Rarest Hana Attack

He had recently stepped into a new universe, really. The other side of the grass where itโs always greener. A seeming impossible feat he had long thought was just a mere childish fantasy. It has been a few days since he hadnโt insulted anything. Heck, he never even thought about it! Instead of secretly judging passersby as they pass by, a few were weirded out by Hanakoโs enthusiastic greeting. Yes! Greetings! From him! Hanako! Saying something as simple as โgood morningโ without a sarcastic tone! Has the world turned upside down? For the young boy, it definitely did. But for the better.
Those who knew him well could have logically assumed someone had taken a polyjuice potion and replaced him. They had ample reason to do so. Like why is the kid who always sleeps in class suddenly so attentive? Why is he doing simple things like helping random people with their books and opening doors? And for free, too?! And worst of all, he saw a cat and thought it was cute. A cat! His natural enemy since the day he was born.
The reason for his massive change in attitude and general aura? Percival Rainwood. Years he had spent bottling up every feeling he had. Pushing people away, keeping things to himself, basically trusting no one but himself. Playing the ever consuming role of a carefree jokester who never struggled in life because he couldnโt care less. It has been his mask, his protection, and his duty to himself. But a few days ago, he had done something he never thought he would ever do. He took a chance.
Chances were unpredictable, and the unknown is scary. Hanako spent years avoiding anything he couldnโt control. Being a specific โsomeoneโ usually allows you to predict how others would perceive you. They left you? Okay, itโs because youโre a jackass. You got screamed at? Okay, because youโre annoying. It made him somewhat immune to the negative reactions he got. And in a way, he thrived in it. It seemed the most comfortable for him and he continued it for years.
Alas, relationships were anything but predictable and definitely not a solo thing. That too, he avoided for so long. Despite his best efforts to shield himself from the unpredictability, 11 year olds usually only got smarter from there. Since arriving at Hogwarts, many had gone against his regular predictions. Doing everything they can to effortlessly throw him off. How morbid.
As terrifying as chances are, he learns thereโs something enchanting about it. Chances allow room for growth, exceeding expectations. Honestly, if he was being dramatic about it; miracles!
And he felt the full glory of it once he opened up about his parents for the first time, to none other than Percival. His friend's immediate acceptance of it all was mind blowing. He thought his relationship with his parents, their divorce, his struggles, were tangled balls of yarn that he needed to detangle himself. Showing it to others would only make him stray away further from the mask he wanted to show. Hanako has no issues. Nothing makes Hanako sad. Crying is not something Hanako does. Rainwoods reaction to him opening up was a clear indication that all his worries were just in head. Absolutely no one was thinking about that. Especially those who were truly there for him.
After that, he started thinking about other people around him as well. Who he wronged, who didnโt deserve what he did, who actually did, and who were there for him but he was too blind to fully embrace it.
The last one had a clear answer; Dealla Prince.
It was love at first cookie throw. Joking joking, there wasnโt any spark like that. But intriguing and memorable certainly could describe their first real interaction. He thought she was crazy for the longest time, as most Ravenclaws are. It seemed almost like fate that it was her that found him crying after his first fight with Percival. Dodging every attempt he had to make her go away as if they were dueling spells. Throwing cookies at his face (yea she really did that) and proposing a crazy scheme to help him not be a big prat. โ Decent Human Behaviorโโข class, as she says. An option that was incredibly foreign to the boy. As well as possibly plenty of others hearing โDecent Human Behaviorโโข for the first time.
Classes with her were hard. He was forced to do things he never wanted to do, likeโฆ talk nicely to people. And likeโฆgiving them presents. When heโs getting nothing in return. He had graduated and whatever he learned did give him some hope, but the fruits of his labor never bore fruit. Until now, that is. And he was determined to show just how much.
โPRINCE!โ Screaming was a way to get attention, and it was also a way to let off some energy. Hanako simply looked like he was in a blissful state of sugar rush. Not at all like his usual chill demeanor. Speed walking around going from bystander to bystander and politely asking if theyโve seen Dealla Prince. One pointed towards the Great Hall and Hanako spared no time rushing to.
Once through the huge entrance of doors, he scanned the room for a familiar looking thick hair with shades of dark bronze. Once he identified one, he walked towards them pretending to look like he had not just run here.
Quickly making sure it was indeed the person he was looking for, Hanako let out a relieved sigh. โPrince!โ Opps, too excited. Gotta tone it down. โ Prince. No no, wait, Deeโ he correctly gently, an all too evident smile still on his face. โI just ran hereโ Stating the obvious. As if his light panting and forehead sweat wasnโt enough to tell her that. His next words came out slower, as if taking pauses to catch his breath. โ Don't really want to talk. Afraid I might chicken out. Honestly, if you stopped or immobilised me or something, my future self might get down on his knees and be prepared to be your lackey for free out of gratitude. But I really have to do this now. Iโm gonna start counting, you have 3 seconds to run awayโ. Regardless of what Dee might say, Hanako started his counting.
