===With each step, Morgan's foot sank deeper into the fluffy, supple snow as she gently moved through the frigid winter landscape. The trees were covered in heavy frost, and the ground was coated in white as she observed the surroundings. A feeling of calm washed over Morgan as she observed the peaceful sight.
===She took a deep breath of the crisp, cold air and felt her body relax. The stillness and beauty of the winter landscape around her were like a dream. She walked for a while until she arrived at the edge of a lake.
===Satisfied with the amount of snow that had gathered around her, she decided to sit down and dig in. Pulling the book she had borrowed from the library, she eagerly began to read.
===Ever since she was a young girl, she has been a passionate reader. She would lose herself for hours and hours in a wonderful book that would take her to far lands and exotic locations. She loved losing herself in a fascinating novel and looked forward to doing so each day. Reading has turned into one of her favorite hobbies, and her love for it has only grown stronger with time. Furthermore, she can't read in public because of the noise and distractions. It's better to read in a quiet place where she can focus on the words written on the page without anyone else's interruptions.
===She went through the book slowly, flipping through the pages and taking in the words as she went. She loved the feel of the pages between her fingers and the way the story unfolded before her eyes.

Winter Falls
Cynthia just wanted to have a nice little stroll. Duelling. Duelling. Duelling. With the anxiety of her first match in the end of January, her world had seemed to whirl her around. As far as she knew, she was the youngest duellist in the WHOLE school. And of course, what if she got paired with someone like Barlow, or against someone like Fowl? No, no. Calm down.
When she reached the shores of the great lake, she couldn’t help but notice a girl sitting there. She had dug a hole in the deep snow and did not seem cold at all. She had bundled herself up very nicely. But still, it seemed as if this girl was hiding something. She was a Gryffindor, which was a house she had came to hate. First it was Chapman, arguing with her about a stupid incident, then their was Karrie, leaving her club without a word.
Yet this girl seemed different. Unlike all other Gryffindors, she had a level of intellect. And perhaps it was too far a gamble to take… but this girl seemed almost like she was from Oxford as well. Of course, it was a large gamble, but she had that Oxford feel to her. It was perhaps hard to describe, but Cynthia liked that fact.
This girl had dark hair and eyes — everything about her seemed just so dark. Cynthia walked over, and said, ‘Hello. Would you mind if I sit here?’ She never hid her accent. Sometimes she tried to diminish it, but never hide it completely. She was proud to be from where she was from. This time though, her accent flowed out of her, as rich and thick as the snow around her. It was a sophisticated and beautiful sound.
She leaned closer to read the girls name tag: Morgan Kingsley. Lovely name, she thought to herself.

===Morgan is happily reading her book in the snow, not paying attention to anything else around her. She absently turns the page every now and then, her eyes skimming over the text. She's so engrossed in what she's reading that she doesn't even hear the crunch of footsteps approaching.
===She suddenly became aware of a presence near her. She looked up from her book, irritation flashing in her eyes, only to see a Ravenclaw student standing there. “May I help you?” She paused for a moment, wondering why they had interrupted her.
===The girl asked if she could sit next to her. “Oh,” Morgan fixed her gaze on the girl, examining her closely to see if she might be up to something sinister. She was trying to read her expression to see if she might be plotting something. She saw that the girl was a Ravenclaw and didn't have any problem with that, so she took the opportunity to be friends with her. “Sure.” Morgan scooted over to give the girl some space so she could sit next to her.
===As she resumed reading her book, she ran her finger along the lines of text, following along word by word. She turned the page when she finished the current one, and continued reading in the same way.

Cynthia smiled as the girl told her it would be alright to sit next to her. The ground must be very cold, and Cynthia decided to pull a clever trick. She slipped out her wand, ‘Hopefully you wouldn’t mind.’ With a deft movement of the walnut wand and a ‘Incendio,’ the Ravenclaw started a fire large enough to melt the snow, but small enough to not be any harm. As it got larger, she swished her wand once more with an ‘ Extinguo,’ and the fire disappeared. The snow melted away, and the ground was only a bit hot. ‘Morgan…’ Cynthia said the name slowly, tasting it’s rich goodness. ‘You know I wouldn’t sit in the snow like that if I was you.’
With that comment, Cynthia sat down in her newly cleared patch of land, sometimes pushing the excess snow away from her when it got in her way or got too annoying. She took out her own book, one she borrowed from the library, and was determined not to get wet with snow (there was no point making the librarian angry). She didn’t really plan to strike up a conversation. Just sitting here with another person who was reading quietly, overlooking the beautiful and (in)famous Great Lake, made Cynthia happy. There was no need to talk, she didn’t even like talking or chatting, especially with strangers.

