Day at the Beach
Clarke nodded thoughtfully, still looking highly confused as they spoke about Tennis. He suddenly became very thankful that the boy, who apparently was a huge fan, had not actually asked about his father. He wasn't sure if he should give a real name or not. He knew Muggles had things called internet and his mom warned him that they could use this to figure out if he was lying too much. That's why he shouldn't talk to them much. Except Clarke grew up in a muggle town and there weren't a lot of magical children around for him to interact with. He had a few childhood friends but not as many as he'd like.
"Uh, yeah," Clarke nodded, "My dad is uh known for scoring goals in tennis games. but he's getting older now," his voice wasn't so strained as he started to talk about the parts of his dad's career that were actually true, "so they think he's going to retire someday but he really doesn't want to. Don't tell him but I think it's time for him to go," he said that part with a little bit of a smirk, "he's just not as good as he used to be but he's captain of his uh...tennis team so they can't really get rid of him."

Day at the Beach
I'm just going to pop in here if that's chill with you all because wow I need friends.
It wasn't too often that Lucien was able to go to the beach. Did he enjoy being in the sand? Not really. Did he enjoy being near the water? Not realy. Did he enjoy getting attacked by crabs every time he tried to walk near the shore while reading a book? Certainly not. Did he enjoy the sound of the ocean while reading a book? Absolutely. He was perfectly fine sitting under the umbrella, away from sun light, by himself reading a book. Unfortunately for Lucien, his step-brother was there, which meant he would drag the poor pale boy into the sunlight to go make friends like a normal human.
It wasn't too long that Cal executed that vision. "Lucien. Get up and get some sun. Come on, most people your age are out making friends and playing in the water or talking about sports." His older half brother stated trying to take the book out of Lucien's hand as he normally had to do. However, the Raven haired boy simply shook his head no clinging onto the book. Lucien, let go of the book, I want to hurry up and beat your sister at volleyball, and sand castle building." Cal spoke to him again, finally getting the book about Hogwarts out of his hands. Lucien sent a glare at Cal before standing up looking around for people to talk to. He saw people his age, plenty in fact. He just acted as if he couldn't see anything so he wouldn't have to go.
And by doing just that, Lucien received a shove in the direction of a group of three boys around his age. How lucky for him. Maybe people wouldn't be so bad. He approached the group rather slowly, in fact as slow as possible. "May I join you all? My family won't let me sit on under the shade for another hour and I have no one to talk to." He said rather quietly, mentally hoping that no one would make fun of him for his two different eye colors, he had dealt with that enough at his old school.

Day at the Beach
Beck smirked with Clarke at the comment of his father's age because he could relate, his father was quite old for having a son his age, though he did have a son who was 15 years older than him. He noticed Clarke's voice start to calm down and sound more sure of himself. Of course he had no idea what tennis was really about, but he wanted to show the boy that he was in fact listening, and taking in all of his words too. "I understand that, my older sister and one of my brothers are also super into sports, but neither of my parents were. So I suppose they're just special cases. It's really cool that your dad is such a high rated player in the.. Tennis ranking."
He looked up when he heard another voice. It was a soft voice, but he liked it, "I don't mind if you join us, and I'm sure.." Beck caught eyes with the new boy, and he was fascinated by the different colours. He paused for a moment to take it in, before continuing with his words as to not make the new boy feel uncomfortable, ".. I'm sure the other's wouldn't mind a bit either. I get wanted to be in the shade, it can get pretty hot out here if you're in the sun for too long." Beck started to shuffle over on the sand a little as he spoke, as to invite the new boy to sit next to him - as if he didn't already have an entire beach of sand to sit on already. Beck gave the new boy a warm smile, "My name is Beck. What's yours?"

Lucien smiled happy that he at least had people to be around. Beck was right about not being in the sun, it was extremely hot at times. "Thank you, as you can probably tell, I'm not a fan of the sun." He said as he sat down beside Beck. Lucien tried to recall the last time he had been in the sun, so far all he could think of was when the sun would shine on his desk inside his house through the window. That counted, right?
"Pleasure to meet you all, I'm Lucien. Lucien Avery Escanora at your service." The raven haired boy said a bit too formal. "Sorry that was overly formal, let me try that again. I'm Lu." He said with a slight laugh before extending his hand for a hand shake. It took him 12 years to actually give someone a hand shake, he had to get over his fear of germs somehow, either that or his sister was going to murder him for it. Frankly Lucien preferred not getting killed by his devil of a sister.
He looked out the corner of his eye just in time to watch her beat Cal at their game of volleyball as she usually did. Not only that put she proceeded to yell "In your face Calah!" and a different array of insults at their poor relative, causing about 10 different people to turn their heads. Lucien just rolled his eyes at her. A show off would be a show off, and there was no stopping that. He mentally hopped his twin would try to be less showy during their second year of Hogwarts. He didn't feel like apologizing to a bunch of first years for anything she did.

Beck watched the new boy, before looking him up and down. His skin was very pale. He figured that the boy really did not get out much, but it was okay because neither did Beck, "Well that's okay, the sun isn't for everyone really." He started to think about how the people at Hogwarts might be - will they all be deficient from vitamins because their parents locked them inside, as to not expose them to Muggles?
Beck laughed a little, he could tell the boy was nervous but he wanted him to know that he needn't worry. He lifted his arm and took Lu's hand into his own, before giving it a shake, "It's nice to meet you, Lucien Avery Es.. Escani.." He had a hard time trying to pronounce the boy's last name and his cheeks flushed slightly red with embarrassment, "Lu." He continued with a confident smile, as though it never happened.
He followed the boy's eyes and he watched the two other people have an altercation, presumably they must have been Lu's family. Beck progressed into a laugh as he heard what he thought to be her sister hurling insults at the other poor boy.
"Is that your family?" Beck's head looked back to watch Lu's face, "My two brothers are just over there playing volleyball too, although they aren't nearly as entertaining as your family is!" He smiled a wide grin as he tilted his head to the side slightly.

