There once was a time when Valentine's was synonymous with cute crafts and exchanged words between classmates. When it had rolled around at Hogwarts, Alora had expected a number of things, and none of these expectations had been met. Where the holiday had once seemed friendlier and more in tune with friendship, the percolations around the castle had not suited the young Slytherin student at all.

For one, she had sought refuge in the library of all places, which must have been a first. Truthfully, Alora had never been one to like libraries. Possibly because, much like in the muggle world, the wizarding world's repository of lost data and dust had a keeper who needed utmost silence. It reminded her of graveyards, except instead of people, it was information guarded heavily on paper, kept away from anyone that didn't quite fit a particular mold.

She had enjoyed the internet for a reason, and she sorely missed it despite magic having its own appeal. There was no one hoarding information. Although she couldn't quite explain the solitude and community of the internet, she missed it, much like some missed a home that only existed in their mind.

No matter where she found herself, she swore there were girlish giggles and whispers about who liked who and how cute so and so was. It never seemed to end. "It's the library, for Pete's sake! Is nothing sacred?!" she hushed harshly through the stacks. Though she usually wasn't one to be outwardly judgemental, she didn't understand this need to find some significant other. In her attempts to oppose Valentine's Day, she had found fascinating if not gory roman origins in the library she had planned to share with Colin. When he was done fawning over Clair, it was cute typically, even though she thought it was all pretty gross.

"They wouldn't find it appetizing if their partner licked their toast, but sucking face is grand apparently," she muttered to herself, trying to find a quiet spot. At this point, she was about to act out, though how was still something to be determined. Stealing chocolates could be entertaining, but then she'd heard a few students talking about adding love potions to their beloved snacks. If the holiday wasn't gross enough, that was enough to make her doubt wizards in general as far as their intentions went.
