library for a while shooting love birds that evaporated after fifteen seconds from her wand. She eventually mustered the courage to talk to the mystery boy and sat at his table.... She sat at his table in silence for a while reading over his shoulder as he went, until...
"You spelt Incendio incorrectly. You should let me help you! " She said with a kind smile.

Rhys hadn’t said anything when the girl sat at their table, even though they wanted to almost immediately. For one, she just sat next to them without a word, and then proceeded to do so whilst peeking over their shoulder. This broke Rhys’s concentration, and as they tried to remain calm and unbothered, their quill slipped and what had meant to be written as Incendio came out as Indencio. And that, of course, was when the girl decided to speak up, pointing out their mistake and saying that they should let her help.

Scowling, Rhys crossed out the misspelled word and corrected it before glancing over at the girl who was leaning over their shoulder. They took a moment to take in her robes. Hufflepuff. Oh, joy. The friendliest of the houses, also the least likely to be deterred from helping someone.

“Er, thanks,” Rhys started, scooting their chair over and covering their parchment with their arm. “But I’ve got it covered. Maybe— Maybe there could be someone else in need of helping, though?” They suggested, trying not to sound obviously like they wanted the girl to leave. But… well, they didn't exactly relish the fact that she was right there, in Rhys’s personal space and pointing out a mistake they’d only made because they didn’t do well when they knew they were being watched. They weren’t the best under pressure.

Honour smiles and flips back her hair.
"I know you don't like people but quite frankly you are a loner and need all of my help. Oh and by the way before you even try to push me away I'm incredibly stubborn,"
She said. She pulls your parchment towards her and grimaces at your mistakes. " I'm Honour by the way," She said with a smile.

She waits for you to say something and when you don't she starts to correct your paper. "Do you pay any attention at all?" She asks with a small but kind giggle. She hums as she works, stopping every few minutes to crack her knuckles.

After a while she passes it back to you noticing your Gryffindor robes she tips her head to the side slightly. "Are you not more suited in Slytherin?" She asks. She waits for a response and when she doesn't get one she says. "Oh I am so very sorry, have I overstepped the mark?" She asks. She starts to tear up at the thought of upsetting someone. She waits for a few minutes, the silence killing her slowly. "Please say something, please," She begs as the tears start too fall.

"I know you don't like people but quite frankly you are a loner and need all of my help. Oh and by the way before you even try to push me away I'm incredibly stubborn," The girl spoke in response, and Rhys narrowed their eyes. She knew they didn't like people? She'd just met them. She didn't know anything about them. Who even was this girl?

Before Rhys could respond, though, the girl was pulling their parchment out from under their arm and-- much to their dismay-- actually answered their question of who she was. Honour? Sounded preppy and... affluent. Definitely the type to ambush you in the library and insist on 'helping' you correct your mistakes. Won't give her the pleasure of giving my name, Rhys thought as they grit their teeth. They suppressed an eyeroll as she started to correct their paper.

"Do you pay any attention at all?" The girl asked, giving a light giggle, and Rhys knew that she meant well, and just wanted to help, and all that mumbo jumbo, but this really rubbed them the wrong way. They were a straight-O student! All their life they'd excelled at their schooling, since if they didn't, then their father would constantly berate them and never leave them alone about it! The absolute nerve of this girl.

"Are you not more suited in Slytherin?" Hah. Yeah, they were more suited in Slytherin. This girl was right on the money, hitting all the bases, and getting on every single nerve. If this was the lottery, she'd be winning big right now.

Rhys's lack of a response -- or lack of ability to formulate one -- caused the girl to finally register that she may have been coming on too strong. "Oh I am so very sorry, have I overstepped the mark?" She asked, her brown eyes filling with tears. Rhys wasn't sure what to say, without coming off as rude and blunt (aka their natural instinct). They didn't want to upset the girl further, and this whole situation was making them highly uncomfortable. Frankly, they were itching to leave. If they could just escape this situation, go back to their room, and maybe shoot off an owl to their 'mentor', they could make sense of this situation. If-- "Please say something, please," Honour's voice interrupted their train of thought, bringing Rhys out of their slight dissociation. Tears had begun to fall down her cheeks, and Rhys knew there was no way they could leave now.

"Um.." They said, brilliantly. Definitely showing that they were an O-average student. "Well, I just--" How could they avoid making this situation worse than it already was? "You might have--" Ugh, this was hard. Why did they care about sparing this girl's feelings? They shouldn't care. This was ridiculous. Rhys closed their eyes, sighing before nodding, opening their eyes, and giving this 'Honour' a tight-lipped smile. "Yeah. You've overstepped the-- well, a few lines, if I'm being honest. The things you've been doing.. and saying.. aren't exactly.. polite. I'm not trying to be brash, or rude, but, quite frankly, I don't entirely need your help."
