Kim noticed Valentin tipped his head towards him while waiting for the second round to start, probably gratitude for placing the two of them together? He wasn't sure what the gesture had meant but it wasn't a bad thing, that was for certain. Ginyami copied Valentin's actions too. The orange haired teen nodded back to both boys, before announcing that the second round had begun! First up was Ginyami Midorimori again. He decided to go for Bailey Glade again. As before, the luck of the fox was with him and he managed to land another hit on the girl in front of him.

Unfortunately, that meant Bailey Glade was now eliminated, with three spiders stuck on her. It would have been nice if she'd been able to land her last spider attack on him at the end. But it didn't seem as if luck was with her this time as her attack just missed him. However, her partner Galton Lansdale was determined not to let her sacrifice go to waste and was able to land a solid hit on Ginyami Midorimori, the poor boy not even having a chance to dodge the attack. Perhaps he'd been too focused on taking out Bailey Glade at the time. One spider clung to him.

Valentin Schnell had chosen to go after Galton Lansdale but his attack missed the target completely.

Maybe it was because he was concerned about the attack that had gone for his partner, or perhaps he'd just been unlucky at the time. Kim glanced over at Bailey who had moved off to the side. "You can either sit with the spectators and watch the other matches or you can go back to the main area and indulge in some refreshments and snacks again. When the match is over, I'll return and give out some gift bags. Once I do, the bash will have ended and you can either stay and talk amongst eachother and eat and drink, or you can leave if you have other things to do!" Kim said and returned his attention to the match.

There was one round left, which would decide the winner! Who would it be? Who would fortune favor?

When Ginyami graciously agreed, a gleam lit the White Seeker of Durmstrangโ€™s eyes. Certainly the media would be covering the Hexiwizard game tomorrow and put the white king in the spotlight along with his team, but Ginyami seemed confident. The whole world would get to see the Mahoutokoro boyโ€™s handiwork, whether heโ€™d ever given a hair cut before or not. Indeed, Valentinโ€™s snowy locks were beloved by many fans and a common topic of their conversations. Yet, Valentin grinned, unphased. There was no question of if the Japanese boy would do a fine job โ€“ that he had accepted was enough of a signal that he could handle it. Since their first moments together, Val watched the otherโ€™s adept social cues and consideration. Trusting that Ginyami would decline if the imposition were unreasonable, excitement began to brew inside him. Even if it came out funny after all, what Val really wanted anyway, and more than practical benefit, was to carry a bit of Ginyami's touch with him into the battle.

โ€œThank you, Iโ€™m truly looking forward to it.โ€ His silver-amethyst eyes squeezing with a hint of mischief, Valentin could almost feel the wispy touch in his hair already. Why should he feel like he was getting away with something when the other agreed of his own accord? At that rate, every moment spent with Ginyami felt like a sweeter fate than Val deserved, not just receiving his help with little advance warning.

The Japanese fox began his preparations for the next round, only to catch Valentinโ€™s sleeve and lean in close with a whispered challenge. The seeker figured Ginyami already knew what his answer would be but was being polite in introducing the topic. Yet, since Valentin was prone to mercurial tactical changes, it was not redundant to ask.

One day, the Frost Captain thought, we will read each other so naturally, so spontaneously, our synchrony will play out with the smoothness of tacit improvised music. Even now, moment by moment, Valentin continued studying Ginyami to attune himself to the boy's every movement, impulse, and desire. The impromptu spider duel was exactly what Valentin wanted with its rich opportunities. It gave him the chance to not only learn this, but also to perform for the other and bask in the momentโ€™s charms together.

โ€œCertainly, I will strive to accomplish any challenge of yours. Ask me anything.โ€

Eventually Ginyami would pull away, and Valentinโ€™s radiance softened. It was time to take aim, and although his companion swiftly hit his mark, Valentin missed his own. The duellist was even more fleet-footed than expected, and Galton's spider struck Ginyami true as well. Still glad that one opponent was out of the picture, Valentin put his hand on the kitsuneโ€™s back during reloading.