โ three โ
โ two โ
โOneโ was prolonged due to his heart suddenly acting crazy. Every tsundere instinct in him told him to flee. Make an excuse or create some ridiculous scheme to save himself and his pride. His hesitation was as clear as day, and only one thought surged him to do his next action.
โI want her to know how much I careโ
If Dee didnโt immobilise him, or smash his face with the nearest pie, she would fall victim to the most heinous of attacks without a last warning.
Hug attack.
And an SSS super ultra rare one considering itโs from Hanako. However awkwardly placed the hug was ( leaving this up to Dee to determine how Hana hugged her for easier writing ), once his hug started, it was locked in. Absolutely no escape for Dee for a few long seconds. She could have easily overpowered him and pushed him off, of course. He figured, which is why he kept his words short and simple while he still had his arms wrapped around hers.
โ Thank you โ
No sarcasm, no mockery, no mask. Just pure genuine happiness.
Hugs. An unfamiliar warmth he had not received or given in years. For just how long was he so cold? To others. To himself, too. A vicious repetitive cycle of pushing himself thinking it was the best for him, when it did the exact opposite. Now, he didnโt need to think about any of that. Trial and error certainly paid off. Finally, he was completely fine. And much to that was thanks to this person. The unfortunate victim of his rarest attack.
As much as he wanted to relish in the moment, realisation that they were in a public place hit him as hard as a brick. Face slightly flushed in embarrassment, he leaned away as quick as lightning, giving Dee good enough space to still smash his face in a pie if she wished. โ Erm, well-โ he coughed out nervously but remained seated to her right. โ Sorry. Iโm not feeling myself lately. Though I suppose thatโs a good thing. I still meant what I said earlier. โ he confirmed. Though slightly red, his face didnโt lose any joy they had moments ago. With determined eyes, he repeated the next words clearly. โThank you, Dee. For..a lot of thingsโ

Rarest Hana Attack
It was just a normal Tuesday afternoon, and Dee was minding her own business... Well, actually, it was a Monday, and Dee was notoriously bad at minding her own business. She was really infamous for poking her nose into other people's business, with varying effect and degrees of acceptance. No one had punched her for it yet, but really, it was only a matter of time. They'd have to hit her first, anyway.
She almost jumped when a familiar voice with an unfamiliar amount of enthusiasm called her name from behind, then turned, an eyebrow raised. Had someone dosed Hanako with Alihotsy Draught? No, not enough laughing. That Euphoria elixir? That seemed about right.
"Yes..." she began, then got interrupted when he repeated her name, then corrected himself into using her nickname. Something was definitely strange today. "You... ran here?" she repeated, baffled. "Do you need something?" She'd always had to force Hanako to participate in her shenanigans, although she'd usually been successful. His protests had been rather easy to break with her unrelenting stubbornness and the force of whatever inspired idea she'd had at the moment.
Her concern grew more at the torrent of words that followed. That sounded... no, it couldn't be. Could it? No, there was no way Hanako was working himself up to a confession. Not of romantic nature, at least. Right? She narrowed her eyes in suspicion. "What did you do?"
He gave her a countdown, time to immobilise him if she so wished - or to run away, but if it was between those two options, immobilising sounded more fun - but Dee didn't move. He'd done it, her curiosity was piqued, and she would watch this play out for good or for ill. Possibly for ill or for worse, but at least this was breaking the trot of normality this day had been so far.
The time ran out, and Hanako suddenly leaped forward at her, arms outstretched. Dee almost flinched back - was this an attack? Seriously, what was happening, someone please explain. But no, instead he wrapped his arms around her, pinning one of her arms to her side, squeezing tightly. It took a moment for her to realise what this was - a hug. That was... about as unexpected as if Dee was suddenly bad at potions. You know, pretty much impossible.
Stunned, she tried to decide how to react. Hanako and her didn't have a hugging type relationship, they never had. The concern that someone had spiked his drink seemed increasingly likely.
The words were short and soft, and Dee paused as they registered, then softened slightly. She raised her one free hand, awkwardly reaching up to pat his head softly. "Sure," she replied. "For what, exactly?"
It didn't last very long before Hanako backed away, face bright red, and Dee grinned at him knowingly. "Just to be sure, you didn't accidentally take a sip of Elixir to Induce Euphoria, did you?" she questioned, enjoying his embarrassment maybe a little more than she should.
"You know, it's fine to be happy and express it," she added, still smiling, and reached out to ruffle his hair again. "Can I ask what brought this on?"

"Just to be sure, you didn't accidentally take a sip of Elixir to Induce Euphoria, did you?"
Just as Hanaโs red face calmed down, a tint of it came back once more and he groaned. โThis is an annoying way for you to tell me Iโm not acting like myself. Please spare me from your teasing. I already know Iโll look back on this day and squirmโ. He admitted defeatedly, followed by another lighthearted laugh. It was embarrassing sure, but even Hanako couldnโt take himself that seriously in this situation.
