Stephen drags his feet in long corridor. Unfortunately... It is time to work. He is in Hogwarts school since one month and he has difficulties to make his homework. In his little city, Stephen had simple lessons: history of magic, literature or mathematics, and he was not used to work. Really work. Now, he must learn spells, train himself again and again — magic is so difficult! He must know many dates and a lot of theories. He works during the days, and again after the classes, and again before going bed, and the weekend. It is very much, too much for him. That rhythm worked during... two weeks.
In the third weeks, he decided that exploring castle was the best thing to do, even though he had homework. Explore castle or speak with students. Stephan doesn't have any real friends but he has lots of buddies on every House. There are always someone to join him to play or talk about anything... Except homework.
Today is a bad day: Stephen remembered that he has a paper to write for History of Magic and that he has to give it to his teacher... Tomorrow. So he must work. He really must work.
So... He drags his feet until study room where he founds a chair. He sits here, takes his school things from his bag and...
When he looks up, he sees a girl. A student. At his table. A big smile appears on his mouth.
"Hello!" he exclaims. "I didn't see you."
He looks at his parchment and his quill on the table. He realizes that the girl is more interresting. He watches her with a knowing smile.
"I really want to draw or... run in the sand. Or anything else! Work is so boring, isn't it? One day I was in class... When I was at Tinworth, you know... And with my friends... Their names are Michael and Emmy; they're really, really kind!"
Stephen gestures a lot when he speaks and his eyes look at the girl very intently.
"So, I was with them and... Oh!"
Suddently, he remembers what he has in your bag and he totally forgets his story.
"I have chocolate frogs! Do you want it?"

dialogue othersooc note. aah i tried, idk if its good or not.Elira sat at one of the many tables in the study room, tapping her quill against the table as she looked at the parchment in front of her. Transfiguration homework. She liked the subject itself: and the teacher, of course, as energetic and stupid as that Professor might sound when he spoke. She had gotten an O on her last assignment and was determined to get another perfect grade.. but her mind was utterly blank.
Elira was so preoccupied with trying to recover her thoughts, she didn't even realize a boy had sat down at the same table.
"Hello!"
Elira jumped, getting back in touch with reality.
"I didn't see you." the boy went on, and the girl finally paid attention to who had just sat down at her table.
It was a boy: with short brown hair with matching brown eyes. He seemed quite short: maybe just in comparison to Elira, who herself was pretty tall for a first year.
"Uh. Hello, i guess.." she answered, trying to sound as friendly as possible. She had no clue who this boy was, which year he was in, or even what house, and most importantly REALLY didn't want to strike up a conversation. Her Transfiguration homework!
The boy smiled at her, and began to speak again. "I really want to draw or... run in the sand. Or anything else! Work is so boring, isn't it? One day I was in class... When I was at Tinworth, you know... And with my friends... Their names are Michael and Emmy; they're really, really kind!"
Elira didn't even know how to respond. She really didn't ask for his life story, or who his friends were from 'Tinworth', whatever that was. A village or town of some sort? She really couldn't care less. The boy hadn't even given his name yet, and he was already story-telling!
"So, I was with them and... Oh!" he began again, not even letting her respond, and reached for his bag. "I have chocolate frogs! Do you want it?"
"sure, thanks.. Uhm, not to be rude. but who are you? I literally have never seen you around before." Elira responded, placing her quill down on the table, making sure no ink got onto the polished wooden surface.

Stephen bends over to pick up his bag. He searches inside until he finds the chocolate frog; he shows it to the girl with a big happy grin. But he suddenly understands her words. He looks at her, a small indulgent smile on the mouth. She seems curious about him and that makes Stephen happy.
The boy puts the chocolate down in front of her. He keeps the bag in his knees but bends over it to speak in a confident tone.
"I'm new here, I mean I'm a first year! In Gryffindor. My mummy was a Ravenclaw and my mum a Hufflepuff. I thought I would go to one or the other but no. I'm a Gryffindor, a good Gryffindor. Which house are you in?"
He examines the girl in detail. She seems confident; Stephen immediately concludes that she is in second or third year. That is why she has never seen him.
Since he was a child, thoughts come fast in his mind. When he thinks about one thing, there are immediately three, four, five other thoughts that appear at the same time. Being focused has always been difficult for Stephen; he can't stop his thoughts. And because he likes speaking (his mothers would say that he needs to complete the silence with his words because he is frightened of it), Stephen always says everything, absolutely everything that comes into his head.
"Are you in Ravenclaw? You look a bit like my mum. I mean, your style of dress!" He clarifies, looking at her clothes. "And my mummy, like I said, was a Ravenclaw."