โ€œGood shot,โ€ began Val, descending into a whisper. โ€œHowever, I must admit Iโ€™m quite jealous of this spider.โ€ Looking down towards the sticky arachid attached to his companion, Valentin bit his lip with a playful sneer. โ€œLetโ€™s try again.โ€

Roleplaying as Ginyami Midorimori from Mahoutokoro

The fox could only chuckle when the goblin king said he was looking forward to his haircut, amused at his seemingly boundless optimism. He didn't seem the least bit worried as to whether or not Ginyami would do a good job. The Mahoutokoro student supposed there was always magic to fix what had been done if he really did fail at a decent haircut, but Valentin's apparent confidence and trust in him bolstered his mood anyway. It was a funny thing how much just one person's opinion of you could have such an impact on your mood, especially when you were the sort of person who cared little for the opinion of others in general. Ginyami wasn't sure he'd been so aware of such a thing before, but now warmth erupted in his chest at the mischief in those star lights of eyes.

Almost the minute he proposed a challenge to make the game more interesting, Valentin was ready to accept without even knowing what it was, just as Ginyami guessed he would be. Again, so trusting. But did that make him a fool? Did it make him brave? The fox couldn't help but be in awe of him regardless of whichever it was.

"By the end of this game, the person between the two of us with the most spiders stuck on them has to do any one thing that the other asks." This meant, of course, that they could throw their spiders at each other despite being partners, but would Valentin want to win badly enough to do so? The noiret was curious.

Grinning as his second spider found its mark, Ginyami's triumph was short-lived as he felt something hit him. Brows rising, he looked down to see the sticky spider of the older student, Galton, on his clothing. Perhaps Valentin wouldn't have to make any effort to win the challenge after all. Ginyami's smile turned helpless and he gave a little shrug, determined to go on with the game nevertheless.

When his partner missed his target, he winced slightly, but applauded his effort nevertheless. He found Valentin's hand upon his back and his compliment in his ear shortly after. "Thank you, Your Majesty. Unfortunately, it seems I was not as lucky escaping the one aimed at me this time." However, it was the comment about being jealous of the spider on him that caused Ginyami's face to flush a bit. He lowered his gaze demurely to follow Valentin's onto the little false creature.

"As you wish."

To be perfectly honest, these spiders were rather underwhelming when properly aimed. Nailing his opponent didn't have the same elating feeling that came from dueling. There was just a bit of weight missing. Galton was very glad he hadn't missed again, but the impact didn't prompt any more (or less) adrenaline than where he was when he started the match.

On the contrary, being targeted by the spiders did solicit some adrenaline. As he twisted and turned to avoid the incoming spider he had to give credit to the foreigners - they had skill. A younger Galton would have added that said skill was still below Galton's, but this was the new and improved, mature, Galton, the thought didn't even cross his mind. No, even if the first spider at him had missed, he couldn't grow apathetic. If he did there was no doubt there would be a spider clinging to him in seconds.

With a final spider being stuck to Bailey, Galton would put all thoughts of apathy out of his mind. He was now alone. The poor Raven. At least getting stuck didn't look painful in the slightest. "Ah Merlin! I'll do my best to get us that win." He'd say to his eliminated partner. It couldn't have been such a fun game for the girl though. Youngest one here, eliminated as fast as possible without sticking anyone. Definitely not her night. Just rotten luck, luck that had now put Galton in a much more difficult position. He'd have to land another two spiders just one of them out? All while dodging, if things went perfectly, four spiders from them. The odds were looking more and more bleak.

It was the third and final round of the short Spider Games. Kim wondered how everyone was feeling about the games that he'd come up with on his own. No one had ever done something like this before, at least not to his knowledge and he wondered whether it was even the least bit interesting for the participants. Not to mention those watching from the sidelines. The setup was eerily similar to that of dueling, albeit with no spells being cast in the process. Perhaps next time he'd add that as an option too. Maybe add some kind of point system to make things more fun.....