"You know, it's fine to be happy and express it,"
โ Yea.. haha. Yes, I know. Thatโs what youโve been trying to tell me for the entirety of our 2nd year, right?โ
Dee reached out to ruffle his hair and to the shock of anyone there who recognises him, Hanako allowed it.
He made personal space such a big deal for him, it was unlike him to allow anyone to do such a thing. Almost as rare as hugs from him. And this Ravenclaw girl by the name of Daella Prince managed to get both. How could she do it? It was a mystery to Hanako. Hell, it was still a big mystery as to why he felt such comfort from her actions when most of the time, she annoyed him. With her unyielding stubbornness and intense motivation to help him โget his bad metre downโ while calling him โexperiment 626โ. A reference he understands thanks to a certain sly red haired slytherin boy. And yet, he was certain all he felt from her messing his hair up was safety. He felt safe. A still unfamiliar feeling for him, and one he was eager to experience more.
"Can I ask what brought this on?"
โ Oh, well. This is a bitโฆembarrassing for me to say.โ But not as embarrassing as running here just to hug someone, so he figured it would be alright to continue. โ But itโs you. You were right. About..everything. Those dumb classes you made me go through. Making me talk nicely or forcing me to give stuff to strangers. It didnโt end up being a total waste of my time, or yours- surprisingly. And I just realised that yesterday because-โ.
Then he halted, clearly hesitant to share more. Immediately, he recognised where this was coming from. But he took a deep breathe, and continued.
โ As you can see, Iโm in quite a good mood today. So Iโll let you choose what you want to hear. Would you like me to shower you with more compliments and inflate your ego, or would you like to know more about me? Iโm sure you realise I donโt share a lot about myself. And personally, Iโd like to keep that mysterious allure about me. Contributes a lot to my already overwhelming charm. But itโll be difficult to explain what exactly happened to make me like this without sharing anything about me. So how about it, Dee? Want to know why your experiment 626 had such a high bad metre in the first place? Or can you leave me and my mysterious charm alone?โ he grinned in his usual joking manner.
While he was aware he was over the moon for the last few days, he could never shake off the innate fear he had of..sharing anything. If Dee were to accept, she would be the 2nd person to know how pathetic and predictable Hanako really is.
Just some lonely kid that couldn't be good enough to get his parents attention, so he tried his best to get that attention from other people. Good or bad, it didnโt matter. To be noticed and known was all he wanted. Or at least it was the only thing he dared to ask for. But the event with Percival had changed his perspective. And assured him that not everyone was going to leave him more alone after they knew the truth, in contrary to his predictions.
While he hoped Dee would be satisfied with being showered with compliments, there was an unfamiliar sense of confidence that she wouldnโt run away either. If she chooses to know, of course.

Rarest Hana Attack
Dee's smile only widened, more than a little smug, when Hana flushed again in response to her needling, and she rolled her eyes at his request. "Oh please, you know me well enough that you must have seen this coming. It is my duty and my pleasure to make sure you remember this, squirming included. Forever." She grinned, teeth glinting. "It's gonna be fun."
But the teasing edge faded a little, softening down into a more genuine expression; perhaps he was finally learning, and what more could she ask for. "I mean, that's shortening it down a little, but... yeah, pretty much, I guess."
She'd expected more complaints at the contact; Hana a year ago would have whined and complained extensively if she'd tried to pat his head this way. Her personal Experiment 626 would likely have bitten her back then. But then, the gesture wasn't condescending or patronising in this case, not the way it might have been if she'd done it to anyone else. It was fond, it was approving. There was a warm glow spreading in her chest that was unfamiliar, and it took her a moment to classify it as pride. Not of herself, of any achievements; not the unwieldy thing that made her snap when someone poked the wrong spots or kept her from apologising even when she was clearly in the wrong. She was proud of Hana for entirely unselfish reasons, and that was new for her, too.
"I've noticed," she replied drily at his comment that he did not like to share. She'd had to force any and all confessions about himself and his feelings out of him for as long as they'd known each other, although in all fairness, she'd done it cheerfully and enjoyed it, too. Theirs was an interesting relationship, certainly.
The offer, however, gave her a pause, her eyes scanning his face, questioning. It came as a surprise to say the least, she hadn't expected him to actually come forward with information, much less to ask if she wanted it. Whenever she'd dragged things out of him, they had then come in uncontrolled bursts that she couldn't have stopped if she'd wanted to. "I think my ego's fine, thanks," she replied slowly. More than fine, to be honest, although Dee would with complete conviction say that it was earned confidence and not a bloated ego at all.
Truth was, she'd often wondered about why Hana was the way he was. Of course she had, insistent curiosity was what had landed her in Ravenclaw in the first place, winning out against her pride and her ambition and all the reasons she'd originally thought she'd be wearing green at this school. But she knew, felt, even, how much it meant that he would willingly share this. Her answer, thus, was genuine. Open, honest, the way she'd used to be as a kid, and that the past years had often taught her not to be. "No, I'd love to listen, if you want to tell me." It'd remain his decision to do so.
