─────Lilliana was tired. And that was to put it mildly. If the girl didn't move for two seconds her eyelids would start to droop, her posture would sink, and then her eyes would flutter shut. She had tried nearly everything. Don't blink, your eyes won't open. Don't yawn, you’re encouraging sleep. Do not fall asleep standing again! She felt uneasy, worrying that she would collapse into the floor right then and there and sleep. Lilliana was at the end of her rope and a hearty yawn drove her to the courtyard.

It was considerably empty, which Lilliana found an advantage. If she fell asleep there wouldn't be too many witnesses. She felt a shiver crawl up her back, and goosebumps start to dot her skin. She was cold, like usual. But at least it distracted her from her sleepiness. She rubbed her hands against her arms and exhaled the cold, wintry air. She felt one eye close slowly, and the other beginning to surrender. Perhaps she should let herself sleep, give in. But then a voice snapped her out of her lull. "Who are you?"

The voice sounded vaguely familiar. Perhaps she had heard them in the halls earlier today? Her eyes begrudgingly opened to spot a girl with vivid red hair. They said it in a tone that suggested they might have seen each other before but where was a mystery. Lilliana was too tired to put her brain to work at the moment. “My name’s Lilliana.” She tried appearing a tad more… awake. “And you are..?” Lilliana asked, then paused. “Wait, have we met before, you look sort of familiar.”

I'm usually good at recognizing faces. I can remember person A's face from 5 years back if they have a noticeable feature, or even Person B's face from a couple of months back if they don't have an identifying feature of some kind. The girl near me was very pretty, with long blonde hair and blue eyes...she also seemed a little tired. When she stated her name, I said, "Hi Liliana, I'm Auro- wait a minute, I remember you! That's why you look so familiar to me, you were that girl that I met at the ice cream parlor!" I couldn't believe that it had taken me so long to recognize her. I had met Lilliana on the first day of school(we were kind of late to get our school stuff), and we had talked about our wands and favorite school subjects and things like that. "So, er...what house did you get? Are you enjoying your classes? Do you have a favorite right now, did your previous one change?" Alright, maybe I shouldn't have bombarded the poor girl with questions, but I got excited all the time. "Oh dear, you look really tired. Are you okay?" I asked once I had deflated and noticed that she looked a little haggard. It seemed that she hadn't gotten enough sleep. I was never truly tired because even though I always woke up early every morning, there was always coffee. Except when I forgot to get some. I suspected that was just what Lilliana needed, but first, I really needed to stop her from falling asleep while standing up.

─────Lilliana was still trying to put the pieces together, she was certain that she knew this girl. But from where? Lilliana desperately wanted to know the answer, because the question was eating up at her. It was on the tip of her tongue, the answer was there, just slightly out of her reach. They spoke, "Hi Liliana, I'm Auro- wait a minute, I remember you! That's why you look so familiar to me, you were that girl that I met at the ice cream parlor!"

Lilliana’s eyebrows shot up, and her eyes enlarged. She smiled in recognition. She remembered her now! The details from their first meeting popped up in Lilliana’s head, and suddenly, everything felt so clear. “Oh, right! I remember you now.” Lilliana said, energetically, which surprised the first year, because her voice did not match her head, which was attempting as hard as it could to stay awake. “We met on the day we were shopping for Hogwarts supplies.” Lilliana grinned, satisfied.

"So, er...what house did you get? Are you enjoying your classes? Do you have a favorite right now, did your previous one change?" Aurora asked the questions all at once, and quickly too, so Lilliana could barely even get a chance to comprehend what she was saying. Wait, what did she just say? Lilliana thought, and had to rewind the conversation a few seconds. House, classes, favorite. Lilliana summarized, taking a breath. It took her a few extra seconds to come up with answers to the questions.

“Well, I got Slytherin.” She said, “What about you? Which one did you get?” Lilliana might have tried to direct some of the questions Aurora’s way so they could talk for a bit and give Lilliana a few seconds to do nothing but listen. And perhaps close her eyes for just a second— Snap out of it. Her thoughts chided, and at the right time too, as Lilliana’s eyes were just beginning to close again, and pulled back into the lull of sleep. She forced her eyes open and wide, willing herself not to blink.

A few seconds later she remembered, Oh, right, second question. It took Lilliana even more time to answer a simple yes or no question, which made her annoyed at herself. “Yeah, I am!” Lilliana remembered to smile. “My favorite is still Potions, but I also like Defense Against The Dark Arts. But, I’m not the best at Flying.” Well, comparatively to her other classes, at least. While she wasn’t bad at it, Lilliana still felt terrified whenever she got on a broom. “But, anyways, how about you?” Lilliana cringed, realizing that she kept on repeating the same questions Aurora had been asking.

