pet The Lizard from the Books solo

Flora quietly walked into the Pet shop, looking around in awe. So this is where she can get her first ever pet— Not even the one from back home, the family pet. It’s her own pet that she owned with her own money! Glancing around, a couple was standing by the mice section, talking to another student, probably also here to buy a pet. She can tell that they’re perhaps the shop keepers. Well, she can stroll around by herself until they’re free. Hardly ever this excited, she went everywhere, from looking at cat of all kinds and owls of big and small. The arctic owl seemed beautiful, it’s big, feathery, white wings, and large, shimmering eyes—

Yet suddenly, as she was walking towards the lizard section, one of them caught her eye— A Baby Bearded Dragon. Yes, Flora can’t be wrong— It’s the lizard she once saw in the books, the ones she read when she was small. Perhaps the Slytherin isn’t so fond of lizards now, but seeing one herself did seemed perfect. She rushed over and looked at the bunches of Baby bearded dragons, scanning through them of all sizes and colours. Each of them are unique, very unique. She loved the idea of getting that one with extreme light yellow, yet the other bigger one seemed ideal, too. Despite the fact that they still seemed not so trusting besides her, for how she had never interacted with them before, and that she’s a stranger to them, she still found that bonding with them certainly will seemed easy. It’s a six sense of hers, Flora guessed, as she decided that she’ll adopt a Baby Bearded Lizard.

Now, the hard question is, which one should she pick? Having indecisive problems, she started walking around and gazing at them again, observing. Not one too old, or it’ll die soon, and not a sickly one. Also better not one that’s too identical to the school’s colours, or else it’ll be hard to find them. Better not too small too, but small ones are also cute… She unconsciously went to one of the lizard’s kennel, and gazed at it. It’s an orangish-yellow coloured, and it reminded her just of the sun that shines in the sky, well, the beams and rays of sunlight, perhaps.

Also another specialty about them. Looking at its tag, she tilted her head. A baby lizard, as it seemed— Not born too long ago. Approximately 3 months old. Not very big, but she can clearly see him— and it’ll be hard to lose him. Yes, it’s a boy, and an extremely extroverted one, as it seems. He crawled over to Flora’s side from his resting place, and stared up onto her with large, round eyes. That move certainly melted the first-year’s heart. Determined now, Flora decided she’ll get this Baby Bearded Lizard by the name… Ray. A good one— She would’ve named it Sunshine if it’s a girl.

Just at the right time, a cozy, friendly voice appeared behind her. ”Such a handsome child, isn’t he?” Flora turned around quickly, a bit on alarm, yet relaxed as soon as she saw the elderly woman’s face. It’s just the shopkeeper. “Also a behaving one, I would say, despite his adventurous personality. What do you think?” She said as she smiled at Flora, who returned an exited and polite smile.

“Why of course,” Flora said shortly and quickly, “Certainly,” She added, actually at a loss of words. She doesn’t even know him that well— What can The Slytherin answer of?

”Oh don’t worries, my dear. You don’t need to force yourself to answer,” The woman chuckled as she gazed at Flora, her eyes shimmering. ”Though do tell me, dear, have you picked out a pet yet?” She asked again, and The Slytherin once was about to shook her head, but froze. Didn’t she already decided? But the shopkeeper may know better of what kind of pet is suitable for her.

”Trust your instincts,” The woman said on, taking the baby Baby Bearded Lizard’s kennel up. ”I saw your eyes when you looked at him. It’s pure joy. I’ve seen much customers just like you—” She paused as she led them over to the cashier area, ”And after a while of considering, they always come back to that certain pet.”

“That’s why this is probably the perfect pet for you.”
Flora could feel her eyes widened, before going back to normal. Are her eyes so easy to read? She smiled at the lady, and answered, “I guess you’re right,” She agreed once again. Maybe she should trust her instincts for real after all.

Pausing a bit, Flora took a moment before she asked, “Well then, would I be able to adopt him?”