"Oh...," Stephen mutters.
He winces; he was really sure about the girl's house! He wrinkles his nose, disapointed by his mistake. Now, the way he looks at the girl is different: no one watches a Slytherin like they would a Ravenclaw. Is she like the Slytherin in the stories? Ambitious, cunning, ingenious? He's never met anyone like that.
"You don't seem like a Slytherin," he says, even if he doesn't know what a Slytherin should be. He is disapointed: the idea that this girl is like is mummy was really attractive. "Do you believe that we are really like our House says?" he asks awkwardly. "I hope! I want to be chivalrous even if I don't know what it means exactly. But chivalrous is really a heroic word," he says with an innocent smile. "And you? Are your an ambitious girl?"
The question seems to be a bit intimate... Stephen looks down, his face red. A small, intimidated smile appears on his lips. With clumsy words, he explains:
"My mum says that the people who are too ambitious are un-" He finds it difficult to say. "Unreasonable. Are you unreasonable?"
There are two very important things in Stephen's life: the sand race for which he trains during the year to win when summer comes and his mothers who are always right. Stephen has lived all his life in Tinworth with his mothers. He has never shared them with anyone else and no one has taught him to qualify his opinions of them. By the way, Stephen doesn't want to change his mind about them. The words of his mothers are the only constant things in his life.
Ooc note: Yes, Stephen is an immature boy! And he is too innocent.

dialogue othersooc note. elira is getting offended loll"Oh...," the boy responded quietly.
Elira saw him wrinkle his nose, and she stiffened, feeling offended. She took great pride in being in Slytherin: even if the other houses considered them too ambitious and sly for their own good.
"You don't seem like a Slytherin," the boy said, "Do you believe that we are really like our House says? I hope! I want to be chivalrous even if I don't know what it means exactly. The Gryffindor looked down, and Elira assumed he was embarrassed, "My mum says that the people who are too ambitious are un-.. Unreasonable. Are you unreasonable?" he finally says.
"I feel that the stereotypes of the houses are somewhat true: but the assumptions of us are unfair. Yes, we did have dark wizards in our house. But the Great wizard himself, Merlin, was in Slytherin. Would that make him evil? I think not. We have our good qualities too, you know." Elira said, indignantly, "There's never anything wrong with some ambition or cunning. Ravenclaw for example, isn't the only house thats smart. I get straight Os, and you dont see me being in that bird-brain house." she finished, then sighed.
"Think of me what you will. I really couldn't care less. I don't believe i am unreasonable, but maybe i am quite ambitious. I have goals in life. Another interesting fact about me: I'm a pureblood. You going to assume my family are pureblood fanatics who hate anyone who aren't pureblood next?"

Stephen literally breaks down: he turns pale when the girl's tone rises. He did not want to irritate her! She speaks, and she speaks again. Stephen makes himself small in his chair. Suddenly, the girl looks really impressive. She is so confident! She talks so well! She makes a big impression on the boy who doesn't know what to say. He doesn't dare to say anything.
There is fire in her eyes, she looks like the heroine of the adventure books he reads before bed. Like her, Elizabeth Frida Kungsle is strong, confident, ambitious and rebellious. Stephen feels the need to be loved by this Slytherin. A desperate need.
"Oh, sorry, sorry, sorry!" he exclaims. "I'm so sorry! I never, never assumed that you... You..." He can't find his words. "Your family must be very nice, even if they are purebloods! And... And..." He swallows. "And I'm absolutely certain you can love me even if I'm a wizard born and have..."
Stephen falls silent.
He chooses to hide the fact that a quarter of his family is Muggle. He is not ashamed... But he remembers Mum looking down when Mummy Ingrid talks about her Muggle father... ; and Mummy Ingrid grimacing uncomfortably as Stephen tells what his grandfather is building in the factory where he works "Iron birds who flying! It's really incredible!". Stephen doesn't realise it but he shares the shame of his mothers, even though he has no resentments towards muggles.
"I have nothing against the Slytherins. I even have a friend who will probably be in that house in the future," he continued, wringing his hands. "And it's okay if you're unreasonable, you know," he smiled shyly and shamefully. "Elizabeth is very unreasonable."
He hesitates.
"Elizabeth Frida Kungsle, a heroine of books. You... You look like her..."

Woah, Stephen thinks in his mind with real admiration, she apologises without fear! She is no more irritated, even though he had been a bad boy because he mades her feel judged. Most children like him, who are eleven years old, shout or cry when they are angry: his friend Emmy mades crises during hours if she has not what she wants, she sulks and is mean; sometimes she bites! And Michael falls into a deep silence and his looks are really dark. But this girl is different.
In fact, Stephen is a little afraid of her. The speed of her outburst, and especially the speed with which she calmed down, seems really mature. And for Stephen, maturity is an adult thing. But this girl is a year or two older than him, no more! So she is a child with adult charisma. This charisma is what makes Stephen respectful. He can't be with her as he would be with his friends. She is too intimidating.
"It's nothing," he reassures her, raising his hands in front of him.
He could never blame her for anything. The boy looks down at his knees.
"I really like Elizabeth," he says carefully, taking her nod as an invitation to talk. "She's impressive. She saved the world! And she's really, really beautiful! You're beautiful too," he enthused. "You remind me of my mother."
In months or years, Stephen will be ashamed of having compared this impressive girl, or any other, to his mother. But today, Stephen is still a little boy who thinks it is a compliment.
"Can I ask what you're usually like?"
Stephen must be really intimidated to ask if he can ask a question.
"Can I ask if you're still angry with me?"
He doesn't dare look at her, even though he wants to to compare her to Elizabeth.
Ooc note: oh my Merlin, Elira has so much power over Stephen now! He is too kind.

