Shiny Shimmering Spider Trap PV

Elsian loved Kitty, he really did! But it was times like this he truly wondered if it was too late to find some poor sucker to commit to pet sitting her when he really had to get things done. Because if the spindly little legs slowly peeking from behind the couch cushions was anything to go by, she’d somehow gone and freed herself from her tank…again. How do you keep doing this?” He wondered, tone caught somewhere between true curiosity and a grim acceptance. There was no answer of course, just the spider claiming the sparkly blue yarn he’d currently been in the process of using as her new perch. Because why wouldn’t she?

He sighed, clutching at his hair and looking at the mess of yarns and half finished sweaters wondering how he ever thought this was a good idea. Kitty crawled atop a pile, using it to jump onto his lap and as if proving his previous thought, sent 2 bundles of yarn tumbling down to the floor in an unraveling mess.

Danm.

This was not going to work, he already knew. Maybe-

He thought about all the decorations spread around the school, the great hall in particular. Big with plenty of room, and filled with decorations that Kitty went crazy over and could keep her attention for hours on a good day. “Maybe…maybe a change of scenery would be good,” he said tiredly.

Kitty was having the time of her little spider life. Crawling up and down the decorated walls on the way to the great hall, grabbing onto the colorful tinsel hung up and most importantly giving Elsian a break.

Said boy currently resting head down, with his face buried into his arms while surrounded by his finished work and tangled yarn projects and getting a well-deserved break while Kitty quietly ran amok in the background to his tired, frayed, nerves. Elsian had gotten through about an hour or so of work before crashing after telling himself this would be fine. Look at him now. Dead to the world like an overworked parent to a hyperactive toddler, if toddlers could crawl on walls.

Kitty on the other hand, bless her pretty spider head, had no such worries nor responsibilities to worry or ponder over, and was instead choosing to soak up the joys of no supervision from her tired owner. Presently, in fact, enjoying the very shiny, very decorated Christmas tree he’d been good at keeping her away from until now in all its shiny, shimmering glory. Kitty would lunge for the star at the top, disappearing into the depths of the tree, crawling over shiny breakable bobbles, ruining perfectly placed tinsel, and hiding in the shadows of the decorations with nothing to show her presence save for the odd shake of the branches when she jumped and moved things, or the fallen decorations littering the floor here and there from where they’d been misplaced by her mischief.

For the most part she would be content there. Content until the shiny red Christmas ball she’d been hanging from and continuously messing with finally fell from the branch, tumbling down, bouncing off the branches and rolling along the ground until it bumped into someone's shoes.
