Dear Eris,

I didn't expect to hear from you so soon! I'm surprised that you found the address so quickly, but really glad that you did, since I don't have anyone to talk to up here. We've only been in France for a day now, but it's been weird. We're staying with this woman who was apparently my dad's best friend, and she's got an entire forest growing in her living room! Dean acts a lot more annoyed than usual now, and I don't think he likes my dad's friend, even though she's been nice. He and Dad have been getting in a lot of fights too, though, so it might just be a teenager thing. Plus, I think he's mad that my dad's making him go to Muggle college. So yeah, pretty weird, but I guess it could be worse. It is only Tuesday, after all.

Anyway, happy birthday! I sent you a card before we left, but I don't actually know if it ever got there. Baldur, my dad's owl, is really old now, so he might have gotten lost on the way to your manor (which, a manor?? That's awesome!). The gala sounds amazing, too, and I wish I could come, but I don't think I'm pureblood enough. My mom and my dad and my grandparents were all wizards, but before that, who knows? We don't talk much about them. Your granddad is right, probably: I might be wizard-born, but I'm definitely not "elite". You'll just have to tell me all about it in September!

I miss you a lot too! Even though I only just got up here, I feel like I'm slowly turning into a Frenchman....today my dad ordered something called a "croque-monsieur" at this restaurant, and while we were eating lunch I nearly forgot all about Hogwarts. Anyway, the food turned out to be some fancy type of grilled cheese. Good thing, right? We spent the rest of the day walking around and visiting tourist places — you know, Notre Dame and the Luxembourg Gardens and that stuff. Hope your summer is just as exciting! I can't wait to see you back on the train, and we can talk about, well, everything!

God, I wish I could go to Paris! Anything is better than this manor, sometimes. While fun, it’s so large that I think I’ll get lost and die in the halls someday. If the house elves weren’t so helpful, that would be the case for certain. They have a knack of apparatimg right where I need them to be!

Apperation is so cool. All they have to do is snap their hands and show up somewhere else, just with a loud crack! Grandfather tells me I will be able to do this someday, after I come of age. That’ll be when we’re 16! Sounds unfair, since I’ll be one of the last people in school to turn 16. Curse you old people.

Your dad’s friend sounds cool! Maybe she’s related to professor Wright! It would make sense to why she has so many plants! You should ask her. It’s strange that Dean is acting weird, but when is Dean not acting strange? Maybe he misses Sydney a lot, and is just moping without her. Oh Adam! I hope they g I t married, that would be so cute; and would stop your dad from sending Dean off to muggle school, which is really strange by the way. Dean should do what he wants, right? Can’t he, as an adult?

Dear Eris,

I'm really hoping this gets to you! It was kind of a risk not writing the addresses in this time, but I figured that after the first letter, Baldur really didn't need them. As long as I tell him where to go, he seems to have an odd knack for finding your manor. I wonder if all owls are like that? Weird.

Not to rub it in, but France is sooooo fun. Me and Jen hung out yesterday, and it was so cool -- we were at this little park by Notre Dame, and then she took me on a cruise of the river there, the Seine. We saw so many things, right from the water! After that was over, we all went out for dinner, and it felt like the first time all week that we were all at least a little bit happy. When we got back home, I got to watch the sunset through the big window in the living room, which was just as amazing as the cruise. It's been pretty terrific -- but I'm sure you're having just as much fun!! I can't wait to hear all about the manor when we get back!

Let's see, what else can I tell you? It rained all day today, which wasn't fun, but I did get to explore Jen's house with Dean. He kept trying to find something, I think, but he wouldn't tell me what. I just liked going in all of the rooms. She has a LOT of plants. Everywhere. You're right, I think she definitely has to know Professor Wright, because they're the only two people I know with this much Herbology stuff. The rain stopped at around 8:00 (I'm writing this at 9:30, because it took me forever to find a sheet of paper), so hopefully everything will be dry enough for one last trip to the city before we come home tomorrow. I can't believe it's almost the end of the summer already! It's ridiculous!

Well, I'm rambling now, just like I always do. At least that hasn't changed. I'll wrap this up with a few more quick things. It would be weird if Dean got married, to anyone, anytime! I can't even imagine it. I'm sure my dad would let him do what he wanted to if he pushed hard enough, but I don't think he actually knows what he wants to do. Just not this. Apparition does sound awesome!! Mom and Dad talk about it a lot, and I think Dean can technically do it now, but he never does. He probably failed the test. I can't wait to be able to do it with you and go anywhere we want! No more stealing brooms!

Okay, my dad's now asking me if I want a late-ish-night dessert, which, duh, I do. I better go eat, and I know I'm going to lose my train of thought if I come back here in a cookie-induced trance. Adam, important question. If you had to pick between Captain America and Iron Man, would you? I wouldn't. I think it's so stupid that people actually did pick, which means, yes I am watching Civil War. Yes, okay, I would pick Cap, but still. It's still bloody stupid, and while you're off in Paris, I have to sit in this bloody manor all day long, watching old marvel movies, because my grandmum says that father isn't well enough or stable enough to travel.