Maybe more points would be given for a spider being thrown vs a spell being cast? He'd have to think about it later on and give it more thought before coming up with a working idea. But Kim had almost a full year to consider how to put things together. Returning his attention to the match, he watched as Ginyami targeted Galton, which didn't come as much of a surprise. After all, there was only one person remaining on the opposing side. Who else would he have targeted if not for Galton? Galton was pretty good at evading attacks and he almost managed to avoid it again...

But Ginyami's spider found its mark in the end and latched onto Galton's clothes, located somewhere around his waist area. Simultaneously, both of the other participants threw their spiders at the same time. Galton threw his spider at Ginyami's partner, Valentin, while Valentin threw his at Galton. Unfortunately, the fifth year Gryffindor must have been nervous about both attacking him at the same time, because his throw went wild and came nowhere near the target he'd been trying to hit. Luckily, Valentin had the same luck as Galton and missed too.

Perhaps he'd been too distracted at the time by admiring the way Ginyami looked when he threw his own spider. Maybe that was why Valentin's own throw didn't have the accuracy he normally would have had...

And now... the Spider Games were over... as it was the third and final round...

Kim raised a hand into the air to signal a stop to the match. "We have a winner! Valentin is our winner. He has no spiders stuck on him and both Ginyami and Galton both have one. The prize is a chocolate frog for you, Valentin. However, since your team won the match, I will bestow two chocolate frogs to you. Since the match only is supposed to have one winner, you can decide through rock-paper-scissors who amongst the two of you is the ultimate winner!" Kim paused for a moment to take a breath.

"The ultimate winner will receive the two chocolate frogs. Or if you'd like, you can just share them and each take one. It's up to you. Thank you for participating in the Spider Games and I hope to see you again next year! You may return to the bash or leave if you need to be somewhere else. But if you decide on the latter, make sure you pick up a mini skull bag from the table before you leave!" Kim told them and then headed over to the other side to see how Cash was doing with the other matches going on.

Just as Ginyamiโ€™s spider left his hand, Valentin launched his own in synchrony. However, watching Galtonโ€™s throw consumed all of Valentinโ€™s attention at that moment, leading him to miss his own shot. Still, from that momentโ€™s intense focus, Valentin spotted a tell in the way the Gryffindor moved his arm. Wanting to make up for a previous lack of showmanship, in a flash the frost captain decided to not only dodge, but also take his duelling partner by the hand and spin him around as if they had never left the dance floor. With his unpredictable maneuver, Valentin evaded Galtonโ€™s throw from a considerable distance. (Nat 20 evasion roll) Finishing their spin as Galtonโ€™s spider splatted off to the side, Valentin squeezed Ginyamiโ€™s hand and grinned with pure amusement. He didnโ€™t have to look. Val knew that Ginyami had succeeded from the sound of his spider glomming onto the Hogwart.

โ€œNice aim,โ€ purred the White Seeker, slowly lowering his hand out of its dancing posture. Turning to face his opponent and their moderator, Valentin listened as Kim declared the matchโ€™s winner. The seeker then bowed to both his opponent and their host as he observed how each person seemed to be feeling. โ€œA fine match. Thank you for the splendid occasion.โ€

As Kim left, Valentin waved goodbye to him and Galton. Leaning in a bit closer to whisper to Ginyami, a tickle of air breezed through the foxโ€™s hair. โ€œYou can take both frogs if you want. These ones are special and I couldnโ€™t possibly give it away like I do the fan candy. I would just end up putting mine into a personal museum or something and wasting the good chocolate.โ€ Although Ginyami hadnโ€™t yet had the occasion to visit the Schnell Estate, he might have learned about the seekerโ€™s sentimental displays from personal investigation, as they sometimes came up in conversation among the White Seeker's fan clubs.

