Dear Cailean!

It's Christmas and it isn't the same without you and Liam. I know it'll never be the same, but if only you were here, at least it would be tolerable...

Aunt Indigo's wee ones aren't so wee any more! And speaking of being not so wee, our Moira is about as big an erumpent now. Seanmamó is sure she's got twins! Do you think she'll name them Colin and Liam? Angus came home from America. He's no longer a prat, Cailean. He's now officially a git, and Angus is too. Neither one can say anything good about you, other than you're not home. If I had my wand, brother, I'd transfigure their food into charcoal as they spooned it into their big fat mouths. They spent most of their time with Uncle Callum. You know, the one with the odd manner? He scares me, Cailean. He and Da yell a lot. There's been a lot of duelling too. Not all of it fun. Ma's been quiet. I'm sorry I can't tell you much, but that's only because I don't know much!

I did find something interesting in the library, though, and thought of you immediately! I'm sure you've got the McCoire Condition, my dear! Read this and tell me I'm wrong!

<3 Dearest Victoria <3:
Honestly, I do not understand what has gotten into that boy! You know of whom I write. Our dear Alex has gone down to London, ostensibly to watch the quidditch matches with his mates, but in stead he has gone all queer! Yesterday morning, quite early mind, a most horrid and monstrous sound came roaring up from the workshops. I had thought perhaps our dear mother had blown herself to bits. Again. But alas, the roaring and banging noises were nowhere as ordinary!

Our dear brother returned home with the absolute strangest of contraptions I have ever laid my eyes upon! He calls it a Motor Car. I call it a monster, Vicky. I could hardly credit it myself, he's gone completely muggle! You see, the Motor Car is a kind of muggle conveyance. Of course, locomotion has always been difficult for the lesser folk, mired as they are with coaches and muddy, rutty roads. But now it would appear that they have replaced the tranquility and quiescence of a sensible horse drawn conveyance and replaced it with some kind of complicated iron and brass --- mechanism.

Alex cajoled me into 'going around in a drive spin' as the muggles call it, and I can inform you that I shall never again set foot upon any kind of muggle mechanism. Yet he seems quite fond of the iron beast, for it drinks some kind horrid smelling potion and belches an even worse kind of fume. I am telling you, dearest sister, I fear for the future of wizardkind! And of our younger generations. It is bad enough that a pure blood like Alex picked up his queer ideas at Hoggys and the Study of Muggle Matters, but I am certain that it is quite another thing to bring such muggle nonsense into a wizarding land.

And what is worse? Let me tell you the latest, dear Vicky! It is quite the scandal! Alex drove that iron beast all the way down to Lairg and back with --- you'll never guess! --- Irene and Eunice Applebottom! At least those two are respectable. However, not so much can be said of the other two --- you know the ones I'm talking about! Vera Riddle and Lacy Cullen! English lassies. And dark as the bottom of a well, those two. Pretty enough the lot of them, and sure Alex has inherited the McCoire Condition, but introducing pure blooded girls to the horrors of muggledom!? That is unconscionable!

<3 Love Always, your twinheart Bodicea <3

See Cailean! That's where you get your lovey-dovey from and your keen interest in motorcars and all things muggle!

I'll write to you again soon!
Love you and try not to incinerate any more shirts!

Ciarán