Stephen is reassured by the girl's tone. He opens his mouth to say that yes, he does admire his mother. Of course, she is really nice and beautiful and she is always right. When she speaks, everyone listens. Well, Stephen listens. He opens his mouth to say it but the girl continues to talk, so he keeps quiet.
Several times he wants to speak but the Slytherin has things to say. Stephen does not want to be disrespectful, so he chooses to wait until she is finished. And he is right to do so: she says she is not angry. Stephen feels a great relief. His shoulders relax and he finds a small but real smile. He puffs out his cheeks and sighs.
"Oh, I'm so happy, I was afraid to offend you!"
He is so happy that she is not angry that he is ready to reply to all her questions. Stephen really focuses: how old is she? She seems so mature and she uses clever words. Like "sarcastic" and "brutal". And she is not excited like the other children. She is calm as if words never exceed her thoughts. Except for her outburst but... But Stephen is still impressed by the way she calmed down so quickly. So... How old is she?
"Mmmh...", Stephen cogitates. He frowns and nibbles his nails. It helps him to think. "You're not a first-year student," he says. "You are too... Too... Mature and adult to be like me. So... You must be in... Third year? A really impressive third year, obviously!"
He look at her with great eyes. He would like watching her during hours to understand who she really is.
"Are you like Elizabeth? Did you grow up too fast? Elizabeth grew up too fast and that is why she is different from other children. You know, Elizabeth is a witch with a lot of talent but her childhood was really sad. She never knew her parents! It's horrible!"
Then, without transition:
"My name is Stephen. What's yours? I'd like to call you Elizabeth, but my mother says I'm not allowed to invent a name for people. But for plants I can."

dialogue othersooc note. not much to writeElira noticed that the Gryffindor opened his mouth to speak several times, and felt rude for not pausing and giving him a chance to. "Oh, I'm so happy, I was afraid to offend you!" He said.
"Mmmh...", Stephen murmured, thinking. He frowned and bit his nails (Elira was guilty of that habit too, and somehow managed to get it under control). "You're not a first-year student," he said. "You are too... Too... Mature and adult to be like me. So... You must be in... Third year? A really impressive third year, obviously!" he finished, his eyes going wide.
Elira bit down on her lower lip to suppress a massive grin pulling at the corners of her mouth. A third year!
"Are you like Elizabeth? Did you grow up too fast? Elizabeth grew up too fast and that is why she is different from other children. You know, Elizabeth is a witch with a lot of talent but her childhood was really sad. She never knew her parents! It's horrible!"
Once he said that, Elira paled slightly, feeling that unfortunate punch in the chest that she did in fact grow up too fast: she kind of had to, having been born into a sophisticated pureblood family and as their only daughter, let alone child.
"My name is Stephen. What's yours? I'd like to call you Elizabeth, but my mother says I'm not allowed to invent a name for people. But for plants I can."
"Let me formally introduce myself, Stephen. My name's Elira. Elira Carmen Lamacraft. I'm actually a first-year at this school- i'm not exactly sure if being called a third-year is a compliment or not, but thanks i suppose! And, well my childhood.. it was strict. That's pretty much it." she finished, and tapped her quill on the table, giving her abandoned transfiguration homework a glance. Oh well. It wasn't due for another week, so she guessed it was fine to scrap it for now.

Stephen listens to Elira with great attention. His legs are swinging under the table. Now she is no longer angry, Stephen is calmed. She is still there, so that means he must not disturb her! And she speaks with a smile and a good tone. Stephen is no longer afraid of her. But he is impressed again.
The little boy is shocked when she says she is not a third year. What?! She's in first year? Like him! So she's in class with him. How could he not pay attention to her? She has a look that appeals. Not to mention the way she talks. She is different from the other children. It's just the opinion of an impressionable boy. Anything different from what he knows is spectacular. And Stephen doesn't know much about life. He's lived in Tinworth all his life with his two mothers and his friends. He has never travelled out of the country or made friends who don't live in the same town as him. So yes, Elira Carmen Lamacraft seems to be a very interesting and mature unknown.
"Yes!" he exclaims. "That's really a compliment! You look so... I mean, you're not like my friends who are eleven. You're... Quiet. And smart. And, uh... You speak well."
He paid no attention to her livid face. Stephen is an empathetic child but he is unable to understand the signs of unhappiness.
"Strictly childhood, eh? So I can understand why you are like you are. Maybe your parents didn't teach you to have fun?"
Stephen feels he has been given an important mission. In his adventure books, Elizabeth learns from chapter to chapter how to live and have fun, she who does not know the pleasure of enjoying life. Stephen is absolutely certain that Elira is like Elizabeth. She too must learn to enjoy life. And Stephen is the only person in the world who knows that she needs to.
Ooc note. Well... Stephen will be unbearable.
