We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing. (George Bernard Shaw)

The work for the week was done, it was once again Saturday morning. With no playdate was in schedule, Sherlock Dols decided to have a little fun on his own, this time it would mean a quiet hour (or two) to sit and rest, doing whatever he cared to. This morning, what he wanted to was playing with Star Catcher.

Star Catcher was Sherlock's plastic doll. He actually had no idea about her as a franchise character; the only thing he was aware of was her name, which was printed in her box the day he asked Abuelita Bonnin to buy her as his sixth birthday gift. His parents were less than pleased with his choice, wanting him to choose something more "mature" and "manly" for a present, but his dotting maternal grandmother chided them, telling them that it was his special day. Today, Star Catcher's trips to Castelobruxo and Hogwarts with Sherlock remained a secret he kept from his parents.

For a moment, the young Belizean considered sitting by the Great Lake. But the memory of his encounter with Raul Correa, an encounter which ended with a trip to the Hospital Wing, signalled no to the preteen. "The grounds," he decided, in Latin American Spanish, at the end. "That would be a very nice spot. We'll be able to bathe in the sun, and there is no big mass of water."

Thus there he went, and there he sat, humming happily as he combed Star Catcher's beautiful mane and tail.

Having eyes, but not seeing beauty; having ears, but not hearing music; having minds, but not perceiving truth; having hearts that are never moved and therefore never set on fire - these are the things to fear.

Seren walked outside the walls of the school on a lovely mid October day, her long hair in a pale purple to deep red ombre braid down her back, tied off with a black ribbon. She was still deciding what her preferred hair color was going to be for the future, but she had deduced that she rather like ombres, and purple was a color that looked quite good on her pale skin.

She looked around for a long moment, deciding which way to walk, and then began to head across the grounds. She loved a good walk in this weather, just before the winter actually hit the Highlands, enjoying the brisk air and the changing colors. She knew it was going to be miserable soon, but for now? For now it was lovely. Sure, she needed a nice sweater, and thick wool stockings, but it was a fine way to keep cozy. She did not mind staying warm this way.

She turned around a stand of bushes and noticed a young man over in one corner, and she tilted her head to look, curiously. He was playing with something small, and very colorful... It looked like paintings of pegasi that she had seen in books, but the wings were very short looking and the colors were like nothing she had ever seen on one. She paused, nervously, watching the boy for a long moment... But finally, she walked over and shyly said "What are you playing with? I have never seen a toy like that before..."

Sherlock turned around when he heard a voice. Apparently, the voice belonged to a girl whom he assumed was around his age. He was slightly taken aback by her appearance; her hair colour was very attention-attracting. The Belizean boy was not sure whether she used the Muggle or the magical way or whether she was a Metamorphmagus (not that it was a very proper question to ask someone whose name he did not even know, either way), the only thing he was sure about upon seeing her hair was that there was no way he would dye his.

Usually, such appearance would scare the second year. However, this preteen's voice was soft, shy even, and Sherlock perceived this as a sign that she was not dangerous; she did not seem to be the type who would laugh at him or take Star Catcher away from him and threaten that she would do something to the doll (or would not return it to him) unless he did something for her.

She asked him what it was, and Sherlock realised that the girl must not have had much exposure to the Muggle world. He answered in a friendly tone, "It's my toy. Something I play with when I'm bored or sad. She keeps me happy." And then, "Would you like to touch her?"
