General The Slytherin Table 2018-2019

Dianna sat soundlessly at the table still into her book. Interacting with others at the table crossed her mind as soon as she opened her book. She knew that she would have to talk to someone someday but she just couldn't find it in her to go up to someone.

"OH....." as she said exclaimed softly. "UM....Not how I expected it to end..." She frowned at the book and shut it closed. She have always been seen with a book of any kind. Read all Genre, she loved a good book for all were a mystery until the end. Resting we head on the table she sighed. Why didn't she bring another book? Even she doesn't know.

This school should help her prove her father wrong and make her mother happy. Ah her mother. She wondered what she was doing now. Probably fussing at the weeds that dared messed with her wonderful lillies. Chuckling to herself she started thinking about more memories of her mom. Half of her was sad that she had left her behind but the other half was happy that she was able to make it this far.

She finally understood why her mom pushed her so hard to came to this school. Many of the famous witches have attended this school and one day she might be one of them.

Ginger looked across the great hall until her eyes rested on the Slytherin table.
"OK, you got this Ginger, just go and sit", She muttered to herself. If you were to ask Ginger a week ago what house she would most likely be in she would say Either Gryffindor or Ravenclaw, like the rest of her family. She would never have guess Slytherin. What if the sorting hat chose wrong, what if she didn't belong here. Would anyone notice, that she was different?
"The sorting hat is never wrong", she reminded herself. "You're a Slytherin, your cunning and Ambitious, plus who cares what the others think, I'm just as Slytherin as them".
Ginger sat down at the table and watched as food appeared on her plate. A bowl of porridge, along with pumpkin juice. Ginger took a spoon and started to spin it in the porridge.
"Let's see what Slytherin has so offer", She muttered to her self-looking around.
A wizard and a witch arguing, ouch one of them just used the word mudblood. If Ginger were to say that her mother would wash her mouth with soap. What else. A Witch reading and gasping at a book. A first year roaming around. Maybe she should approach him, or maybe she should just go back to observing.

Nova smiled as the hat was lifted off her head and saw a long row of silver-and-green tied robes cheering for her as her name was called to Slytherin. She looked at all the faces, wondering if any were even related to her, or would know how she could find out more about her surprisingly well-known family. "It doesn't matter about your blood, only what goes on in your heart," her father always said whenever she asked. And she knew, she knew that it doesn't truly matter who her family was or is, because she has wonderful parents who love her and is now attending a wonderful school. Still, she's curious.

Nova sat down next to a girl about her age, one that she recalled getting called to Slytherin earlier. She seemed to be looking around the table, but for what, Nova did not know.

"HI." Nova said, wondering if she said it too loudly. "I'm Nova," she awkwardly smiled. I've never met another witch or wizard my own age before. Only adults. This shouldn't be different than making friends at home. Like my muggle friends. Why does it feel different than just becoming friends with another Muggle though? Nova thought.

Ginger looked up at the girl she was wearing the Slytherin uniform and had pretty brown hair along with dark eyes.
'Another Slytherin', is the first thing that Ginger thought, then she mentally kicked herself, 'of course it was another Slytherin, you're at the Slytherin table Ginger',
Ginger went back to the girl, Nova, that was a pretty name. Ginger thought. What if she was a Pureblood like her, there hadn't been many purebloods recently so it would be nice to have like her. But it would also be awesome if she was a Muggle-born, Ginger loved all things muggle, so it would be great to know a witch who could teach her on the things that she didn't understand.
'You're getting ahead of yourself, you don't even know whether or not she'll want to be your friend, she's just being nice, You're both new after all'. Ginger thought. Still, so far she hadn't met anyone who showed any sign of liking her so that was good.
Ginger took her spoon out of the porridge, took a bite and then looked back at the girl.
"Hey, I'm GInger, I guess were Slythering buddies now", Ginger smiled giving her hand out for the girl, Nova, to shake.

Nova looked at girl's extended hand curiously, then smiled and shook her hand.

"Wonderful to meet you Ginger," Nova said with a toothy smile. How can I ask her who her family is without sounding like a stalker or interrogator? Nova observed the girl, wondering if she could determine based on looks if she was pureblood or not, and if she was pureblood, if she knew what family her father belonged to. What if we are related?! What if she's like, my long lost cousin. I mean, my father is a pureblood, and aren't there only a few true pureblooded families left? Wouldn't they all be related to each other in some way? Wait, don't get ahead of yourself Nova... calm down. Nova took a deep breath to slow down the thousands of thoughts running races through her brain.

Nova flipped her long hair behind her back and turned to look at the food in front of them. She felt a pang of homesickness looking at the food, realizing this would be the first meal that she wouldn't be enjoying it with her parents. But Nova quickly shook off the homesickness, feeling immature for even thinking of missing her mom.

"So, like, where're you from?" Nova said, taking a bite out of a piece of fresh bread in front of her. Ugh, you hate small talk so much. Nova rolled her eyes at herself for even asking such a basic question.

Ginger watched Nova as she chewed her bread. She seemed nice and was offering a bit of small talk, this was Ginger's chance, snag a friend before its too late.
'Snag a friend, geez you sound like a crazed lonely kidnapper', Ginger thought to herself. This wasn't rocket magic. After all, all Ginger had to do was answer the question without stuttering or seeming like a complete fool.
'You are a fool, just answer the question. You're worrying too much', she told her self.
"I live near Manchester, so I guess you could call me a city girl, though I never really had any muggle friends. I don't think I could ever fit in as a real muggle anyway. Freaked out when my brother showed me the mobile phone", Ginger then shut up when she realized that she was rambling.
"How about you", Ginger asked Nova, before Ginger could say or so anything stupid, or start rambling again, she took a large spoonful of porridge and started to eat. Hopefully, this would stop her dumb mouth from rambling again. What if she already made a bad first impression, what if the Nova hated her.
Ginger then shook her head and swallowed, she was getting nervous and letting her thoughts run wild, Nova just met Ginger, she couldn't hate her already. Right?