===MMorgan was so deep in thought while reading her book that she didn't even notice the fire that had started burning beside her. She only realized something was wrong when she started to feel the heat of the atmosphere around her.
===The girl was holding a wand, and it was clear to the woman that she must have been responsible for the fire that had started next to her. She quickly stood up, ready to confront the girl and demand an explanation. “What the hell do you think you're doing, starting a fi-” Before she could say anything, the girl quickly pointed her wand at the fire and extinguished it with a simple spell.
===At first, she thought this girl wasn't going to be any trouble. She was standing in front of her, casting a spell that could easily have been turned on her. What if she was the one who got caught in the spell instead? These thoughts raced through her head as she watched the girl carefully.
===Morgan ignored Cynthia's advice, turning a blind eye to her words. Sitting in the snow, Morgan felt the cold seep through her clothes and into her skin. She didn't mind; in fact, she found it strangely comforting. The snow felt like an old friend, and the cold was nothing more than a mild annoyance.
===After a moment's distraction, Morgan turns her attention back to her book and starts reading again. She loses herself in the book, barely even registering the time passing.
===She closed her book with a sigh, having reached the end of the chapter. She would continue reading in her common room momentarily, but first, she took a moment to observe the girl sitting beside her.
===“What's your name?” The question hangs in the air, accompanied by the sound of the winter wind rustling through the trees. Morgan's face is lit up by the soft light of the setting sun, her eyes inquisitive. She waits for a response, her hair blowing in the breeze

‘Well,’ Cynthia retorted as Morgan started to confront her about starting the fire, ‘I’m not a savage like you, sitting in the snow!’ she spat, her eyes turning from their normal obsidian to a grey colour, it always happened when she got angry. She wasn’t like Morgan, she hated the cold. Plus, it wasn’t like she was causing any trouble. The only rule was not to duel outside the duelling club, but starting harmless little fires like hers were certainly alright. ‘In case you didn’t know,’ she dropped her voice mockingly, as if to tell Morgan a secret, ‘We use magic to do our bidding.’ She took a deep breath, ‘Which means we use it to evade the snow,’ she explained to Morgan as if she was a toddler.
Cynthia was shocked out of her reading when Morgan suddenly decided to ask her name. Well, and she thought they would just be sitting here reading, enjoying the serenity of the Great Lake. But, no. They had to talk. Fine, Cynthia thought, even though she wasn’t in the mood to get to know this Morgan person. Still, perhaps she was only asking her name to report her to the professors. No, she would not give a direct answer. Cynthia cocked her head and studied Morgan, mentally reminding herself that her name tag was in her robe, where others could not see. ‘Tell me why you want to know first,’ she said, with every word cautiously. ‘Then crack this riddle: what everyone knows; what we all feel; what word should we say more; what hurts the most; what most people lack; what people care most about; what is often misunderstood?’ and you would know the answer.’ Typical of her, a Ravenclaw, to think up a riddle for her name on the spot.
OOC answers (unless Morgan is IC smart enough to solve, please don’t metagame this):
Common Sense, Yearning, No, Truth, Honesty, I(themselves), Ambition.

===Morgan wanted to call her out on her bullshit, but she decided to keep her mouth shut. She didn't want to give the girl the satisfaction of knowing that she was getting to her. Instead, she just smiled and nodded, as if she were actually interested in what the girl was saying.
===The girl continued to talk down to Morgan, and it was really getting on her nerves. She tried to act like she knew everything, and it was really annoying. Morgan finally had enough, and she interrupted the girl. “I don't need a lecture on magic. I know more than you could ever hope to.”
===She had been asking nicely, but she was given a riddle instead of a straight answer. Is this a joke to her? she thought.
===“Whatever.”
===Her eyes averted from the person she was talking to, instead turning back down to the book in her hands. However, upon closer inspection, it was clear that she wasn't reading the text at all. Rather, her expression revealed that she was deep in thought, trying to puzzle out the riddle that had been given to her.
===What does everyone know? Common sense, of course! What do we all feel? Hmm, this one is kinda hard.. love? longing? oh, yearning!
===What word should we say more? Easy, peasy! No! We should try to use this more often. It can help us set boundaries and avoid being taken advantage of.
===What hurts the most? Truth hurts.
===What do most people lack? I hate when people lie.
===What do people care most about? I care about myself more than anyone else. After all, if I don’t care about myself, then who will? No one is more important to me than myself, and I always make sure to put my needs first.
===What is often misunderstood? They see it as a negative quality, something that makes people pushy and unkind. But really, ambition is just a desire to achieve something. It's a drive to be better, to do more.
===She stands up, the snow falling gently from her clothes and onto the ground. “Cynthia.” A smug smile spread across her face as she finally deciphered the riddle. “It's Cynthia, is it?”
===“It was nice meeting you, Cynthia,” Morgan said, before quickly adding, “But that would be considered a lie.” All Morgan wanted to do was read in peace, and Cynthia's interruptions were getting in the way of that.
===“Now if you'll excuse me,” she said, her voice laced with ice, “I have other things to do rather than solving these tedious riddles of yours.”
===Morgan walked away, feeling pleased with herself. She didn't like Cynthia, and she didn't care if she had hurt her feelings. All she cared about was getting away from her and into a place where she could read in peace. Maybe she would go find a quiet corner in the common room where no one would disturb her. That sounded like the perfect plan.