Clarke looked up as the new boy approached them and lifted his hand in a wave, "I'm Clarke," He said "it's nice to meet you." Not wanting to be in the sun was something Clarke knew other people felt but not something he could personally relate to. Not wanting to be in the sun? How. It made you feel warm and comforted and alive. But maybe that wasn't something other people needed like he did or maybe it just had the opposite affect on them. Either way he probably couldn't really judge.
Mostly he was glad that the other boy introducing himself was a distraction from the conversation about whatever Muggle sport his dad was playing. Was it tennis? Yeah that's what he said... he was pretty sure. So instead he listened to them talk about their siblings and wondered idly what it'd be like if he had siblings. His parents barely could stay together with one kid he wondered if two would make it better or worse. Probably worse. Still the way siblings interacted with each other was endlessly enlightening to them. There was no other relationship like it in the world.
"They all make volleyball look a lot of fun," he said on a slight laugh.

Lucien laughed slightly as the other boy tried to pronounce his last name. It was always entertaining to see people try to say it. He then smiled over towards Clarke. "Yep, that would be my family. Loud and annoying." He said as he watched his Aunt scold his twin sister for insulting Cal. "That angry person with the blonde hair is my Aunt, the other guy there is my step-brother Shinar Calah, we call him Cal since his name is ridiculous while the tall girl being loud is my twin sister Ara. The rest of the group didn't come thankfully." He said smiling. He looked over to another group that was playing volleyball, Beck's family. "My family really knows how to...capture attention and drama I suppose. The Newspaper likes to do reports on their drama." He said laughing again.
It wasn't everyday his family disrupted a bunch of people's beach day, but Lucien did have to admit. It was rather entertaining. It was funny really. A year ago his sister would have never played any sport other than quidditch and figure skating, but here she was beating Cal at everything he tried. "So...what do you all like to do for hobbies?" He asked quietly unsure of what to talk about. After all, he rarely talked to anyone other than his sister. Cal had been right all along, talking to people wasn't so bad.

Beck chuckled at Clarke's volleyball input, before he listened to Lu talk abut his family, watching each person as he described them - until he got to his step-brother. He scoffed at the comment about his ridiculous name and he gave it a go under his breath, "She- Shy.. Shin-arh." He knew it wasn't exactly how to say the name, but he was still proud of himself enough to give a smug smile. He raised his voice to a normal level as he continued, "Anyway, you have a twin sister? That's pretty cool. I always wanted a twin because that sounds like it would be a lot of fun."
He pulled one of his knees up to his chest and rested his forearm on it. All he could think about was his siblings, and how they were as he was growing up. From the contrast of Donovan's closed-off personality to Lyden's jokes, he was glad he had siblings.
"Well, I really like to build things.. And I like to take things apart that are already built. I just have a strange fascination with how things are made, it's kind of silly. What about you?" Beck rested his cheek on his forearm as he watched Lu, getting ready for an interesting response. If the boy didn't leave the house much and he didn't like the sun, that must mean he has a cool hobby that he does at home, right?

Lucien tried his hardest not to laugh at the pronunciation of Shinar. It was funny to listen to Beck try to say his families names. Everyone had weird names in his family which made it all the more fun to watch people attempt to say them. "She's pretty cool, troublesome, but cool. If you had a twin like mine you would probably trade them in for something. She's the devil I swear." He said with a slight laugh. She wasn't the most merciful person in sports or games...Lucien learned that the hard way.
He listened to Beck as he explained what he liked to do. It sounded really cool to Lucien. "That's actually really cool. I can't build anything to save my life. I spend most of my time trying to create a bunch of new potions. I'm working on a cure for Myopia, schizophrenia, and a ton of other stuff. I also like to ice skate a lot, my whole family does. My mom was going to complete in something called the Olympics but she had to quit before." He said with a smile. Lucien wondered if any of them knew of Olympics, it was a muggle thing so surely they knew about it. Unless they weren't muggles.

Day at the Beach
Beck smiled as he listened to Lu talk about his sister, he thought it was sweet that they didn't seem to get along because it's different from how twins usually appear - wearing matching outfits, liking the same things, practically best friends. He'd never seen any twins before and he was interested to learn more.
"You sound like you and your sister are pretty opposite. Pfft, I bet she's not as bad as you think she is." Beck flashed a smirk at Lu, before nudging his arm lightly. He always wondered what it would be like to have a brother or sister who was closer in age to he was. Nikolas was only 4 years older than him, but sometimes it felt like he was 40 years older.
Beck heard a word he was extremely familiar with, "Potions?" He wasn't sure if the use of the word was something Muggles used when referring to something else. Or if it was a game or something he wasn't familiar with. What are the chances that he just encountered another Wizard?
On the contrary, the Olympics was something Beck had no clue about, and he started to shift nervously. He had no idea what his mother would be competing for but he didn't want to raise any eyebrows by disregarding it, "Oh I love the Olympics. It's unfortunate that she had to quit, I'm sure she would've been great." He gulped as he smiled nervously, hoping that Lu would not ask him about it.