Whatever that means. He seems fine to me, and I'm so glad you're having fun in Paris! Bring me back some of that French bread stuff, Baglets, or whatever they're called. Jen sounds so cool! Have you guys eaten slugs yet? I heard that French people like doing that, which leads me to believe that Professor Barrows is insane. Who the heck would eat slugs?

It rained here too, and on the matter of Dean getting married, the answer is obvious. DEAN AND SYDNEY!!! They're just the cutest, and if they get married, we can plan their wedding! Wouldn't that be fun? We could make Dean go down the isle wearing a clown suit or something, and take a lot of pictures, and they could have kids and stuff. I don't know how marriage works, most boys have cooties. Besides from you, because you're my best friend, obviously.

Dear Eris,

I'm really sorry about not writing back sooner. I feel awful about it, but there's been a lot happening here, and I nearly forgot about our letters completely. This is probably going to be a quick answer, since we're leaving for the movies in just a few minutes. My mom says we need to get out of the house. I think she's right.

Okay, where to start....Bridgit's here. She came yesterday to help my mom sort out a few things around the house, and she's staying for a while, I think. Actually, I'm sure you'll notice that this letter is being delivered by a new owl. That's Allen, Bridgit's owl. He's not quite as friendly as Baldur was, but he has much better vision, and he's a lot younger too. She's letting me send him out with this message, but I know she's protective of him, so I'll try to wrap things up here until I see you again at school.

I don't really know who I'd pick out of those two, but Captain America seems like the better choice. He's a nice guy, and he's the most normal out of the group, isn't he? Plus he's blond, like me . That's so scary about your dad! Has he been to a doctor yet? I'm sure your family could afford the best room in St. Mungo's, if you had to, so I know he'll be okay.

I'm still pretty sure that cooties don't exist, but I guess they could, especially if so many people at Hogwarts believe in them. No matter if they do or don't, I still don't think I want my brother to get married. That would just be so weird, even if it was to Sydney. Plus, marriage is kind of stupid. So many people get divorced, what's the point? But I like your clown-suit idea. Let's remember that one.

Paris was okay. The buildings were pretty and all, but I like Hogwarts a lot better. Then you don't have to run into any French people, and they're all jerks or liars. And slug-eaters. It's a stupid country all around.

Well, so much for quick, right? I really hope you don't mind reading all of this every time I send you your letters. I can always write less, if you want! I'm getting the feeling that my mom wants to leave in a few minutes to get good seats at the theater, so we should get going. We're seeing that new Winnie the Pooh movie, Christopher Robin. I was getting scared that you've never write me back! It's been pretty bad around here. I have to go to tea with Dorothy, the little hufflepuff girl who was at the lock in with me. You remember the lock in, right? I know you weren't there, but that was a really crazy day. Hell Adam, I wish you were there for the lock-in. I wish you were there for a lot of things last year, and it sucks that we're in different houses. It's not fair in the slightest, and it's also not fair that we haven't seen each other at all over the summer.

I'm now making it my goal to have you come over. My grandparents would be fine with it, I'm sure and we have a lot to talk about.

I thought you liked Paris, and Jen? Was that her name? Yeah, I think it was. Did Sorrel's discount sister turn out to be a jerk? Adam, you gotta tell me these things. What did she do? Also, do I need to come beat up some french people?

Eris, I told my mom all about our idea for a sleepover, and she loved it! I can't believe it! This is probably going to be a short letter, since it's so much easier just to tell you everything in person, but seeing you again is going to make the end of my summer so perfect!

I don't even know where to start. I have so many questions about your house, because a manor, whoa! What should I imagine? Do you have servants? A butler? One of those fancy little food elevators, what are they called? Dumbwaiters! I probably sound so stupid, but I've never even been to a fancy party before, much less a manor. You don't have to answer any of these questions, by the way. I'll be able to see it all for myself in a few days! I still can't believe it!

Yeah, Paris didn't go how anyone expected it to, but we're not really talking about that anymore, so you don't need to beat anyone up. I know you're probably disappointed by that. Next time, I'm only inviting friends with me. Family's nice and all, but you can never tell what they're thinking. Could you imagine me and you and Rosie and Reid and all of us on a vacation somewhere? I've always wanted to go to New York City, or maybe somewhere in Africa, although it would probably be really hot, wouldn't it? That wouldn't be quite as fun.

I know I keep saying it, but I am sooooo excited to see you again. I can barely hold this quill that my mom is making me use even though we have perfectly fine pens at home. I'll probably even forget to date the top. What day is it anyway? It doesn't matter. I can't wait to meet your family, even though I'm a little afraid of them. Most of all, I can't wait to hear about everything you did this summer! Owls are nice, but they only go so far, you know?

It's so weird to think this is probably the last letter I'll send before school starts. I'll let Mom or Bridgit know they need to get in contact with your family and figure out how to get me over there. I hope I don't have to use Floo powder again. It's so confusing. Have you tried it? No, don't answer that, I'm getting off track. You can tell me at your house.

This is a dream come true for this summer, really.