"Oh dear, you look really tired. Are you okay?" Well, she certainly hadn’t done the best job at hiding it. Lilliana tried to make herself look less… weary, but her attempt didn’t really do much. She was still in a slightly slumped position, and her eyelids were only partially open. Her hair was draped over her face, and it was way messier than it normally was. She looked like someone woke her up at two in the morning. And to top it all off, her face was deathly pale, too pale to be normal, so she dropped her attempt at hiding her tiredness.

Lilliana nodded, “Um, yeah, just didn’t have much sleep, that’s all.” Lilliana gave a weak attempt at shrugging it off. If didn’t have much sleep meant waking up five times on the middle of the night, then so be it. She had trouble sleeping since arriving at Hogwarts, and halfway through the year she still felt odd resting in the dungeons. “Was I really that obvious?” Lilliana asked playfully, smiling sheepishly. She blew out some air, as a desperate attempt to distract herself from the tiredness she was facing. It was definitely obvious.

In a split second, I had remembered the entire encounter on the first day at Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor. All the questions I had asked, even what I had eaten. A Waffle Dish Sundae, I think, but that was beyond the point. "Wow, it's so cool that I'm meeting you here again!" I said, on the verge of exploding with joy. "You said that you got Slytherin? That's awesome! Do you like it? I got Hufflepuff, and I think it's amazing," I said. I waited for a second for Lilliana to answer my 2nd question before she finally said, “My favorite is still Potions, but I also like Defense Against The Dark Arts. But, I’m not the best at Flying.” "That's great! I personally think that Defense Against the Dark Arts is a little intense, but the spells are really cool. I've taken a real liking to Charms lately, and Herbology!" I said to Lilliana, grinning. I was terribly ecstatic, and I wasn't entirely sure why I was all worked up like this, honestly. But, I guess I was just excited to see Lilliana again. "You were kinda obvious, actually. But it's alright! We all need some rest from time to time!" I said. There had been days when I felt that tired, and others where I had been 95% Chocoball. Since I had first come to Hogwarts, I hadn't really seen many people around from the first month. Maybe they were really busy and forgot to come out of their hidey-holes for about 5 months or so? Whatever it was, I hadn't really seen them around. But, even though I hadn't considered or expected it in the slightest, Lilliana was the person I most wanted to see today.

───── "Wow, it's so cool that I'm meeting you here again!" Aurora said. She sure had a lot more energy than Lilliana did at the moment. They looked pretty excited. Though Lilliana had to admit, it was kind of fun meeting Aurora again, it had been a while since they last spoke -- How many months had it been? Well, it was February now, wasn't it? Lilliana scrunched her forehead in thought, and gave up having to do the math. She did nod though, attempting to show as much enthusiasm as Ro had gave.

“It is!” Lilliana said with a grin, beginning to become more alert and present. “It's kind of hard to believe I'm meeting you here again!” Lilliana said, studying Aurora. She looked the same for the most part,with bright red hair, short stature, and all. She felt very -- well, she was ecstatic, that was sure though it still didn't change the fact that she was tired. Although... She could feel herself beginning to wake up a little, very slowly, her eyelids opened more, and the shape she was seeing of Aurora was getting slightly less vague and blurry.

"You said that you got Slytherin? That's awesome! Do you like it? I got Hufflepuff, and I think it's amazing," Aurora continued. She nodded along, though she was slightly flustered from how fast she was talking. So many words, Her mind chimed in, groggily. She spoke so animatedly, and Lilliana was too tired to follow along, she was having trouble finding the difference between the questions and the comments. She could feel herself trying to coax her eyes to shut, the urge became so hard to resist that Lilliana had to shake her arms a bit as an attempt to wake herself up.

Oh right. She was supposed to speak. “Oh me? I'm pretty excited! My dad was in Slytherin, though I wasn't quite sure what house I would get -- it was terrifying a bit, getting sorted in front of all those people, don't you think?” Lilliana said, beaming at herself for making it through a couple sentences with of sentences without falling asleep or yawning. “Hufflepuff? That’s pretty cool, what’s it like?” That was her new tactic now, asking questions so the other person would get to talk. “My house is pretty chaotic, actually, did you hear? A girl nearly stabbed another kid!” She shuddered slightly at the thought.

Aurora continued to talk about her favorite subjects, to which Lilliana responded, “Yeah it can be a tad intense, it's so cool what all the spells could do! It's pretty fascinating. Herbology’s pretty neat too! I love plants and all!” Lilliana said, smiling a little. She also answered her next question telling her that she looked pretty sleep deprived. “Yep, earlier last night I heard a couple of people talking about the Forbidden Forest, it sounds cool, I kind of wish I could go in don’t you think?” Lilliana said animatedly. She was very much awake now. “You know, it's too bad it's forbidden, I would love taking a peek...” Lilliana sighed, “I was thinking about it all night, I barely got any sleep!”