โ€œOh, I supposeโ€ฆ I should be making a request of you, to fulfill our deal.โ€ As he lowered his head, Valentinโ€™s eyes peered up with embarrassment at having won. Heโ€™d wanted to be the one to fulfill Ginyamiโ€™s wish, but he wasnโ€™t about to steal that privilege by throwing the match. Iโ€™m supposed to be learning to take, right? Oh man, thisโ€ฆ well, Iโ€ฆ welcome the challenge. Letโ€™s seeโ€ฆ โ€œWould you invite me to your house to meet your family sometime, please?โ€

Valentinโ€™s hand rose to pluck off the spider adhered to Ginyamiโ€™s torso and lifted it to eye level with a pouty face that could only survive one moment before a grin spread from one corner of his mouth to overtake his entire face with joy. โ€œI wonder if Kim would let me keep this little guy. After all, with the spider competing for your affections, I should really keep an eye on him, eh?โ€

Putting his left hand on Ginyamiโ€™s waist as he ran his right thumb across the fuzzy top of the false arachnid, Valentinโ€™s argentium eyes returned to beaming back at the foxโ€™s.

โ€œAre you sure you donโ€™t want a reward of your own from me? After all, it was your fine throw that finished the match for us.โ€

Roleplaying as Ginyami Midorimori from Mahoutokoro
"English | Japanese"
Preparing to aim and throw his own spider, Ginyami was caught off-guard as Valentin took him by the hand to spin him around but went with it, still familiar with the momentum they had shared from dancing previously. During the spin, he noticed the spider launched from Galtonโ€™s hand flew wide and realized that Valentin had used the dance maneuver to elegantly dodge. He chuckled at that and met his partnerโ€™s grin with one of his own, squeezing his hand back as it was squeezed.

"Thank you," he replied as the seeker complimented his aim. "Excellent dodge yourself." Kim came forth with a raised hand then, announcing the end of the match and Valentin as the winner. Ginyami clapped before mimicking his partner with a bow to Galton and then to Kim. "That was a fun competition indeed. Thank you for the opportunity to play."

As the Hogwarts students departed, the Mahoutokoro fourth year waved to them as well before finally returning his attention to Valentin. He had leaned in to whisper in Ginyamiโ€™s ear and the Japanese boy thought it was going to take some getting used to to have him so close with his breath playing on his skin and hair.

"I am not sure why you would give them to me if they are so special. But very well. Perhaps I will attempt to feed them to you later like I did those grapes," he commented, accepting the chocolate frog prizes. "You can at least save the cards if you want to keep something to commemorate the occasion."

He smirked at the game winner as he mentioned making a request of him as per their deal, curious as to what he would dare request. It was amusing to see Valentin embarrassed, especially about something like winning. When he made his decision and asked Ginyami if he would invite him to his house to meet his family sometime, however, the black-haired boy was taken aback. That was what heโ€™d wanted of him? So few people cared to learn about his personal life including his family or home life. Why would Valentin? He could hardly refuse, though.

"Ofโ€ฆof course I will. I just hope you do not regret asking that. Itโ€ฆis not terribly exciting at my house with my family." He wondered what his family would think of Valentin, a foreigner and a non-pureblood. Well, from what Ginyami had researched, he was famous and wealthy enough that they probably wouldnโ€™t disapprove of him or Ginyami spending time with him. Not to mention Valentin had that ridiculously excessive natural charisma going for him.

His mind returned to the present as he watched the goblin king remove the spider that had been stuck on him and laughed at his momentary pout. "Competing for my affections? Was that what he was doing? I did not notice with you being so distracting by my side the whole time."

Speaking of distracting, he felt Valentinโ€™s hand on his waist and touched it lightly with his own hand. He supposed he would have to get used to behavior like that as well. "You already offered me your prizes from winning and bestowed upon me the honor of cutting your hair. What more could I possibly want?" He paused. "Aside from what I told you I wanted before, of course. But I still plan to try for that later. After we get your hair cut." He coiled a pale, loose lock of Valentinโ€™s around his index finger for emphasis. Then he released it and began walking toward the mini skull bags on the table nearby to retrieve one.

"We had better hurry. We should not be up too late tonight with the Hexwizard task of tomorrow ahead of us."