Nova gave a big smile. She loved when people rambled... considering she was prone to rambling all the time.

"That's cool, I've been to Manchester once or twice! With my mom, she's a muggle--a professor at a muggle university--and took me with her on her lecture rotations trip. And I could never fit in as a muggle either--even when I thought I was for the longest time. I just never seemed to perfectly fit in anywhere. Just enough to make friends, but never enough to feel like I belonged," Nova laughed. She hoped that sharing her insecurities with the girl would help her feel more comfortable; Nova talks out her more shallow insecurities frequently, in hopes that she'll get over them by just saying them enough.

"I'm from Cambridge! Cambridge is a muggle university, where my mom teaches. She teaches mathematics, or I guess it's called Arithmancy here. My dad's a wizard though, but he tried to leave the Wizarding World behind, it's a whole thing. Anyways, he was kind of forced to come back when I started to show signs of magic. But even with him, I still don't know too much about the Wizarding World. So I don't feel like I fit in this world yet either," Nova rambled, her heart twinging a little at the mention of her dad. I didn't mean to show signs of magic or drag him back into a world he left, Nova thought sadly. He knows that, he knows that, it's not my fault, I know that too, Nova tried to persuade herself, taking another bite of bread and giving a big fake smile to the other girl.

Ginger looked at the smiling girl in front of her and smiled too.
"Good job ginger you didn't scare her away", Ginger thought to helfself, taking a sip of pumpkin juice.
"You're mother must be smart enough for Ravenclaw", Ginger said. Ok, that was something they had in common, smart mother. Ginger wondered what Nova's mother would look like, She would probably have the same pretty brown hair. Ginger liked long hair, but usually wore hers short, this was because all her bother had hair that at least went to their shoulders, and they were all blonde, While Ginger got her grandmother's hair. It's that she doesn't like it. It's just that she doesn't really fit in with boys. But that was what her mother was for, Her mother had long silk-like black hair, Ginger loved combing it. She shacked her head, 'go back to the conversation'.
"so, Why'd you dad leave the wizarding world?", Ginger asked Nova. As much as Ginger loved muggles, she hated the idea of leaving the wizarding world. It was her world, where she grew up, the only world she knows. What made Nova's father give up magic, Chocolate Frogs, and Quidditch, who would give up Quidditch or all things.

"You're mother must be smart enough for Ravenclaw," Ginger said.
Nova grinned, wondering what house her mother would've been in had she been a witch. She really could see her in all of the houses; her hard work to become who she is makes her a Hufflepuff, her courage to continue on without her family makes her a Gryffindor, her natural intellect and curiosity makes her a prime Ravenclaw candidate, and the ambitions she set for herself and her daughter give her a huge Slytherin edge. Do I even exhibit those qualities? Do I even exhibit Slytherin qualities? I wonder why the Sorting Hat placed me in Slytherin... Nova wondered.
"So, why'd your dad leave the Wizarding World?" Ginger asked Nova.
Nova looked down at her plate and twiddled her fingers. Whenever she gets a little nervous or uncomfortable, she starts to pinch her nails and then run her fingers over them.

"He actually fought in the Second Wizarding War, he's a lot older than my mom--like ten years or something. They didn't know each other then. But yeah, the war kind of took it out of him. His first wife and I guess my half-brother both died while fighting, and my brother was only 15. I mean, I call him my brother, but I obviously never met him, and I guess I wouldn't have been born had my dad not left the Wizarding World and found my mom," Nova stammered, nervously laughing.

Erin decided the only way she was going to come off as more than just an anti-social grease monkey was by actually interacting with the other students residing in Slytherin House. She made a point to slide into a spot at the Slytherin Table as soundlessly as possible, fixing herself a plate of turkey, coddle, and potatoes with a side of pumpkin juice. Her fork glinted softly beneath the candle-lights as she tentatively dug into the roasted bird. As she subconsciously worked her jaw and swallowed, she began to come up with as many greetings as she possibly could, her eyes glancing over at some of the nearest students. Was it always best to blurt out your whole name and shove your hand in someone's face hoping that they may grasp it in return? She shook away the thought. No, she would have to listen to the conversations around her (eavesdropping; a trait she was most skilled in) until she found the perfect pause to interject.

Cutting into her coddle make her daydream about home and the trifles her mother would always make after dinner had been devoured. Maybe she could con her older brother Demetrius into making her some trifle on his down time. She knew their mother had taught and walked him through the recipe on numerous occasions. Knowing Demetrius, he had every recipe his mother ever gave him saved on a permanent drive in his noggin. Erin let her fork clatter onto her empty plate softly and turned in her chair. She searched the Ravenclaw table to see if he was still seated in the same spot from a few minutes ago.

There were so many students here at Hogwarts. The raven-haired girl could have never fathomed that the school would be as large as it is. It would most likely take her until her 7th Year to navigate and venture through every one of Hogwarts stairwells and hallways. She sighed, abandoning her search for her pig-headed brother and scooping up a slice of pumpkin pie onto her plate. As she nibbled gingerly at her dessert, the newest Slytherin let her gaze roam across her own House table in curiosity.
